Let me start this review by saying the chicken sandwich and the burger were both PHENOMENAL! Definitely worth whatever it takes to get it. Now, the place is super small with weird seating. I like the dark vibe it has going though. The most frustrating part of it all? Servers came off super pretentious and would intentionally walk by your table without looking to avoid you asking them anything. Moreover, the place doesn't let you make many changes to your order. For example, if you ask for easy rice on the sushi, they will say no. If you ask for them to put the avocado on the side due to an allergy of one member of the group, they will say no. Our items came out SUPER slow, and this was after waiting a while for a table. The sushi is subpar - heavy on the rice and not enough fish. However, the coconut shrimp roll was good. That all being said, I'd go back and deal with it all again for the chicken sandwich and the burger. Both were a bit heavy on the bread in comparison to the protein, but delicious nonetheless.

Had an amazing experience at honor bar. The service was impeccable. It took a while to get service; however, once someone took my order everything was really efficient. My drinks and order came out swiftly and my burger was cooked perfectly. I rarely order medium rare burgers but I heard the quality was amazing here and it really was. The taste was really unique. The only downside is it kinda falls apart on you and you have to use a fork and knife. Very classic ambiance.

The food is pretty good but I wouldn't say it's mind blowing. The vibes are good but the wait is insanely long (1.5-2 hours on a Wednesday). Service is pretty good too - attentive servers that are nice.

The best burger. I've heard lots about this burger & im rlly glad u tried it. "The Honor Burger" features a number of unique toppings & flavors including barbecue & a cole slaw. It is very filling so come when you're hungry. The french fries are so crispy & delicious. They come with a side of spicy mayo & ketchup. They taste like McDonalds fries but more fresh & crispy. I'd come back for sure.

Finally made it to the Honor Bar and it was mid-afternoon so able to grab a booth. Fun, cool atmosphere. Food was on-point. Great versions of a chicken fried sandwich with fries and their addictive season salt. Deviled eggs were good but not the best I've ever had (Yardbird's). Service was friendly and attentive throughout. Can't wait to go back to try the famous burger and a sushi or two.

Have yet to step foot into this restaurant, always order to go but have ordered their chicken sandwich at least 20+ times now, it is by far the best chicken sandwich I have ever had in my life

Great vibes and service. Definitely a good collection of bottles and the bartender I had was amazing! She was knowledgeable and able to make exactly what I want! Definitely recommend!

Probably one of the best chicken sandwiches I've ever had! One of my favorites in LA. The service was pretty good took care of us pretty well. It's definitely cool vibes here on the other side is a whole restaurant. On the honor bar side it's a pretty decent sized bar where they make some good cocktails!

Decided to come here to have solo birthday dinner last minute, I walked-in Ordered crispy chicken sandwich (10/10): Portion is generous, not your basic bar food quality. Chicken is crispy, juicy and fresh. Everything is well-balanced. Bartender Ben made me a gin cocktail with St Germain, drinks are nice, not watered down Service is really nice and warmth, great hospitality. Didn't need to wait for a long time, got seated fast. Would definitely come back again!

I will dine at a Hillstone establishment any day :) The Honor Bar is a quick way to grab a bite of some of Hillstone's staples. Love that if you don't want anything too heavy they also offer sushi. Great spot to meet up with a friend for a quick catch up! Service is always great.

I have no complaints! I stopped by after work and had a glass of wine and the chicken sandwich. You're probably thinking "chicken sandwich?" But trust me it's delicious!!! Bread is buttered, chicken crispy, great portion, and perfect balance of savory and fresh. I sat at the bar and they constantly checked to see if I was good or needed anything. This little place does get packed so be prepared for a slight wait if you don't have a reservation. I was by myself and got seated fairly quickly.

Ask the Community - The Honor Bar

Is your food the same as the Beverly Grill, particularly the hamburger?

I think the burger is available in both places but Honor Bar has very limited menu, S.B.G. has a full menu

    Do you take dinner reservations?

South Beverly Grill does next door but Honor Bar I believe you have to check in with hostess to get on waiting list.

Is the bread for sandwiches made in house? If not, what brand is it?

Hi Jon, we bake all of our own bread at the restaurant.

    Do you allow dogs?

No, I don't believe they do.

    Do you have Happy Hour?

    NO THEY DO NOT

    Do you have outdoor dining?

No, only indoor seating. The only time they had outdoor seating was during the pandemic.

Whats the biggest party that can be seated at a table?

Pre covid I believe It was 5. Since covid I haven't been there so I don't really know. I would think the same though.

Can I order takeout without going through chow now? It's really annoying.

Yes! We are so sorry ChowNow hasn't gone smoothly for you...you are welcome to call us anytime to place an order. We really appreciate it!

How are they operating during COVID?

    Terrific

    Is the veggie burger vegan?

Don't think the bun is vegan.

Why don't you have French fries for take out during pandemic?

I know! I called them and asked and they simply said we're not serving French fries

Do they take reservations for lunch?

Hi Eric, we do not take reservations at the Honor Bar.

Do you offer happy hour food/drinks specials?

Hi Danielle, we do not offer any happy hour or specials at this time.

Do you show WWE or other pro-wrestling?

Every Monday night for RAW and on Sundays it's SMACKDOWN. You'll catch me there BOTH nights.

    Can you smoke cigars here?

Hi Michael, we don't have an area that allows for cigar smoking at this time.

The caviar omakase is the must order thing here. Everything is very small bites, but if you are mostly there for drinks then à la carte is a good option. The omakase was fantastic - nice sized portions of caviar, paired with thoughtful items like a mini lobster roll, a salmon burger, and even ice cream. The drinks are also delightful - you can taste the notes of every ingredient and nothing was too overpowering or unbalanced. But the service is by far the main reason we'll be back. The staff are incredibly welcoming and friendly, on top of being knowledgeable and presenting the menu in a well practiced way. They made this birthday dinner so special and went above and beyond. They do automatically add gratuity but I would've tipped more than that if possible. We ended up at the Maybourne Bar in the Maybourne hotel, a solid B+ lobby bar that I'd visit again under similar circumstances. The space was attractive but the vibe was strange, if not uncomfortable. Just weirdly bright lighting and a different crowd from the usual L.A. bar scene (hotel, Beverly Hills). It was pretty quiet at 10:00 on a Saturday night, and we were able to grab seats at the bar. Service was fast and polite. We ordered a Midas Touch and a Big in Japan, both decent cocktails that cost a full $30 apiece. The Midas Touch was a colorful spicy margarita with El Tesoro Maybourne Edition Reposado, Empirical Ayuuk, Grand Marnier Louis Alexandre, saffron, lemon, and honey. Big in Japan was a Gold Rush variation with Hibiki Harmony, sudachi honey, lemon, sansho pepper, and yuzu bitters. There are better, more interesting cocktail bars all over L.A., but I'd recommend the Maybourne Bar if you're staying at the hotel or otherwise looking for an upscale bar in downtown Beverly Hills. You can get food, too, though most of it seems to involve caviar.

I hate that I can't remember my server's name because he was phenomenal. I don't drink alcohol, but he recommended a few mocktails that were absolutely delicious. He also guided almost all of our food and dessert choices, and every recommendation was spot on. I originally made a reservation for indoor seating, but since it was such a beautiful day, we decided to sit outside by the pool. It ended up being the perfect choice. There atmosphere was relaxing, the noise level made conversation easy, and the view was beautiful. For food, we ordered the Pappardelle al Ragù, which was delicious. The pasta itself was perfectly cooked with great flavor. I wouldn't have minded a little more protein, but it was still a really enjoyable dish. We also had the Little Gem Caesar with chicken, a classic done exceptionally well. The standout, however, was the Diavola pizza. The combination of spicy soppressata with the honey drizzle was absolutely top tier, and the soft, airy crust brought everything together perfectly. It was easily my favorite dish of the meal. To drink, we had a couple of non alcoholic Cosmojitos, which were refreshing, flavorful, and a great complement to the meal. We closed out the evening with the homemade carrot cake, and wow it was the cake of my dreams. Perfectly moist, incredibly flavorful, and just the right level of sweetness without being overpowering. It was the perfect ending to an already fantastic meal. Overall, this was an outstanding dining experience with exceptional service, delicious food, and a beautiful ambiance. We came to Matū for the Dinner for Two, and everything we were served was impeccable. The seasoning was spot on, the salt level was perfect, and every cut of meat was cooked beautifully. I'm a big fan of my steak on the rarer side, and Matū absolutely delivered. The braised beef cheek was probably the highlight of the night for me. It was unbelievably tender, rich, and one of the most memorable bites of the meal. After finishing the Dinner for Two, which really showcased the quality of the meat, we decided to split a cheesesteak since "that's what they're known for." When it arrived, it looked incredible. Unfortunately, that's where the excitement ended for me. The meat tasted oddly oily. I'm not sure if it was the cut, the preparation, or even the cheese, but it came across as heavy and greasy compared to the beautifully simple, clean flavors of the steak dinner. It was also underseasoned, and I found myself tasting the sesame seeds on the bread more than the filling itself. The chips were fresh and crunchy at first, but they lost their texture surprisingly quickly, so eat those immediately. Overall, I absolutely loved the steaks, sides, and cocktails, and I'll happily be back for those. But as for the cheesesteak? Once was more than enough.

Matu is a dream for meat lovers, with a menu centred entirely around Australian wagyu. Nothing…read moreshowcases that commitment better than the Matu dinner ($87 per person; minimum 2 persons), a multi-course meal that highlights different cuts of the cow in every single dish. Things begin with a 24-hour bone broth shooter, looking like a glass of gravy but tasting like concentrated umami. Rich, warm, and deeply comforting, it's remarkable how delicious it is despite containing only broth. The steak tartare follows with freshly chopped beef, egg yolk, and what the menu describes as a "Japanese accent," possibly togarashi. Whatever the seasoning blend is, it works beautifully. The tartare is incredibly flavourful despite its minimalist presentation. Thin, lightly toasted crostini accompany it without overpowering the beef, though I did ask for extra slices just to finish every bite. The eight-hour braised beef cheek was one of my favourite courses. So tender and moist that you could practically eat it with a spoon, the richness is balanced by a silky celeriac purée that ties everything together beautifully. It's the kind of dish that immediately makes you want another serving. Even their '47' salad leans heavily into the restaurant's beef-first philosophy, featuring more steak than greens. The 3-ounce centre-cut filet was impressively tender for such a lean cut, and although it arrived rarer than I'd typically order, it worked perfectly. At Matu, diners aren't asked how they'd like their steak cooked. The kitchen prepares it to the chef's specifications, trusting the quality of the beef and their technique. As for the romaine leaves underneath, they're coated in a signature dressing that tastes remarkably similar to Caesar, despite being made without dairy or eggs, then finished with a generous showering of Parmigiano. After all that beef, you'd think sharing a 12-ounce ribeye would feel excessive. Somehow, it didn't. The steak is prepared simply, allowing the quality of the wagyu to speak for itself, with crispy grilled broccolini providing a garlicky contrast alongside it. A small dish of salt is presented at the beginning of the meal, though Matu intentionally keeps the seasoning restrained. Personally, I appreciated the lighter touch and never felt the need to add more. Dessert arrives in the form of Scott's flourless chocolate cake ($12), dense and rich without being overly sweet beyond a dusting of powdered sugar. After an entire menu devoted to beef, I almost found myself jokingly wondering whether wagyu somehow made its way into dessert too.
