I met a couple friends at the Beverly Hills Hotel to eat dinner at the Polo Lounge. There is a dress code here so make sure you check their website for details. We had reservations and were immediately seated in a booth out in the covered patio area. A delicous bread basket was placed at our table right away. The menu is relatively small but encompasses a variety of options. I decided on the rigatoni bolognese. The pasta was al dente and there was plenty of flavorful braised beef ragu throughout. A side of Parmesan cheese was provided to sprinkle as much as I wanted. This was a great dish but it didn't "wow" me; I was somehow expecting something more. During my meal I had a coffee with cream, which was exceptional. Service was initially friendly and good but then she vanished into thin air. Eventually one of my friends had to tap her on the shoulder while she was standing nearby to get the bill. A live singer/pianist was performing in the interior dining area with the sound being piped out to the patio. Initially it was so loud through the overhead speakers that we couldn't even have a conversation but we finally had staff turn down the volume without any fuss. Restaurant restrooms are in the hotel lobby and are kept immaculate. Valet parking is $22 at the time of this review. read more

Truthfully? This place is a tourist trap or money trap let's call it. I give it 2 stars for trying and for actually staying in business. The servers are crazy inattentive. They will disappear for 20 minutes and not check in on you at all. The host was rude. Sat and waited 45 minutes for our patio table even though we had specially reserved it. They said they were full even though we arrived right on time for our reservation. That's just unacceptable, especially for a place that costs as much as this place. The food is ok, but surprisingly the main the worst part. It could have been from dennys and fooled me. The appetizer and dessert were good but still not worth the $220 brunch prie fix meal with automatic tipping included. They knew they were gonna get tipped anyways so they treated us pretty poorly even though we were all dressed appropriately. Sure the ambiance is nice but so is just eating at any patio in LA. Things also did look a bit old and used which I get because it's an old hotel but Just beware. Maybe a once in a lifetime thing but I don't plan on returning! Friends agreed. read more

An absolute disappointment from what was supposed to be a special celebration with my daughter. We were celebrating my daughter's high school transition to her senior year, and I arrived dressed in what I considered an elegant Kimberly Taylor two-piece skirt and top set. At 57 years old, I know how to dress appropriately and with class. I was shocked and embarrassed when I was stopped at the restaurant check in entrance and told I needed to cover approximately four inches of midriff with a jacket. What made the experience even more insulting was the inconsistency. After complying and entering, I immediately saw younger guests wearing outfits that were far more revealing than mine, including exposed cleavage and significantly more skin. Apparently the rules only apply to certain people. Being publicly corrected during such a meaningful celebration with my daughter cast a shadow over the entire experience. Unfortunately, the disappointment continued. The setting felt overrated, the food was mediocre, and nothing about the experience justified the reputation or price. Los Angeles offers far more gracious and beautiful experiences. Hotel Bel-Air, for example, delivered elegance, warmth, and hospitality that the Polo Lounge simply lacked. What should have been a treasured memory became an embarrassing one. I will not return, and I cannot recommend this establishment to others seeking sophisticated service and consistent treatment of their guests. read more

The Polo Lounge has been on my wish list for a while and I'm so glad I finally experienced it! Driving up Valet will greet you and give you a ticket. The restaurant will validate and parking cost is $15. We sat inside and were able to enjoy the piano music being played. There are old black and white photos of all the history on the walls and throughout hotel as well. We ordered the tuna tartar , crab cake, ceaser with salmon and the chocolate soufflé. Everything was delicious and I very much enjoyed the bread basket! The service was amazing and it was one of the best dinning experiences I've ever had. I have been a regular here for over a decade, and it remains a personal favorite for its unparalleled history, ambiance, and service. Situated inside the legendary Beverly Hills Hotel, famously known as the Pink Palace, the Polo Lounge is steeped in Hollywood lore. Marilyn Monroe was a frequent guest, embodying the glamour of old Hollywood. The restaurant is considered expensive relative to standard fare, yet the exquisite service, refined atmosphere, and overall experience justify every dollar. Many people will think the prices are so outrageous, but you are paying for more than just the food. I visited the lounge after my graduation as it is located 2-3 mins away from my house and this was my experience and observations. As usual the hotel always treats me as if I was at a 4 seasons Hotel. On arrival your ride-share would drop you off in front of the entrance at the red carpet and if you drive, valet will take your car, which can be validated at the end and the total cost will be $22 after validation. Dress code: Anything chic, no hats permitted with the exception of the ladies. I was told years ago no shorts or sneakers but trust me I've seen plenty of men in short shorts and sneakers. No ripped jeans, no open toes shoes for men. You see where i'm going, more restrictions for men. Just go there and tell them you're a lady so they let you in jjk Seating: You have the option to sit at the bar, which can accommodate maybe a dozen people. Or indoor and/or outside on the patio. Ambiance & Decor: It's a very chilled vibe, with old Hollywood charms. It's not your typical modern lounge. Instead it screams old luxurious money. Kinda reminds me of Erica Jaynes old house in Pasadena. Old with lots of characters if that makes sense. There's also live piano until 3PM inside. Outside on the patio, you have a lush or greenery, giving you South of France or Spain vibes. There's a friendly Hamster name Beverly that always comes by. Keep it mind Beverly likes breads & nuts. She doesn't like seafood or shellfish almost like she is allergic to them. Don't waste your shrimp or meat creating more work for staff to clean. Services: This is where this restaurant shines. While The Fountain Coffee Room located next door is being renovated I thought services would've been slow. Since there's only one choice. I was proven wrong. Before we can sit at the bar while waiting for our table, we were told that our patio table was ready. Foods and drinks came out quicker than we expected. Staff are very friendly. Shout out to Michelle and everyone else. Foods: Although I prefer my food to be more seasoned. You can tell the burger has quality meat and big enough to share unless you wanna take the rest to go in their signature pink box. For everything else there's nothing a little bit of salt & pepper can't fix. Drinks are on another lever. I'm not sure where they found those bartenders, but one thing for sure for someone who doesn't really drink, I enjoy their cocktails. Things to keep in mind: 1) Some areas maybe restricted due to wedding or other events photoshoots. 2) You might see flies around this is normal for us, 3) It's worth waiting at the bar for a seat on the patio. 4) Portions are rather huge so order accordingly. 5) ask staff to validate your parking as your server may not tell you that you can get it validated. 6) take lots of pictures 7) be respectful and tips your servers and the valet. I've finally grown up, and am ready for the Polo Lounge! Who am I kidding, I finally saved enough to walk past The Cabana Cafe and The Fountain Room (which are fantastic in their own right) to make my way over to the restaurant on the same floor as the entrance to The Beverly Hills Hotel. I've been looking forward to this for years. Reservations for lunch are tough to get; online you'll see availability during the day, but when I went to check back in the evening, there was nothing between 10:30a and 5p. Figure I would chance it by being a walk-in. Greeted pleasantly at the hostess stand, I took a seat at the small bar where there were already a few people eating lunch. The dining room was a little less than half full around 12:15p. Service started off slowly but was very pleasant with 'Baldimir'. I went with a blueberry peach fizz (non-alcoholic, $18) and the McCarthy salad minus beets and eggs. The bread basket was really good; one can almost become full off of this alone but it was a nice accompaniment to the rest of the lunch. The salad looks so perfect upon presentation, and they offer to mix it for you which I permitted. Although I'm glad I finally had my chance to try this classic dish, I do mentally kick myself for paying $46 for a salad. I clearly know where I am so the price is expected, but I had the opportunity, and I figured I might as well do it now before it gets to $50+. I admit I saw some other options on the menu I'd like to try but for now, I'm happy I finally had my chance to come to the famed Polo Lounge to try their popular McCarthy salad. read more

Had lunch with my nieces two weeks ago to celebrate a birthday. It was my first time here after wanting to come here for many years. The hotel is historic with a lot of original designs. The Polo Lounge has the old Hollywood charm. It feels like you stepped back in time. The patio seating is tight, a bit too crowded for me but we still enjoyed our time here sipping on our coffee and enjoying our food. The food was delicious. I loved their club sandwich, it was like no other. The salad we ordered and shared was refreshing and good. The bread basket they bring was lovely. The beef bolognese was rich and a bit heavy for lunch so I would say it's more of a dinner dish. The coffee was good and the chocolate soufflé was amazing. The prices are on the higher side but don't forget you are in Beverly Hills at the Beverly Hills Hotel. It's worth the experience. We had a wonderful time. Enjoyed every moment of our lunch. I started with the crab avocado toast which was really good, honestly everything was great such an amazing place for a brunch. I had a good experience here. I came for my friend's birthday and it's very bougie so expect complementary prices. We actually ordered a lot of food and I was a big fan of the lemon blueberry ricotta pancakes as well as the huevos rancheros. I got a strawberry banana, honey yogurt smoothie which tasted kind of normal. I was also a fan of the waffles, breakfast meats (I got bacon and sausage), and the omelette. The service was spectacular and they came out with these lattes with our faces on them, which was very cute. I would come back on a special occasion, but you're paying for the ambience. The chocolate soufflé was my favorite thing as it's very rich and piping hot but it's the perfect way to end your meal. Peaches and Gorgonzola salad: superb salad. Peaches were fresh and sweet. Combined with arugula , Gorgonzola blue, caramalized pecans, and perfectly dressed with vinaigrette. Yummy. Must order 2. Rigatoni Bolognese: braised beef Ragu with chive. Was ok. Have had better. Wish they would have used the big thick rigatoni instead. 3. Spaghetti with olive oil and citrus base. Assortment of fresh asparagus, cherry tomatoes, olives and zucchini. Spectacular. This was not on the menu but was specially requested by our server and it was splendid. 4. Had my usual ole fashion. I can't comment on food or value as we drove for almost an hour through heavy LA traffic to make our reservation as we were celebrating our 39th wedding anniversary. The hostessinformed us that our table was being prepared and to sit down by atrium entrance to wait. As soon as we sat down, a waitress approached us and denied us entry due to an opening at the knees in my wife's pants. I understand that their dress code policy is no torn denims. But, my wife's pants were neither denim nor ripped. It litterally devastated my wife, who is disabled, walks with a cane, and needs those knee openings to be able to walk. We truly believed that Polo Lounge would be ADA compliant. But, I guess not. And all my wife will remember now about our wedding anniversary is how she was embarrassed and humiliated at the Polo Lounge. Just sad. read more

I was lucky enough to attend tea time for a pre birthday celebration, and the whole experience felt special from start to finish. Attended the Polo Lounge for a friends birthday brunch. First off the prefix brunch menu is 165 dollars inclusive of one alcohol beverage, starter, entree, and dessert. You have to put your entire order in up front, which wasn't a problem. The problem was that. The problem came in when it took about 30 minutes to bring out the starters, then another 20 mins for entree mind you our reservation was 11:45. Our waitress barely came back to check on us. They brought the soup to the table no spoons had to wait until someone passed by our table to try and get help. To start I selected the Ahi Tuna Tartare. I loved the addition of the yuzu ponzu and the substantial portion. I kept with the seafood theme with the Lobster 'Rolls Royce' as my main. It was stuffed to the brim with succulent Maine lobster. I rounded it out with the Wild Berries & Flowers, their cheesecake. I had to take it home because I was full but it was just as fresh and floral the next day. This is a special experience for sure. All of the food was very well prepared and left very happy. I felt the quality of their service has dropped quite a lot The plates lack attention to detail, and the flavors were bland and pretty much tasteless. But, to my surprise, the food was actually the highlight of this establishment. Unfortunately, it was also very expensive. While food was great, I personally feel it is overpriced. $48 for a crab cake doesn't make sense, considering you can get a great crab cake somewhere else for much less. Ambiance is just decent. It has a classic Hollywood, polo equestrian vibe but somehow it felt quite plain and also outdated. And service was cordial and professional yet also transactional. Food though was very good. Every dish had great flavors and quality tasted fresh. We ordered salmon and tuna tartare to start and they were both delicious and savory. For entrees, we ordered branzino and filet mignon. Went on a Monday without reservations. Parking=about $25 Meal for two=$280 tip and drinks included. Our bartender (Mikey) treated us with much respect and attention to detail. Absolutely love this restaurant! We sat outside on the patio on the most perfect day. I had made reservations about a month earlier and would have preferred a booth to get some shade but the booths were taken. The booths were definitely reserved for the regulars (the fabulous "ladies who lunch") and they were able to put up an umbrella that worked perfectly. Alex was our server and he was wonderful! We had a couple cocktails and ate on the bread basket and enjoyed the ambiance and didn't feel rushed. We ordered our food and ended up taking it to go. They gave cute to go bags and put our leftovers away for us. Food review: The Mccarthay salad lived up to its hype! They did a half order for me and I asked if there were any common modifications. I ended up only adding extra cheese and it was the right choice! Steak and frites were fantastic! Previous reviews said that the idea of rare/medium rare/medium were all more undercooked than ordered. We ordered well done and it came out as medium well. Reviews were correct! There is a delicious truffle aioli with the really thin fries. Alex gave us a free slice of cake for our celebration and made it really special for us.
