The Polo Lounge is one of my favorite restaurants in all of Los Angeles. The Polo Lounge is one of Los Angeles' and, more specifically, Beverly Hills' most iconic restaurants. I have been a regular here for over a decade, and it remains a personal favorite for its unparalleled history, ambiance, and service. Situated inside the legendary Beverly Hills Hotel, famously known as the Pink Palace, the Polo Lounge is steeped in Hollywood lore. Marilyn Monroe was a frequent guest, embodying the glamour of old Hollywood. The restaurant is considered expensive relative to standard fare, yet the exquisite service, refined atmosphere, and overall experience justify every dollar. Many people will think the prices are so outrageous, but you are paying for more than just the food. Over the years, I have seen Madonna, Cameron Diaz, Jimmy Fallon, Terrence Howard and many famous and influential people dine here. Fallon and Howard have even greeted me personally on multiple occasions, remembering our previous encounters. The Manager Pepe De Anda, who has been with the Polo Lounge for decade's oversees operations with meticulous attention. He consistently accommodates my reservations, even when the restaurant is fully booked, ensuring a seamless and personalized experience. The menu is exceptional, with every item carefully crafted. Signature cocktails, the McCarthy Salad, and the chocolate soufflé are standout offerings. The soufflé, in particular, is extraordinary without exaggeration, it's probably the best dessert in all of Los Angeles. . Parking is valet-only, and reservations can be secured by phone or online. Due to the restaurant's popularity, advance booking is essential. I would say you need to book at least 2 weeks and maybe even 4 weeks in advance depending on what time and date. Weekends being busier. A unique aspect of the Polo Lounge is its diverse clientele: at any given time, you might see a billionaire, an A-list Hollywood celebrity, and an everyday diner sharing the same space. I've finally grown up, and am ready for the Polo Lounge! Who am I kidding, I finally saved enough to walk past The Cabana Cafe and The Fountain Room (which are fantastic in their own right) to make my way over to the restaurant on the same floor as the entrance to The Beverly Hills Hotel. I've been looking forward to this for years. Reservations for lunch are tough to get; online you'll see availability during the day, but when I went to check back in the evening, there was nothing between 10:30a and 5p. Figure I would chance it by being a walk-in. Greeted pleasantly at the hostess stand, I took a seat at the small bar where there were already a few people eating lunch. The dining room was a little less than half full around 12:15p. Service started off slowly but was very pleasant with 'Baldimir'. I went with a blueberry peach fizz (non-alcoholic, $18) and the McCarthy salad minus beets and eggs. The bread basket was really good; one can almost become full off of this alone but it was a nice accompaniment to the rest of the lunch. The salad looks so perfect upon presentation, and they offer to mix it for you which I permitted. Although I'm glad I finally had my chance to try this classic dish, I do mentally kick myself for paying $46 for a salad. I clearly know where I am so the price is expected, but I had the opportunity, and I figured I might as well do it now before it gets to $50+. I admit I saw some other options on the menu I'd like to try but for now, I'm happy I finally had my chance to come to the famed Polo Lounge to try their popular McCarthy salad. read more

Had lunch with my nieces two weeks ago to celebrate a birthday. It was my first time here after wanting to come here for many years. The hotel is historic with a lot of original designs. The Polo Lounge has the old Hollywood charm. It feels like you stepped back in time. The patio seating is tight, a bit too crowded for me but we still enjoyed our time here sipping on our coffee and enjoying our food. The food was delicious. I loved their club sandwich, it was like no other. The salad we ordered and shared was refreshing and good. The bread basket they bring was lovely. The beef bolognese was rich and a bit heavy for lunch so I would say it's more of a dinner dish. The coffee was good and the chocolate soufflé was amazing. The prices are on the higher side but don't forget you are in Beverly Hills at the Beverly Hills Hotel. It's worth the experience. We had a wonderful time. Enjoyed every moment of our lunch. Actually the most beautiful restaurant with the most beautiful ambiance ever!! Everything was so gorgeous the further you went through the hotel the prettier everything got! I started with the crab avocado toast which was really good, honestly everything was great such an amazing place for a brunch. My burger was really good but it was pretty filling especially with the appetizer and dessert. I got the key lime pie which was really limey but the banana cream was delicious and they gave us a cute bday cake too which was pretty good! I was lucky enough to attend tea time for a pre birthday celebration, and the whole experience felt special from start to finish. It is definitely pricey, but that is part of the deal here, and the attentive service and classic ambience do a good job of justifying the cost. We orders the Linguini Vongole, Fish & Chips, and Soufflé to share. Everything was on point. The linguini was flavorful and cooked perfectly. Checked it out for dinner with a friend who was in town. Had a very kind and knowledgeable server who was able to perfectly plan our courses. Here's what we tried tonight: 1. Peaches and Gorgonzola salad: superb salad. Peaches were fresh and sweet. Combined with arugula , Gorgonzola blue, caramalized pecans, and perfectly dressed with vinaigrette. Yummy. Must order 2. Rigatoni Bolognese: braised beef Ragu with chive. Was ok. Have had better. Wish they would have used the big thick rigatoni instead. 3. Spaghetti with olive oil and citrus base. Assortment of fresh asparagus, cherry tomatoes, olives and zucchini. Spectacular. This was not on the menu but was specially requested by our server and it was splendid. 4. Had my usual ole fashion. My friend had a specialty cocktail but can't remember the name at the moment. 5. Chocolate soufflé: of course had to try the signature soufflé. And of course it was delicious. I visited the Beverly Hills Hotel PL around 10:45 - 11 PM and asked for a table. The host, Gabriel, told me they were closing in 10 minutes and couldn't seat me. Yet when my two white friends joined me, the story changed--they suddenly had 30 minutes and found us a table by the door stating he could only seat that table. When my 4th white friend who joined asked for a better table, Gabriel easily accommodated them. The disparity in treatment was glaring, and it felt discriminatory. To start I selected the Ahi Tuna Tartare. I loved the addition of the yuzu ponzu and the substantial portion. I kept with the seafood theme with the Lobster 'Rolls Royce' as my main. It was stuffed to the brim with succulent Maine lobster. I rounded it out with the Wild Berries & Flowers, their cheesecake. I had to take it home because I was full but it was just as fresh and floral the next day. This is a special experience for sure. All of the food was very well prepared and left very happy. I felt the quality of their service has dropped quite a lot The plates lack attention to detail, and the flavors were bland and pretty much tasteless. The hotel itself is beautiful and this restaurant also has very nice ambience to it but I knock off 2 stars because the food is just incredibly mid for what you pay. Service can be hit or miss as they can have attitude sometimes. I stopped coming for the food and just come for the soufflés. The s'mores one was really good! Enjoyed my brunch experience here throughly from the beginning to end on a Sunday in September. I visited with a family member as a late birthday present and can honestly say the three course meal was so delicious. The salad dish tasted so fresh, my lobster roll was filling and good and the dessert was the best part of my meal! Went on a Monday without reservations. Parking=about $25 Meal for two=$280 tip and drinks included. Our bartender (Mikey) treated us with much respect and attention to detail. Our cocktails were made to perfection, keeping a great balance in flavors. The salmon here is one of the best ones I have tried in a restaurant. But, to my surprise, the food was actually the highlight of this establishment. Unfortunately, it was also very expensive. While food was great, I personally feel it is overpriced. $48 for a crab cake doesn't make sense, considering you can get a great crab cake somewhere else for much less. Ambiance is just decent. It has a classic Hollywood, polo equestrian vibe but somehow it felt quite plain and also outdated. And service was cordial and professional yet also transactional. Food though was very good. Every dish had great flavors and quality tasted fresh. We ordered salmon and tuna tartare to start and they were both delicious and savory. For entrees, we ordered branzino and filet mignon. Absolutely love this restaurant! We sat outside on the patio on the most perfect day. I had made reservations about a month earlier and would have preferred a booth to get some shade but the booths were taken. The booths were definitely reserved for the regulars (the fabulous "ladies who lunch") and they were able to put up an umbrella that worked perfectly. Alex was our server and he was wonderful! We had a couple cocktails and ate on the bread basket and enjoyed the ambiance and didn't feel rushed. We ordered our food and ended up taking it to go. They gave cute to go bags and put our leftovers away for us. Food review: The Mccarthay salad lived up to its hype! They did a half order for me and I asked if there were any common modifications. I ended up only adding extra cheese and it was the right choice! Steak and frites were fantastic! Previous reviews said that the idea of rare/medium rare/medium were all more undercooked than ordered. We ordered well done and it came out as medium well. Reviews were correct! There is a delicious truffle aioli with the really thin fries. Alex gave us a free slice of cake for our celebration and made it really special for us. I lived in Beverly Hills and didn't even dine here until I was ready to move, because I had a preconceived notion that it was passe. But truly it is not. The outdoor ambience (if you choose that) is spectacular, with all of BH's tree charm shading you. The waiters/waitresses are used to both celebs and tourists alike booking here, and treats them none the different. Even as a tourist you will be treated equitably. Originally opened in 1941 the Polo Lounge is one of the most famous restaurants in Los Angeles. Countless important people and celebrities have eaten here over the years and you can really tell that the walls have seen a lot of history. As many other reviewers will mention this place is hard to beat in terms of atmosphere. It's located inside the classy Beverly Hills Hotel in beautiful Beverly Hills. It's formal but more business casual, and the sort of place that would be really fun to bring a date. It is very lively and not the sort of place for kids as they have a full service bar and lots of people dressing up, chatting, and is almost high energy. It's very large on the inside and designed well in a classic California style. There are many different seating sections such as the bar area, the main dining room (which is my favorite), and outdoor seating. There is no self parking available so it will be valet parking for $22. The initial charge is $25 but if you get your ticket validated it drops it to $22. Our waitress was very polite and everything that we ordered came out pretty fast. The only downside to this restaurant is the exorbitant pricing. Everything here is priced more than you will pay even in coastal Santa Monica. That being said it's very hard to budget a meal here and is best used for a place to celebrate or just grab a few drinks. There are many famous dishes here and it's always hard to choose what to order. For this visit, we started with the Tortilla Soup and the McCarthy Salad. The Tortilla Soup was very good, almost had a roasted flavor to it, but I enjoyed it very much. The McCarthy Salad is also very famous and is definitely one of the best chop salads that I've ever had. I think it's probably the third most famous salad from Los Angeles after the Cobb and the La Scala Chopped. For my entrée, I chose the Branzino Fillet Unilateral accompanied with fregola sarda, roasted heirloom cherry tomatoes, zante currants, pine nuts, lemon caper sauce. I honestly really enjoyed it and thought it was a good sized portion. It was a large fillet, had great flavors, and was cooked perfectly. Finally for dessert I ordered their famous Soufflé and I decided to do a chocolate and vanilla combination, which I would highly recommend. It's honestly one of the best Soufflés that I've ever had. Everything about this place is amazing except the pricing. I would recommend to anyone searching for a special occasion lunch or dinner spot and obviously to anyone who is staying at the Beverly Hills Hotel. It's not the sort of place to go if you have a tight budget, but I believe that everyone should dine at this place at least once. read more

I'd been waiting for the perfect excuse to visit the iconic Polo Lounge, and it finally came when I won a gift certificate for lunch at a silent auction fundraiser (it was the most sought-after item!). From start to finish, the experience was enchanting. Pulling up to the valet at the legendary Beverly Hills Hotel set the tone, followed by a stroll through the elegant lobby before being escorted to our table in the Polo Lounge. The ambiance was pure old Hollywood charm. I began my meal with the Pretty in Pink cocktail, which was almost too beautiful to drink. We started with a salad (chopped tableside, though I can't recall which one), and then moved on to the pan-roasted Scottish salmon and Wagyu burger. Both dishes were flawless--perfectly cooked and bursting with flavor. Though we were thoroughly satisfied by then, we couldn't resist ordering two desserts to take home. It was a sweet finale to an already perfect meal. Will we be back? Without a doubt! I'm already brainstorming ways to make this an annual tradition with friends. read more

Forgive me Lord, but afaik, they overcharged us by ~$15. It's about $150 for lunch plus $27 + tip for parking (if and only if you remember to ask for a parking validation). No, odds are, you won't see anybody famous. The food is very good. The place feels dated. The piano music is supposed to be soft and pleasant, however, imho, it was far too loud, almost jarring, even though we were seated a good distance away. I've been there hardly often, but from time to time over the years. I feel that it's just not the pinnacle of places to go anymore. And, to the best of my knowledge, we were overcharged. (we were in a hurry, I didn't ask for a bill or receipt) but unless a non-alcoholic plain soft drink is $32 (maybe it is) they overcharged us.
