I will admit it. I am an avid Francophile. I love France, everything about it. And, I love the Riviera, the Côte d'Azur, Nice, Cannes, the vibes of the South there and much of the cuisine. As you all know by now, I am a lifelong vegetarian, so there are things on some French menus that I do not eat. But, at the gorgeous and genteel Azur, there were enough items to choose from that I smiled when I read about them. View my pictures to see what they were. So, what is to love and why do I want you to visit the minute you can? First, Azur is conveniently located on one of Beverly Hills' best streets, right next to a large, clean parking garage that offers two hours of free parking. Second, as you approach the front of the restaurant, a lovely hostess greets you and escorts you to your table, so you feel appreciated the moment you arrive. The outside patio is charming, but once inside, the warmth and glowing beauty of the decor will transport you immediately to the South of France. It is all 1960s bohemian luxury, relaxing and uplifting at the same time. Every detail shows thought and an elevated aesthetic. It is simply a pleasure just to sit back and soak in the French Art de Vivre, the pure joy of living in a culture that not only knows how to revel in it themselves, but has perfected bringing along whoever steps in as well. Our servers, Sophia and Austin remind me of the professional staff that takes care of diners in Europe. It isn't just a job, it's a platform for showing care and nurturing patrons. Preparing food is an art in France and I truly appreciated their friendly expertise. There was also a singer who softly offered French songs from that era, providing a truly authentic atmosphere. Every dish was superb. It was all obviously made in-house. There were little touches that I believe raise this restaurant to a high level, even amid so many other wonderful spots in the area. For example, absolutely delicious pesto, home made breads, roasted crisp potatoes that gleamed like mosaic glass, a soup resplendent with flawlessly simmered fresh vegetables, smooth Capuccinos that slipped down like velvet, and one of the best, most realistic Crème Brûlées I have had in ages -- a true custard with a signature dusting of lavender petals, again, a hallmark of France itself. The weekend manager, Igor, was the ultimate host. He came to our table several times, which only amplified our sense that every detail and every patron matters at Azur. We chatted with him briefly and, when I got home, there in my inbox was a warm thank you note from the restaurant. Who wouldn't want to return after all this? There are famous French restaurants everywhere. I have been to many of them here and abroad. Yet, I cannot remember one that I have enjoyed more than Azur. I'm very disappointed with my experience here. The food was extremely bland, and nothing about it felt special or memorable. The presentation was also very poor--the plating looked unappealing, and unfortunately, the taste was just as disappointing. What made the experience even worse was being charged $99 for just four oysters, which felt completely unreasonable for what we received. The food was flawed but in general, very good. We ordered an excellent burrata salad but the beef tartare was good but at $34 it was served with cold, rubbery potato chips . Azur replaced the chips with fresh ones but the original batch should never have left the kitchen. The atmosphere was beautiful and the live music was enjoyable. The biggest flaw was the service. The server, though pleasant, disappeared for 45 min and it took that long to receive cocktails. The lack of good service followed us home. The fish main course was well prepared but I ate very little of it so I asked to have it boxed. BUT unfortunately, they mixed up the order and sent home another diner's left overs. The restaurant's interior was very aesthetic and upscale. I ended up ordering the Pesto Pasta and initially when it came out, it didn't look like a lot of pasta. But then when I started digging in, the portion of the pasta was plenty! I was definitely full afterwards and had to take the rest home. I wish my attached photo of me smiling was for my experience here, but not quite. Cute vibe inside, service could've been better though. It took a while each time for our server (I don't remember her name) to come get our drink and food orders. We had to constantly ask for her. Refills were not given in a timely manner nor were we checked on just to ensure the food was okay (which it wasn't). Another staff member, Hugo, noticed each delay in service so he stepped up without hesitation and without being asked to assist us. He was aware of our needs before we were able to verbalize them. He was great ALL night so we tipped him and would've preferred our already included tip to go to him (especially since we were there for a birthday dinner and the birthday girl was unhappy about her experience). I ordered the spaghettini au Homard, which I had such high hopes for, but was very disappointed with how bland it was. Someone else ordered this at our table and agreed. The rigatoni au Ragoût de Boeuf was said to be mid. The gigli aux truffes was a much better option, but still wasn't great. I opted out of eating anything else and left unsatisfied. Azur Beverly Hills is a restaurant offering cuisine of the Côte d'Azur, or French Riviera. Located on the east side of Beverly Hills, Azur offers very high quality food, impeccable service, and a trendy upscale atmosphere at appropriately upscale prices. I brought my family including three children on Memorial Day. We were greeted and seated promptly. The hostess and waiter welcomed us, made recommendations, and showed us the specials. It is perhaps a little usual for an upscale restaurant like this to get young children but the hospitality team was very welcoming, sharing a kids option (not on the menu) and making suggestions for portion sizes. We started with the pain ($12, bread) which included several pieces of fresh baked bread with good variety and creamy butter. The kids pasta ($22) was an absolutely perfect butter noodles with al dente pasta. It feels odd saying this but this is probably the best buttered pasta the kids and I ever had. Following was the Seabass special ($160) a whole fish and side salad (see photo). The fish was cooked perfectly, buttery, soft, and carved tableside. Here is where the service really took off however: the waitstaff, delighted by our children and noticing their trepidation looking at a whole fish with beady eyes, welcomed our two older daughters to carve the fish themselves, walking them through the process and leading to some adorable photos. The asparagus ($12) side was great as well. The interior is upscale and breezy, appropriate for the cuisine, and impeccably clean. While the final price tab for the evening ($300 including drinks and tip) is high, it is not too out of touch from what one would expect for this level of haute cuisine in Beverly Hills. I do not see many reviews for Azur - is it the noveau French in Beverly? If so, bienvenue! I tried this new French restaurant in Beverly Hills for my friend's birthday dinner and our experience here was good. The interior was beautiful and clean with both outdoor and indoor seating. We came on a Thursday night, so the restaurant wasn't really busy and they were able to accommodate our party of 9 easily. To share, we had the following dishes: -Pain: The variety of french breads were warm, crispy, and good! Pretty easy to eat. I also like the presentation of cutting the fennel leaves into the oil. The butter was hard though, so I wish we were given softer butter. -Carpaccio de Bar: Pretty good fish carpaccio. It was tangy and fresh. I wish there were less orange rind bitterness notes though. -Gigli Aux Truffles: My favorite dish of the night. I loved the creamy and savory flavor of the truffle pasta and it felt light which I liked. I do wish the pasta had more of an al dente texture, but it was still good. -Petits Farcis: My first time trying this Nice dish and it was pretty good! I enjoyed the meat-stuffed veggies which were cooked well, juicy, and flavorful. The rice pilaf was soft and flavorful, but tasted and felt cheap. -Steak Frites: This dish was a bit disappointing. We ordered the steak at medium, but it was a bit chewy. The fries were also fried too much and were a bit hard. My vegan friend was also given the wrong dish which wasn't ideal. However, the staff made sure to get her the correct dish and not charge her for the other one. They also gave us a lot of free alcohol which was nice. I'd say the drinks here were pretty good. They were sweet and enjoyable. Overall, a solid experience here. I wouldn't come out of my way to dine here again, but I would be down to maybe try the brunch menu here. read more

My mom and I had the most amazing experience at Azur! All of the staff were very attentive as well as knowledgable about the menu. We took our servers recommendation to order their stuffed squash blossoms and OMG were we glad we did. They were the best bites of food either of us had had in a long time. A couple of weeks ago, my girlfriend and I decided to dine at Azur while walking around Beverly Hills. Before they even seated us, they specifically asked whether we were there just for drinks or whether we wanted to have dinner. We clearly told them that we wanted full dinner service. The restaurant was also very empty that day, so you would think they would appreciate the customers who chose to spend their money there. At first, everything seemed fine. We placed an appetizer order with our waitress. Shortly afterward, another employee came over asking whether we wanted to order food. We explained that we had already ordered appetizers and were still deciding on the rest of our meal. Then, literally about five minutes later, our waitress came back and asked us, "Are you guys just snacking?" The way she said it was incredibly rude, condescending, and inappropriate. After that, we were constantly interrupted. Someone seemed to be coming to our table every few minutes, and the entire experience started to feel like they were watching how much we were ordering rather than simply allowing us to enjoy our dinner. Maybe because we were two young women, they assumed we weren't going to spend enough or couldn't afford to dine there. I've included a photo of our check, so people can judge for themselves whether we were "just snacking." What made it worse was the attitude of our waitress. She behaved as though she owned the entire restaurant and we somehow needed to prove that we deserved to be sitting there. Customers should never be made to feel uncomfortable based on assumptions about how much money they are going to spend. After reading other reviews, I can see that we are apparently not the only people who have complained about the service. I genuinely hope the owner and management see this: pay attention to the way your waitstaff speaks to and treats customers. If employees are being instructed to pressure tables like this, then management needs to reconsider that approach. And if they aren't being instructed to behave this way, then management needs to address the employees who are. An upscale restaurant should care about the experience, not just how quickly it can maximize the check. When customers feel like dollar signs instead of guests, they don't come back. In a market with this many excellent restaurants and this much competition, that kind of attitude will eventually hurt the business. The food wasn't impressive enough to compensate for the service either. There are far too many great places in Beverly Hills to spend your money somewhere that makes you feel judged and rushed. I would not return to Azur, and I would not recommend it. Save your money and, more importantly, save your mood. Go somewhere that actually makes you feel welcome. We started with the bread basket and the Salade de Pois Chiches, as well as their mocktails. We loved the variety for the bread and the salad was light but so flavorful. For our mains we shared the Ratatouille de Polet, Poitrine de Poulet, Brocollini and Frites. That chicken was heavenly, we could not get enough of it, perfectly crusted and tender and juicy. The Ratatouille was situated in a baked polenta bowl and was the perfect warmth and comfort to your tummy. The broccolini and fries were seasoned beautifully and made you want to come back for more. We ended with their Profiteroles. It was chocolatey and delicious and the perfect end of a delicious meal! Side note: there is no street parking, but they have valet and a parking garage right near as well. We can't wait to come back and try some of their other dishes! read more

The Two star is only for the Nice DJ , polite staff and the general ambiance. Drinks were plain nothing crazy and overpriced. Options were slim and nothing really special. The food is just okay. Appetizers very salty. The steak is nothing special and of course you can find much better choices in the area of Beverly Hills. I would say definitely the food and drinks not really worth the price they charge and I would have rather spent my money somewhere else and not going to a place only for the DJ and ambiance with just okay food. I had an incredibly disappointing experience at this restaurant for my friend's birthday. Although I made a reservation, they never told us we had to specify indoor seating, so we were forced to sit outside in extreme heat. When we requested the sofa corner seats, they refused, saying it was only for four people. Yet, just minutes after we were seated, a couple was placed right in those same seats. The servers were shockingly rude--they ignored us, took forever to take our order, and never checked in. Even when we tried to order drinks, they completely disappeared. They offered no guidance on the menu, and for the birthday, they brought a candle but didn't even light it. After we asked, we waited another 10 minutes just to get a spoon. The service was beyond awful, and while the food was just okay, the entire evening was ruined by the dreadful treatment. read more

We had the burrata salad (definitely get this), the arugula and artichoke salad (100% get this too) and also the Niçoise salad (this was okay). Azur is the perfect restaurant to unwind after a long day! From the cozy ambiance to the soft lighting, everything is made to make you feel welcome and relaxed. I almost felt like I was on vacation in a trendy spot in the south of France. They did a really good job with the decor combining elegance, modern materials, comfort and warmth. The bar design was innovative and cool. Our waiter Tanguy was super attentive and friendly. The food was absolutely delicious and well presented. My favorites tonight were the "poulpe grillé" (grilled octopus) and the pissaladière (pastry crust with caramelized onions and anchovies). I highly recommend them! I ordered a filet mignon (medium rare) with fries and my friend got the lobster spaghetti and an extra side of mashed potatoes. We shared. The filet mignon was very tender and the mashed potatoes were one of the best I have ever eaten: buttery and smooth. Perfectly French ;-) . The sauce of the Lobster Spaghetti was very tasty; I just wished the spaghetti were more al dente. We ordered an apple tart and the Tropezienne for dessert. The apple tart had a scoop of ice cream on top and it was delightful. Overall, we had a wonderful time in a perfectly located restaurant, not overly loud which made it great for socializing with friends and new acquaintances. Loved the live singers too.
