LA needed a Persian restaurant like Rumi's. Beautiful space, a fantastic location, delicious food, and service that honestly could not have been better. The whole experience felt worthy of a night out. The restaurant itself is gorgeous, and the presentation carries through to the table. From the bread and herbs to the dips, kebabs, and golden potato tahdig, the spread looked as inviting as it tasted. It's the kind of meal where you keep looking around the table, deciding what you want another bite of. The service deserves just as much credit as the food. Everyone we interacted with was so welcoming, and that hospitality made an already lovely dinner even better. My only suggestion would be to offer smaller portions of some dishes. The servings are generous, which many people will appreciate, but with a smaller group, you can only order so much. I would have loved to try more variety without ending up with far more food than we could finish. When your main complaint is wanting to try more of the menu, though, that says something. Overall, an amazing addition to LA's dining scene and an easy five stars. Next time, I'm bringing more people--and ordering accordingly. read more

I'm genuinely surprised by some of the negative reviews because our experience at Rumi's Kitchen was absolutely wonderful. And having grown up in Tehran, I know and love good Persian food. I can say without hesitation that this is some of the best Iranian food I've had in Los Angeles, if not the very best. Where do I even begin with the food? The lamb kabob was incredible, the ghormeh sabzi was rich and flavorful, and the potato tahdig was to die for. The kashk-e bademjan, Salad Shirazi, and lentil rice were all outstanding. Every single dish was beautifully prepared, full of flavor, and tasted like someone in the kitchen genuinely cared about getting it right. We kept looking at each other after every bite, amazed at how good everything was. And then came dessert! The ice cream was heavenly, but what really touched me was the Persian tea. The moment I tasted it and took in its beautiful, deep aroma, I was transported back to Tehran. There was something so authentic and nostalgic about it. It's rare that a cup of tea can bring back such vivid memories of home, but this one did. The restaurant itself is gorgeous. The decor is elegant and thoughtfully done, the atmosphere is warm and inviting, and the beautiful Iranian music playing in the background makes the whole experience even more special. Even the bathrooms are stunning! You can tell that a lot of thought went into every detail of this place. And I have to mention the service. Our waiter was an absolute gentleman, incredibly kind, attentive, and gracious, with the most striking blue eyes and a lovely smile. He made us feel genuinely welcome. What impressed me most was that someone checked on us after every dish arrived to make sure we were enjoying it. Not in an intrusive way, but with genuine care and pride in what they were serving. We had such a wonderful time that I honestly didn't want the evening to end. As an Iranian, it makes me incredibly happy and proud to see our cuisine, music, and hospitality represented so beautifully. Rumi's Kitchen isn't just serving excellent Persian food; they're sharing a little piece of our culture with Los Angeles, and doing it exceptionally well. Five stars, without a second thought. I can't wait to go back, and I'll be bringing friends and family. Bravo to everyone at Rumi's Kitchen! read more

I had been waiting for Rumi's Kitchen to open for years, so when I finally saw the TikTok announcing its opening, I was extremely excited. I was so excited that I even made two reservations, one for September and another for October, because I thought I would definitely want to come back. I went with my friend for his birthday. The restaurant is beautiful, and the host was kind enough to move us from our indoor table to the balcony because it was very cold inside. The ambiance was gorgeous. Unfortunately, the food and experience were disappointing. We ordered a full beef Soltani and beef koobideh and asked for them well done because we don't eat our kabobs pink. We were initially told all kabobs are cooked medium-rare, but the woman who was training our server helped request extra char. The kabobs came out well cooked and were actually good. I ordered Adas Polo specifically for the tahdig after being told that was one of the ways to get it since tahdig wasn't available separately. Unfortunately, the tahdig was soggy instead of crispy, and the Adas Polo was extremely dry and lacked flavor. The yogurt appetizer was also disappointing. It was described as having garlic, walnuts, and dill, but our small portion only had dill, no garlic and not a single walnut. Also to mention it came in a chipped bowl? For Restaurant like it was a bit odd to be served food in chipped dish. One nice touch was the Persian ice cream they brought for my friend's birthday. That was thoughtful and tasted good. The biggest issue was our to go food. After we finished eating, I asked for boxes for our leftovers. The woman who was training our server took our remaining food to the kitchen and said she would pack it for us. We paid, received the food, and went home. When I got home, I handed the food to my dad because he was excited to try it. I then went to my room to change and get ready for bed. A few minutes later, my dad came into my room and said, "The Adas Polo was okay, but why did you bring home two small pieces of chicken kabob? And the chicken is dry." That was when I realized something was seriously wrong. We had ordered a beef Soltani and a beef koobideh. Our leftovers were approximately half of the beef Barg and half of the beef koobideh, along with the Adas Polo. But the Adas Polo was there, while our leftover beef kabobs had somehow been replaced with two small pieces of chicken kabob and we never ordered chicken. My dad had already eaten the chicken before I realized it wasn't ours. That is what really upset me. If I had checked the box before handing it to him, I would have thrown the whole box away immediately. But because he had already eaten it, we were left worried that he had eaten someone else's leftover food. From a hygiene standpoint, that was extremely concerning, and honestly, just really gross. What I cannot understand is how part of our order could be correct while the rest was apparently replaced with someone else's food? The Adas Polo we ordered was in the box, but our leftover beef kabobs were missing and replaced with chicken. Did something happen to our beef kabobs in the kitchen? Did someone possibly drop or discard our beef kabobs and then, instead of telling us, pack our Adas Polo together with someone else's leftover chicken? I have no idea what happened, but these are the questions that went through my mind when we discovered the mix up. Regardless of how it happened, we received a leftover food that we never ordered and my dad had already eaten it before we realized it wasn't ours. That completely changed the experience for us. The Coke was another miss. Instead of a regular Coke, my friend received a bottled soda that tasted medicinal to us. I had been looking forward to Rumi's Kitchen for years. The space and ambiance are beautiful, and the kabobs were good, but the overall food experience and especially the to go mix up were extremely disappointing. Because of this experience, I will be canceling my second reservation for October. It's especially disappointing because we were genuinely so excited about this restaurant, and this experience completely ruined that excitement for us. read more

We were so excited that Rumi's kitchen finally opened up in LA. I had tried the DC location earlier this year and met the sweet manager who told us about the LA location opening up this summer. Since then we've been anticipating it's opening. We could see why it took so long to open as all the design details were immaculate! You enter through large doors into this peaceful oasis with water running. There is a nice large bar up front so you can grab a drink while you wait for your table. We got seated on the large patio outdoors which perfect for a warm fall evening. There were so many delicious items to choose from. We started with the doog milk drink which was served over a large cube of ice with mint leaves. That made the drink stay cool and refreshing throughout our dinner. The kaske badamjoon was so creamy and delicious with the warm fresh bread. The lamb shank was a good juicy size served with a lubia polo. The shish kabob tasted like steak with crispy on the outside and just right on the inside. The koobideh was a large portion of 2 skewers and we substituted the plan rice with the potato tagig. We really enjoyed our first experience at Rumi's kitchen and will definitely be back many times! read more

Had the pleasure of attending Rumi's Kitchen grand opening. We have been anticipating the arrival of this prestigious restaurant for over a year. And it was definitely worth the wait! As an Iranian American growing up in LA I'm used to amazing Persian food. What falls short of the flavors of Persian cuisine Rumi excels at. Not only is the food amazing, the ambiance, the presentation stand out. Words can't express the beauty of this restaurant. From the gorgeous bar, the lights, the patio, the place is stunning. You can see why it took so long, they spent a lot of time, effort, and money to make sure nothing came short. Now on to the best part. The food and drinks were amazing. Our waitress, Melina was super friendly and walked us through the menu. She also told us about all the speciality cocktails and the encouraged us to try any and all! My personal favorite was the albaloo sharbat. Kind of a sour cherry juice that you can have with alcohol of your choice. My husband tried a variety of their speciality cocktails and loved each one. What really stands out at Rumi, the FOOD! Each and every item was phenomenal. It's rare to be able to have good fish at a Persian restaurant. That's why I was so blown away by the sea bass. It was melt in your mouth perfection. If I had to pick my two favorite menu items I would say, the lamb ribs, the shish kabob and the crispy potato appetizer was hands down the best potatoes I've ever had. The owner of the restaurant was super warm and inviting, he personally walked around and checked on every table. I can't wait to come back to try more of the food. read more

I have been waiting for the opening of Rumi's kitchen for years! While we don't have a shortage of choices for Persian restaurants on the west side, we definitely don't have a restaurant with such beautiful ambiance, decor, and personal touches. The cocktail menu was amazing! The sour cherry sharbat drink was refreshing and the perfect mix of sour and sweet. Our favorites were the potato appetizer, beef koobideh, ghormeh sabzi, and the faloodeh for dessert. Service was good for being a recent opening. I am looking forward to returning and trying other items! read more

Nice ambiance and great service. The food is good but overpriced for Persian food. We got the mirza ghassemi, salad shirazi, khashk bademjoon, must khiyar, polo albaloo, gheymee stew, lamb ribs, chicken kabob and Zoltan kabob. Everything was good but not amazing especially for the price. read more

We tried it and OMG! The design is fantastic, modern with beautiful Persian touches and the outdoor seating with the water feature is so cute! Chris, our waiter, was fantastic, and the service was great. For drinks we tried the Maydan, Shah Toot and Pistachio Passport (so unique with the cutest little passport!), plus Fattoush, lamb lahmacun, Mirza Ghasemi, Torshi, and Mast Moosir. For mains, we had Loobia Polo with Chenjeh, Soltani, and Fesenjoon ... everything was SO good! Desserts were just okay, but the mint tea was perfect and the little sand timer was such a cute touch. Honestly, some of the best Persian food we've had in California and maybe the US! read more

Rumi's Kitchen - Entry way staircase - Persian/Iranian Near Me - Los Angeles, California

Rumi Kitchen in Santa Monica is such a beautiful addition to the dining scene, and honestly, I was very impressed with the experience. The restaurant has a stylish, upscale atmosphere, great energy, and a menu that really showcases Persian cuisine in a modern and elevated way. The food was the highlight for me. Everything we ordered was beautifully presented, flavorful, and clearly made with attention to detail. The grilled meats were incredibly flavorful and well-seasoned, the rice was fragrant and perfectly prepared, and the tahdig was absolutely delicious. You can tell there is a lot of thought behind the menu and the way each dish is presented. The portions are also generous enough to make it a great place to share several dishes with a group. I also really enjoyed the overall ambiance. It feels like a place that works equally well for a nice dinner, a celebration, or a night out with friends. The design, lighting, presentation, and attention to the little details give Rumi Kitchen a sophisticated feel without losing the warmth that makes Persian dining special. That said, it's important to remember that Rumi Kitchen has just opened, so naturally there are going to be a few things that aren't completely dialed in yet. Service and timing may still need some fine-tuning as the team gets into their rhythm. But honestly, I think that's completely understandable for a brand-new restaurant, and it didn't take away from my overall experience. What stood out to me is that the food, atmosphere, concept, and potential are already there. The small service adjustments that come with opening a new restaurant are things that can be improved with time and experience. I would much rather judge a new restaurant based on the quality and potential of what they're building--and Rumi Kitchen has plenty of both. The team was welcoming, the food was excellent, and the overall experience was memorable. I think Santa Monica is lucky to have a restaurant bringing this style of Persian cuisine to the area. Even with a few opening-stage details still being worked out, Rumi Kitchen absolutely deserves the support. I'm looking forward to coming back and seeing how much more polished the experience becomes as the team settles in. read more

i was invited to the soft opening / friends and family event last night. my Iranian friends has been raving and waiting for this opening. the ambiance is, modern, yet warm, dark and romantic, lively, with upbeat music. dinner resys were pushed back about an hour, but the bartenders worked tirelessly to keep the drinks flowing so the wait didn't seem as bad. once we got seated to our table, our server came to go over the menu with us. there's a lot people on staff helping. everyone seemed to be eager to assist us. this is a such a great addition to the community. i'm so happy there's an upscale establishment serving delicious, flavorful, yet healthy tasting iranian food. drinks wise- the sharbat and pistachio was delicious we loved the bread service- sooo warm and fluffy, the eggplant was a stand out, the lamb ribs were flavorful and fell off the bones, the gharma sabzi and beef and lentil stew was a fave, the beef kabob was great, the water menu!! i loved that. for the dessert, the ice cream sanwich is a must. wish they didn't run out of the potato tahdeeg! but will be back to try it when they open. the opening was worth the wait!! read more

It was difficult getting reservations on a Saturday night , since it is opening week. I put myself of a cancelation list and left another restaurant to make it here. The ambiance is great . If you are looking for authentic Persian food , this place isn't for you. I would best describe this as elevated Persian cuisine. The service was great . It took over 45 min to get our mains , but they just opened and were flooded with orders . Shirazi salad with kumato tomatoes 8/10 Kask badanjoon 10/10 Roasted cauliflower 10/10 Beef soltani 09/10 Lamb kabob 10/10 Gourmet sabzi 5/10 (I recommend skipping this one) Ghieme stew 10/10 Faloudeh dessert 10/10 Although i dont drink, the coctail menu looks great. Restaurant is a bit on the pricer side , but worth the try . Definitely a 9/10 experience read more

We went as a group of six, and unfortunately the experience was disappointing. It was my first time at the restaurant, and throughout our visit we kept hearing things break from different parts of the restaurant. The drinks also came out unevenly. Four of us got ours, while two people had to wait until the food arrived. By then, tequila with kebab or ghormeh sabzi didn't sound appealing. One dish didn't arrive until we were ready to leave, so we had to get it to go. When we asked about the delay, our server said there had been a misunderstanding in the kitchen. The food itself had potential, but everything we tried was extremely salty. The ghormeh sabzi was so salty that it tasted bitter and I couldn't eat it. Some of us took our food home, hoping someone else might enjoy it, and some of it ended up being thrown away. Overall, the service was disappointing, and the food was too salty to enjoy. At this price, I wouldn't choose to come back. read more

We had been waiting with so much anticipation for Rumi's Kitchen to finally open its first Los Angeles location, and I can genuinely say it was worth the wait. I've had the pleasure of dining at Rumi's locations in Atlanta several times, but this was my wife's first Rumi's experience. From the moment we walked in, everything was exceptional. The space is absolutely beautiful, the ambiance is warm and elevated, the hospitality is incredible, and most importantly, the food was every bit as amazing as I remembered it being in Georgia. We ordered the Kabob Soltani, Chicken Kabob, Shish Kabob, Mast Mousir, Tahdig, Fattoush Salad, and finished the evening with Persian tea and Shir Berenj. Everything was beautifully presented, full of flavor, and cooked perfectly. What made the evening even more special was the hospitality. Ali and Hossein, the owners, spent so much quality time with my wife and me, despite how busy the restaurant was. The hosts were wonderful, our server was awesome, and the entire staff made us feel genuinely welcomed. At one point I looked around and realized 7 or 8 of my friends were there that evening too, all having managed to get reservations. I told Ali and Hossein that for a moment I felt like I was back in Georgia -- the experience was every bit as special as the ones I've had at their Atlanta locations. We enjoyed it so much that before leaving, we made another reservation for a party of eight to celebrate my mother-in-law's upcoming birthday. Los Angeles has been waiting for Rumi's Kitchen, and they absolutely delivered. Beautiful restaurant, incredible Persian food, exceptional hospitality, and an experience we can't wait to have again. 5 stars without hesitation. Welcome to LA, Rumi's! read more

Well it pains me to have to write this after having such high expectations of this place. Upon entry the ambiance is nice. A lot went into the design and look of the establishment but service and food are not up to par. When it came to service we were greeted by our waitress, Sadaf, who was very stand-offish initially. She was very condescending and rude about the the options we made for our drinks. We're all health conscious individuals and just wanted water. She reiterated our decision as "oh so just regular tap water then" with a certain tone and made it seem as if we are peasants ordering regular water instead of their grand bottled option. Not very nice and not kind in any way shape or form. We get it, it's a bougie restaurant but c'mon. Be nice. After ordering a soltani, chicken Barg, lamb stew, kubideh, and 2 appetizers, Sadaf started becoming a bit more friendly. As if she didn't expect us lowly peasants to be able to order such grandiose options which brings us to the 2nd disappointment. The food. The beef barg was totally dry. Not well cooked at all. It was decent but just not tender and juicy as you would expect barg to be. Tough and dry. The lamb stew was EXTREMELY salty. Seemed like the chef had a heavy hand with the salt and it was consistent across all the foods. A little too salty but the lamb stew was just ridiculously salty. The kubideh was decent though. Juicy and good meat but also not salted accordingly. Considering the price for the foods, you're really paying for presentation and not good food. Very expensive by the way for what you're getting. Definitely not worth it which is the main reason behind this 1-Star review. The tea was nice and Sadaf was nice enough to bring complimentary bite-sized deserts but that was after she sensed that we weren't really all that happy. It's a nice gesture and we tipped nicely but still... wasn't too good of an experience. Shout out to the designers though. The place looks real nice and the doors are really cool. People and food aren't though. read more

It honestly breaks my heart to even write this review because I genuinely love Rumi's and have had such great experiences at their other locations. I'm writing this more in hopes that management sees it and makes some serious improvements, because this experience was incredibly disappointing. We came to celebrate my aunt's 50th birthday, and she had traveled two hours to spend this special occasion with all of us. Unfortunately, the restaurant was beyond understaffed, and it affected almost every part of our experience. We ended up having to clean our own table, we weren't even given water without having to repeatedly ask, our food got mixed up, and our birthday cake was somehow sent to another table. Nearly three hours into being there, we were still waiting for dessert. For a table of six people celebrating a milestone birthday, it was honestly really upsetting. I also want to make it clear that I don't blame the individual staff members. One person should not be expected to handle that much on their own. This felt like a management and staffing issue more than anything else. I'm not writing this to shame Rumi's. I'm writing it because this is an establishment with such a great reputation, and I know the experience can be so much better. Management really needs to address the staffing situation and provide their employees with enough support to properly take care of their guests. I also wish there had been a little more grace or acknowledgment considering how many things went wrong, especially knowing we were there for such a special occasion. It genuinely makes me sad that my aunt's 50th birthday dinner, something we were really looking forward to, ended up being spent like this. I truly hope management takes this seriously and makes improvements because I would love to see this location live up to the Rumi's experience I've had and loved elsewhere. read more

One star. This is embarrassing behavior from a manager, especially at a restaurant that just opened. We had a reservation, but our table wasn't ready when we arrived. While we waited, my friend used the restroom. When she returned, the manager, Ali, complained that he had been looking for us, said he wouldn't seat her, and started yelling at her. His disrespectful behavior made her so angry and completely ruined our day. We never even got seated or ate. Our reserved table wasn't ready, yet somehow my friend using the restroom became the problem? Ali, if you're going to manage a restaurant, start by managing your temper. It's embarrassing that a manager needs to be reminded of basic manners. A newly opened restaurant should be giving people a reason to come back. You gave us a reason to never return. read more

Let me start off by saying that the service was phenomenal, they have that down. The drinks- horrific. If you want to have melted dessert as a cocktail and barely any alcohol, go here. Since when is it okay to make such gross sweet drinks? Had the pistachio drink, husband had the drink with mezcal and both were sweet. Told the waitress wanted something with tequila and not sweet and whatever she had made was just as sweet as the other drinks, I didn't drink it. Food- lamb ribs good but again on the sweet side, lamb hummus was good. Koobideh was okay, I've had better koobideh at Sadaf and Raffis. Albaloo polo only had three cherries in it so they definitely went stingy. Mast mooseer was watered down and gross Would I be back? Nope. read more
