My two friends and I came for the Dine LA Sunday brunch and had a really nice experience. We were seated right away, and even though we hadn't specified inside or outside when we made the reservation, they happily accommodated our request to sit inside because it was HOT. We got water right away and then waited a little bit before our server was able to get over to take our drink orders. We had Bloody Marys along with the Prosecco that came with brunch, and both were yummy. For the first course, we got one of each option for the table: the bacon-wrapped dates, fruit, and walnut sticky bun. ALL delicious. They ended up coming out at the same time as our entrées, which were omelettes and chicken and waffles. Some people might not love the timing, but honestly, we didn't mind at all. We just grazed on everything together and enjoyed the whole table. It seemed like there was one server handling pretty much the entire dining room, and he was working his ass off. We let him know that we could see how much he was juggling and that we were perfectly happy being patient. Even though he was clearly slammed, he regularly did fly-bys to check on us and make sure we had what we needed. Dine LA is hectic, and he was doing his best to keep up with a very busy room. The food was good, we had no complaints, and overall we really enjoyed ourselves. I'd absolutely go back to AOC for their regular brunch and would love to try dinner too. read more

I had a reservation for brunch last weekend and was really excited to try this place since I had heard so many good things about it. Thankfully, they were also participating in the Dine LA event! I believe it was around $30 per person, which was honestly a pretty good deal. I loved the food and our server was amazing. However, I unfortunately didn't love the service from the host. We had a reservation for 12:30 PM, and we were seated outside (mind you it was like over 90 degrees). I normally wouldn't mind outdoor seating but it was WAY too hot in their outdoor area, even with the mesh covering. They definitely need to invest in some misters/fans, especially during the summer (it's also 2026). I asked the host if we could be moved indoors since I could visibly see multiple open seats. She told me no because those seats were reserved for "4 people," which didn't really make sense to me when I could literally see with my own two eyes that several of the indoor tables were occupied by parties of two. When I pointed that out, she didn't really have anything to say back. The whole interaction honestly left a bad impression of the restaurant as a whole. I don't want to assume anything, but it did make me question whether racial identity may have played a part in how we were treated, especially after noticing that the guests seated inside appeared to be non-POC. I ended up asking the host AGAIN if we could please be moved inside because I genuinely couldn't bear the heat anymore, and she was finally able to accommodate us with an indoor seating. Also, especially on busy weekends and during events like Dine LA, I think they should consider having two hosts instead of just one. It seemed like a lot for one person to manage. Overall, the food was really good and our server was great, but the hosting experience and outdoor seating situation definitely could've been better. read more

This is one of my regular spots when I staycation on the Westside, but this was my first time trying their Happy Hour. I also wanted to do their weekend brunch for the first time, but alas ended up not doing that due to an unpleasant heatwave and stomach capacity. About half of AOC is the gorgeous (but outdoors) patio. I was able to walk here from my hotel. Happy Hour is offered at the bar (about 10 seats) and at the adjacent long communal high-top. There are 3 cocktails on the menu, plus wines and beers. Nothing spirit-free. I ordered the Cool Sting (mint-infused vodka, cucumber, lime) and the spirit-free Sunlit Bloom (peach, lemon verbena), both so refreshing in the heat. Bartender Frank clearly wasn't hired yesterday, several guests knew him. The bites portion of the HH menu has 11 items, including several famous dishes, which Frank said were full-sized portions. I ordered the Farmer's Plate (roasted veggies, hummus, muhamarra, burrata and grilled toast) and Spanish Fried Chicken, which came with a romesco aioli. I've had the farmer's plate before and it is delish. The veggies probably vary seasonally, but the creamy hummus and burrata and the kicky muhamarra were as fondly remembered. This was my first taste of the fried chicken, although I have had the roasted chicken "ode to Zuni". This was boneless thigh meat, well-seasoned but fortunately for me not heat-spicy. The aioli was fine, but the chicken was fine without it too. Two days later I would try the 5-fat fried chicken at Darling. Theirs was more chili-powder forward, also not too heat-spicy, perhaps more one-note, served with honey and hot sauce. I'd order either again. AOC's serving is larger. So if I made it to brunch here, I would have ordered the walnut sticky bun and steak frites or herb omelette. Something to look forward to in non-heatwave weather. read more

The Bottom Line 3.75 stars: Great ambiance. Good overall service. Nice drinks and good food. Highly recommended but with a few pointers as noted down below. Location 4 stars: On the 3rd Street East of Robertson, in the Beverly Grove area of Los Angeles. We opted for the convenience of Valet Parking (for a fee). There is some street parking, but it is a busy area so I would assume it would not be very straightforward. Venue 4 stars: Cute restaurant with a full bar, indoor seating and a rustic patio area. Service 3.75 stars: Server-dependent... We had servers switched on us mid-steam. The first one was super friendly and attentive and helpful, but the one who took over was just OK. The manager was wonderful and circled around making sure that everything was going well. Drinks 4 stars: AOC is mainly a wine bar. They have as huge list of wines but also some tasty specialty cocktails and a full bar. We had the Kingbird, the Mezcal Royale, Flor De Jamaica and a Grey Goose Martini. All were well-made and delicious. Prices were OK but a little on the higher side. Food 3.75 stars: AOC is known for its farm-to-table small plates, and we did try some of their famous ones, but were not as satisfied as we had anticipated. First off, the portions, especially for the prices, are tiny... We had the Bacon Wrapped Dates (good but super small portion), Haricot Verts salad (just ok), the Shrimp (good), the Clams (good), the Grilled Seabass (good), the fries (great) and their famous Spanish Fried Chicken (too greasy for our taste). They do have a nice menu of desserts, but we did not try any this time around. Billing 2 stars: They add 7% to every check to provide health insurance for the employees. While I fully appreciate and applaud the cause and also the fact that they disclosed this at the bottom of the menu (which not everyone looks at) and also noted that the customer could ask for it to be removed (but c'mon, in reality, WHO in their right mind would feel right asking???), why not simply add this to their prices? read more

AOC used to be an industry favorite. I remember hearing about this place from friends in the food and wine industry back in NYC. Nowadays, if you do find yourself here you'll find a charming restaurant that has clearly lost its place among the city's trendsetters list. I'm not sure why. The food is still stellar. A.O.C. is a classic. The dimly lit space resembles a rustic cottage with green ivy climbing the walls. The aromas of its wood burning oven draws you in. Arroz Negro: The little black cast iron pan preserves the heat of the camouflaged ingredients. The rice is black from squid ink, which provides a subtle briny flavor. You taste each individual grain, all slightly crispy and firm. The soft sofrito of tomatoes, onions, garlic, and bell peppers has transferred its flavors to the rice. The little squid tentacles are crispy and tender. Occasionally, there are sharp pockets of parsley and scallions and even a surprising hint of heat. The saffron aioli is golden yellow and thick like runny egg yolk. The aioli is a flavor magnifier that makes things taste even more like the ocean. Our group of four dined for Sunday brunch. Our last time here was seven years ago. Even though our reservation was for 1:30 pm the menu was small and, essentially, brunch. But they did offer a few lunchtime items. The restaurant could be very quiet but on this occasion an obnoxiously loud group was so oblivious to the pleasure of others that some patrons chose to move outside patio dining. We also moved our table but the loud group was still very disturbing and so loud I could not hear the waitress. Most in our group ordered the le a.o.c burger with gruyère, dijon, caramelized shallots & crispy. I added avocado for extra flavor. It was presented very well on a plank and it was delicious. The meat was cooked perfectly per my order. One guest ordered the scrambled egg focaccia sandwich with hooks' cheddar, nueske's bacon & chive crème fraîche and loved it. He's usually a meat eater but decided to try something new and he was happy he did. Parking in the area is very limited, more so by required residential permit parking and lots of tow away signs. We found a spot four blocks from the restaurant. Of course they do offer valet parking. One of our guests used the valet for $13. One minor issue is the restaurant charges an additional 6% for employees health care benefits. A small amount but a sign of the times. read more

Arriving early for our reservation we were offered the bar, or our table as it was "all set up" for us. We opted to be seated and were shown into the courtyard. The table was ready and even had a card on it for a special occasion(birthday). The courtyard is a wonderful space, open area, tables not crowded, and a nice retreat from the city. Service was perfect with the staff explaining small plates, the options, and questions from the table as well as checking in, clearing and cleaning the table and empty plates as needed. The wine list. Did not partake, it was a cocktail evening but the list is EXTENSIVE and appears well curated. The Mediterranean-inspired menu has plenty of options without being overwhelming. Each dish appears to be a masterpiece of its own, pair it with wine, and other plates............well, you should come try the magic for yourself. Three STAND OUT DISHES YOU SHOYLD NOT MISS: °bacon wrapped dates-kinda standard these days, but these are the best I've had. Go ahead and place 2 orders. We did, and almost a 3rd. ° tunisian lamb shank(prepared to perfection), this entire presentation, plate, combination is perfect. The flavors/herbs along with the harissa are on point, and jeweled rice make you question what the main player of this dish is. ° cherry & peach crisp(be sure to order this at the beginning of your meal because it is baked fresh just for you!) with vanilla ice cream. Fresh fruit with an amazing crumble placed on your table directly from the oven. Can't say enough- fresh baked fruit and crumble with cold ice cream-chef's kiss. Honorable mention: soft polenta, wild mushrooms, swiss chard, mascarpone & gremolata. Seems to busy but is an amazing plate. Dinners at AOC are lovely, but Brunch at AOC is special. To start their outside atrium/garden is such a vibe in the daytime. We started out with the Sticky bun with bacon, which I highly recommend, its the perfect mix of warm, soft, gooey, sweet and salty. I also had the chicken and waffle, and it felt very premium the way they fried the chicken atop a cornmeal waffle. Add in the prosciutto atop the chicken, it was such a flavorful bite. To finish we got a cherry/peach cobbler, which needs to be ordered at the start of the meal, but the staff kindly ruched an order for us and it was the perfect end to our brunch. This is one of the cutest places for a brunch with a covered outdoor terrace with gorgeous ivy climbing up the walls. The food here is really solid as well, we had the charcuterie, egg focaccia sandwich, steak and eggs, and the dessert platter. The egg focaccia sandwich is super fluffy and cheesy and exactly what you want in a breakfast sandwich. The steak is cooked tender with the most delicious crispy fried potatoes. You cannot skip on the breakfast platter, it is a sweet tooth's dream. The chocolate torte, homemade peanut butter, cups, and chocolate covered honeycomb were my absolute favorites. The brunch here absolutely blew my mind. I was surprised to see it so empty during our whole meal but I think people consider them more of a dinner spot. I am here to say COME FOR BRUNCH. It's such a cute space both inside and outside on the covered patio, and our server was so sweet. The patio really is a vibe though so I would recommend sitting there. We started with the Toasted Blueberry Bread and Lemon Butter and it was not the vibe. The bread was thin and crispy, not to mention burnt. It was giving raisin bread from childhood. The butter was amazing but the dish was just a disappointment so fair warning. I went with a more lunch-forward item, the Roast Turkey Focaccia Sandwich. It was so good that I texted my friends about it after. It was so big and filling and packed with big cuts of turkey. But that green harissa, avocado & castelvetrano olive mixture was just magic. The restaurant was practically empty, yet the woman who appeared to be the manager came over visibly angry and miserable and told me that if my dog barked one more time, we would have to get out. For the record, a service dog is not expected to be completely silent at all times. An occasional bark does not automatically mean the dog is out of control, especially when the handler immediately takes effective action and the behavior is not ongoing or disruptive. Lady, seriously, get a life. You should have been happy to have customers there enjoying brunch instead of creating a problem over two barks from a service dog that was completely under control. In such a dog-friendly city, a little tolerance and kindness would go a long way. I'm honestly not surprised the restaurant was empty. Suzanne and her team work hard to create consistent flavors across their menu to always make you feel like you're having some of the most elevated flavors in the coziest of places. In terms of what to get in addition to their seasonal dishes which rotate: - bacon wrapped dates - a must and an original staple - farro - seriously so good with anything but especially a meat dish - ode to zuni - for a bigger group, a true tribute to some of the best chicken I'll ever have from Zuni Cafe in SF They'll rotate some dishes in and out based on ingredients and the season so you know you're going to get some quality items every time. And the space is so charming - think Californian Spanish style with a warmth and charm of home. They have patio areas and valet parking. Had a great dinner at AOC, sitting on their patio. Had an early res and we were one of the first parties seated, so the restaurant lacked a bit of energy which was unfortunate. But by the end of our meal, the place was PACKED and there was big energy happening, so plan your dining time according to what kind of atmosphere you desire. Cocktails and wine were excellent, the small plates were wonderful. (I think we had the Parmesan dates, one of the focaccias, the bass, and the corn pudding. Dessert was the sampler for two. The pot de creme soared. The peanut butter cups and other items were delicious. Though the little smores fell a bit flat. (Overall the dessert board was a win!) Couple things to keep in mind. Here, like lots of other places, if you just go for dinner and stick to the foods, you can have a totally reasonably priced meal. We were celebrating, so the drinks and the desserts kept coming. So what could be a great spot for a weeknight dinner can get super pricey (if you're worried about such things) because the alcohol and dessert expense really drives up the bill. Don't get me wrong - not complaining. The experience was worth it. But just be aware. Couple other things. One, they add a 6% (at the time of this review) charge to apparently provide health care or other benefits to their staff. Well intentioemd, but it would be nice to have been aware of this ahead of time, or for more details about where that money goes. Also, they will require a credit card to guarantee the res, with a $25 per head fee if you no show. Having gone to culinary school and understanding the challenges restaurants face, I get it. And no-shows are rude. But I'm not a fan of the practice. So just be aware that that's a thing and make sure you're really committed to your day and time before you book. The waffle was divine in fact I want one right now. I had the green goddess and a bloody Mary. The green goddess was definitely the highlight for drinks. Three of the group had the omelette and said it was good but nothing amazing. Chile Verde pork though I tried and the focaccia egg sandwich i had a bite of and those were also both amazing so I don't know if I trust the omelette folks opinion. Looking at it I think I would have liked it. They wanted more cheese but that's exactly why I don't order omelettes usually they have too much cheese. Avocado toast looked good as well. We hosted a private dinner for 30 here at AOC and it was executed perfectly. Their private room is ideal, with its own entrance, separate bathroom, and plenty of room to move around with your group. If your dream dinner takes place at one long beautiful table, you have found your spot! The food and service were topnotch. The chicory salad with apple created a lasting memory for me, as did the Spanish fried chicken. And I loved my clementine fizz! Alex M was great to work with. He greeted me and showed me to the space when I arrived to set up, and introduced me to the staff who took such great care of us. Our group had dietary restrictions and they were accommodated seamlessly. I'd trust AOC with any important meal: engagement party, rehearsal dinner, launch event, board dinner, etc. They handled all the details so I could focus on my people--and that's all any host wants, right? read more

We were in Los Angeles the other night and decided to try this place because my son recommended it along with quite a few people on YELP. We settled on a few different items on the menu to get a feel for the variety of food offered here. - the farmer's plate - roasted vegetables, muhamarra & chickpea purée, burrata & grilled toast Absolutely amazing flavors and textures on the plate. The toast was, pardon the pun, the toast of the town for the evening. It was unbelievably wonderful. - arugula, becky's pears, grapes, walnuts & date syrup salad Nice flavors but way over priced for a couple of pieces of arugula. Served on a small plate, like a lot of their dishes, but it hardly had anything on the plate. - green quinoa dumplings, sugar snap peas & sumac yogurt Wonderful flavors. - young broccoli, charred treviso, comte & bagna cauda focaccia OMG. This was the star of the night, right behind the toast from the Farmer's Plate. Wonderful flavors and the focaccia was so light and fluffy. - spanish fried chicken, romesco aïoli & chili-cumin butter Based on the previous reviews, we thought that this was going to be amazing. The dipping sauce was what made the dish. The chicken was definitely crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, but it just did not have much flavor. The flavor came from the dipping sauce. - soft polenta, wild mushrooms, swiss chard, mascarpone & gremolata Lots of wonderful flavors in this dish. - fried sun-chokes & sunflower seed pesto This dish was okay, here again, not a lot of flavor. I had a wonderful drink called "palm & thorn", made with tequila, guava, coconut & jalapeño. Wonderful flavors but a little on the small side. A couple of sips and it was gone. For dessert we tried the butterscotch pot de crème, with the almond cookies. It had the color of butterscotch, but after tasting it, I wasn't quite sure. Maybe a hint of butterscotch, but not much else. The cookies were amazing. The service was impeccable. Top notch in every way. The restaurant was nice and cozy with the fireplace and the layout of the tables. Very nicely done. We were so anxious to try the food that we forgot to take any pictures but it looked just like it does in the hundreds of other pictures posted on YELP. read more

I met Frank the bartender. Absolutely cool guy. Really cool guy but Matt. He went above and beyond. I missed the Ribfest by one day but he made sure that I was able to still have the experience and I was sure that this wasn't something that they could do on the Norm on the fly. But the service was absolutely amazing. And the food is insanely good insanely good. I don't even have words like literally. Just take a look at that. Cornbread take a look at that close up of the rib. You can't tell me that my review doesn't deserve five stars because this is perfect. It was so so good read more

My friend recommended this place and it was phenomenal. From the service to the vibes to the food and drinks, I'd definitely come back. AOC is French-American. Menu is simple and descriptive. We started with some cocktails and wine. I got the basil smash and what makes this cocktail stand out is the perfect level of sweetness--it's fruity without being too overpowering. And my second drink was the green goddess, also incredibly refreshing. Bacon-wrapped dates are a must have. We also got the grilled torpedo onion, cherry tomato, mahón, harissa & basil focaccia, this is like a very light and fluffy pizza. The star of the show for me was the Spanish fried chicken. The chili cumin butter pairs well with the crunch of the chicken. And you also cannot go wrong with the hanger steak- so juicy and the crispy edges made every bite perfection. I can't believe I just discovered this place. But I'll be back for sure. read more

Super trendy atmosphere and good options for Dine LA. My favorite dish was the roasted carrots with beet purée, monte enebro & hazelnut brown butter. The menu was a bit confusing though because each dish had a letter next to it--D, N, or G. D is for dairy, N is for nuts, and G is for gluten. read more

We stopped in for Happy Hour while shopping on Robertson. We were hungry, and intrigued by their small plates, we ordered: * Marinated Olives * Farmer's Plate * Spanish Chicken * Burrata Anchovy Flatbread * Plus, 3 cucumber gin drinks and 1 glass of white wine. Everything was excellent! The portions were larger than we expected, so we took home half of everything. (I'm enjoying the rest of the flatbread now as I write this). The food is very fresh, unique and homemade. The bar and restaurant appear to have been converted from an old historic-style house with Moroccan touches, which add to the charming old-world elegance of the place. All of the staff we encountered was very helpful, attentive and friendly. We aren't in this area very often, but we plan to visit again when we are. Loved it! read more

When I found out that Steve Sando from Rancho Gordo Beans was hosting a combination book signing and dinner with dishes from his new book at A.O.C., I new we had to go. It was a fantastic night... Steve was gracious and giving with his time, and I was so happy to be able to get to talk to him. But the food, oh wow. We had a combination of classic dishes from the AOC menu and specials from The Bean Book. It's not easy to cook someone else's recipes on the fly, but the AOC kitchen came thru. For classic dishes, we started with the bacon wrapped dates, which could be cliche, but the AOC version is the best I've ever had, and with getting. We also had the Spanish fried chicken. Great although I'll admit it's not as special as some of the other dishes. And we had the "Romeo lettuce and stone fruit salad", which was light and balanced but still packed with flavor. For the specials, we had a Persian lamb stew with Domingo Rojos beans, and a Royal Corona bean and mushroom stew. Cocktails were light and refreshing, and for dessert I couldn't resist getting another peach dish, the cobbler. A great way to finish a great meal. read more

Came back to AOC for the first time in a long time to celebrate my birthday. Lovely experience in a beautiful restaurant and still one of my fave places to eat in the city The bacon wrapped dates were very good but the portion is laughably small. The tiniest little dates I have ever seen on a plate sized for cats. Still delicious as I remembered though Grilled spring onion focaccia was great, so crispy but very much like a scallion pancake Clams, sherry, green garlic and toast were delicious. Soaked in lovely broth with crispy bread I didn't love the polenta - too mushroomy and chewy for me but the polenta itself was good. Tasted just like grits read more

This place is such a gem. Had an incredible dinner experience here. The food was amazing -- ordered the farmers market veggies, lamb chops, half chicken, and tried a few of the wines... everything was honestly so delicious. Our server checked up every time and was well informed about the menu. The ambience was next level! So cozy and intimate, music was the perfect level. It made for such a relaxed, enjoyable night. You can tell a lot of thought went into every detail, from the lighting to the playlist to the plating. Definitely a new favorite -- can't wait to come back! read more

Beautiful restaurant with really good food! My husband and I came here with our dear friend who is a local and highly recommended the food here. Given that it's a tapas place, we ordered a big portion of the menu. Every item we got was excellent and really thoughtfully crafted. We especially loved the mushroom focaccia. As good as the food was, my favorite part of the restaurant was the atmosphere. The building is absolutely beautiful on the inside and outside. It's a very nice dim and intimate setting. The staff was top notch as well, making sure we were taken care of. read more
