The oxtail meatballs are flavorful and can be a little heavy. The prawns are very flavorful and the salsa verde is great for dipping the Sfincione. Parking can be a hassle but street parking nearby is possible. Inside, the decor is grandiose and fitting for a Roman banquet (I assume). Service is friendly and just attentive enough. Phenomenal service and every dish is a creation in of its own!! The octopus salad was positively delectable! I didn't dare ask for bread, but it would've been sumptuous to drink the last of the dressing with a baguette!! The oxtail ragu was phenomenal! I finally made it to Mother Wolf after all the hype went down, and it was a pretty good experience: What I ordered: - margherita d'angeleno cocktail ($17) this had tequila, fresno chili, agave and lime so essentially an Italian spicy margarita, which was good - sfincione ($13) this focaccia bread was almost more like a dinner roll than a typical focaccia, but was still very light and pillowy - ruchetta salad ($18) aka arugula salad, with the appropriate amount of cheese (a cheese mountain on top) - fiori di zucca ($28) the infamous squash blossoms!! they came out piping HOT and were full of the ricotta filling. they were fried perfectly and were super crispy, but I kind of wanted a sauce to dip it in or have it drizzed over. for as much as everyone raves about them, they're good and I'd order again if I went back, but I wouldn't go back just for them - fusilli al cinghiale pasta ($39) wild boar ragu fusilli pasta: this was good but I couldn't tell it was boar. our server really recommended this but quite honestly I had forgotten we even ordered this.. - tonnarelli cacio e pepe ($26) I'd say this is one of the best cacio e pepe's I've had in LA, the pasta itself was perfectly al dente and the perfect size for this dish. very black pepper forward and a bit on the saucier side (vs more dry iterations), but I personally loved that - dessert: tiramisu, passionfruit gelato, and cookies & cream gelato the tiramisu was very solid, the passionfruit gelato had fresh passionfruit seeds and was well balanced in its tartness + sweetness, and you can't go wrong with cookies & cream We did have a nightcap + dessert at the hidden speakeasy, Bar Avoja - which was BEAUTIFUL. The decor, ambiance, vibes, all 10/10. The cocktails were pricier there but more elevated than the ones at the restaurant. Overall, while everything was pretty solid, I wouldn't say anything was exceptional or really stood out, especially given the $$$$ price. The restaurant itself is massive but runs generally very busy. Great service and exquisite eats! The caprese salad is a must, as well as the Margherita pizza! We order at least two when we are dining as a family. Every single pasta is fantastic! Our favorites are the spaghetti arribata as well as the cacio de Pepe! The squash blossoms are mid. We had such a great experience at Mother Wolf! We went before seeing a show at The Pantages, and the service was incredible from start to finish. Our server even asked if we had tickets for a show and what time it started so they could make sure we were finished and out in time. I really appreciated that extra attention to detail. Came for dinner a few days ago and while I had a nice time, I'd have to say this place was all show and minimal substance. Mother Wolf is located in Hollywood, they have valet and some street parking, though I would recommend taking a ride share. You can make reservations online so I absolutely recommend doing that as the place does get very busy. The restaurant is gorgeous inside, it's a really large and bright space inside that reminds me of The Wynn. For as large as the restaurant is, I do wish there was more space between tables because it did feel like I was on top of the table next to us (a common theme at Evan Funke restaurants). Service was pleasant too, staff was super nice and overall quite attentive, but I did feel like things lagged on the drinks front a few times throughout our meal (not the end of the world but definitely noticeable). On the food front, here's what we got: * Gamberi in Salsa Verde - I was very excited for this and was completely let down. The prawns were very bland and rubbery and the salsa verde was wayyyy too watery, so you couldn't really soak it into the prawns. Just a complete miss IMO. * Oxtail Meatballs - I enjoyed these, the oxtail was quite flavorful and the meatballs were well made. I wish it had a bit more sauce but overall solid. * Mezzi Rigatoni Alla Carbonara - This was fine, a real middle-of-the-road pasta. I would've expected more from this place, but it wasn't terrible or anything. * Arrosticini - This was my favorite item, the lamb was super flavorful and I loved how it paired with the herbs. It was a bit on the fatty side (it is lamb belly, just hated the gristle), but overall I still really enjoyed it. Cocktails were definitely on the pricier side and just OK, so I'd recommend trying their wine or skipping the booze. Overall, there were some bright spots, but a lot was lacking for what I was expecting. Would I come back? Maaaaaybe to try their pizzas, but it's kind of hard to justify with how expensive everything was here. I know this place used to be pretty busy and booked but think the hype might've died down? But I love it cause I was able to enjoy dinner with my friends comfortably. But we did it! You'd think just having the Porterhouse would be enough -- apparently it wasn't because we started with bread. At our server's recommendation we chose the bruschetta. Wow, what a fantastic start! The crunchy charred bread topped with the creamy Burrata and house made apricot jam was beyond delicious! Then he asked for his favorite pasta from our last visit -- SPAGHETTI ALL'ARRABBIATA. We can never get tired of this one. The house made pasta coated in that spicy sauce is so satisfying. Then came the steak. Although our server warned us that it was huge, we were still surprised when it arrived. But then came the included sides of fried fingerling potatoes and Ruchetta salad -- to say 'generous portions' is an understatement. I literally laughed at the mountain of salad when it arrived. It was all just incredible. The Prime Porterhouse was at the correct temperature, seasoned well and melt in your mouth amazing. The fried potatoes were hot, crisp and tasty. The salad was so good that the husband ate it -- I couldn't believe it! I tapped out early and in order to leave room for dessert, I had to force the husband to stop. We chose the CROSTATA DI MARMELLATA because of the apricots. We were so happy to have dined while they're in season and incorporated into Mother Wolf's menu. We were then surprised with complimentary sorbet (NETTARINA) and gelato (VANIGLIA) for our birthdays. Took myself on a solo date to Mother Wolf while I was in town for a premiere, and I'm so glad I made a reservation. I went on a Wednesday night, arrived right at opening, and the place filled up fast. Probably not one of those spots you can just stroll into. I started with the prosciutto and burrata and added the focaccia. That combo was perfect. The focaccia was amazing on its own, but paired with the meat and cheese it was next level. For my main, I had the cacio e pepe and it was perfectly seasoned, rich but not heavy. I went with a glass of Nebbiolo that matched the meal really well. Service was flawless. Everyone working there is clearly a pro. I also liked that the food comes out as it's ready. It kept the pace of the meal feeling relaxed and natural. The pasta we got I can't remember the name of. But it's basically like a carbonara but no egg. It was super peppery in a good way and cooked just how I like it. I would say for the price. It was a little bit on the small side. Everything was kind of sold to us as family style. Which we did like to share, but there was definitely not enough for more than two forkful's for the two of us. For the dessert, we got a tiramisu. 20 bucks for that little pot. Probably flavor wise one of the best tiramisu's I've ever had. It had a phenomenal texture and excellent depth of flavor. But it was also a $20 small pot of tiramisu. Overall, I would go back again. Alright, the vibe in Mother Wolf definitely gives off bougie Cheese Cake Factory lol but the food is way better than Cheese Cake Factory. We ordered the carbonara was a bit on the salty side but the pasta was cooked perfectly. Creamy and lots of bacon! We also ordered the prime ribeye. The steak was cooked to perfection. Potatoes were again on the salty side & we actually left a majority on the plate. They make all their cream in house and the earl grey ice cream was so so good. This is a review about a three-hour dinner we were still talking about a week later. First, the smell the moment we walked in confirmed we were about to have some seriously good, authentic Italian food, and Mother Wolf delivered. Everything from the food to the pacing to the service was exceptional. It was impressive to see how seamlessly the entire staff worked together. Our server, the bussers, sommelier and kitchen seemed completely in sync. Courses arrived with enough time between them to actually enjoy the evening, our glasses were never empty, and someone always seemed to check in at exactly the right moment (never hovering, never leaving us wondering where everyone went). They actually made a mistake with one of our dishes, but even that became part of a great experience. They immediately acknowledged it and offered to make it right. We ended up loving what accidentally arrived and happily kept it. Mistakes happen; how a restaurant handles them says far more about the quality of its hospitality. We were celebrating two birthdays, and somehow the entire staff seemed clued in. From our first greeting through dessert, there was a warmth to the service that made the night feel genuinely special. We even ended up chatting with our server about other favorite restaurants in the area and bonded over our mutual recommendations. Our only problem with Mother Wolf: everything on the menu sounds incredible, so apparently we have to come back multiple times. Tragic. One word of caution unrelated to the restaurant itself: I'd skip the valet. Our keys were left inside our running car for about 15 min while the attendant had his back turned across the street, which made us pretty uncomfortable. There's a lot about a block away where you can park yourself for roughly the same price. Otherwise, absolutely loved our evening here. We've dined at the location in Vegas a few times and decided to dine at the LA location with a few friends. I really should've paid closer attention to where this restaurant was located as Hollywood has absolutely gone downhill. We luckily found street parking but found myself constantly checking video footage to see if something happened to my car (yes I am aware there is valet but I never let strangers drive my cars). I was actually surprised at how big the restaurant was inside and still can't figure out why I've had such a hard time getting reservations in the past. Started the meal with the Sfincione which is always awesome along with the Ruchetta. I warned my friends that the Ruchetta would be enough to feed the 5 of us but we also ordered the La Panzanella. This time the Ruchetta had the perfect balance of lemon and olive oil. I found the last dish in Vegas being overly lemony. The La Panzanella was good but wish there were bits of prosciutto in the dish. Next appetizer we ordered was the Gamberi in Salsa Verde. The prawns were cooked perfectly but was never a fan of Chef Funke's salsa verde. The next appetizer was the Polpette Di Coda. Can't go wrong with this appetizer but wished I had more of the Sfincione to mop up the pomodoro sauce. Finally finished our appetizer order with Suppli Al Telefono which I surprisingly enjoyed. Up next were the pizzas (Diavola and Salsiccia?). I absolutely loved all of the char bits of Chef's pizzas so needless to say both were perfect in my opinion. The Diavola was a bit spicy but my 2 favorite pizzas are the marinara and the funghi. For the pastas we ordered Spaghetti Arrabiata and the Spaghetti Al Arragosta. Both were phenomenal in my opinion and would highly recommend both if on the menu. For the main entree we ordered the Tagliata Di Manzo. Needless to say I was stuffed by the time the entree came out so this really didn't taste great in my opinion. Wasn't a fan of the petite frites either. I think they could improve this dish with some sort of sauce to go along with the ribeye cap. Ended the meal with the sorbet which was very good. Only complaint was with the waitstaff constantly asking if we were done with the food and ready for him to clear the table. It's been a while since I went out for Italian and was truly impressed. Came here on a Friday night with my parents and brother without a reservation. Thankfully we were there right and opening and were able to be sat. The service was quick and attentive. We got the squash blossoms, diavola pizza, oxtail ragu, rigatoni amatriciana, and spaghetti arrabbiata to share. All the pasta was excellent. They were cooked perfectly al dente. Was able to make a dinner reservation for 3 on a Sunday the night before. We got sat in a corner booth table for three which seemed small but we made it work. Our server was Alex I believe and she was very attentive and thoughtful, I think she made our first dining experience here great. We had trouble trying to figure out what to order and gave us time to think and some recommendations as well. We ordered their well known squash blossoms and prawns in salsa verde. The squash blossoms were crispy and hot and the prawns were so plump and not overcooked at all. We also ordered their margherita pizza which was chefs kiss, super thin and right amount of sauce and mozzarella cheese with basil on top. Alex actually recommended we dip the pizza in the leftover prawn sauce which was also so delicious. We usually gravitate towards a red sauce pasta but we tried the Bottarga. We were expecting it to be more fishy but it tasted more garlicky and oily/creamy. The lamb chops were served with a balsamic sauce with lightly integrated figs, which was interesting. I've never had figs with lambs and it was a pleasant surprise. The lambs were cooked medium/medium rare though they were a bit chewy. For it being the most expensive dish we ordered on the menu, I wish they had better pairings with the meat (cookies veggies plated together or something). We finished it off with the tiramisu and ginger yuzu sorbet (which we actually meant to order the yellow nectarine sorbet, and sad I misremembered our own order!). The tiramisu was light and fluffy while the ginger yuzu sorbet was very citrusy and had a strong ginger taste it almost felt spicy, it was refreshing though after the eating greasy dishes. We also ordered several glasses of wine (red and white) and a cocktail (lemon drop) and the total was quite expensive. Our daughter was coming down to Southern California during the Thanksgiving weekend. I made reservations 2 weeks in advance on Small Business Saturday to eat at Mother Wolf in LA. We had dinner twice at Mother Wolf in Las Vegas. We enjoyed the food and the atmosphere in Las Vegas. LA is quite different. I drove past Mother Wolf and didn't know the building was a restaurant. Once we walked inside, saw the inviting setting. I think the lighting is brighter in Las Vegas. The atmosphere is more subtle than Las Vegas. Our server was pleasant and explained the menu. We ordered the MISTICANZA DI CAMPAGNA. We received the Ruchetta instead. We did not complain. There was a mixed up and we didn't want to make it a big deal in front of our daughter. We also ordered DIAVOLA, Rigatoni Alla Carbonara and the Branzino Alla Brace. We were disappointed they did not have the POLLO ARROSTITO on their menu. Obviously it's the hot spot in LA, so you have to check it out. The service was great and the food was good. Everybody is right -- the squash blossoms and cacio e Pepe are the highlight of the menu. I was pretty turned off by the fine print on the menu. There is a 5% "health and wellness" fee that is added to your check. This goes towards paying for healthcare for the staff. You can opt out of this fee by telling the staff you want to remove the fee. THAT IS SO TACKY. If you are charging $30 for a plate of spaghetti, I'm pretty sure you can afford to pay for healthcare for your workers. And if you pride yourself on hospitality, don't put your customers in an awkward position like that. Why they choose to call out that fee instead of just blending the cost of healthcare into their prices is a weird business practice IMO. You're on track to clear over $13M this year and you're pandering customers to cover a business expense that is your responsibility. Of course we paid the fee, but it left a bad taste in my mouth. Bottom line: food is good, service is great, business approach is weird. read more

So incredibly disappointed. We were celebrating a birthday and I had seen so many great reviews about this place praising its ambiance, food, and service. Unfortunately, only one of those was accurate: the ambiance. The food took over an hour to arrive (yes, I have timestamps), and when it finally did, it was far below expectations, especially for the price point. The server was inattentive and hard to find, even when I just needed a new napkin. I also informed her that we were celebrating a birthday, and she also told us there would be a birthday surprise, but then later took that back. Both pizzas had burnt crusts, and we had to pick off the edges to avoid the bitter taste. The flavor was unbalanced, with the Diavola being overwhelmingly salty and heavy on pepperoni. Some slices had no sauce, leaving them dry and bland. At around thirty dollars each, the quality was disappointing. The pasta was no better. After waiting an hour, I expected perfectly cooked dishes, but both pastas were undercooked and hard. The oxtail ragu was extremely salty, while the cacio e pepe felt like they forgot to add salt. The only dish we all somewhat enjoyed was the fiori di zucca, though even this one tasted mostly like oil. I also noticed a dismissive tone from our server, as if she viewed us as kids because we were younger than most guests. When we declined dessert, she whispered to me that this meant no birthday surprise. I wasn't upset about not receiving anything, since that's not something to expect, but being told there would be a birthday surprise and then having it taken back simply because we chose not to order dessert was very disappointing. It wasn't about the dessert; it was about the fact that she didn't keep her word. For the price, this place is NOT worth it. We won't be returning. I rarely write negative reviews, but this experience was far too disappointing to ignore. read more

It would be easy to miss this spot if you walked by it. I can't believe I never noticed it before. Even more surprising when you enter as it's a very big space. It has this odd mixture of art deco touches and waiters in white jackets but loud contemporary music playing and lots of people in jeans and T-shirts. But I kind of like that about it. Plates are meant to be shared and everything about the experience feels communal. It was busy lots of large groups, but that never slowed service down. I feel like 4 waiters and a sommelier came to our table. The food was good. Though the vibe is better. Kind of place you want to longer with friends. The bar is beautiful and I could imagine coming back with a friend and sitting there. Even if it's loud you kind of want to hang out talking over a shared pizza and pasta dish. read more

Love their "CACIO e PEPE" pasta and the fried Squash Blossoms "FIORI DI ZUCCA". The RIGATONCINI ALL VACCINARA (oxtail ragu, guanciale, peperoncino, pecorino cheese) is also really good. Beautiful inside with Tuscan Italian details, like the large ceramic vases. The big comfy booths are great for a large group. I had a really nice reunion here with some of my closest friends, and we enjoyed the great wine and the excellent pasta. It's in the heart of Hollywood, just south of Hollywood Boulevard on Wilcox. Unassuming frosted glass windows from the outside. Inside the restaurant the colors are warm with high ceilings and it has great lighting. Super service and they have a fantastic bar. read more
