The vegan options were so many and meat eaters were in heaven- I love the versatility of the restaurant. All the salads are fresh, the pita bread and hummus - you won't stop eating that. The falafel was crispy and tasted authentic. The restaurant ambience and feel was welcoming and the decor was clean and modern. If I can give 100 stars for the service, I would. I got the Greek salad with chicken kebab on top and I also got a special item they had (you probably have to ask periodically if they have it as he said it was for catering) which was branzino (fish) over rice with roasted almonds and rice. The Greek salad with chicken was super fresh. The chicken was juicy and well cooked. The branzino was delicious but my biggest issue was it was mostly rice and a very small amount of branzino. I paid about $19 for it so I was at least expecting a fuller piece of fish and it was only a few pieces over rice. But what was there was well cooked, tasty, and fresh! The food and service here was below average. We came in and there were a few tables and one server. She took our order, without writing anything down, and forgot to bring us two sides we ordered. Then, when we got our food, I got a Greek salad with a chicken skewer, there were no olives on it. The pita bread didn't have any flavor and the rice was some of the worse, flavorless rice I've had in years. The service wasn't great - she wasn't rude, but she didn't make an effort at all. There's no way I would recommend this place to anyone. Also, the salads are advertised as being enough for two people for the "full" size and that's simply not true. We tried the spinach pie (great), the dip w yogurt, garbanzos, little spiced up pita crisps, and pine nuts. There was a lot of it and it's so good we finished it off! This is a must-try item when you go. Also a must try? The stuffed grape leaves had the perfect ratio of rice and spices, lemony zest and firmness (they didn't fall apart on the first bite). For meat, tried the chicken shwarma wrap which was tasty but probably should have used more garlic sauce. I'm an omnivore but would be certain to be satisfied taking vegetarians or vegans here and skipping meat entirely. The ambiance is cute and clean. Beef and chicken shawarma on rice ordered - dinner portions with accompanying pita, hummus with yogurt-sample cups of garlic sauce and tahini. Tabbouleh, cabbage salad, Perrier, and the aforementioned $5 dollar lemonade. Baklava for dessert. All arrived promptly with a smile. Fresh ingredients were very fresh indeed, but beyond that it was just pitching the needle past bland. All the elements could be differentiated in flavor...the compliments stop there. All in for nearly $100 (two free Turkish coffees thanks to Yelp would have added another $10) after tax and tip. It's not bad food, but it doesn't stand out or above any street cart shawarma I've ever had in any country for a fraction of the price. This is a family owned business and I truly enjoyed supporting this establishment. My husband loved the free banana bread! This restaurant opened recently, taking over the Highland and Lexington corner that had been various other restaurants over the last few years. At present, they have a couple well-spaced tables outside, and one or two more inside. The inside has a bit of a boutique vibe, as they seem to sell some clothing and other items as well. There's a QR code on which to grab the menu, and I ordered at the counter. All of the staff seemed super friendly. I got the chicken kabab plate, which came with a choice of hummus or baba ghanouj, along with pita, French fries, rice and pickles. I also subbed in a Greek salad for the choice between fattoush and tabbouleh at their suggestion, and I added a side order of falafel, as well as baklava for dessert. Probably more food than I needed, but I wanted to try more things rather than fewer. After ordering, I sat outside, and in timely fashion, my meal arrived. At present, they're putting everything in takeaway containers. While I would assume that's because of the pandemic, in a couple cases--that of the falafel and the Greek salad--the relatively deep containers made it a little tricky to cut things. In general, the food was quite good. The star was the chicken, which was perfectly cooked and flavorful, especially when you slather on a bit of the garlic sauce that accompanied it. Also, the accompanying rice was delicious, and I appreciated the acidity of the pickles. The falafel was good--though it could have been a little more tender and moist (perhaps it was slightly over?). In hindsight, I should have just picked it up and dipped it in the tahini rather than trying to cut it first. The baba was also good, and the pita was fine but probably the least interesting part of the meal. I actually preferred dipping the French fries in the baba--which I did by accident--to using the pita. The Greek salad was refreshing, but at present it's being served in a round takeout container that makes it harder to eat than it could be; the high rim means it's hard to cut these large chunks of feta, peppers and other items, or to toss the dressing well. Obviously, in a perfect world they'd move away from disposable containers altogether, but in the interim, a wider, flatter container/plate/bowl would make this salad easier to eat. This stretch of Highland is fairly quiet in terms of pedestrian traffic as it gets later (plenty of cars, and they can get loud), though if you're eating outside, be mindful of your surroundings--it's Hollywood. All in all, a nice addition to the neighborhood. I'd certainly return to try other things. read more

Wow what a dreadful experience. I came in to meet my sister for lunch. She got there before me and not one other person was in the restaurant earlier this week. I also write blogs for dining experiences and had left them a message asking if they wanted one included for their place but no worries if not and happy to pay and just eat. We were limited on time so she read the menu to me and she ordered both of us chicken kabobs (one with hummus and one with baba ganoosh). I arrived about 25 minutes later and we greeted each other and talked for a few minutes. I asked her if she knew when the food was coming out and she said she didn't know but it was now about 30 minutes. She told me she wanted me to see one of the necklaces that the restaurant sells to see how it looks on her. Then all of a sudden, the owner or manager came out and was rude to us. He said, you have to ask your brother for permission before you buy that necklace? If that is the case, we don't want your business. We said, huh? She wanted my opinion of how it would look. He continued to be rude with snide comments without answering about the food while there was nobody there. How could it take over 35 minutes and he made us feel so uncomfortable. By this time, we did not have interest to stay and eat as it was a such a odd weird vibe with his negative energy. We were so excited to try this Lebonese food but his attitude was a huge turnoff. The food never came out and we had enough anyways and decided to leave. We saw mixed reviews but decided to give this a chance but now understand many of the service complaints and why there was nobody there. The prices were very expensive compared to similar type restaurants but if the food and service are great, that would make up for it. Had a craving for some kabobs last Saturday, so I looked around Yelp for a place close to home so I could grab some take out. I went to Sumac for picking up my food and had the most amazing time meeting with Eli & Fida, the business owners. My take out was really good too. The kabobs were good, but the fattoush was absolutely yummy! It totally stole the scene! Haha! Sumac also offers some great dried fruit snacks at their counter that come in small plastic containers measured for a single serving. These are also incredibly delicious and fresh!
