Echoing all the other reviews, people raved about our wedding food, saying it was the best wedding food they've ever had. I wanted to also add that they went above and beyond to accommodate for our guests many allergies, even though some requests came up at the last hour. This was one of the vendors we were most excited for and they really overdelivered. read more

Madeleine was so kind and helpful through the whole planning process. On the day of our company holiday party, they showed up right on time and ready to go. The food was amazing!!!! I'm not exaggerating - 10/10. We got so much positive feedback from our guests about how good everything was. The servers and chefs were all really friendly and knew what they were doing. Their menu has so many options to choose from, which I loved. We went with 6 tray-passed appetizers and honestly, every single one was delicious. I'll definitely be using them again for future events. Can't recommend Hungry Bear enough! read more

This review is long overdue! We had Hungry Bear cater our wedding this year and they absolutely crushed it!! We had so many guests come up to us during and after the wedding (even months later) saying the food was the best they've ever had at a wedding. Everything from the passed apps to the mains, desserts, and late night food was amazing. Food is a huge priority for us, and we wanted to make damn sure that our wedding food delivered, especially since so many of our friends and family know us as major foodies. We loved Hungry Bear's asian-fusion menu and even the salad was unreal (and I'm not a salad girl...get the Little Gem Salad y'all - it's both beautiful and delicious). We had opted for family style and had hangar steak and miso black cod for the mains (but seriously, you cannot go wrong with any of their choices) and a late night pho station. I'm salivating just reminiscing about the food. The drinks were just as good (feel free to reach out to the team with your favorite flavors/ spirit to brainstorm drink ideas or even give them a specific recipe). I opted for a yuzu gin cocktail as my signature drink, which was delightfully refreshing and very well made. On top of that, the service was next-level. The waiters and bartenders were all very kind, funny, and professional. The team made sure my husband and I were constantly taken care of--full water glasses, plates of food, cocktails, everything. One of my best friend has celiac disease, and a staff member came up and told her she was personally "in charge of her" for the night. She was blown away. I was blown away -- especially since we had our wedding at a "bring your everything" venue where everything was brought in to build a "kitchen" - Hungry Bear made sure that food safety/ cross-contamination was a non-issue. Amazing food, amazing drinks, and genuinely kind, fun, and professional servers and bartenders. Jennie, TJ, and the Hungry Bear team truly go above and beyond. We're already asking ourselves when we can have Hungry Bear cater our next event. Look no further and book your tasting today (trust me, and good luck narrowing down the tasting selections)! Highly, highly recommend. read more

Hungry Bear is AMAZING 10/10. We are major foodies so we wanted our wedding catering to impress, and Hungry Bear over-delivered for our Adamson House Wedding in July 2025. We heard "best wedding food I've ever had" and "I think I had 10 tuna crispy rice apps" from multiple guests. A TON of people also specifically loved the the miso cod. Served family style and there was plenty of food. Staff/Service all excellent. Honestly save yourself a ton of time and just go with Hungry Bear, they are the best. read more

We did A LOT of research into caterers for our wedding, because we wanted the focus of the wedding to be around the food. We spent a lot of our relationship dining out all over LA- literally everything from one and two star Michelin restaurants to taco trucks, so I feel pretty confident to tell people that HB is the caterer you want for your wedding! We did some tastings prior to meeting Hungry Bear and right after the tasting we knew that we wanted to hire them. I'm really picky about how food is seasoned and I had no notes. They did a custom appetizer for the cocktail hour that was a big hit and everyone raved about the food - even the hard-to-please elderly Asian crowd. :) We made some adjustments to the menu after the tasting and it was all noted and executed flawlessly without us having to worry about anything going wrong at the wedding. We also initially didn't want a salad to be served at the wedding so we didn't try it at the tasting and it ended up being one of my favorite things that I ate. Going to warn you that people went BANANAS over the food at cocktail hour so make sure that if you use HB, tell your coordinator to set aside appetizers for you, because it will be overwhelming in a good way. lol. All of our other vendors actually told us after we booked them that HB was their favorite caterer leading up to the wedding, so we had no worries leading up to the event. People raved about the service. I actually was so worried about our guest's food allergies that I almost forgot to tell them about MY OWN dietary restrictions and they took care of me all night. I want someone I know to get married and use HB so I can eat their food again lol Highly recommend getting the squash blossom, do the custom soft shell crab bao, Asian salad, and the crispy loup de mer w/ extra sauce. Since we spent a lot of money on our wedding, it was really important to us to choose our vendors wisely - we wanted to support local, minority-owned businesses whenever possible and we were so happy with Jennie and TJ. read more

5/5 Great experience working with Hungry Bear for our wedding reception. Everything came out perfect - from appetizers to the dinner entrees, our guests were truly impressed by the quality and presentation of the menu items. People could not stop raving about the crab cakes and pork buns during cocktail hour, not to mention the miso carbonara, steak and cod all tasted amazing. Staff and service was excellent as well. What a pleasure to get to experience Hungry Bear catering at the wedding we were privileged to attend last night. Their attention to detail and execution of their delicious dishes were outstanding! As a gluten free/dairy free person (yup, I'm one of those‍) I was impressed with server Melanie who introduced herself and explained that indeed my dishes would be Gluten and Dairy Free. That's HUGE and very much appreciated to not wake with tummy discomfort. The whole menu was delicious! Standouts for me were the hamachi appetizer, perfectly cooked scallop (keep in mind this was a wedding of at least 140 people), my fish, my husband's steak, the ramen bar (they graciously made mine with just toppings and a little broth). Shout out to server Joanne and all the staff who were professional and hard working. You've got an outstanding thing going, Hungry Bear! read more

HBC is the best caterer out there! A few of my friends have booked them in the past and they came highly recommended! My husband and I had a tasting with Jennie and TJ prior to booking and we were blown away by the flavors that we had. The part where they took it to the next level is that we got to sample the miso cod dish which was not one of the ones we originally selected and that became one of our favorites. For the family style meal which was recommended for HBC because of the venue we chose, they would pair the sides with the main course and I can say 10000% they know how to do the perfect pairing. We ended up starting off with an Asian Salad and then miso cod and the braised korean short ribs for the mains along with the sides chinese broccoli and miso carbonara pasta. All our guests kept raving about the dishes and the appetizers so my husband and I are really glad they loved it as much as we did! To end the night we had a pho bar which was a huge hit, the portions were great and it was the perfect way to end the night of drinking and good vibes! Jennie and TJ are the perfect team and their staff is amazing!! Throughout the wedding they would ask us when we wanted to have our appetizers and if we needed anything and even packed us food to go! I can't thank them enough for everything and I can't wait to attend another wedding where they are catering and really enjoy all their amazing dishes! read more

We spent a long time looking for a catering company for our wedding. We were trying to find a company that would allow us to do a multi-course family style dinner and incorporate both Chinese and Korean food in our menu. We were so excited when our search was over after we talked to Jennie on the phone and had a tasting with Jennie and TJ. We were happy with the food items that they offered on their menu, so we did not need to come up with a custom menu. Their menu includes a variety of Asian and Western cuisines. It was hard to narrow down which food items to try for the tasting as well as what to choose for our wedding menu. We appreciated how flexible they were with us when we asked for specific requests such as displaying a whole roast pig during cocktail hour, serving roast pig as one of the entrees, adding extra ice cream flavors, and helping set up the dessert table with outside desserts. Also, we were pleased that the food cost per person was lower than other companies that we had contacted. Our menu included rock shrimp tempura, blue crab rolls, angus beef sliders (beyond meat for vegetarians), baby kale salad, sesame noodles, roasted seasonal vegetables, yuzu striped bass, Korean style braised short ribs, tofu steak (for vegetarians), chicken tenders (for kids), an ice cream station, and mini fruit tarts (for dessert table). They tried their best to feed us during the cocktail hour and the beginning of dinner by setting aside food for us. Unfortunately, our busy and tight schedule made it difficult for us to fully enjoy the food. However, many guests talked about how impressed they were by the taste and quantity of food for the cocktail hour, dinner and dessert. The presentation of the food also looked amazing. Food was one of our main priorities for the wedding, so we were pleased about the guests' responses. We are happy that the food was a highlight of the wedding, and highly recommend Hungry Bear Catering as an event caterer. read more

Hungry Bear was incredible to work with. They were kind, warm, accommodating and the staff was amazing. Our wedding guests all raved about the food. It was incredible. We had asked if desserts could be served at a specific time to coincide with a birthday recognition and it all flowed like clockwork. Our guests couldn't stop talking about how great the flavors were and how kind and friendly the bartender was. When we arrived on the day, there was the potential of rain. The layout changed three times within 30minutes as we negotiated with the venue on adjustments. The entire HB team was patient, understanding, and completely unflustered by it all. We also, leading up to the wedding, made many last minute changes (as I'm sure many couples do.) And Hungry Bear was nothing but kind and supportive. My husband and I couldn't have been happier. They were the ONLY company that heard our needs, understood our price point, and worked with us fully. Not once did we ever feel pressured to add on unnecessary packages or alter the menu for a more extravagant option - the way that other catering companies were pressuring us to do. I couldn't recommend Hungry Bear more and look forward to working with them in the future. read more

You guys... think about your best case scenario with a catering company. Now think about that same scenario 10 times tastier, friendlier, more accommodating, extra personalized, and helpful. THAT is Hungry Bear Catering! I reached out to HBC when I was starting to plan housewarming event and it was so much fun curating a personalized menu of food items we really love. They knocked it out of the park with the menu. My friends and family are still raving about the yummy food days later and I'm so happy I went with this team! Everyone on the team was super friendly and helpful. They came to set up their kitchen but saw how I needed help with my tables and chairs outside and rolled up their sleeves and got to work! That's so kind to recognize your client is in a stressful situation and be willing to offer help outside of your scope! Food was constantly flowing throughout the event of 4+ hours which included a handroll bar (with fish/veggie options of my choosing) and tray passed appetizers! We chose: deep fried cheese-stuffed squash blossoms (yup like the ones at Mother Wolf - drool); taiwanese popcorn chicken sliders; and hawaiian somen salad, alongside a handroll bar with fish of our choosing. Staff was friendly, attentive, and even super uniformly dressed which elevated our guests' experiences. Great and knowledgeable about ingredients and careful about allergies. Love the presentations of everything! They even made a little wasabi heart!! Can't rave about them enough and know that I'll be having them at every big event forever and ever! read more

Great food was one of our priorities with our wedding and Hungry Bear exceeded our expectations. TJ and Jennie were on top of everything from initial inquiry to food tasting until the wedding event. The only problem that we had was choosing from their delectable menu what to serve to our guests because everything looked so good. It's been 4 months since our wedding, and our family and friends still can't stop raving how great the food was: from cocktail appetizers to entrees to desserts to the late-night ramen meal. EVERYTHING WAS SO DELICIOUS. EVERY DISH WAS A HIT. Food was served hot and in great portion sizes too. Their staff were very professional and attentive and made sure that everyone was taken care of. They even came to us to ask if we wanted another serving. We, the bride and groom, were so full because we LOVED the food. Our food was soo good - we would love to have our food again on future wedding anniversaries. That said, we surely highly recommend Hungry Bear Catering for everything and everyone!!! Thank you TJ and Jennie for a memorable and super bomb, delicious, and next level dining experience!! read more

I attended a beautiful house warming party that was catered by Hungry Bear and they did an incredible job at matching the aesthetic and vibes of the event! All of their dishes were unique and incorporated Asian flavors so well. Even the aunties and uncles I were with approved of the food (which they are super hard to impress!) Hungry Bear made this bolo bao with Taiwanese popcorn chicken sliders which was one of my favorites on top of the zucchini flower appetizers. Every one of their dishes looked gorgeous and each flavor was intentional for each bite. I'd love to recommend and book Hungry Bear for future events since I know I'd impress all of my guests! read more

Have you heard of having a 'Say Yes to the Dress' moment? Well, I had that. With food. 'Say yes to the Hanger Steak', 'Say Yes to the Karaage Sliders', and most importantly (no this isn't a typo): 'Say HELL YES to the Miso Carbonara Pasta'. I guess what I'm trying to say here is that the food was awesome - I'll be thinking about it for years to come. In our selection process, we had sampled a few different caterers we wanted to work with for our wedding, but when we sat down with Jennie for our first tasting, the search ended right there. Jennie brought a practical and professional approach to our wedding reception. If we need a kitchen buildout, I've worked with this vendor before for the rentals. If you want to go with someone else, here are the items I need. Food was always going to be the single most important piece of our wedding reception, it's just a huge part of everyone's lives, and boy did Hungry Bear Catering deliver. We had guests come up to us specifically to tell us how awesome the food was! A few folks at cocktail hour even stashed away some of the tray passed appetizers for us to nibble on, they were so good! read more

Food was one of our top 3 important items for our wedding, and man did Hungry Bear knock it out of the park. We had heard nothing but wonderful reviews from friends who used this husband and wife duo, and they were not wrong. We loved working with Jennie and TJ not only because they are sweet and caring humans, but because we loved their passion and gumption that got them through the pandemic. Now onto the food. I am Thai and my husband is Italian/Jewish. We wanted a wedding meal to reflect our love of food & mesh with who we are. Come to find HB had an amazing miso carbonara, that we felt melded the two of us in a fantastic way. After sitting down for our tasting, we could hardly wait the 15ish months to have their food again for our wedding (yes, we literally counted down--it's THAT good). Come wedding day, the food was PHENOMENAL (obviously). Every guest we had raved about how every appetizer and dish was unique, and quite literally the best wedding food they have ever had. The staffing that HB had were all caring, attentive, and truly made our guests feel welcomed and cared for. They made sure my husband and I ate during dinner, and were always on top of refilling any of our cocktails! One of the severs was even kind enough to tell me how moved she was by our ceremony, and it felt like talking to a friend. I cannot say enough good things about Hungry Bear, and we are so so beyond pleased that we had them as a part of our wedding day team. Wishing we could do it all over again, and recommending them to every engaged couple we know. We're just hoping we get the chance to eat their amazing food again. Thank you Jennie & TJ!!! read more

Early in our planning, my partner and I decided that having a great meal at our wedding was top priority. After careful consideration, we chose Hungry Bear to handle our catering, rentals, and bar service. Chef Jennie and TJ exceeded our expectations every step of the way. They impressed us with their delicious offerings during the tasting, helped us with all our questions, and delivered impeccable service throughout. We chose a family-style meal to create an intimate atmosphere akin to sharing a feast with loved ones around a dining table. The service was efficient, and every dish arrived hot and perfectly prepared. The amount of guests who said it was a delicious meal filled us with joy. Wowooww. I cannot say enough good things. We went to the tasting and were already amazed at the food but when it came to the wedding, it somehow tasted even better than the tasting. Jennie just went above and beyond for our guests. She made separate dishes (that i heard tasted amazing!!) for our guests with dairy allergies. She puts in so much care and detail into her food and service that I wish I could get married again just to experience Hungry Bear all over again. The appetizers were SO GOOD. The pork belly bao was full of flavor and super tender. The blue crab roll was delish too. The pop of ikura was *chefs kiss*. The hangar steak was excellent - super tender. The miso carbonara was amazing - pasta was perfectly al denta with lots of greens. Everyone could not stop talking about the miso black cod. I heard someone who went back for 4 more pieces!! The salad. Even the salad was really good - the salt roasted beets were delicious. I don't think any of our guests said anything short of amazing about any of the food. read more

Honestly, it was so annoying and stressful trying to just reach them and once we did, they barely even listened. After numerous attempts emailing and calling, we finally got a response and I mentioned on the phone the number of guests I had and what menu items we wanted. The quote comes back... it's a different number of guests and a few of the food items were different than I requested. I ask them about both these things. They addressed the different menu items, but completely ignored my other mention of the wrong guest number and never gave me a new quote for it. Fine. Everyone says the food is so good, we figured we should just go to the tasting and we'll figure out the new quote and menu once we move forward with the booking. Well, we went to the tasting and were pretty disappointed. I want to be fair, the food was mostly above average for weddings and the skirt steak was very delicious. But that was one item that we loved, and with these reviews we expected so much more. I've had tastier appetizers and salmon at other tastings. And the moment we realized we did not want to go with this caterer is when we were talking about which appetizers we would choose, and realized we wanted to switch out every appetizer we tried. If they had been communicative and actually listened to what we were saying, I would've probably given 4 stars. I truly do not like leaving negative reviews, but this was just such a frustrating and stressful experience just trying to have simple communication with them. read more

We just had our wedding on the lunar new year and Hungry Bear catered such a beautiful dining experience with delicious food and beverages. Their food style was visually stunning, modern, clean, refined and just POPPED. Our guests went crazy. I would give them 100 stars for this. They catered to the dietary needs of our guests and the tray passed appetizers even included a specialty veggie dumpling to celebrate the new year! We chose family-style for dinner and it was perfect! TJ and Jennie lead an amazing catering team both in the kitchen and during service, which was so professional. Everyone raved about what they ate and Hungry Bear truly made the evening unforgettable. If we had to choose one area for improvement, it would be on the need for clearer and more prompt communication with the client prior to 2 weeks before the event. Food was one of our top categories for our wedding because... we really like food. And we wanted to select a catering vendor that could fuse our Asian American backgrounds in a modern elevated way. Hungry Bear is EXACTLY THAT, and we were so excited to learn they were in budget for us and a great vibe fit. We got SO MANY comments and compliments on the food from SO MANY OF our guests (we knew we would!) so don't take our word for it: Text from a guest: "You won't see this until later, but THIS SALAD IS SO GOOD I could spend the rest of my life eating this salad and be satisfied OMG THE SALMON IS REALLY GOOD TOO" Comment from my new mother-in-law: "The hanger steak was really excellent, maybe we can go there to eat sometime at their restaurant" (had to tell her there's no restaurant :( ) I would say that the one thing we wish was slightly better is sometimes they can be a bit delayed to respond to emails (they're very busy!) so sometimes we needed to track them down by phone, but they definitely always came through when we needed anything. Will be recommending them to all our friends, selfishly so that we can eat their food again :P read more

Jenny and her team exceeded all our expectations for our wedding! We evaluated 9 different caterers and spoke to half a dozen couples that had their wedding in the area. Our guests raved about the food, and the presentation perfectly fit the upscale vibe we were aiming for. Not only was food top-notch, but the service was also outstanding. The staff demonstrated the utmost professionalism, ensuring guests felt warmly welcomed and taken care of. We hired Jennie and her team for our wedding this past weekend and they were very efficient and accommodating to our needs. We were worried the food wouldn't be as good as when we first tried it during the initial tasting because we had to do a kitchen build out (since we didn't have a functioning kitchen at the venue). Usually when you go to weddings, the food either comes out cold or it's not enough, leaving guests hungry for more. But not only did the food come out hot, but it was just as amazing as when we first tried it during our tasting.
