Crustacean is an experience. The atmosphere is so beautiful and welcoming. The restaurant is large and spacious. The bar is exquisite and the couches are comfy. My favorite part though are the koi fish that swim under your feet as you walk inside. Love the aquarium floor. My favorite feature here. Vietnamese fusion food is something different. A special experience not so easy to find in Los Angeles. And Chef Helene An is a master at her craft! Everything I've ever tried here has been superb. Furthermore, there's really something for everyone. They even have vegan options. The garlic noodles is what she's famous for and they are a MUST. Crustacean is pricey so I usually come here for lunch. They have a prix-fix lunch menu. I also came once for a birthday. I had a gift card which I was so excited to use. It was the best birthday lunch ever. Service, as usual, was amazing and super friendly and everyone there signed a card for me. The food was superb, as always. It is one of my happiest memories celebrating my birthday at a restaurant. I hope Crustacean finds another location to continue the legacy of this wonderful place. It truly is one of a kind and will be missed.

Asian fusion x fine dining perfected...of Vietnamese heritage, born in San Francisco, but…read moreiconically Beverly Hills. Enter Chef Helene An, whose family in the 1970's purchased a small Italian deli in San Francisco & started selling Vietnamese food. When the locales weren't exactly taking to the more ethnic flavors, Chef An brilliantly decided to combine the roots of her Vietnamese upbringing that were more conducive to the American palate, in turn, perfecting Asian-American fusion cuisine. DRINK: Jalisco to Saigon - 8.5 / 10 I've been on a "tequila kick" as of late & this cocktail of blanco + reposado fit the bill. Be careful though, the black salt that rims the glass brings a smokiness that's not for the feint of heart. FOOD: | Appetizers | Tuna Cigars - 9.0 / 10 Quite easily the most popular appetizer on their menu - at least the most social media friendly. Don't let the stunning presentation fool you. The flavors & textures run the entire gamut: you have the crispiness of the wonton wrapper, with the softness of the tuna, the rich, brininess of the caviar, the sour bite of the squeeze of lime, & of course the smokiness of the, well, smoke. Being presented in a cigar box filled with smoke, this small plate is the one to get if you could only order one. Truffle Chicken Dumplings - 8.6 / 10 My good friend loves truffles & in effect, introduced me to & is directly responsible for my love of truffles. This dish was a "no-brainer". The chicken & sauce was delicate enough to let the earthy truffles shine through. The chili oil ponzu adds a surprisingly nice, acidic + spice pop. Caviar & Crispy Langoustine Roll - 8.0 / 10 An amuse-bouche of a classic Filipino-style "lumpia" egg roll, but with the most sophisticated of ingredients. This appetizer embodies classic Asian techniques with American / European ingredients. The crispy egg roll wrapper carefully encases delicate pieces of langoustine. The Winter Citrus Sweet Chili is the classic sweet chili sauce that everyone knows as the quintessential Asian condiment. The bit of Royal Kaluga Caviar is the fancy upgrade that elevates this rather humble dish to the upper echelon of "fine dining". |Entrées| Himalayan Salt Block Steak | All Natural Prime Ribeye, 16oz - 9.6 / 10 I love my ribeye & theirs is no exception. But here, you get the beauty of having it finished on a giant-sized slate of Himalayan Salt Block. No, it's not too salty. As someone who's admittedly hyper sensitive to salt (I prefer to never add additional salt whenever possible), I wish that I could finish all of my steaks on a "hot-as-a-grill" Himalayan salt block. AN's Famous Garlic Noodles with Dungeness Crab - 9.8 / 10 The dish that literally built the Crustacean empire & the "Crown Jewel" of the An family legacy. The embodiment of Asian fusion cuisine. The story goes that Chef Helene would make spaghetti for her children on special occasions. But because it was rather pricey, she modified the Italian-American staple & put her own twist. Now, that twist is iconic & beloved my many around the world. I now understand why this dish is on some people's "Last Meal" requests. Granted, I've been known to order Yard House's rendition, this is the original, & in essence, perfect. Every bite is a lovely mouthful of garlic & complex Asian flavors - salty soy, floral ginger, nutty sesame & a plethora of complex ingredients known only to the those permitted to prepare this dish in their secret kitchen. A "must-order" when you come here. Granted, we also ordered a variant with lobster, the dungeness crab is the way to go. Biggest props for the presentation of the shell. I've never seen a place that has extracted every piece of dungeness crab for your dining pleasure. Truly an iconic + timeless dish. | DESSERT | "Ice Cream Parlor" Vanilla Ice Cream with Berries - 1.2 / 10 Given the extenuating circumstances of the restaurant's surprise closing (with intent to find a new location), no liquid nitrogen means that their usual vanilla ice cream couldn't be prepared table side. In effect, that's what I think "makes" this dish. Otherwise, you're paying a hefty six dollars for a meager scoop of Tahitian vanilla ice cream (which you can get a comparable portion at a nearby Whole Foods), garnished by 2 blueberries & a single blackberry. I'll have to visit their new location to see this made table side. Warm Beignets - 7.8 / 10 A recommendation by our server. These did not disappoint. Fresh, warm pillows of tender, but flaky, dough. The Vietnamese Coffee Crème Anglaise is another shining example of why Chef Helene An is the "Mother of Fusion Cuisine". The classic tastes of a Vietnamese Coffee, but in a more non-traditional format of a silky, not-overly-indulgent sauce. Huge shoutout to our server, Leland, who was beyond phenomenal & made us feel more than welcomed. I look forward to following Crustacean (Beverly Hills) to their next location & chapter in their already renowned storied history & legacy.

The staff also wears gloves when handling food. There are no hand sanitizers available for customers to use. This place is available for take outs and has some indoor & outdoor seating available with limited capacity. They are not sanitizing in between customers. I mention these things in my reviews for the sake of protecting immunocompromised people like the elderly and people sick with cancer and other illnesses. COVID-19 Vaccination Proof: This establishment currently does not require proof of vaccination. While I was eating my food in this establishment, I asked if they had any special offers and they weren't offering any at the moment. They currently do have happy hour. They also do not allow pets in their establishment UNLESS it's a service animal. Parking: They only have valet parking here. Valet parking is $15 not including tip. Apparently during peak business hours or during the holidays, they will jack up the prices for valet parking. You have been warned! The best part about solo dining is eating whatever the hell I want without any judgement or pushbacks from other people. And I could eat at my own pace and people watch. Food and Drinks: At the bar, I ordered their famous berries and bubbles cocktail. It is famously crafted with a mix of citrus-infused vodka, fresh lemon juice, marinated blackberries, and a splash of brut, topped with dry ice to create a billowing, theatrical smoke effect. This drink was incredibly fruity and refreshing. The perfect alcoholic beverage for the summer. When I finally got my own table, I ordered their famous jumbo lump crab cake, lobster bisque, and caviar as my three appetizers. The jumbo lump crab cake is a signature appetizer here at Ocean Prime. I like their generous portion of premium crab meat and its elegant presentation. It is served alongside a sweet and sour slaw and a zesty horseradish mustard aioli. The crab cake was very tender and sweet. It balances the richness of the crab with the bright, slightly spicy kick of the aioli. It was baked to perfection. The lobster bisque was so yummy and creamy. It is a rich, velvety soup made with tender lobster meat and a flavorful broth. I like that they have generous, tender pieces of butter-poached Maine lobster in the soup. Ah yes. The Sturgeon caviar. Yes, I am a fancy and extra woman, and I have extremely expensive taste in food. I love me some artisanal caviar. Yum! Anyways, this wasn't on their menu, and I had to special request this. Caviar served on mini pancakes?!?! Say less! I loved how fluffy and soft the mini pancakes were. The caviar had a luxurious, buttery texture. It also had a subtle briny flavor. I found that the caviar bursts on the palate rather than tasting overly fishy. Honestly, putting the caviar on top of the sweet mini pancakes was brilliant because the mini pancakes acted as a neutral canvas so the distinct briny taste of the caviar could shine through. Moreover, I ordered the lobster linguine and sea scallops. The lobster linguine is a popular seafood entrée featuring fresh al dente cooked linguine tossed with succulent lobster meat, roasted tomato butter, arugula, chili flakes, and freshly grated parmesan. Btw, I hate arugula, so I asked the staff to remove it from this dish. Flavor wise, this dish had a delicate balance of rich roasted tomato butter and a kick of spice from chili flakes. I'm a sucker for all things pasta, so this dish hit the spot and satisfied my pasta craving. The sea scallops were fire!!! The jumbo sea scallops were perfectly seared to a golden brown, moist, and tender. The sea scallops were severed on a bed of lobster risotto. The lobster risotto was very rich and creamy. They used a rich Arborio rice cooked with chunks of melt in your mouth lobster, roasted tomatoes, and a savory shellfish. This dish won my heart. And finally, for desserts, I ordered their famous 10 layer carrot cake and creme brûlée. Now, normally, I hate carrot cakes, but since this was highly recommended, I decided to give this a shot. Needless to say, I still hate carrot cake, but I could appreciate this restaurant's take on this dessert. The cake itself was very moist and tasted spicy due to the cinnamon, nutmeg, and ginger. This dessert is layered with lots of cheese icing and pineapple syrup. I found the cream cheese icing and whipped cream to be extremely delectable, but that's about it. The creme brûlée is a classic and indulgent dessert featuring a rich, velvety vanilla custard, a perfectly crisp caramelized sugar crust, and fresh seasonal berries. I loved the warm and crunchy top, and I truly enjoyed the rich, vanilla-scented custard. Staff: The staff here are very welcoming, attentive, and chill. They accept both cash and credit cards. There is no credit card minimum.

I ordered Numm Napa Rose Sparkling Wine and I was served Numm Napa Rose Sparkling Wine. It was $16/glass. I ended up paying for two glasses I did not have $76 instead of $32 for two glasses of sparkling rose. Never ever going back to this place. Even the bread service was remarkable, particularly the focaccia, which was the standout among the three varieties offered. The house-made pastas were each cooked to perfection and showcased the kitchen's exemplary technique and care. We also shared the Fagiolo, Peperone, and Patate as vegetable sides, and each one was excellent. We concluded our meal with a trio of house-made gelati for a sweet finish. The sweet cream and pistachio flavors were both especially memorable and well worth saving a little room for. The first bite gives you that textbook contrast chefs chase: a thin, savory Maillard snap, then cool, silky flesh that still tastes of the sea rather than smoke, which tells me it was hit hard over heat to render the skin and pulled off at the precise moment before the proteins tightened. Grilled lemon halves, their edges caramelized, are doing real work here--squeezes of that charred citrus cut through the fish's natural oiliness--while the thin ribbons of pickled red onion and peppery microgreens supply the bright, acidic punctuation that keeps the palate moving. Slices of avocado act as a soft, creamy foil, lengthening the finish without smothering the fish, and the halved cherry‑tomato salad looks lightly dressed so you get clean sweetness and a crisp counterpoint rather than a soggy, overdressed side. From a technical standpoint I appreciate the fundamentals: even scoring or oiling of the skin to prevent sticking, careful timing so the flakes separate cleanly, and a sparing hand with seasoning so the brine of the fish isn't lost under salt or heavy sauces. Many places feel compelled to gild seafood with every trendy condiment; here, the restraint is refreshing and, frankly, rarer than it should be. Service matched the cooking: friendly, knowledgeable, and happy to steer us through the menu with solid recommendations, which matters when a kitchen is doing delicious things well. The restaurant itself is calm and clean, a peaceful setting with a bar that lets the food speak, and last time I was there they were in the process of securing a beer and wine license--good news, because this kind of balanced, grill‑forward cooking benefits from a thoughtful pour. In short, this meal stands out because it trusts the ingredient: confident grilling, smart acid, and honest accompaniments that clarify rather than compete, leaving you satisfied and already thinking about the next visit. As for the house-made salsa: stainless ramekins on a white plate, each with its own tiny spoon - bright yellow emulsion, lacquered dark reduction, smoky-red chile purée, and a chunky herb relish. The emulsion is silky and tangy, perfect for cutting fat; the dark sauce is sticky, umami-forward and built to cling; the red one carries smoke on oil and is medium-hot; the relish snaps with fresh acid and crunch. Important heads-up: one of these is a ghost-pepper style salsa - extremely spicy, slow-building and long-lingering, so use it as a finish, not a dunk. Execution is tidy: no broken emulsion, measured viscosities, portioned so flavors don't bleed - practical, disciplined work. In an era of one-trick "house sauce" laziness, this quartet gives you tools, not excuses, and it elevates whatever's on the grill without stealing the show. I'll definitely be back here!

Service was fine, but nothing special. We were greeted, seated and the waitress took our orders. Once the food arrived, our waitress barely came by again except towards the end to drop off our check. Other staff did come by to clear our empty plates from the table, so that was nice. We did notice that they only provided 1 serving spoon for all of our dishes. Would've liked a serving utensil with each dish to minimize cross-contamination and mixing of flavors. Throughout our dining, there were flies and small bugs flying around, which was off-putting and annoying as we had to keep swatting them away from landing on our food. 1. Farmhouse Beet Salad (5/5) It's a good thing this was the 1st dish to arrive at our table as it left a good 1st impression. The roasted organic beets were fresh and had that earthy-tone to it. Dressed with their lemon-oregano vinaigrette, feta, arugula, and candied pecans. OMG, those candied pecans were heavenly. It's crunchy and toasted to perfection. the candied flavor of it was addictingly delicious. If they have a menu item of candied pecans, I'll order it any day. 2. Trio Taco (2.5/5) You can choose between chicken, steak, shrimp, plant-based chicken, or jackfruit. We opted for steak. The steak was fine, but for BBQ sauce used was just a dish killer. They need to rethink the choice of sauce used in these tacos. Also, not a fan of corn tortilla. Wish they gave a choice between corn and flour tortilla. 3. Artisan Bread & Butter (5/5) Their sourdough bread sliced, grilled and brushed generously with garlic olive oil. Severed with a side of whipped duckfat butter. I've never had duck fat butter before, so this was a pleasant experience to try. Not to worry, there's no duck flavor at all. It's almost like cream cheese but lighter and airer. 4. Ahi Filet (1.5/5) Sesame-crusted ahi with a side wasabi aioli. The ahi was so-so; definitely, not the freshest and there's no "melt-in-your mouth" joy. The wasabi aioli sauce was good though. There is a subtle spice kick from the wasabi. It's served with a side of soba noodles that was gingery and peanuty in flavor. Unfortunately, the noodles were overcooked as they stuck to each other in clumps. 5. Bacon & Blue Burger (4.5/5) Quite a satisfying burger consisting of wagyu beef, duroc bacon, aged blue cheese, caramelized onions, and arugula. It's juicy, meaty, slightly tangy from the horseradish aioli and sweet from the port wine reduction. The brioche bun was pleasantly soft. 6. Thai Ginger Salad (3/5) This salad consists of romaine lettuce as the base. It is dressed with Thai sesame dressing, which was underwhelming. The toppings for this salad include fresh mango cubes, slaw, slices of avocado, fresh peanut bits, tomato and soba noodles. It's not a bad salad, but for the price, I do not think it is worth it. 7. Superfood Longevity Salad (4/5) A salad consisting of mixed greens (lacinato kale and spring mix) with a variety of rich, nutritious toppings (organic beets, quinoa, pomegranate, radish, blueberries, almonds, dried Bing cherries, and pepitas). The dressing is a sherry vinaigrette that's tangy, creamy and light. All the ingredients came together well. If you are looking for a hearty salad, this is for you. 8. Hibiscus Rosé (4/5) Sparkling rosé with hibiscus flavor infused with grapefruit skin to give it a bit of citrus note and topped off with a micro flower to add a special touch of decor to the drink. In summary, the food looks better than it actually tastes. Come here if you want to eat out with a large party for celebration, but otherwise, I wouldn't recommend it for a special night out as the price does not justify the experience.
