I used to go to Marix almost every week when I first moved to Los Angeles. No one was more disappointed than I was when it closed. So when I heard that it had reopened I was thrilled. I was so afraid that I was gonna be disappointed because the old Marix was really hard to live up to. But I could not have been more wrong. It's like I went back in time! The food is excellent! And of course you start every meal with the complementary chips and salsa. The margaritas are insanely good. The only difference is that they're served in tumblers instead of the traditional margarita glasses. One sip and the familiar essence of the perfect margarita is revisited. The Server is no longer wear the custom T-shirts, but the service was just as excellent. We were greeted at the front door with a pleasant compliment and seated almost immediately. In a time of inflation and high prices, Marix has the same prices as it did when I first started going there. My margarita was $10 on a boulevard where the average price of a drink is $25. No need to worry about water down drinks here. One sip and I was happily tipsy. I had the famous shrimp, margaritas, and they were just as delicious if not better than before. The vegetables were fresh. The tortillas were amazing and the shrimp had that snap that you want with every bite. The roof still opens and the noise complaints have apparently been squashed by the owners purchasing nearby residences. The mirrors on the wall have been repainted so they're freshly bright and colorful. The crowd is a little younger than I remembered. But of course that's because I've grown older. It's still rambunctious and delightful. And I'm so glad it's back.

Delicious margarita!

Marix is back ... and all I can say is FINALLY!! One of my favorite spots ever, and having it reopened in Weho after a 5-year closure did not disappoint. The margaritas are as strong and delicious as ever, the chips and guac are plentiful, and the fajitas are big enough to share with a friend (hot tip: get the blackened chicken for a little extra spice). And the best part? They kept their 2019 pricing! A pitcher of margaritas is under $30. Do yourself a favor and come here immediately -- Weho's fave neighborhood spot is BACK!

Bobby, the server is great! I had the crunchy chicken tacos, so delicious! Of course got a picture of the kick ass margaritas. Service was fast. Dog friendly in the front patio! I'll definitely be coming back. Hopefully Bobby will be my server again. He made the experience so much fun!

The famous Marix Tex Mex Cafe finally re-opened after Covid. What a delight to have one of the good 'ol' restaurants come back again with some of the prior staff members that keep this place fabulous. The food was amazing and delicious and it's already on our list to frequently repeat. The ambiance is casual, clean and nice - but for those who have never been here, the seating is cramped up to one-another BUT is totally okay because the guests are all fabulous. We had the pitcher of Marix Margaritas with free chips and salsas, ordered the guacamole which was fantastic. Follow d by the Enchiladas Suizas and the Jorge's Crab+Shrimp Enchiladas. Honestly, the Jorge's was much better than the Suizas. Marix is a happening place - so come and enjoy a nice dinner or brunch and some splendid drinks. Upon re-opening, the prices remain the same when they closed in 2019 (I think this continues for one year). Marix is a must.

Marix is iconic. Period. Is the food great? It's very passable. SO glad it's back in WeHo. A fun, gay good time. Pre-pandemic pricing and sweet present staff don't hurt.

Located in West Hollywood Marix Tex Mex restaurant is a fun place to go for drinks and dinner. When you walk in your greeted with big smiles and great energy. The host, the servers and the bartenders all love being there and it shows. This is a great place to bring a date, family or people from the office. It's a social, friendly and flirty atmosphere. The inside is very charming and they have a big sky ceiling that opens up, which is perfect for Southern California. The margaritas are very generous and the food is absolutely delicious. We are definitely making this restaurant on our monthly rotation.! Marix Tex Mex in West Hollywood gets our five star yelp review and our personal recommendation! You will go and have a great time bon appétit!

I have been to Marix on a few occasions since their re-opening. Sadly, it is no longer the fun, lively and tasty place I once knew. My last visit was on Halloween 2025 and it was okay. Ambiance: Pleasant Service: Okay Food: Okay. Their pitcher of margarita (skinny) was nothing to holler about and a bit pricey for the majority of the pitcher to be ice and not margarita. Overall, I rate Marix a 3 on a scale from 1 to 5, 5 being great. If you haven't been back since the reopening, give Marix a try. Hopefully, your experience will be a 4 or a 5.

This beloved neighborhood bar is back! Serving its classic margarita by the pitcher and comforting Tex-Mex favorites. For a lot of folks, this place holds lots of memories so many are glad that it's back! The space is small and they don't take reservations so you will most likely have to wait a bit. Since it's newly reopened, we got there around 5:45 and didn't get seated until about 7 for a party of 5. All was good because we were at the bar drinking margaritas in the meantime. I got the Steak Fajitas and they came out on a sizzling hot plate. Also recommend getting the Apple Pie with Vanilla Ice Cream dessert! It also comes out sizzling with delicious caramel all around!!

Looking for a casual, affordable, and socially-vibey restaurant in Weho...? Marix is officially back and open. You can tell when you walk in that this is a favorite among the locals. I stepped in early on a Friday night, and the space was buzzing with everyone celebrating happy hour to early dinner bites before a night out. There are no reservations here, but you don't need one... although you may have to wait a bit for a table during peak hours on the weekends. The food is pretty standard Tex Mex, I think the tacos I had were pretty solid and a decent price for restaurant tacos. The Margaritas here are a decent deal, we had a few Watermelon margaritas that night. Finish off with the sizzling Apple Pie for a little fun treat. All in all, an easy spot to come in over again... with my love of breakfast burritos I may try to come back during brunch hours sometime

Food was good, ambiance was nice and service was excellent. For me, the place was too loud. If you do not mind, I can recommend the place. Just make sure you come early. They do not take reservations and the line was long.

Good value and better than average food. It's a popular spot so be prepared to wait for a table and order a margarita while you wait.

Their bouncer decided that a lighthearted exchange we were having with a bouncer at a neighboring bar was a fight. It was not. It was casual banter -- the kind that happens between people on a busy street. They did ask us what was going on -- but it didn't matter. They had already made up their minds and simply didn't care what we had to say. No benefit of the doubt, no reconsideration. Just a flat-out refusal to let us in -- not to drink, not to sit down, just to pick up food. I wanted the kale! steak dish! The kicker: we walked straight over to the bar we were allegedly "fighting" with and were let right in without a second thought. Because there was never anything to begin with. We didn't go back to El Tejano. If your door staff is turning away paying customers over imaginary conflicts and ignoring their explanation, you don't deserve the business.

This place gets packed QUICK! The interior was dark and well decorated with fun things. My husband said that's what his mom's house used to look like lol He already knew what he wanted as he was the one who picked here for lunch. I looked over the menu and just had to try the flautas. I went with the shredded beef as that's my favorite from my usual place. They were very good and very full! We also had chips and salsa, salsa had a nice soft kick to it and the chips were crispy. For my entree, I ordered the ground beef enchilada and taco plate. I already knew it was too much food, but I still continued. Everything was delicious. The rice and the beans were good and the taco was crunchy. Overall everything was good. We did notice that as the place filled up, it was harder to get service. I will keep that in mind for next time, to just ask for the check when we know we are finished ordering.

I was able to get refunded for this charge . My friend and I ordered a "blended fruit margarita" to which we received chunky watered down tequila with no distinct flavor. I ordered the Peach and my friend ordered the Mango which looked like Pineapple... We started off with appetizers that shouldn't be hard to mess up... I got the beef flautas with the flour tortilla. It looked like mini egg rolls with the toppings in the middle and the flautas tasted undercooked. The chips, salsa, and guac were the only thing I found decent from the meal. They could improve by cooking the flautas in corn tortillas or frying the flour tortilla longer.

The decor filled with old black and white photos, the energy of the restaurant, and even having two full bars gave the place a fun, authentic vibe that instantly stood out. Our server was attentive, friendly, and made great recommendations. I ordered the carne asada with shrimp, and the flavor was incredible perfectly grilled with that smoky, straight off the grill taste that you hope for but rarely get. My girlfriend ordered the beef taquitos and loved them. We both had margaritas. I went with the classic on the rocks with salt, and she had the strawberry margarita, which was equally great. What really shocked us was how FAST the food came out. I kid you not... warp speed. Usually when food comes out that quick, quality suffers not here. Everything was fresh, hot, flavorful, and plated perfectly. Living in Hollywood, this honestly felt like a breath of fresh air: great service, quality food, strong drinks, and an overall experience that actually lives up to the reputation. By the time we left, there was already a line of cars waiting for parking, so I highly recommend arriving early for parking and shorter wait times. - Ian Lantz
