Visited Crustacean for the first time - I understand they are closing after a long stint in the neighborhood. The experience and food were average - which was surprising. The nerdy side of me loves the floor with the aquarium and large fish swimming under foot. We sat outside - which was good people watching. The bone-in ribeye served on the hot slab was perfectly cooked - everything else was ok. Our server was knowledgeable about the menu and we saw a magician walking around entertaining tables.
Ambience is trendy and sexy. Valet parking available. The food is phenomenal. The restaurant is close to high-end stores.
Legendary spot known for it's Vietnamese Fusion cuisine, vibe, and the river of koi underneath. Above all, they're known for their secret family kitchen items, particularly the garlic noodles, which are often copied but never exactly replicated. On the eve of their closing, I've visited twice in recent weeks and last night we indulged in the garlic roasted Dungeness crab and lobster from the "secret kitchen". I ordered the crab out of the shell and the crab meat was beautifully presented beneath a glossy crab shell. I had the garlic noodles on the side and they were perfectly al dente and full of flavor, the perfect accompaniment to enjoy bites of both simultaneously. The lobster was served over the garlic noodles which absorbed the roasted juices. I asked for an appetizer suggestion and the server immediately suggested the tuna cigars which are presented in a cigar box which emits "smoke" when opened to reveal the two cigars. They were ok. I would have opted for the salt and pepper calamari without the suggestion and wished I had chosen that instead. It was about the presentation. My companion had the Yin & Yang cocktail so much she had two and really enjoyed the balance of flavors and coconut. She had hoped for the tableside ice cream but they were out of the "magic". Overall it was a delicious and well-paced meal. It was a fitting indulgence and splurge for a last meal at such a special place. We plan to stay in touch to enjoy any pop-up events to get our Crustacean fix until they re-open again. Thank you for all the special dining moments over the years.
Friend and I wanted to stop by before they relocated and we're glad we did despite the menu being limited and items we wanted to try running out (e.g. Duck potstickers, shrimp toast, mushroom, etc)... Was able to make a same day, 1 hour prior last minute reservation for 8:45pm at the patio. Despite being seated almost immediately amongst the crowd of people waiting, we didn't get seen by a waiter for like 15 minutes. Thankfully we ordered right away because we wouldn't be attended to for a good chunk of time in between. - Aqua Panna Still $9.00 - Tuna Cigars $22.00: smokey, nutty, and a smidge floral - this has the taste of the cigar box it's served in. - Garlic Noodles $22.00: wish it was more al dente, but strong garlic flavor. Have had comparable for more affordable costs elsewhere tho. - Cauliflower & Brussels Sprouts $20: basic, but tasty! I would get this again lol - Lychee Cloud $14: Coconutty mixed with lychee. interesting - Crab Puffs 4pc $18.00: I thought this was OK, but friend liked it a lot! strong crab flavor - Classic Banana Ala Mode $17.00: yummy non-traditional viet fried bananas with ice cream. Would get again - Special Occasion Desert: Jasmine sorbet - tasty Overall, I've had better, but I appreciate the individuality of some of the menu items, like the tuna cigars. Free parking at the 485 N Beverly Drive Garage after 6PM Mon - Sat. across the restaurant (not at the parking structure that has the barrier arms which is like $5 for 4 hours)
I finally tried Crustacean and ordered the Turmeric Mule, Cloud Mocktail, Wagyu Fried Rice, Garlic Noodles, Sea Bass, and Beignets. The Cloud Mocktail was disappointing. It lacked depth of flavor and was overall underwhelming. The Garlic Noodles absolutely lived up to the hype and were the standout dish of the meal. The Wagyu Fried Rice was also very good, although I wasn't sure what the pineapple added to the dish. The Sea Bass was decent but lacked flavor for the price point and felt overpriced. On the positive side, the portions were generous with the exception of the Sea Bass, and the Beignets were a delicious way to end the meal. Overall, I enjoyed the experience, but I found the restaurant somewhat overhyped. While the food was good, it wasn't memorable enough for me to return.
I will give Crustacean **** four stars. The 5th star is not a penalty per se for anything that went wrong, it's a somewhat subjective perspective and opinion... It's either that the portions are small for the price per entree or the price is too high for the portions served. At best, if you come here to eat "family style" where you order to share among a group, every dish seems to serve 2 people as a series of mini appetizers that you need to order 4-6 dishes/servings per "couple" (pair of diners) and once you pass 2 patrons, if you want everyone to try every dish, you need to double the order to 2 or more portions. This is an elite prestigious restaurant however and expect to budget about $150-200 per person without drinks. It's unique and a great experience. They suggest a 20% tip. Valet parking is $20, alternatively there are adjacent public parking options much cheaper. Tax is approx 9.75% in California. Factor in all of that on the budget of your bill where $300 food bill grows to $400 total out of pocket after tax and tip and parking.
Been to the SF location and with the recent news of this location closing(moving to a different location) I was enticed to visit before they moved. In the middle of Beverly Hills this place had that cool casual LA vibe. Where stars were regulars and the all guests were cared for. They did say the attire was business chic but people were able to pull off shirt slacks and tennis shoes. With Two stories the first floor was the main dining more intimate as the second floor was more spacious. The service was top notch. Arrived an hour early for our reservation was accommodated. The servers were quite attentive. They even recognized that I had dropped my napkin during the meal and before I can pick it up they came to the table to offer me a new one. The servers knew the menu well. Even offered a perfect drink to pair with the amazing food, a tequila based drink with coconut agave lime and Black Sea salt on the rim. I could've easily had 5 of those. First to our table were the crab wontons it was a creamy seafood delight, I wish the wonton wrapper near the center of the item was as crispy as the edges. All in all it's flavor profile was spot on as the flavor of crab definitely stood out. I recommend nibbling at it as it It came out piping hot so I def nearly burned my tongue off as I popped the entire wonton in my mouth. A few moments after finishing the wontons the Vietnamese chicken oyster skewers arrived which had the perfect subtle char and smokiness with the sweet soy ginger sauce coating the tender juicy meat. The pickled veggies added a refreshing flavor to round out the savory flavor of the grilled chicken. Main entrees we decided on the The garlic noodles, the garlic roasted Dungeness crab, Prime filet mignon shaken beef. I really wanted to get the wagyu fried rice but the server advised us that what we had ordered was plenty. All three dishes arrived at the same time, The garlic noodles was Al dente not greasy and perfectly infused with a garlic, the crab arrived pre deconstructed as I didn't want to end up flicking crab shells all ofer the place. Huge chunks of Crab along with shredded peices. Eaten with the noodles made it the perfect combo. The filet mignon shaken beef reminded me of a lomo saltado as it had all the elements sautéed tomatoes, red onion, fried potatoes. The beef was medium rare and tender, wish I could've ordered a bowl of white rice to complement the intense flavor of the shaken beef. The server was right we order just enough to be stuffed. At the end she asked if we wanted dessert and I pointed at my belly saying we were unable to take another bite of anything. The server than said "that's ok you don't want to go beyond your pleasure point" she was right we were in food ecstasy. Over all an awesome place for a great meal and good vibes. And if you're lucky like me you might spot a famous actor
Crustacean was such a great restaurant. The staff was very friendly and they had great recommendations. For appetizers, the tuna cigars and lobster dumplings tasted amazing. The smokiness of the tuna just made it better and the bite of caviar was reall my delicious. For the main course, I ordered the garlic noodles with crab, and shaken beef. Both were enjoyable. The crab was packed with flavor. I chose to crack my own crab and while it was a chore, it felt worth it for the freshness. The restaurant itself was busy but they were quick to serve. They had nice decor and the seating was comfortable.
Crustacean is unfortunately closing on July 27. The reason I am giving 3 stars is due to poor ownership/management. I heard that the workers only found out the establishment was closing a week prior to actual closing date. Food was delicious but expect to pay $150-$200 per person if you want the full experience. By that, I mean adding deluxe seafood items to the garlic noodles (totally worth IMO). Tuna cigar was AMAZING and the caviar topping was just BAM fish taste in your face. The jasmine panna cotta is one of the best desserts I have ever had. 10/10 service
Crustacean is scheduled to close during the last week of July in 2026. We love the garlic noods and crabs so we found time to visit before they disappear. This time around, we tried some appetizers and got the crab and garlic noodles. We didn't care for the crab puff, but the beef skewers were good. The crab and the noodles were as good as we remembered. Overall experience was great. Service was good, our water was never empty. The owner family made their rounds to say hi to everyone, it was very welcoming. Not gonna lie, it is sad to see them go. I hope they can find a new location and re-open soon.
I was excited to try Crustacean after seeing their happy hour menu and having a Resy credit to use. Unfortunately, the experience got off to a disappointing start. Upon arrival, the front-of-house staff member was cold and unwelcoming. I was told that happy hour seating was first come, first served, but received no guidance on where to wait or how the process worked, leaving me to figure it out on my own. The restaurant itself was beautiful. I loved the decor and the koi fish aquarium beneath your feet. After eventually finding a seat, another guest informed me that the restaurant would be closing after 30 years due to losing its lease. Shortly afterward, I learned that they no longer offer happy hour at all--a surprise considering I had waited nearly 30 minutes expecting it to begin. It would have been appreciated if this had been communicated upon arrival, especially since outdated happy hour information is still easy to find. Service throughout the meal was slow, though I will give credit where it's due: once our order was placed, the food arrived surprisingly quickly. We ordered the Vietnamese filet mignon satay, tuna cigars, banh hỏi, and the famous garlic noodles. The standout dish was easily the filet mignon satay--it was flavorful, tender, and the highlight of the meal. The remaining dishes were enjoyable but didn't leave a lasting impression. The shrimp also wasn't cleaned. For drinks, I ordered the Passionately in Love and the Saigon Silk. While both were decent, the Saigon Silk arrived only about one-third full, which was disappointing given the price. Overall, the food had its moments, particularly the filet mignon satay, but the lack of hospitality, poor communication, and underwhelming service overshadowed the experience. I can appreciate the restaurant's long history, but based on this visit, I wouldn't recommend going out of your way to dine here.
Had our farewell family dinner at one our favorite restaurants! We were a table of 12, service was not as attentive as what we are used to but overall had a nice time. Their garlic noodles are to die for!! Their mango lobster salad is one of my favorite dishes but I do have to admit it lacked a bit in flavor but still satisfied the craving. Also one of my favorite things to eat there is their table side ice cream and coconut tea but both were not available. A bit of a bummer but totally understandable. There was a magician going from table to table performing tricks. Overall we had a fabulous night!
Can't believe it's the end of era! So happy that I was able to snag reservations before the closing. As always the ambiance and energy was mellow and welcoming. Bar service A1. All waitstaff did a wonderful job. Started with calamari and chicken satay. It wouldn't have been right not to order the Dungeness crab and garlic noodles one last time. In addition, we also had the garlic green beans, gem salad and ginger sea bass. Everything was tasty. Can't wait to see what new location awaits for the An family. When they open, we will surely return!

Had to come back to Crustacean one last time before they close this location ( hopefully not for long)! Always a pleasure dining here, beautiful atmosphere, lovely staff and delicious food. We tried the yin and yang lychee martinis, of course the crab puffs, Dungeness crab, lobster garlic noodles and bok choy. Sadly no room for dessert. Everything was perfect but your wallet will hurt afterwards. I hope they can find a new location in LA again! read more

Very Disappointing Experience at Crustacean Beverly Hills I've enjoyed Crustacean before, including experiences in both Beverly Hills and San Francisco, so this visit was especially disappointing. I ordered the Roasted Crab, and what was served to me appeared to be mismatched pieces of crab legs rather than a properly presented crab entrée. For a restaurant of this caliber--and at these prices--I found that completely unacceptable and, frankly, disrespectful to a paying customer. I didn't complain while I was there, but after thinking about it, I wish I had. Customers should not feel like they have to settle when they're spending this kind of money on a meal. I've never experienced anything like this at Crustacean before. It's really sad to see the quality fall this far, particularly with the Beverly Hills location reportedly preparing to close. Based on what I was served, maybe the timing is appropriate. If you dine here before they close, CHECK YOUR FOOD and make sure you're getting what you paid for. read more

Asian fusion x fine dining perfected...of Vietnamese heritage, born in San Francisco, but iconically Beverly Hills. Enter Chef Helene An, whose family in the 1970's purchased a small Italian deli in San Francisco & started selling Vietnamese food. When the locales weren't exactly taking to the more ethnic flavors, Chef An brilliantly decided to combine the roots of her Vietnamese upbringing that were more conducive to the American palate, in turn, perfecting Asian-American fusion cuisine. DRINK: Jalisco to Saigon - 8.5 / 10 I've been on a "tequila kick" as of late & this cocktail of blanco + reposado fit the bill. Be careful though, the black salt that rims the glass brings a smokiness that's not for the feint of heart. FOOD: | Appetizers | Tuna Cigars - 9.0 / 10 Quite easily the most popular appetizer on their menu - at least the most social media friendly. Don't let the stunning presentation fool you. The flavors & textures run the entire gamut: you have the crispiness of the wonton wrapper, with the softness of the tuna, the rich, brininess of the caviar, the sour bite of the squeeze of lime, & of course the smokiness of the, well, smoke. Being presented in a cigar box filled with smoke, this small plate is the one to get if you could only order one. Truffle Chicken Dumplings - 8.6 / 10 My good friend loves truffles & in effect, introduced me to & is directly responsible for my love of truffles. This dish was a "no-brainer". The chicken & sauce was delicate enough to let the earthy truffles shine through. The chili oil ponzu adds a surprisingly nice, acidic + spice pop. Caviar & Crispy Langoustine Roll - 8.0 / 10 An amuse-bouche of a classic Filipino-style "lumpia" egg roll, but with the most sophisticated of ingredients. AN's Famous Garlic Noodles with Dungeness Crab - 9.8 / 10 The dish that literally built the Crustacean empire & the "Crown Jewel" of the An family legacy. The embodiment of Asian fusion cuisine. The story goes that Chef Helene would make spaghetti for her children on special occasions. But because it was rather pricey, she modified the Italian-American staple & put her own twist. Now, that twist is iconic & beloved my many around the world. I now understand why this dish is on some people's "Last Meal" requests. Granted, I've been known to order Yard House's rendition, this is the original, & in essence, perfect. Every bite is a lovely mouthful of garlic & complex Asian flavors - salty soy, floral ginger, nutty sesame & a plethora of complex ingredients known only to the those permitted to prepare this dish in their secret kitchen. A "must-order" when you come here. Granted, we also ordered a variant with lobster, the dungeness crab is the way to go. Biggest props for the presentation of the shell. I've never seen a place that has extracted every piece of dungeness crab for your dining pleasure. Truly an iconic + timeless dish. | DESSERT | "Ice Cream Parlor" Vanilla Ice Cream with Berries - 1.2 / 10 Given the extenuating circumstances of the restaurant's surprise closing (with intent to find a new location), no liquid nitrogen means that their usual vanilla ice cream couldn't be prepared table side. In effect, that's what I think "makes" this dish. Otherwise, you're paying a hefty six dollars for a meager scoop of Tahitian vanilla ice cream (which you can get a comparable portion at a nearby Whole Foods), garnished by 2 blueberries & a single blackberry. I'll have to visit their new location to see this made table side. Warm Beignets - 7.8 / 10 A recommendation by our server. These did not disappoint. Fresh, warm pillows of tender, but flaky, dough. The Vietnamese Coffee Crème Anglaise is another shining example of why Chef Helene An is the "Mother of Fusion Cuisine". The classic tastes of a Vietnamese Coffee, but in a more non-traditional format of a silky, not-overly-indulgent sauce. Huge shoutout to our server, Leland, who was beyond phenomenal & made us feel more than welcomed. This is a tough one for us. We are huge fans of the restaurant, having been in the last two times for brunch which were truly excellent. This dinner was not a good experience for us, and we want to take a few minutes to share this feedback with the restaurant. For starters, I have significant experience as a restaurant reviewer. I have reviewed hundreds of restaurants in LA over the years for several known journals. My wife - who is Vietnamese and takes great pride in what Crustacean means to the Southern California community - and I dine out a lot. We've recommended Crustacean to others on the basis of our brunches. When I dine out, I don't want any pressure to buy anything I don't want. If I don't want to have a cocktail, don't make me feel less than for not ordering one. My wife and I had our reasons for our choices last night, and to be blunt, what we order and how much we order should be of no concern to wait staff, hosts or managers. We felt pressure from the start of the meal to the end, and it made us uncomfortable. We had a time constraint on the meal, and politely shared it with our waiter. The response from the Host was more pressure, and a dose of attitude. We ordered our meal - two appetizers, an entree and a side - and the food was OK. Not distinguished as had been our brunches. Small portions, poorly cooked, soggy "colossal shrimp" and a $20 side order of 6 pieces of sauteed bok choy that was offensively over-priced. For us, the service was disappointing, having recently traveled to several US cities (St. Louis, Raleigh-Durham, New Orleans and even Las Vegas) where not once were we pressured by the staff. Impeccable service everywhere. As I mentioned, we dine out a lot, and we have lots of choices in LA or when we travel. This meal for the money was one of the worst values we've had in a meal all year, and easily the most disappointing experience at a restaurant of this caliber and price point in far longer. We recommend Crustacean send its team to dine out at some different LA restaurants known for their service to get an idea of how a sophisticated customer experiences a meal at a comparable atmosphere and cost. We hope this will be taken in the spirit in which it's intended - to help make your restaurant, service and business better. Last night, which happened to be my birthday, was somewhere between a D- and a Fail. If you're fine with that, don't do anything. But please let us know and we'll stick with more consistent favorites like Chinois, Din Tai Fung or Brodard Chateau. read more
We had the most incredible dinner and I had no realized it will be a goodbye dinner at least in this location in Beverly Hills. They have most recently announced that they are changing locations. This place was a thriving exciting place to be then the pandemic hit plus the renovations seem to change the traffic here so I hope wherever they go it brings them great fortune and prosperity. I love the garlic noodle. Everything on the menu is delicious. The service was amazing. I am sad to see them go it's been such a big part of Beverly Hills dining here. Solo lunch date on my day off! Was wandering around shopping all day and was starving by mid day. Stumbled into this beautiful place for a quick bite and was pleasantly surprised. Prawn mango salad was an absolute star. Very large meaty tiger prawns over a bed of fresh greens and juicy mangos to give it a slight sweetness. Paired exceptionally well with my lychee martini. A must try. Had some room left in my tummy, so had to try the famous garlic noodles with a skewer (added protein) and wow this was fantastic as well. Im normally unable to finish the garlic noodle dish myself as by mid dish the butteriness is too much, but the skewer gave it a perfect balance. Proud to say each dish was spot clean by lunch end. I used to dine here a lot years ago. I ate there tonight with my family and the food was awful. The crab and noodles were dry. Nothing like they used to be (flavorful and juicy). Triple the price and poor quality. My husband never got his bok choy and his appetizer took 20 minutes to arrive. read more

Overall great experience. Unfortunate to say goodbye to this restaurant. We loved the decor, the koi dish underneath the floors were so cool. Great food, amazing staff and pretty interior. Visited on a Friday night. Diana was our server and she was giving us so many suggestions. It was good for me especially because I am indecisive. They change the plate in between every dish. The garlic noodle and Dungeness crab was the highlight for me as it is their specialty. One of the server told us that there's a room in the kitchen that only few people can go in and make the noodle so the recipe will not leak. Crazy! I like the Koi fish you see swimming underneath your feet. Probably my favorite thing about this restaurant. The mango prawn salad was good. We got their famous garlic noodles. Tasted pretty good. Their quantity is small but that's really all you need to eat to not overeat. Service was nice and our server was very friendly and helped with deciding what to order. Price is costly but its Beverly Hills, so what do you expect? Parked across the street in a structure. read more
Went in on the very last Saturday evening before the official closing. The food and vibe is super great. Although they were extremely busy, the servers were super friendly and attentive. Garlic noodles of course great, shrimp toast and the little crab puffs was a waste of money, I do like that the crab puffs you can taste the crab but it was cheap tasting. I thought the food was pretty good. I don't remember what the parking situation was like. I think there was meter parking. This night was especially nice because this location is closing very soon so one of the daughters and the owner of the chain was there the daughter introduced herself and we had a magician performed tricks for us and that were pretty impressive. Service was great. The food was very tasty the flavors are great. I would highly suggest the yellowtail sashimi ... flavors were great. Garlic noodles weren't as garlicy as I remember but the crab is delicious. Market price was $125 so a little high but if you are here I would suggest to do it. I loved the wok veggies. read more
Crustacean Beverly Hills is a special place for me. My wife and I came here a long time ago when we first started dating. I asked her about the restaurant recently and we decided to come back for Valentine's Day. The return did not disappoint. I had the shaken beef with garlic noodles and it was excellent. The flavors were rich, the beef was tender, and the garlic noodles were exactly what I remembered. My wife had the tiger prawns with garlic noodles and loved her dish as well. Everything was really good. The food, the memories, and the atmosphere all came together for a great evening. Crustacean Beverly Hills is a full 5 stars for me. read more

When we were in San Francisco my wife had been wanting to try Chef Ann's food at her restaurant there. But didn't get a chance coz we had another agenda on our visit to SF. Then a family member of my wife recently moved to Beverly Hills and that's when my wife saw that there's another restaurant owned by Chef Ann and it's CRUSTACEAN BEVERLY HILLS Of course, my wife got us a reservation right away. Chef Ann's restaurant is beautiful, with contemporary decor and a few Asian decorations. The moment the Menu was handed to us my wife was quick ordering so I just let her order since she had already ordered a lot of food. With all the food you see in my Pic upload here at Crustacean, the RIBS , the CRAB FRIED RICE, GARLIC NOODLES with WHOLE LOBSTER, and TUNA CIGARS are the ones that stood out for me. Everything was delicious but those are the ones I mentioned are the once I will get here again when we visit. Sean our server was cool. I've wanted to come to Crustacean for 20 years. We finally made it on our 15th anniversary, stopping in for dessert after Nozawar Bar. The anticipation couldn't have been higher. The crab cake roll came out with a hair in it. Our server apologized and removed it from the bill, but that was it, no manager, nothing more said. We also ordered a banana flambé. When I mentioned it was our anniversary, he brought out a complimentary scoop of basil ice cream. Sweet gesture, but it didn't address what happened. At this price point, comping the dessert we came specifically for would have been appropriate. The staff were warm. The banana flambé was good. But the incident was glossed over, and we left with mainly the memory of a hair in our food. read more
I have been to 3 of their restaurants including the original Thành Long, which was the first in the House of An in SF. The ambiance of Beverly Hills is just different than San Francisco and a bit more boujee it seems. Nice venue, love the koi pond in the floor and how it flows through the restaurant. There were 4 of us and we ordered the tuna cigars, garlic noodles, garlic fried rice, green beans, bok choi and the garlic crab outside the shell. The food and service was amazing. read more

My co-workers and I attended the World Hotel and travel agent event. They offered an open bar and many appetizer options. The event was held upstairs above the main dining area. The bartender was busy but most of us kept requesting the special drinks offered which were the Grand Mule and Lychee Martini. The appetizers that were offered were all delicious. read more
Beautiful place, romantic and lovely service. I had the Mongolian lamb, and it was great! We also had the garlic noodles which were good and were around $22. The garlic noodles were shareable for 2 people for one serving. The truffle chicken dumplings were very flavorful! Because of the location, expect to pay a little more overall. Next immediate chapter for Crustacean involves 'popUps', most likely with 'street food' offerings. Their scheduled Beverly Hills Location closure is slated for the end of October 2026. An incredible 30-year run in the ritz and glitzy town with the matriarch chef Helene An surpassing 80+years of age. Previous garlic crab order wasn't the freshest crab we received so did not order the crab again this time. read more

No, it's not as long as you don't dress like you're going to the gym or the beach.

It's not too bad. It's easy to find street parking. There's also a parking lot around the corner.

Yes I think Wednesday to Friday lunch.

Is there a dress code?
They love for the guests to consider dress-up for dinner. They suggest business-chic or business-professional. At lunch, they are more relaxed. However beachwear and flip flops are not permitted.
Anyone with a sensitivity to MSG have an issue with the garlic butter sauce?
I have a little sensitive to MSG. I didn't have any issues the sauce.
Can you order take out?
Yes. They have takeout available by calling 424-303-8108. They are also working with Chownow, Ubereats and Tock for delivery and pick-up
Is it possible to walk in without a reservation?
When we came in, I saw some vacant tables. For 2, and an odd day (not Friday-and weekend) it may be possible. After we left at 9:30PM, it was more than half empty. We went on a Wednesday night.
Is there any other number to make reservations ? Been calling and no one picks up for over an hour now and no one calls back........
