My first proper meal to kick off the new year. Our party of 5 came in for dinner on the first day of dineLA. They're located inside the Edition hotel so if you're driving you'll have to valet since parking on Sunset is minimal. We opted for the dineLA menu, but ended up getting a few other dishes. Two things stood out for me. First is the milk bread. Thank goodness we each got 2 pieces. One would've been a tease. That bread was full of flavor and nearly melted in my mouth. The other was the salmon sashimi. The sauce it sat on was so tasty I wish we had extra bread. Honorable mention to the lobster tagliatelle. That pasta was perfectly cooked. The service was amazing. Miranda and the rest of the team took such great care of us. I didn't catch his name, but the gentleman who dropped off our food was so entertaining. He always came back with a new joke. We ended up staying longer than I anticipated because we ended up with so much food. We were in agreement that everything was full of flavors. Not one dish disappointed any of us. I loved the Aesthetic of this restaurant. It is a very sexy vibe. The service was excellent. Gideon was our server and he was amazing and attentive. The food was also delicious. We had the roasted carrots with hummus and pine nuts, the salmon sashimi, the Caesar salad, the NY Strip and the Branzino. Food was good overall, with some clear highlights. The milk bread and lobster pasta were both fantastic and worth ordering. The Caesar salad was solid. For mains, the skirt steak surprised us--super tender with a delicious mole salt. The lamb chops, though flavorful, were extremely fatty and the portion felt disappointing for the price. The ambiance was perfect and the views were very contemporary mixed with modern elements that were warm and organic; loved the vibe! Our waitress was very welcoming and informative. I ordered the brightwood (10/10); others had a French 75, the Uma & the stone and vine (it's like a white sangria). For food, my friends had the seared ora king salmon and I had the prime skirt steak. Ardor is the fine dining restaurant at the West Hollywood Edition and I decided to give them a try on the last night of my trip. The dining experience was excellent. They took me as a walk-in when they opened at 6 pm and I ordered the Spanish octopus. Seared striped bass, charred broccolini and the chocolate expresso torte. Every dish was great - the octopus was perfectly cooked and went really well, that bass had just the right amount of sear but the chocolate torte was the real highlight of the meal for me. Service was great but not too fussy. The restaurant interior is gorgeous - they have a secluded garden area that was just lovely. With tax and tip, this was about $140, which is great for the experience. Highly recommended!!! read more

Overdue post - Came here with my husband for our wedding anniversary dinner! Food was 10/10! We ordered their signature appetizers, entrees, and dessert and they did not disappoint. I love how the chef incorporates global flavors and seasonal vegetables into the menu. Also loved the smokiness in almost all the warm dishes. These were my favorite menu items in descending order: Spanish Octopus (5/5) - omg the best octopus texture I've had. Flavors, texture, everything was on point! Prime Skirt Steak (5/5) - the smokiness and grill was absolutely amazing. Got it medium rare and it was perfect! King Crab Tagliatelle (5/5) - loved the handmade pasta, king crab chunks, and the herby lemon butter emulsion Chocolate Espresso Torte (5/5) - the wedding anniversary chocolate and candle was cute, but the dessert was on point! All sides and layers were so delicious. It's worth the $20 imo. Tandoor carrots (5/5) - again, loved the smokiness and the eggplant croutons; the hummus almost tasted like baba ganoush Milk Bread (3/5) - I know it's their signature dish, but I don't get the hype. I'm glad I was able to visit during Dine LA week. The food, service, and indoor dining environment were all wonderful. 5th star earned for the milk bread and perfected flavor of the main dishes. Everything I tried, I would order again- milk bread, Spanish octopus, King crab tagliatelle, chocolate espresso torte. The prime skirt steak my friend got was also delicious. The bread was still warm like it had just come out of the oven, and it felt, briefly, like I was enjoying this from home. I'm not usually impressed by pasta, but the tagliatelle was so flavorful. Staff were all friendly and timely in service. And the indoor mixed flora and low-lighting caters great for small parties and dates. Parking is by valet with the attached hotel, around $20. We were seated on the patio part which reminded us how busy and loud Sunset Blvd really is! The service was OK, a bit slow and unorganized. Drinks took the longest to get. My glass of wine came out without the wine! They corrected that quickly though. The food was pretty good! But portions are small. We double ordered the milk bread and octopus. Both were good but the milk bread was the star! The onion rings were really good too, perfectly seasoned. Caesar salad was OK; the dressing has a strong anchovy taste. The Tomahawk steak was good, a little more char on the outside would've made it amazing. The mashed potatoes were surprisingly good even though it was overly decorated with peas and chives in it, turning the b-day boy off from eating them. Another guest enjoyed his burger and fries. I can attest the fries were good as well. Overall, a tasty experience with a BIG price tag (especially the drinks). Despite the small portions and spotty service, the food IS pretty good. I have no idea what happened yesterday 01/29 but we drove about an hour to get here to have dinner and to experience Ardor but came to an unannounced closed restaurant. No signage, no posts on socials and Yelp and Google even said they were open. So it was such a bummer to come to an empty restaurant during business hours after dealing with rush hour 101 freeway traffic. We arrived and their doors were unlocked but no sight of employees or customers in sight. Parking situation here is tricky so we even walked a few blocks after finding street parking to avoid valet since I know it can be costly. We were so hungry and felt let down. We were looking forward to it and even took the extra step to check and make reservations on open table (which were available), but instead wanted to avoid putting a CC on file since we were scared to be late and would be charged $50 per person. We were willing to wait for seats once we got there as we assumed it couldn't be a full house since it was a midweek evening. Adding an extra star though since a plus is their restaurant is beautiful, chic and aesthetic. Green plants placed tastefully throughout and comfy looking seats. First note, did not know that this restaurant was attached to a hotel, to the right of Edition. You can enter from the lobby or the elegant double doors to the right side of the hotel. The inside of the restaurant, beautiful, lush, and elegant. The lighting inside added to the ambiance. I kept looking around, taking in the scenes. We came for DineLa and they had great options for the fixed menu. The Milkbread was so soft and buttery, we chose the samon sashimi and my goodness, I want a bottle of that sauce it was soo good! The variety was good for the entrees, all different so you have good, different options to choose from. My parents were obsessed with the cardamom ice cream that came with the cake for dessert. We only added the onion rings to our order because the hostess recommended it and I personally don't like onions, the taste and texture just don't work for me. My family on the other hand love it and my dad said these were the best onion rings he ever tasted. I even got peer pressured into trying it and I will say.....the flavor of the batter.....amazing! Came here for a birthday dinner, the ambiance looked nice in photos and the menu was intriguing, so off to WeHo we went! We had a reservation, so we're seated immediately, but there were only two other groups in the restaurant, so getting a table wasn't going to be a problem. Started off with cocktails, of course, is there any other way to start a dinner? I got the Monkey See, Monkey Do, which sounded very interesting and, in reality, was very good and complex. The different notes of the ingredients come through with a nice banana flavor bringing up the end. Definitely a well crafted cocktail. Appetizers were a few with our party of four, but the milk bread is a must! Just super flavorful with a great texture. Just keep the milk bread coming! The scallop Semi Crudo was also nice with plenty of scallop pieces within. The tempura Onion Rings were another night recommended item and, while I won't say no to a good onion ring, I didn't see it as an item at an upscale restaurant. But, they were seasoned very well, probably the best seasoned onion ring I've ate to date. Entrees came next. The Ardor Burger, I was really hoping it would be better then it was. It just didn't stand out to me in any way. With do menu burgers available around LA, it was forgettable. The Pacific Striped Bass was cooked well but it definitely felt like something was missing from the dish. The filet mignon was cooked very well, as was the strip steak. Would definitely say, if you're coming to Ardor, for entrees, go with the steaks, they were the best of the entrees. Overall, a nice restaurant with cute ambiance. This review primarily focuses on the food - I ordered the tuna crudo, and the prime filet entree. While the flavors were delicious and fresh, I had a major issue with the cook on the steak. I ordered the filet medium rare but after about 30-40 mins of waiting I was brought a well done steak. I didn't want to be "that customer" or have to wait even longer for my food, so I just ate it without sending it back. You'd think that for the premium price you're paying, a chef would know not to cook a well done steak unless specifically asked for one? It was like eating a hockey puck. Sad experience to have for the price you pay here. Other than that the tuna crudo was delish and my friends seemed to have enjoyed their dishes (sweet potato curry//grilled branzino). Tucked in the corner of the Edition Hotel on Sunset Blvd is Ardor. The beautifully decorated dining room with warm wood leads out into their lush green covered patio. The servers and host stand staff are all very attentive and kind. My friend and I opted to go for part of DineLA where the 3 course menu plus a milk bread course was $65. The food didn't disappoint. The milk bread was delicious and topped with just the right amount of sea salt with a tomato baked in. The octopus appetizer was seasoned well. I ordered the steak option and it was cooked perfectly medium rare. The chocolate dessert was delightful. They do add an automatic gratuity to the bill. We went to Weho to grab food and lo behold found this spot where there is actually availability on a Sunday brunch without having to rsvp. We street parked on a meter across the streets because they only had hotel valet parking available in front. We walked in and were seated right away. The brunch hours just opened and there were practically no one which was amazing. Lights are dim with clean spacious dining area. We ordered drinks, appetizers, and main dish which all came to ~$180 (18.5% gratuity is auto added to the bill) great, speedy, attentive customer service. It's light, fluffy Japanese inspired bread with salt and dried tomatoes. For mains, we got the skirt steak and branzino. Both were incredible - perfectly cooked, seasoned and garnished. Most high end restaurants don't include sides with main dishes and I think that's what we were missing. I'd recommend ordering 1-2 sides for 2 people to share. We got their banana foster dessert which had caramelized banana chips, marshmallow and ice cream. It was indulgent and perfect after a savory dinner. Only reason I'm giving 4 stars is because my drink didn't come out until I was almost done with the appetizer - not ideal but also not the worst thing. They also apologized for the wait. If you can indulge me for a minute, I want you to close your eyes. Closed? OK, now visualize arriving at your favorite boreal paradise resort. Ocho Rios? Iguassu? Sarawak? Got it? That's the feeling you get when you arrive at The Edition Hotel and its unique restaurant, Ardor. The hotel itself is grand in scale, everything oversized from the marbled driveway that draws you around to the land-of-the-giants entry. An attendant glides forward, opens your door, offers his name, asks for yours and how he can serve you today and you step out to be surrounded by black luxury rides of every description from Beemers to Maseratis -- and, they must be black, unless, of course, you are sporting a gleaming sapphire Porsche this particular evening. Once inside the marble clad main floor, the Edition spreads before you with all the comforts you expect at your resort: an inviting bar, glowing in the distance, a sweeping staircase that begs you to see what mysteries perch above, deep couches draped with oversized faux fur throws, a crackling fireplace, and a pool table -- of course! When your table is ready, you step back outside and make your way past ferns that curl out as if to grab you and guide you inside. Once the massive wooden doors open, you enter, well, LA's own special version of paradise. I don't need to describe it further -- see my photos and those of others here who have reacted the way I did, with delight. You relax immediately as you are whisked to your table and the service starts and never stops coming. It seems a team of no fewer than six smiling Ardoristas are attending to you at every juncture from cocktails (offered by a literally beaming and voluble sommeliere) to appetizers to mains to desserts and espresso. The menu is eclectic, the portions exquisite and diminutive (so you can try more dishes without feeling overwhelmed). The beauty in each presentation is the point, until ... you taste your selections. Then you know that the real point is the trouble Chef Fraser and his expert team pour into every item on one single sheet. Now, just work with me one minute more and close your eyes again (it isn't hard to picture paradise now, is it). Deep in meditation? A blaring siren, two very large vehicles honking their horns, the roar of afterburners and ear-drum splitting audio shatter your dreamscape in seconds. Uh-oh. This is the only drawback to Ardor. It sits on Sunset, cleverly disguised behind a thick wall of greenery so none on the pavement are the wiser. This is no one's bad. Just choose a seat far enough away from the Strip to enjoy the peaceful reverie of this well-heeled moment and you are truly transported for just a few hours, right in the heart of the metropolis. This post should have been a review of Ardor at the Edition Hotel on Sunset Boulevard in West Hollywood. Instead, it's a story about a complete lack of customer care and a restaurant hiding behind its own broken booking process. We chose Ardor because they're listed as a participant in Dine LA Restaurant Week. The Dine LA website has a reservation link. Click it, and it sends you directly to OpenTable. So later, when Thanh made the reservation, he simply used the OpenTable app because that's exactly where the Dine LA site sends you. Completely reasonable. To hold the table, we had to provide a credit card and agree to a $50 PER PERSON no-show fee. We arrive. We're seated. Menus go down but not the Dine LA menu. When we ask, we're told Dine LA is "by reservation only." We explain we did make a reservation. A Dine LA menu is brought out and we order two $26 martinis from their regular drink menu. Minutes later the server comes back to say we can't order from it the Dine LA menu because we made a "regular" reservation and they only prepared a limited number of those dishes. Let's break this down: The promotion sends you to OpenTable You book on OpenTable You give your credit card and accept financial penalties You are seated and service begins Then you're told you don't qualify for the promotion that sent you there That is not a diner error. That is a restaurant failing to align marketing, reservations, and operations and then making the guest pay for it. And the excuse? They said they had to protect those dishes for people who made the "correct" reservation and might run out. What kind of restaurant operates with such razor-thin planning that honoring two guests already seated could supposedly cause them to "run out" of multiple entrée options at the beginning of dinner service? Prix-fixe menus are not rare collectibles. Kitchens don't pre-assign entrées to reservation names. Even if inventory were tight, hospitality says you take care of the guests in front of you , not hypothetical future ones, especially when the confusion came from your own booking pathway. At that point we told the server that we would be leaving because we specifically came for Dine LA. He asked if we still wanted the martinis that hadn't even arrived yet. We left without dining. Not because of the menu -- because of how it was handled. There are too many restaurants in Los Angeles that actually understand hospitality. I went back again last night and had a great time. They changed the crab pasta a little bit, but it was still good. I had the hamachi crudo, which was just OK. The milk bread was great, as usual. We tried the chicken, which I found to be a bit too smoky but my friends liked it. We got the potatoes and the broccolini as sides. The manager, the hostess, and, a food runner/waiter named Martin were all amazing! The outside patio was closed due to weather, but it was gorgeous inside. I highly recommend this place and I'm always surprised it's not packed based on the quality of the food and the service. read more

Pretty interior and super nice & attentive staff! That being said, this rating only reflects our experience with the food, which was very average. We ordered a lot, and don't get me wrong -- everything was good & seemingly high-quality, but nothing was particularly extraordinary in flavor apart from the Milkbread & the Pineapple Arroz con Leche (vegan). Milkbread 5/5 -- incredibly warm & soft, comes straight out of the oven! Best bread I've ever had Tempura Onion Rings 2/10 -- Crunchy & good texture, but way too much pepper & honestly comparable to fast food chain flavor Tuna Tartare 2/5 -- Nothing special, too zesty imo & needs more mayo or creaminess. Really just tastes like I'm being served tuna that I can get anywhere else. Sweet Potato Curry 3/5 -- Curry is plain and boring, thought it'd at least taste like sweet potatoes but it doesn't. I did like the sweet potatoes and chips though. Aleppo Crusted Shrimp 3/5 -- The polento was delicious but the shrimp was cold and lacked flavor which was a disappointment. I've had some delicious shrimp entrees in the past and this is nothing in comparison. Tandoor Carrots 2/5 -- I mean it just tastes like roasted carrots & hummus. Nothing special, can make at home Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream 3/5 -- Super minty (taste like the leaf itself), but my friends claimed it tasted like toothpaste. Also not sure what was going on with the pudding/chocolate concoction beneath, there was barely any pudding Pineapple Arroz Con Leche 5/5 -- LOVED this! Presentation is lacking IMO (just looks like a plate of a bunch of stuff), but it was delicious nonetheless. Loved the coconut & the white chocolate balls. read more
