I am shocked they were getting so many bad reviews. I had nothing but a good experience with them. We went on Mother's day dinner and i pushed out the reservation twice through Open Table. When we arrived they took us to the patio seat which we picked and didnt realize its a small tiny space with only two tables in a narrow hallway. It wasnt the type of patio experience i was expecting and so we asked if we can switch to something inside. They helped us secured a good seat even though it looked almost full. Thanks to the servers. We were starving by then and over ordered for the two of us. Burrata and prosuitto wnd caesar salad - they were ok. Portions on the smaller end, but then our main course came and three out of three were all good. Fusili pasta, mushroom pizza and a chicken parm. Pasta was cooked just right and hot, pizza was full of flavor and crust was perfect, chicken parm was moist and a good crunch, just a bit too much marinara for me. My mom was so happy with her food she wanted to go back. The place is cool and casual without being too casual. A bit dark but i guess its more vibing this way. My girlfriend and I came on a Monday for their Martini Meal Monday ($30 for the meal, $10 martinis), and honestly... such a fun deal. We made a 6:30 PM reservation right when they opened at 6, and although it started off pretty empty, it filled up fast. Our waiter, Luther, was great attentive, quick to fix things, and super on top of service the entire time. For drinks, she ordered the lychee martini and I got the espresso martini. The lychee tasted almost like lemonade (so smooth it made me question if there was alcohol ), but the espresso martini? 10/10, absolutely recommend. Food-wise, it was a mix of hits and misses. The Nice Guy burger was definitely the star of the show so good. There was a small mix-up with my fries (I upgraded to truffle fries but initially got regular), but once I mentioned it, Luther fixed it right away, no issues there. The one dish I wouldn't order again is the rigatoni vodka. It came out pretty undercooked (a bit too al dente), so we sent it back, but even after that it was still on the harder side. The sauce itself had good flavor, but the shrimp were really small, and overall it just didn't hit for me. That said, the overall experience was still really solid. The ambiance is super aesthetic, cozy, and perfect for a cute night out. It does get pretty loud once it fills up, but it's manageable. Service-wise, there's a lot of teamwork runners, refills, everything moving quickly..which I appreciated. Parking is mostly street parking,sometimes you'll find a spot, but be prepared to pay just in case. I also rolled the dice on doubles and ended up getting a free martini meal, which made the whole experience even better. Also forgot to mention there is live entertainment which was a $4 fee. 8pm reservations for a birthday. $500 for a table of 4 people, no alcohol. Mediocrity was the goal of the service staff. The dudes in vests and bow ties were on it. But our waiter missed the mark multiple times. Steaks were not cooked to correct requested temps. Table was beyond too dark, asked for a second candle and just before we were done eating we were brought an amber colored light so we could see. Kinda funny. Biggest issue was just how salty our meal was. The eggplant parm had so much salt i could not eat it. Almost burned and was bitter. The same issue with the burger just too salty. Yukon potatoes, no flavor. Kale salad, too tough. Brussels sprouts, nothing special But, Fried mozzarella was very good. Truffle fries, good. Pistachio panacotta and the bread pudding, so great! Had a reservation for 830 on a Friday night for3 people. Came at 820 had 2 premade cocktails for $60. By 9 pm Still no table. It's crazy how your first impression should be the best . Well at nice guy they have 2 very young girls with an ego the size of Los Angeles with a power trip. We asked a couple of times when our table would be ready only to be told that they have paid and the restaurant is waiting for them to leave. At 910 we decided that we had enough and decided to leave. Miraculously the table was just getting bussed and we were told they would be able to seat us at any time. No thank you! 50 min of waiting for a table are you kidding! With a rude staff to boot. Perhaps change the name to rude guy! I'm sorry there are so many better restaurants with better staff and better food and better vibes than to be jerked around by anyone. I enjoyed Martini Monday at The Nice Guy. $10 Martinis? Sign me up. I love that this is a late happy hour because allot of places end so early for us 9 to 5ers. We enjoyed two rounds of $10 martinis which were so good. I won a Lychee Martini, rigatoni bolognese and Caesar salad. The pasta was on the firmer side. There drinks are not to be missed. The interior was very vibey and aesthetic. Valet was $20 but on a Monday night, parking isn't too bad. The service was fabulous and we enjoyed our time here. The live jazz is a nice touch. I went once this past weekend for Martini Monday and have been recommending it to everyone I know already lol. This is a top place for a girls' night / girl dinner lol, or in my case my man actually brought me here and it felt like such an intimate and romantic date night. They have a special menu on Mondays featuring their famous martinis, and they had 5 to choose from. I ordered the lychee martini with my meal and decided to order an espresso martini with tequila as my dessert lol. Their menu for dinner is literally perfection; it comes with an entrée, appetizer, and martini for $30! Which is insane because living in LA you realize that drinks often go up to pretty much that price - for just the cocktail. There are three different options you can pick from, and I picked the one that includes a Caesar salad (so flavorful but not heavy - honestly I loved it), a caviar bump, and a side of garlic fries. It was called "girl dinner" and was literally that--everything I could ever crave for dinner. My boyfriend got the entrée that came with a delicious savory burger and fries like mine, and also paired it with a lychee martini. We were so content with the food, and to top it off the ambiance gave Frank Sinatra fall vibes. There was a live performer that played jazz and classic music, the lighting is moody and the seating is very comfortable. I'm 100% coming back very soon! Not only was the service horrible, they do not allow for modifications of any of the items on the Martini Monday menu. My whole group is either vegetarian or gluten-free, so before arriving we had looked at the regular menu and they allowed for substitutions of all of the regular menu items (which are also on the MM menu). We were told that we could make no modifications to the Martini Monday menu (even though they allow for it on their regular menu and we offered to pay any type of difference), resulting in most of us not being able to eat or enjoy our meals. After voicing concerns to mutual friends, I learned that most folks I know who have been to the Nice Guy have had similar experiences with service and food quality! Parking: parking meters on the street--ends 8pm Ambiance: loud, kinda cool, live entertainment, and dimly lit. It's a nice date spot in my opinion. I don't recommend this place for big groups--it's kinda small in there. Food: for drinks, we got the el chapo (alch), know a guy (alch), and sinfolio (zero proof) --all solid drinks. For starters, we ordered the fried mozz, shrimp scampi--both good. If you're torn and don't have a shellfish allergy, get the shrimp scampi. Sides-- truffle fries, standard good. Mains--we ordered chicken picatta (per George's recommendation) and bolognese. I'm not a huge fan of capers, but the chicken picatta was surprisingly good. Definitely a pleasant surprise. For the bolognese, we had to send it back to the kitchen. We might have a different understanding of al dente, but the bolognese felt undercooked to me and my husband. We had it boxed to go when it came back out so I'm not sure if the cook of the pasta was different the second time around. Service: we had George as our waiter. He was really attentive to us and fun to talk with. He checked on us often and made sure we were having a good time. Solid spot that I've been coming to for years. The inside bar is really spectacular and they have great drinks. Food has gotten significantly better over the years. I can highly recommend the Truffle Fries, Lews Chicken Piccata, Calamari, Rigatoni Vodka pasta (gluten free). Service was also good, had no complaints there! I was really excited to try this restaurant and had a confirmed 8:30 PM reservation. I was running slightly late and tried calling ahead, but no one answered. The grace period is 15 minutes. I arrived at 8:45 PM and was speaking with the hostess at 8:46 PM when she told me my reservation had been canceled for being over the grace period. The extra minute passed while I was actively talking to her. When I explained that I had tried calling, the hostess--who was not friendly or accommodating--insisted that I hadn't. I showed her my outgoing call log and asked her to confirm it was the restaurant's number, which she did--then said, "Well, that still doesn't matter." She immediately said there was nothing she could do and asked if I wanted to speak to a manager. The manager didn't greet me and waited for me to start speaking. I explained the situation to him as well and he had no solutions at all either. He also said that I should've received a text and email about my reservation being cancelled, neither of which I received and showed him to prove it. I understand policies, but the lack of courtesy and flexibility over such a minimal delay was disappointing and completely overshadowed what I hoped would be a great visit back. CSR success! Kid friendly. All about the ambiance. Came here for a 6:30 open table reservation. Parking was cheap, easy, and super close on the street. We were seated early in a nice cozy corner with candles and enough space. Food was great. The hamburger, steak and pasta were awesome. It was actually funny to me because everyone is trying to keep the vibe and you wouldn't even notice at first but then you see a few groups with a kid. So we came with 3 young kids. We did dress up. The kids had a grand time. The burger, pasta and pizza were meant for adults but actually perfect for kids. Our waiter was very kind and attentive. I could see that they keep the pace going with your meal service ... with the small restaurant size doesn't seem like the type of place that wants you to be lounging for 2+ hours. Bathrooms are small. There is only 1 bathroom that can fit anyone needing space or to assist a kid. They have 1 other tiny stall I barely fit in and one men's urinal. We didn't have any issue with long line or wait but just notable. Yes we did get the $7 entertainment fee without any live music just to note. We were treated very well! I had read some odd google reviews and was super worried about driving all the way to this restaurant with 3 kids and having an issue..... but the staff was genuinely kind and we had a great night. The restaurant brims with exclusivity. No pictures allowed but there is a Photo Booth that is especially fun after some delicious drinks. Bar is very lively, with drinks flowing you are bound to dance and vibe to the live music/DJ. Yes it is expensive but you pay for the experience. The food and drinks do not fall behind on this rating. As a whole I confidently rate it 5 stars. And I will go back each time I'm in the city, it's that memorable. This was a little off putting but the beautiful atmosphere made it better. Still, my partner was directly facing the door the whole time so it was disappointing especially after making a reservation so far in advance. Service was good and so were the drinks. We shared the crudo as a started and the only way I could describe it was "leathery". It had a thick leathery texture but the flavor was okay and it was balanced with other textures which was nice. For dinner, we both got the lobster pasta which was also just okay but the way they throw in different textures makes it better. The noodles were shells, there was quite a bit of lobster, but there were so many strings of lemon peel. For dessert, we shared the chocolate chip bread pudding which was by far the best part of the meal. I'm all for a pricier dining experience but the quality has to match the prices. Pros: service was pretty good, great dessert, good drinks, live music, free digital Photo Booth, romantic atmosphere. Cons: reservations did not seem to make a difference, leathery fish, pasta dish not great, food overall is a bit weird. Maybe come here for a drink, dessert, and listen to live music. The favorite was chicken parm, a huge dish, which can easily be shared with 2-3 girls. My group is doing dry January, but the non alcoholic Stella was very good! We also loved the bread pudding. Came here for date night and also to use my Chase sapphire reserve credits I actually made the reservations for the wrong day, but they were able to accommodate me. We had a really nice intimate dinner in the heated patio, which felt very private and nice. We ordered the calamari and the Caesar salad to start, followed by the skirt steak and the shrimp vodka. The steak was insanely good. The only problem was that we had to wait an hour to get our entrees after getting the appetizer. It was a bit upsetting but the restaurant more than made up for it when they comped us the entrees and some glasses of wine. The last touch was when the manager herself came out to apologize the long wait time. We really appreciated the incredible service and staff for making the most out of the night and being incredibly professional about making things right. We got the cherry tomato pizza, truffle fries, cheesy garlic bread, and the vodka rigatoni. Tomatoes on the pizza were a bit too sour, the pizza was alright. Nothing to write home about. The truffle fries were pretty good and had a light layer of shaved cheese on top. The cheesy garlic bread came with marinara sauce and had a thick layer of gooey cheese. It was served warm and I did enjoy it. The vodka rigatoni came with rock shrimp and was good, I suppose. There's definitely better vodka pasta in LA. I did get the champagne papi cocktail and that was on the sweeter side but mixed well. Overall, probably not worth coming back. Wish reservation times were honored better and the food . It was incredibly dark like could not read the menu and incredibly loud. I didn't think it was as romantic as we were placed in the middle of the restaurant and could barely hear each other. The manager said the previous party at our reserved table stayed late, despite the restaurant enforcing a 1.5-hour limit and charging $25 for cancellations. Poorly handled, no accountability, and very disappointing service. If a restaurant can't honor its own reservations but still penalizes guests, it doesn't deserve your business.
