Our vegan friend tried an okra dish. Entrees were the fish roast, coconut rice and frijoles, and broccolini and yams. Everything was seasoned, flavorful but the coconut rice was bland. We received complimentary shots of an infused passion fruit rum that was so good, I asked for a cocktail made with it. The restaurant is very visually appealing and the music provided a nice vibe. Okay... cutest aesthetic. Usually when a place is this much of a vibe, the food ends up being compromised, but not here. We were a little hesitant after hearing mixed reviews, so we decided to try it for ourselvesand I'm so glad we did. First, our server Leon was everything. We had a vegetarian and two pescatarians in our group. They were quite pleased that they were not limited to a salmon or branzino dish :). The special BHM menu offered a uniquely prepared catfish-and-grits entrée that was deeply satisfying. We enjoyed that, as well as the cornbread gnudi, amazing callaloo and polenta sides, wagyu and aloo patties, the Jamaican bun, caesar salad, and a gorgeous chow mein. The ambiance and vibes is def what people come here for. I think this place is great for a drinks because the drinks are good and the atmosphere is amazing. But food wise I give it a 3/5. We got the Jamaican patty, cat fish and grits, Jamaican bun, coconut crudo, duck curry, and pasteleon. Let's start off with the favorites. I really enjoyed the duck. It was seasoned really well and really juicy. I was imagining a curry like stew but it was more like a sauce. But it def added a lot to the duck making it flavorful. I liked the patty, the wagu was tender and the pastry containing the wagu was soft and crunchy. You would bite into it and experience the crunch but it was soft in the inside. I liked the bun it was soft and fluffy but was taken aback by the raisins. Still the bun was a fav of the night. Now let's get into the other dishes. I felt like the catfish was okay. It was soft fish and crunchy but nothing memorable. The pasteleon was like a lasagna I felt like it was a little bland and needed more tomato or spice. Personally I think the crudo was my least favorite. I wasn't a fan of the coconut sauce they used. Overall I think it's great for a one time dining experience. Our server checked on us often. We ordered a variety of starters and a couple entrees for the table. The menu is dynamic so don't be surprised if what you see today is not there when you visit. Secured a reservation for a Friday evening for a night out with my parents, and it was bustling! Located on a quieter part of Fairfax, this restaurant has a small sign and is somewhat unassuming on the outside but opens into a moody, alluring, luxurious and spacious interior with multiple dining areas of tables, booths, and bar seating. We dined on aloo patties, plantains, fish roast, brown stew risotto, Havana nights beans and callaloo. All the dishes certainly had an elevated twist to classic Caribbean cuisine and were packed with flavor and spice! The patties weren't at all greasy, which was great, and were paired with a delicious chili garlic sauce. The maduros plantains were cooked well, and the plantain chips were super thin and crisp. The main dishes were also tasty but I found the fish to be a tad dry and tough. The risotto is on the heavier side, so that one might be better for sharing. The beans were a flavorful black beans. My favorite though was the callaloo side, which was packed with greens. Overall, we had a great dinner at Lucia. It is quite rare to see a fine dining establishment highlight Caribbean cuisine at this level, and Lucia does a fantastic job. read more

I don't know about this one... this restaurant was very over-hyped and ended up being a total letdown. We had a 6:00 PM reservation. Our waiter didn't take our order (both appetizers and entrées) until about 6:20 PM, we didn't receive our appetizers until 7:00 PM, and our entrées finally came out around 7:15 PM. That wait alone set the tone for the night. I'll be honest, those folks on TikTok are lying. The food is plated beautifully, but it was extremely bland. No flavor at all. For appetizers, I ordered the wagyu beef patty ($9) and the Jamaican bun ($15). The patty was the only thing I actually liked, although it was very small for the price. The bun tasted more like a cinnamon raisin bagel than anything else. It was just okay. For my entrée, I ordered the Green Fig-Leaf Fish Roast (naranja agria, bell peppers caldo, lime caviar). It was a white fish dish that looked gorgeous on the plate, but again, no seasoning and no wow factor. It seriously lacked flavor. The cocktails were also disappointing. I had the lychee margarita, and it honestly tasted like juice. Aesthetically, the restaurant is beautiful. However, the layout is strange. Depending on where you're seated, you can feel completely isolated from the rest of the restaurant. We were seated in a back corner and couldn't even see the dining room, our only view was the side of the bar, which made the experience feel disconnected and awkward. As for parking, valet is basically your only option ($15). Street parking is nonexistent. Service was poor. Our waiter was polite, but not attentive at all and barely checked on us throughout the meal. Overall, don't come hungry. The portions are small, the food is overpriced, and the flavor just isn't there. The space is pretty, but unfortunately, good aesthetics can't make up for slow service and very underwhelming food. FYI: At the bottom of the menu it reads, "Blink and it might be gone. Our menu is always moving. No set menu. No promises except good food and vibez!" So if you're coming to Lucia because of something you saw on TikTok or Instagram, don't rely on that. The menu changes constantly, and there's a good chance the dishes you're expecting won't be available. I'm not sure why the menu rotates so often. I couldn't think of a place to celebrate my birthday dinner this past weekend. Nothing really jumped out at me and I didn't really want to revisit somewhere I've already been (not that there's anything wrong with that), but I just wanted to experience something new. A friend of mine sent me an IG reel of Lucia and it came in clutch! Our party was half an hour early, so we decided to start dinner off with some drinks at the bar. While I'm at it, I'll just go into detail regarding the other cocktails I had too. Their cocktail game definitely needs some improvement, but it's not terrible. Espresso Martini: Acceptable, but nothing more. Nothing special and a little too acrid. I've had much better elsewhere. Tamarind "Collins": Sounded great on paper, but taste-wise? Nothing memorable. I enjoy mezcal, but I couldn't detect any of the other ingredients that were in this drink. I had this weird black "plastic" looking thing in my drink... My drunk ass nibbled on the edge of it out of curiosity and I coulda sworn it was plastic to be honest. But who knows? It was dark and I was drunk-ish, but the interesting this is that none of the ingredients listed for this cocktail would've resembled the mysterious black plastic thing in my drink. Soursop "Paloma": Idk I was buzzing hard by this point so I don't really remember much since I just finished the drink in one pull lol. Nothing really stood out. The white pepper was what interested me though. For food we ordered the: Jamaican Bun: Must order!! Fluffy, dense, but soft and buttery. The whipped butter was good, but the pineapple mostarda was the way to go. The little flakey pieces of salt went really well with the bread. Wagyu Beef Patty: Pretty good, but fell apart easily. The beef was a bit dry though. The red sauce that came with it was good. Island Milk & Gold Crudo: I like crudo, but this was a hard pass for me purely for preferential reasons. I don't like coconut cream or flavored things whether it's natural or artificial. I'll eat the fruit all day though. I'm weird, maybe don't listen to me. Brown Stew Risotto: At first I thought we got a plate of beans since it was dark, but it was REALLY good! Again, maybe you shouldn't listen to me because I hate mushrooms, but there's mushrooms in this and I didn't mind because I didn't notice it. I keep contradicting myself! Haitian Wagyu Tasso: A little bummed that they didn't have their oxtails, but our server recommended this since it was comparable. It was alright, but like the pattys, the meat was dry. Overall the drinks are a 3/5 and the food is a 4/5. The flavors are there, but some of the food was salted a little too heavily and that's coming from someone whose palate leans towards salty/savory. However, in the vibes/decor/service department, Lucia gets an easy 5/5 without a doubt. The dim lighting, the music selection, the look/feel of the place is perfect. I love the loungey/clubby vibe. Some people were complaining about how loud it is in their reviews, but I thought it was perfect. If this was too loud for you, perhaps you should consider dining at your local library instead. Sure, I had to raise my voice to get people to hear me, but I never had to yell. Lucia was a lot smaller than I thought, but they made really excellent use of the space. It's so nice inside. Very photo op worthy. Seating was comfortable (we sat at a booth in the corner). Lastly, the service was great! Kennedy was friendly, professional, and made sure my group and I were doing okay throughout our meal. Would I come back? Sure. Initially I was very wary due to the fact that it was one of those places "influencers" and "content creators" were pushing heavily on social media, but it turned out to be pretty good. Had this restaurant on the radar since it opened up and finally took the opportunity to visit. Very nice place, solid ambiance inside and staff were wonderful. Had a reservation and we were seated right away, so proceeded right to the drink menu. Started off with a couple cocktails, the Jungle Bird, Pina Colada, Taro sky juice and one other. The Jungle Bird was flavorful, had a nice passion fruit flavor the came through. The Pina colada is made with tequila, so much different than your normal Pina Colada, and it's almost like a clarified pineapple coconut emulsion along with chartreuse. Feel it was just more coconut forward, with only a hint of the pineapple. The taro sky juice was interesting, if you're into Taro. Grabbed a tropical Mai Tai which was interesting and pleasant as well. For food, we had to try multiple items to get a good sense of the cuisine, so we started with Jamaican bun, the Wagyu pattys, and the isn't milk and cold crudo. The buns were very soft, and came with cheddar butter and a mustard. The butter is definitely the move, though the mostarda was interesting as well. The crudo tasted very fresh and was a nice bite while the Wagyu pattys, while having a nice., flaky crust on the outside, tasted underwhelming overall. We ordered a side of coconut rice to go with the entrees which was also on the underwhelming side. Speaking of the entrees, we tried a few. The Haitian Wagyu tasso was very tender, great flavor and a solid entree. The green fig leaf fish, on the other hand, while cooked well, felt like it was missing something to make it stand out. The finish entree was the Paseleon, a Wagyu pasta with pecorino cheese and bechamel sauce. Definitely felt a little off in how it for with the other items on the menu, but the flavor was decent but not memorable. Overall, nice restaurant with great staff and a vibe of is I'm. There's also a DJ that starts a little later in the night which couldn't upped the experience. Not sure if the DJ is there every night, night check ahead. Just left Lucia for my wedding anniversary and I decided to post this right away so I don't forget! So this is a small, but super cute Caribbean restaurant where the menu changes...so the photos you see may not be what's on the menu for that day. Keep that in mind and come with an open mind. The waiters are tuned into dietary restrictions, so just communicate those clearly. The vibe is elegant and classy, so wear something nice but it doesn't need to be over the top. The menu is small, so you don't have to worry about decision fatigue. We loved everything we ordered. Every dish was a 10/10 except the beans, which are only a 10/10 if you eat them with the avocado. The fish was so good and unexpected. Short ribs were tender and a great portion. Rice was a small portion (not enough in my opinion--but it could be because I'm used to overeating as an American...). The rice could had been hotter as well. The plantains were one of my favs due to the multiple textures. We almost got dessert or tea but they only had two of the tea options displayed. The service was great. The seating area was cosy with the attempt to seat as many people as the dining area allowed. The lofted ceiling makes the place have a more roomy feeling. That said, onto the food. The NYE menu had options for each course: pre first course, the amuse-bouche, which is supposed to delight the senses. It was made of a Nigella Seed - Bammy with Plantain Cream / Caviar | Mango Sour. A traditional bammy is supposed to be cassava flat bread that is soaked in coconut cream then fried, steamed, or baked. The flavors were good but it was very chewy. It sat in my stomach like a starchy puck. First course, we picked the Rock Shrimp & Bay Scallops Ceviche. This was really nice and enjoyable. The plate also came with some thinly sliced and lightly salted taro root chips; these were excellent. Makes me think I should try to make the taro chips at home in the air fryer. There were a lot of shrimp. With the bay scallops, the dish had more than four ounces of protein. This is a big deal because I am starting to get full after the first dish. The flavors were well balanced. Second course, I ordered the Pastelón de la Tierra (Sweet Plantain / Short Rib Sofrito / Taleggio Béchamel / Green Plantain Crisp). My companion had the Calloloo (king crab with Spinach / Seasonal Veggies / Okra | Herbs). The calloloo looked to me like a king crab salad, except most of the greens were pureéd. My "big cake" looked like a half portion size of meatloaf, except it tasted a lot like very dense lasagna. I ordered it because I thought it was more technically complex to put together. Alas, instead of pasta, green plantain was used between the layers of the ground beef and sofrito. Now I am just about full. The individual components of the dish are not that hard for a serious home cook to replicate. The plating could have used something else to brighten the dark rectangle of food in a dimly lit restaurant. Third course, I had the Soup Jomu Agnolotti (Oxtail Ragu * Squash-Truffle Cheese Filling * White Truffle), and my friend ordered the Spiny Lobster Roulade (Sauce Creole * Pickapeppa * Pistachios * Fry Bake Crumble). I have nothing good to say about the Soup Jomu Agnolotti, which I had to eat with a fork. I guess not really a soup at all. I didn't get past the first stuffed pocket of pasta. O.M.G. It was so salty that when the waiter came by our table I asked to have it boxed up to go because it was inedible. I only observed the spiny lobster dish. Unlike the ceviche, the lobster was covered entirely with a dark brown creole sauce. This makes it mysterious to look at, but not in a good way. What are you hiding? How can you do this to seafood? Anyhow. This review is rated 4 stars because I want this place and all new experimental kitchens to survive in the LA metro area. If the restaurant doesn't last, I hope they open a bakery because the last course--the dessert--was freaking fantastic. I would eat another serving if it were available. For the dessert course, we both picked the Coquito Tres Leches (Guava Jam * Pastelito Crisps). Everything about this cake is house made, fresh, fluffy, and oh so good. Cocktails - I had the Lychee Margarita and it came in a glass typically used for an old fashioned. It was ok. The lychee "caviar" pearls that came with it were delightful to see and taste. My boyfriend took me here for Valentine's Day and whew... what a vibe. We were seated in a comfy booth right in the center of the restaurant with a gorgeous view of the entire dining room, bar, and even the kitchen. The bar design alone deserves a moment -- it wraps around in this spacious round layout with seating all around, and the lighting above it looks like luminous waves. So unique and inviting. Drinks: They are strong, not shy. Order the Agave Pina Verde if you want strong tropical energy. The Lychee Marg was interesting but a tad aggressive. I would order without the jerk agave or red cab (unless you're into that). I liked the Lychee boba that came with it though. Must order: The wagyu beef patties. Hands down the BEST patties I've ever had. Thin, buttery, flaky crust with the perfect ratio of perfectly seasoned wagyu filling. Just typing this is making my mouth water. The aloo potato patties are also a great vegetarian option. Plantains were heat -- I'd recommend getting the sauce on the side, and extra caramelized if you can. My boyfriend liked the cou-cou (minus the popcorn on top... it got soggy). Mains: Ropa Fina NY strip was cooked well, but I personally got a little over the mojo rub after a few bites -- maybe I should've asked for extra spice or something to balance it. Loved the fufu mash though. The duck is juicy & tasty if you're a curry fan, but between that and the Ropa Fina, it felt like a lot. Lowkey wish we tried the chicken instead -- next time! Tres Leche with guava jam was a nice way to end the night. They had a hip DJ ("DJ Thrist") -- who read the room perfectly. Throwback hip hop, afrobeats, R&B classics. The energy was immaculate. Service was on point. Staff were friendly and gorgeous! Our server "Lian" was knowledgeable, gave great recs, and was super attentive. Manager "Toni" even came by to check on us, very welcoming. Food and drinks came out timely, water was constantly refilled, plates cleared quickly. Restaurant was clean, restrooms were clean (with an attendant!). Definitely make a reservation to avoid wait times. 10/10 recommend for a vibey date night, birthday, anniversary or girls' night out. Confession: I am not a huge fan of New Year's Eve. I simply don't subscribe to the idea that problems disappear overnight and I am no longer a 'partier' in my old age so NYE brings me anxiety rather than joy. That said, I am not opposed to an upscale dinner especially with extra special company. 2025 was a terrible year for most so a celebratory dinner was in store which is how my boyfriend and I ended up at Lucia in the Beverly Grove/Fairfax neighborhood of Los Angeles. Lucia is a black-owned, Afro-Caribbean restaurant/bar that is the baby of Sam Jordan: one of the "It" entrepreneurs in the LA food scene. Jordan isn't just a business man but is genuinely a food artist inspired by flavors, cultures, gastronomy and even the psychology behind dishes; having endlessly researched the culinary arts on revelatory journeys worldwide. After spending time in the Caribbean, he found his soul connection to Afro-Caribbean cuisine and the light bulb went off on the niche need in Los Angeles for an elevated Caribbean eatery and voila: Lucia was born. Teaming with Top Chef Canada (and Jamaican native) Adrian Forte and the one and only beverage director, Melina Meza; Lucia has become the hot spot for celebrities, rappers (Cardi B is a regular), athletes and anyone and everyone in the gossip columns. From the outside, Lucia is understated and ordinary but stepping inside is anything but; perfectly fitting the vibes of a speakeasy and Caribbean jazz club meets upscale eatery/bar. The lighting is low but pearl studded, the design features avant garde curved shell booths, and hints of jungle foliage can be found from plants to ivy-printed seats with the star being the centralized bar. Lucia oozes sex appeal and island life without being a mockery. Lucia is undeniably gorgeous and on our NYE visit was also accented with balloons and a countdown clock as a live DJ spun tunes. The only complaint aesthetically is that unless in a booth; you are squeezed next to dining neighbors at tiny tables making Lucia feel better fit as a bar than restaurant. Lucia opted for a special NYE menu ($150/person) with the choice of a starter (out of two options), a second course (out of 3) and a main course (out of 3) plus dessert and complimentary champagne toast. To begin, I sipped a Rose while my boyfriend had a Mai Tai (house rum, fruit, KIN banana, Velvet Falerum, Haitian Curaco) while Lucia graced us with an introduction of a chip of sorts with cream and caviar. Lucia immediately impressed with the Mai Tai (we tried a couple other cocktails throughout the evening) with the drinks being the absolute knockout at Lucia. Meza clearly does NOT play with her beverage concoctions. The chip was also delicious and gave me high hopes for the rest of the tasting menu. Sadly, we were set on a decline in that respect. For the starters, we chose the Rock Shrimp Ceviche and the Chayote Chow. The dishes were in-line with the over-the-top upscale gastronomical plating but the flavors felt short and frankly: felt like Lucia was trying too hard but failing at execution. The Rock Shrimp Ceviche was delicious with coconut and hibiscus notes but the Chayote Chow (squash slivers with starfruit and gooseberries in a cold salad) was bland and 'odd'. Refreshing yes, but somehow it didn't work. Next was Callaloo (king crab and provisions on fried okra mash) and Pasteleon de la Tierra (sweet plantain, ground beef sofrito and bechamel on a plantain crisp). Again, both were 'odd' and poorly conceived. The king crab pieces were the only good parts of the Callaloo and I usually love the other ingredients even on a bad day. The Pasteleon de la Tierra was a soft layered entity that tasted exactly like lasagna. I actually enjoyed its unique-ness and because I like lasagna but my boyfriend was a "no"'. The entrees of Spiny Lobster Roulade (creole sauce, pistachios and fry bake) and Ropa Fina 6oz NY strip were bluntly: the worst of the night. My NY strip steak was the saltiest dish I have encountered and it was inedible while my boyfriend's lobster roulade was a weird mush that I can best compare to tofu. I like tofu so enjoyed this but it was another NO from his corner. Terrible. The menu topped off with a Coquito Tres Leches cake which was excellent (you can't really flub Tres Leches) and a sweet potato pie which was as simple as Sara Lee. Conclusion: Lucia tried to be an over-the-top culinary experience but I have had much better for way less dollar signs. My boyfriend and I agreed that Lucia is better focused on the bar and cocktails. Lucia is gorgeous on the eyes and the concept of elevated Afro-Caribbean is one to be praised. And lord knows we need more black-owned businesses so in these respects: Lucia is a winner. Not to mention Meza's cocktails! But the food is mediocre at best and would be better at focusing on execution rather than being a gastronomical experience. Do try Lucia; but perhaps as a bar visit versus dinner. read more

Went here for a team dinner, there were 12 of us in total. Due to the amount of people in attendance we were required to order off their prefix menu. I found it interesting that the entire table had to select shared items off the smaller prefix menu, which was served family style. The food... WOW. Everything was done so well, I'd even go as far to say "done to perfection". And the venue is beautiful. Where's the rub (thus 3 star review)? The portions. The amount per person was $135 pre tax. The portions were so tiny it wasn't even funny. I don't think they realized they were serving adults. Every person in attendance said the same thing... wonderful setting, great service, fantastic drinks, and amazing food... but everyone left hungry and got food elsewhere afterwards. The food isn't overly salty, and I found everything to be quite savory and delicious. We sat in a half-booth. The interior is smaller than we expected, and I didn't see outdoor seating options. The decor is cute and minimalist. Service was efficient and polite, which is always appreciated. We had a gluten allergy in our party and they were quite accommodating. I get why weekend reservations are tough to get! The space is beautiful. We arrived 15 mins before our was 830pm resy, ordered a drink at the bar and were seated on time. Drinks: - Okra martini: if you like your dirty martini "filthy", you'll love this - Espresso martini: the espresso flavor was well balanced and beautiful, not overly sweet like most Food: - Beef cheek patties: the dipping was tangy. i personally liked it as-is and without the dipping. delicious but nothing really special for $30 ($10 per piece), the price tag was kind of steep when I've had empanadas very similar for half the price. I do understand the premium you pay when dining in a beautiful space but I won't be reordering next time. - Callaloo: stewed greens, very coconuty and tasty. - Half jerk chicken: succulent grilled chicken, spicyyyyy which i loveeeee! it might be one of my top fave 10 dishes this year. a must-have - Pumpkin rice: went well with the half jerk chicken The 4 dishes were perfect for my party of 2. We left feeling satisfied. Service was great - from the bar staff to our server and food runners. Just enough attentiveness, which I appreciated. Can't wait to be back. I recently tried Lucia and overall it was a decent experience, but definitely not something I'd rave about. We started with the appetizers beef patty, queen conch fritter, and wagyu beef patty. All of them were pretty underwhelming, I'd rate each around a 5/10. Also something to note: everything is priced individually, not in pairs, which makes it feel a bit overpriced for what you get. We ordered lychee martinis and those were a miss too. They leaned way too citrusy and weren't balanced at all. For the main course, we had the steak with rice and beans, and that was actually really good solid 9/10. Me and my friend ended up sharing one plate because after the appetizers, we didn't feel like it was worth ordering separate entrées. The aesthetic is definitely on point the space is beautiful and gives that upscale vibe. They also offer valet, which is a plus. Service was good overall -- the staff was attentive but the table clearing was a little inconsistent. Plates weren't cleared as often as they should've been. One thing I didn't love was the seating toward the back. The tables are really close together, which makes it feel a bit invasive and not as comfortable as you'd expect for that type of restaurant. Overall, it's a cute spot with good ambiance and decent service, but the food needs work. The menu especially feels like it needs a full redo. On a positive note, the bread was amazing and so was the Waygu. We ordered almost everything on the menu and I would pass on the crab as it appeared artificial and not very tasty. The pasta and patties were also great. If possible, get booth seating. Otherwise you're sort of smushed and practically sharing your table with those around you. Not an intimate space. Not meant for romantic dates. Very loud- the crowd and the DJ's music. Music played is a great selection mixed with hip hop r&b and Afro beats. The drinks were not strong, but they were cute. Server was very nice. Food did take awhile to get to the table. Parking not sure, but took a Waymo which dropped us off at the corner. Another friend of mine also went with her husband. They had a similar experience. The dress code is not conservative, many of the girls wore very revealing clothing. Younger age scene. Not really for 35+ crowd. You'll be annoyed that girls next to your table in short skirts will give your man a lap dance. It was giving swinger hot spot vibes. The table next to me also kept asking me what my food tasted like when I hadn't even touched it yet. It was a little invasive. Price is reasonable. The restaurant is beautiful, modern and sexy with lots of attention to detail that makes it feel warm and stylish. We started with the Blue Fin Tuna Tartare- it was fresh and beautiful. Then the Coconut Green Goddess Salad- light, creamy and perfectly balanced . The Grilled Mahi Mahi was cooked beautifully with a nice char and the Coco it Fried Chicken was crispy, juicy, though I thought it was little too salty for me but still packed with tropical flavor. We had an excellent dining experience at Lucia. The restaurant is exquisite and one of a kind. The bar is over the top and stunning. Service was very good, along with our waiter being really well informed on the menu and what type of cuisine it was, in addition to what goes well with what, etc. Food was great. I can highly recommend the Jerk Chicken, Tuna Tartare, Spring Greens & Burrata salad, along with the Mac n Cheese. The chicken was marinated really well, and had so much flavor. Our favorite dish of the night was the Trini Mac Pie (also known as Mac n Cheese). You must order this! The only item I would go without was the Snapper. Cocktail menu was really diverse; however we ended up modifying the Lychee Margarita, and making it into a Lychee Martini. A definite recommendation in adding that to their menu! I was really disappointed to see how much the menu has changed. Some of the dishes I used to love, like the oxtail and escovitch fish, are no longer available. The plating has also changed in a way that feels awkward the sauce used to be served on the side, but now it's spread on the base of the plate with the plantains placed on top, which takes away from the experience. Unfortunately, the croquettes didn't taste the same either and were much sweeter than before. The steak was the only thing I truly enjoyed during my visit. I used to really enjoy this place, so I hope they consider bringing back some of the original menu items and flavors that made it special. read more

Absolutely loved Lucia! It's such a great place for celebrations, date night or girls night. It's so lively and usually there is a DJ that brings out a fun vibe for the whole restaurant. All the food was soooo good and flavorful and hit the notes. The duck was fantastic and the plantains definitely full of flavor. The buns were variety fresh and so soft and flavorful. The salad we ordered had a great mix of flavors, textures and ingredients. The lychee margarita was one of a kind and delicious. Came here for a date night after it had been sitting in my bookmarks for a while. There's no designated parking lot for Lucia, but there is street parking & valet. We started out with cocktails: - Taro Sky Juice ($19): This was absolutely delicious! We couldn't even taste the alcohol, and the taro flavor was nice and strong. I HIGHLY recommend this. - Chado Beni Eastside ($19): Once again very delicious. It was refreshing and lightly sweet, but I did slightly prefer the taro sky juice to this. Can't go wrong with either though! To eat: - Jamaican Bun ($15): This bread is definitely on the sweeter side with its hints of pineapple. I want to say it's cinnamon-y almost? But I know that's not the correct spice lol. Pretty good, but I am personally more of a savory bread fan. - Wagyu Beef Patty ($9): Basically an empanada, the crust was flaky and the inside was delicious. Only comes with 1 per order though, so price is very steep. - Curry Duck Breast ($63): I was expecting something similar to a thai curry, but it was more reminiscent of a japanese curry with a tinge of sweetness. The duck was very slightly gamey, but I am very sensitive to gamey flavors. Overall enjoyed this dish. - Pastelon ($28): Similar to a lasagna, this was delicious but SALTY!! I loved the flavors of it and this would probably be my favorite item, but the saltiness took away from my appreciation for the dish. - Coquito Tres Leches ($18): Delicious, but nothing out of this world. I did like how light this felt - it was a perfect way to cap off the meal. Ambience/Service: The restaurant is very beautiful and modern, almost feels like how I would imagine a Skims restaurant to feel? But with a bit more character. The only thing I didn't appreciate was how tightly squished the tables were - I felt too close to the parties next to us. Service was pretty good, we were checked on frequently and our server was friendly.
