They were able to accommodate a large party well. However service was poor. The staff did not stop when you tried to call them over, we were often left with empty glasses or needing something for long periods of time. The food was good but nothing spectacular or worth going back for given the service. It was also extremely loud in there like a party vibe which is good if that's what you're looking for. If you're looking to catch up with friends or family, good luck hearing each others.
Definitely make a reservation because this place stays busy. I made a same-day reservation through OpenTable with no issues. From the moment I walked in to the moment I opened my menu, I was reminded three times that there was a two-hour limit for the table. While I had no intention of staying that long, hearing it repeatedly right away gave the experience an unnecessary feeling of being rushed. The interior is gorgeous, though. Creamy neutral tones, tons of greenery, and a beautiful tropical feel that really makes you feel like you've been transported somewhere on vacation. Just be prepared for the volume to match the crowd. When it's busy, it is LOUD. The tables are pretty close together, and I spent most of the meal leaning forward and practically shouting to have a conversation. I could barely hear our server half the time. The food was good overall and I didn't have any major complaints. Portions are a decent size, although rice and beans are ordered separately. I asked for something with a little more heat and was happy to see they offer a habanero sauce--but it comes with a $5 upcharge. The drinks were probably my biggest letdown. A $26 margarita has some pretty high expectations attached to it, and unfortunately, this one didn't quite live up to the price tag. Overall, I enjoyed the food and absolutely loved the atmosphere, but the combination of the table-time reminders, noise level, and underwhelming drinks kept it from being a "must come back immediately" kind of place. Would I come back? Sure. Am I rushing back? Not exactly.
Everything was delicious and the atmosphere was great. The main life hack: come for dinner at 5 PM -- even without a reservation, you'll have a much better chance of getting a table!
Food 4.5/5! Most items were fantastic! My parents raved about our the lamb chops price and portion $55 for 5 pieces of chops and veggies and potatoes was a steal, they said it themselves. We also got the big Shara le plate of Meats we got asada and carnitas, both were great frill flavors and good portion. Kids enjoyed their kids dishes as well. Desserts also great! The only bad part was our table for 8, we sat near the sun deck and it was definitely warm and not cooled temp. That was the only thing not the greatest. Service 5/5 Ambiance 5/5! Thank you!! Parking we parked across the street in a structure. Short walk!
Javier's Pasadena is absolutely stunning -- the decor is beautiful, and I love the spacious vibe throughout the restaurant. The service was excellent and everyone was so friendly. The seafood pasta was cooked perfectly al dente, and the seafood tasted incredibly fresh. The salad was fresh, and the dressing was mixed just right. As for the short ribs -- the meat was literally sliding off the bone. An amazing visit all around. Highly recommend!
Finally made it to a bookmarked place I've been wanting to try. What a beautiful location and transformation of the old Il Forniao that used to be here for decades. Javier's has raised the bar ! Starter: Very Good Aguachile del Rey Callo de hacha, camarón, pulpo With green sauce scallops octopus and shrimp Entrees: Both Very Good Cabo Azul Maine lobster enchilada, shrimp taco, poblano chile with shrimp and Dungeness crab Carne Tampiqueña Prime New York cut, enchilada de camarón, taquito, refritos Beautiful presentation on both, loved the "taquito tower" Great service for such a busy restaurant The decor deserves a design award if it doesn't already have one. A bit pricy to be a regular, but perfect for bringing out of town friends and special occasions.
The entree's were delicious. I'm not a lamb eater and is repulsed by the gaminess of it, but I was able to eat the lamb chops tonight, and with pleasure. The waitress was friendly and attentive. The gripe I had was that she was that her actions throughout our dining motioned us to leave as soon as possible. An instance for example, when we're still working on our entrees she already brought out the dessert menu, then happened again when we were working on our dessert she passed by and slipped the bill on the table quietly. The ambiance and environment are definitely insta worthy. Upscale and trendy.
I've been to other locations, and unfortunately, this one seemed very disorganized. Our reservation was at 8:30 PM, and we arrived on time but weren't seated until 9:00 PM. The hostess mentioned they were still wrapping up the 8:00 PM reservations, but what's the point of making a reservation if you're not going to be seated anywhere near your scheduled time? The food was also noticeably spicier at this location. I always order the enchiladas at other locations and have never had an issue, but this time I had to send them back because they were too spicy. The drinks were good, but the customer service was disappointing. We were celebrating a bachelorette party, and although we weren't expecting anything special or complimentary, a simple acknowledgment or congratulations would have been a nice gesture, especially since our entire table was decorated for the occasion.The staff didn't acknowledge it at all. Overall, I've had much better experiences at other locations, especially when it comes to service and hospitality. This location just didn't live up to the same standard, and it definitely wasn't my favorite.
We went on a Thursday evening for a friend's birthday and upon arrival, everybody was like oh the food does not taste good here it's more for the aesthetic. Once our party was there, we were seated in a very nice private room. The waiter came and took our drink order after we had been seated for 20 to 25 minutes. The drinks took another 20 minutes to get to us and then another 15 minutes later they took our food order. Everything was overpriced. I ordered chicken enchiladas and it was $40 for two enchiladas with no side and the enchiladas taste store-bought. They never came back to ask if we wanted another cocktail, they never came back to check in on how our food was tasting or if anybody needed anything else. It was a very pretty place but the service and the food was absolutely not worth it.
I always love the vibe here but this time around, the food needed lime and salt on everything (guacamole, ceviche, fajita, etc). Service was good, she was very VERY friendly and outgoing but we had to remind them that we asked for things a few times. I can tell the quality is slightly degrading over time.

Thank you Javier's for making me and boyfriend's anniversary feel special. The hostess knew instantly that a middle seating would not suffice and offered to wait for a booth instead. We only waited 7 minutes for a booth. Our waitress and staff were very nice and attentive. The food was delicious. We had the Pollo Chipotle and the Chicken Fajitas.
Wasn't sure if I wanted to try this place coz we weren't impressed with the food at their Vegas location. Glad we gave it a try. Food was excellent, our server was fantastic... and the vibe of the restaurant is phenomenal. I had the lobster enchilada... with big chunks of lobster. Would definitely order it again on my next visit. My friends also enjoyed their orders. They even made special vegetarian sauce for my friend's vegetable enchilada.
Love the interior of this restaurant! It's beautifully decorated and it makes me feel like I'm dining somewhere at a Mexican resort. Food was delicious and servers were very attentive and fun to converse with. Definitely a good place to go for celebrations and large groups. read more

過年跟兩個小孩的年夜飯，這次選在了Pasadena 的Javier餐廳, 離小孩住的地方近， 也順便來看看這家的裝潢 當天傾盆大雨， 餐廳仍是客滿的，小孩說是Chinese new year 的關係，我是懷疑的，裡面東方人不到5%， 也沒有看到亮眼的紅色， 不常吃墨西哥料理的小孩，看著菜單也是很多東西不曉得怎麼點，女兒不敢相信我居然會找一家yelp 上2.8顆星的餐廳，其實是我老花眼，以為是3.8顆星，,不過大部分都是在抱怨菜太貴，就像港式餐廳yelp review 也都很差，大部分是在抱怨服務態度是一樣的， 食物部分仍是不差的，他家的東西，跟美女們去過，都不錯， 這次點的羊排， 豬排，菲力，三道主菜小孩也是給4 顆星， 前菜Taquito 我最喜歡， 有點像春捲包起來，最近幾年開始嘗試很多不同餐廳後， 發現很多墨西哥餐廳也是非常好吃的，找不到帳單，一直跟小孩說話， 忘了拍， 只記得兩百多元～ read more

Overall the ambiance is cool and I like the attention to detail with greenery inside. I dig the decor and the layout of the restaurant. Our server was great as well. But the food is subpar and definitely not worth the price imo. Chips and salsa, 5/10: Immediately left a bad impression, as some chips were excruciatingly salty and some were decently seasoned. The taste of the salsa seemed to vary per dish. One bowl was tangy, savory, and bright. The other bowl was salty, dull, and lackluster. They served multiple dishes of chips and salsa. It's clear consistency was lacking. Chorizo Enchiladas, 6.75/10: I ordered these thinking they would stuff the chorizo inside the enchiladas; maybe I should've asked. But the dish was very underwhelming since it was mainly tortilla, cheese, and sauce. It tasted pretty good for what it was. But, it was lacking the protein and depth that this place promises upfront on the menu description. Barely any chorizo was to be found. Not worth the hefty price tag. They charge extra for rice and beans since it doesn't come with the dish. Tablitas with asada, 7.5/10: A good portion for a small group. The asada is cooked medium, with a great sear on it. It could use a bit more seasoning. I like that it comes on the hot grill. The sides that accompany it are solid: rice, beans, guacamole, grilled veggies. Dish is filling and can be easily shared. Margarita, 6/10: First time seeing a house margarita served with no garnishes, no fruit, no lemon, nothing. It came cloudy and tasted bland. I will say they did not skimp on the tequila. Ceviche de pulpo, 8.5/10: Easily the best dish there. Octopus tastes fresh, not fishy at all. It has a nice chew and is cooked appropriately. The refreshing vegetables highlight the bright flavors of the octopus well. Minor detail is I'd prefer bigger chunks of octopus for a meatier bite. I appreciate what this restaurant is going for. But it misses the mark heavily for me. read more
I went to Javier's for the first time ever last week and I have to say.....the Pasadena location is a VIBE. The restaurant is stunning - think plush booths, fountains, greenery, and gorgeousness. The bathrooms are elite - there's an attendant (so make sure you tip!), tic tacs, gum, lotion, etc. The food was amazing. Like I said I've never been here before. We got the crab and shrimp enchiladas (SO meaty!) and the steak salad. Steak was unbelievable. We got fried ice cream for dessert but my friend has a peanut allergy, so we had to send it back. Settled on the flan after that, and it was also delicious! Only drawback and reason for 4 stars was the service. Yes, my party was just two people with no alcohol, but we were left looking for our server fairly often - especially when we wanted to pay and leave. Other than that - Incredible vibe. Wow now let me tell you the new Javier's in Pasadena is absolutely breathtaking!! It blew me away. All of the details from the structure, the openness with all the windows & the very cool skyline greenhouse roofing in the middle of where we sat, all of the beautiful plants & greenery! This place is a whole vibe! All the staff were so pleasant & helpful along the way. Our server Kevin was great! He helped with all the recommendations & was always checking in on us! The other staff were also so on it with filling our waters without asking or having to wave anyone down to clearing off our empty plates so quickly! I got the piña margarita drink which was so refreshing & tasty! We went for a work lunch meeting so started off with the tuna ceviche as an appetizer, it was refreshing & light, perfect way to start. My boss got the chicken enchiladas with tomatillo sauce he said they were great! My coworker got the lobster enchiladas rice & beans with a shrimp taco & poblano stuff with crab & shrimp. Tried a bit of hers & it was fantastic! It was a bit of a chilly day so I wanted something warm so I got the birria & oh boy was that the right choice! So delicious and exceeded my expectations. Ask for the habanero salsa on the side if you're like me & like your food extra spicy! Haha Loved & will definitely be back to this location again! read more

We came here for a quick dinner with some friends. Pretty packed for a Saturday evening. I ordered a shrimp chopped salad. The salad was clean and simple. Hubby ordered a pork chop, but it was way overcooked and had no flavor whatsoever. Service was mediocre. Great music, but loud. read more
I was so excited to try the newly opened Javier's in Pasadena, especially since I've previously been to the Javier's in Newport Beach and Aria in Las Vegas. The ambiance is stunning, warm, vibrant, and perfect for a girls' night out. The energy in the room felt elevated but still welcoming. We ordered one of their shareable menu options for 2-3 people, which included a selection of proteins. We chose chicken, beef, and carnitas, and it came with guacamole, cheese, salsa, tortillas, red rice, and beans. Everything was flavorful, beautifully presented, and perfect for sharing. Their jalapeño margaritas were so yummy. Overall, it was an amazing night with great food, great drinks, and an even better atmosphere. I'll definitely be back! read more

Very popular place in So Cal. I hear this location is newer. It's a beautiful space and everyone is friendly. Friend made reservation and we got hour wrong (we were an hour away when we were supposed to be there) but they still accommodated us (party of 3). It's a little loud. Food is worth the wait. I got the steak tacos. Steak was tender and everything on it was perfect. Friends shared aguachile del ray. It was perfect spicy they said. They liked the red sauce. Friends enjoyed their pineapple margaritas. I enjoyed my wine. Chips and dip for the table are great. Salsa is actually very good. Pasadena is lucky to have this place! read more
We decided to dine here for Valentine's Day, I'm sure if it were any other day it wouldn't be as crowded and packed at the front door but it was jammed packed February 14th ! The front desk staff was very accommodating and attentive got us seated within 15 minutes as our reservation was at 4:00 and we were 15 minutes late ...they still kept our spot per pre arrival request. The building , decor and bar area is beautiful..... again on a busy night I would expect a wait , there were no available seats at the two bars . This place is happening !!! There is plenty of seating if you have to wait for your table outside and around the restaurant. Take a nice stroll, it's worth the wait for a date . They have valet parking and quick, we didn't have to wait long to give or get our vehicle. The service was amazing! Loved the conversation and dish recommendations of the waiters and staff. We were checked in on often. Appetizers were flawless and flavorful. I personally don't care for spicy dishes and the dish I ordered ended up killing my mood after the first bite because it was beyond spicy and it was not noted on the menu. Needless to say the waiter took the dish offered to replace it and comped that dish off the bill. I will definitely be going back , I love the beautiful upscale ambiance, food and the service! This review will not be different from my review of Javier's Vegas location but I am surprised at the low rating this location got. After reading the reviews, I am very surprised to read negative reviews about service and food quality when, as of this review, the service, food and ambiance was amazing. Same as Vegas to be honest. So, it seems whatever issues patrons were experiencing prior, have been fixed. The only complaint I have is that it is REALLY LOUD at both locations. Not because of music but just people so I'm not sure this is really a complaint against Javier's but the people that attend the restaurant. Be prepared to yell a lot at your table. Other than that, I highly recommend this place for excellent modern Mexican food (especially the Lobster Enchiladas and Guacamole). read more

Nice addition to one Colorado! Javier's is knows for his high end Mexican food. They use quality ingredients that any patron can notice. My enchiladas were elevated with the fresh crema on top. There is an unlisted kids meal that includes bean and cheese burrito, taquitos, and quesadilla. All served with beans and cheese. The star of the show for me was the aquas chilis. The cilantro and chili was very refreshing and married well with the citrus. Only tip I have for Javier's is to lower the music down a level. It was very loud and hard to have conversation Inside. I usually visit the Newport Beach or Century City locations, but this was my first time trying the Javier's in Pasadena, and I was so impressed. One major highlight for me is the outside patio area specifically for waiting. At the other locations, you usually have to stand the entire time while you wait for a table, so having a comfortable outdoor space here is a massive upgrade. As always, the food was absolutely great, and our server was amazing--attentive and super friendly. Between the excellent service and the much-improved waiting situation, this Pasadena location is definitely going into our regular rotation! read more
The place looks amazing. Vibrant and beautiful very energetic. The bar area was nice as well. Service was great hostess was super nice and so was our server! Cocktail and mocktail we ordered they were not the greatest. Taste was not there the margarita tasted horrible. Food was okay as well. The vegetarian tacos was the best thing we had lots of flavors. The special house salad need more dressing or the dressing needed more flavors. Guacamole was not great either all we got was mased avacado. Chips and salas was good! The fried ice cream was good. Great ambiance great service i was just disappointed in with my drinks and food was okay. read more
This place has an upscale feel the minute you walk in. Bar looks amazing, with a lively energy. Service was attentive from the hostess to the servers, continually checking in on us from the moment we were seated. As much as I wanted to be wowed by the food, it was ok. Quality ingredients were used but felt as if the chef held back with to appeal to the masses. Mexican food is flavorful not just decadent. Sauces were good but need that extra spice/savoriness. Seafood was well cooked but a hint of butter, garlic, salt, spice would have elevated the Cabo Azul. Enjoyed the company, able to converse and catch up in a great setting. Will return and give this place another shot. read more
Reservations at 3:30 on a Saturday. We got there at 3 and they had asked if we wanted to be seated early. Really nice establishment. It is loud as you have more people in the restaurant. We were seated and service was great and fast. Chip and salsa, really good, thin chips and fresh salsa! We ordered the Queso fundido and it came with corn and flour tortillas Good cheese, pieces of chorizo and mushroom, came out HOT and tons of flavor. House salad tossed in ranch. Fresh and good. Scallops was a special they were running and it came with asparagus and mash potatoes. The scallops you can taste is freshness and it came with a creamy chipotle sauce. The sides were seasoned and compliments the dish. Steak skirt med, came out perfectly cooked and seasoned. Paired with a fresh green salsa, fries were ok, a little bland but the beans were good. The end of our meal we had the Flan and pan de elote Flan was creamy and really good. No air pockets but at the end of the flan. corn bread came with a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream and it was great with the bread. Service overall was great and we sure will be back! what a nice way of bringing in the new year! read more
Absolutely loved the new Javier's in Pasadena. The space is stunning--very open, bright, and airy with all the white tones. It feels upscale but still warm and inviting. The staff was wonderful, attentive without being overbearing. The food was delicious across the board, and the drinks were solid as always. We went on a weekday, so it wasn't too busy, which made the experience even better. We ate the churros before they even made it into the photo (zero regrets). Everything we tried was delicious. I have to say, there is truly a reason why this famous celebrity level restaurant chain is so popular and fully booked every day. When I found out they opened a new location in Pasadena, I knew I had to try it and it definitely did not disappoint. First of all, the interior design is elegant, upscale, and very tasteful. The service was also warm and professional. The staff kept checking on us to make sure everything tasted good and that we were enjoying our meal. We were very happy with all the recommended dishes. I specially chose this restaurant to celebrate my friend's birthday and it was such a great choice. The restaurant is very spacious and the layout feels comfortable and well designed. Really surprised with these low ratings. I have been a fan of Javier's for sometime now so was excited to see it made its way to Pasadena. Loved in the heart of One Alley, its very minimalist decor has an inviting feeling. Team was friendly and offered suggestions. Since we had a resy, no waiting which was a good thing because it was packed. Loved their margaritas which are always nice and strong. We got the Cabo Azul and Pescado del Dia for entrees which I recommend for our seafood lovers. The both tasted fresh and flavorful. Churros of course for dessert! Loved the ice cream to dip the churros in. If you haven't been here before, it's refined Mexican food. Think what your Abuela made but make it fine dining. Can't wait to come back! read more
January 2026 - 4 stars for the ambiance but overall food too expensive for the portions and taste. We had a reservation at 7:30pm on a Saturday night and were seated at 8:30pm. No apologies, no acknowledgement that we were seated a full hour after our reservation time. Why did we wait? We were told it would be 10 more minutes but apparently their minutes are different from ours'. Food/Pricing - Over $530 for 6 entrees and 5 drinks. They almost forgot to give us tortillas that came with the Steak Picado. The steak itself was tender and already cut up, beans and rice that came with it were good. Service/Ambiance - Automatic gratuity of 20% is included with a party of 6. Service was okay, not justifiable of an auto 20% in my opinion but times are different now. They were on top of refilling waters and came to check on us from time to time. The place is very aesthetic but too loud that we had to literally yell in order to hear one another. Was excited to have a Javier's closer to me and couldn't wait to check it out. We made reservations in advance (recommended) and I was worried about the wait times I read online even if you had a reservation. So wasn't sure what to expect day of... Anyway, made it to our 4pm reservation and the place was already busy. They will not seat you until your entire party is there. Once our party was complete, in like 3 minutes we were take to our table. So definitely did not have the wait time issue. Our server was very sweet and kept checking in on us if we needed anything. We started off with the complimentary chips and salsa. The salsa had a nice kick to it- not spicy - but that refreshing salsa that keeps you going back for more. They have a variety of margaritas to choose from and martinis. We each had the Jamaica Margarita and piña margarita. The Jamaica was on the smoother side. Piña was a little stronger due to the st germain but still good. For our app, we winner with the taquitos and did both beef and chicken. I really liked the beef ones and that creamy avocado salsa underneath was tasty. For our main we shared the Cabo Azul $50 and it came with- Maine lobster enchilada | shrimp taco |poblano chile with shrimp & Dungeness crab | plus white rice and black beans Good amount of food, the lobster enchilada was my favorite on the plate. The shrimp taco had a crispy fry to it. Overall, it was a nice dinner in a cool spot. As the night went on it got even busier and for a Wednesday night the place was crackin haha There's a couple paid parking lots surrounding so take your pick and take a short walk to get there. read more

My friend and I went to Javier's in Pasadena, located in the One Colorado shopping center, and had a fantastic experience. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly greeted and taken to our table. Our server, Ivan, was amazing--friendly, attentive, and full of great recommendations. The restaurant has a chic Tulum-inspired vibe, enhanced by the music playing in the background, which really set the mood. We ordered the shrimp empanadas, and they were absolutely to die for--perfectly crispy on the outside, with savory, flavorful shrimp inside. We also shared the Arrachera plate, which was more than enough for both of us and beautifully prepared. Overall, this place is a must. Great food, great service, and an incredible atmosphere. Let's be real...Javier's isn't the place you go for amazing food, it's the place you go for the vibes and the occasion. The restaurant itself is beautiful, and the energy was definitely there. Surprisingly, it was packed for a rainy Sunday night. Perfect spot for a night out with friends, date night, or a birthday celebration. That said, if you're looking for good-value Mexican food, this is not it. We ordered the Tablita ($120), which is meant for family-style sharing, and the Trio de Enchiladas del Mar ($55). The guacamole was a shocking $20. We also brought a birthday cake for the birthday girl, but the restaurant wanted to charge a cake-cutting fee of $3 per person, which felt unnecessary. Our bill for four people with drinks came out to about $300 after tax and gratuity. Just be prepared to spend if you're dining at Javier's! read more

Visited Javier's on a Saturday afternoon to celebrate a friend and it was the perfect spot! Tucked between two buildings in Old Town, it's a little hidden, you can't see it from the street ,but absolutely worth finding. We went in the afternoon and it had a relaxed, not-too-crowded vibe, which made the experience even better. The restaurant itself is gorgeous. Fresh flowers, plush seating, and a warm lounge aesthetic that makes you want to linger.The service was attentive and the food did not disappoint. I had the salmon salad ,blackened salmon placed right on top, light but so flavorful. We shared the Queso Fundido and guacamole with chips. The guac was fresh and delicious; the Queso Fundido was a bit thick for my taste but still good. My friend had the Carne Tampiqueña and loved every bite. For drinks, I went with the Tamarindo Margarita as a mocktail and it was full of flavor ,no regrets! It is on the pricier side, so just be prepared for that. But for a special occasion, birthday, or even a date night followed by a walk through Old Town, it's a fantastic choice. Already craving a return visit! read more

Ok Pasadena !! I'm happy Javier's is finally opened. I had the pleasure of coming on the opening day and it was definitely a very good time. Me and my party hung out at the bar for a few hours and then we sat down when everyone from my party finally arrive. The vibe is amazing and the drinks were very good. I ordered the black mamba for my drink and all the bartenders actually superb. The drink was the bomb!! The service was exceptional. Everyone was really nice upon entering, and our server was amazing. For my food, I just got two cheese, enchiladas, and rice and beans, which is good and of course the guacamole I ordered which is always good!! The ambiance is very nice I love how they have a water fountain inside and they have about 3 private rooms they have two bars one when you walk in and one towards the back in the middle is very nice and elegant. The restaurant's interior is gorgeous. I like that it made it feel like I'm on vacation. My only concern is that (and this applies to any restaurant) when a dish is spicy, the customer ordering it should be forewarned. Spiciness is a subjective experience, and it may be too much for some people. I believe it should be treated like an allergy when questioning a customer before ordering (i.e., whether they're okay with the spice level or with spice at all). I think it's unfair to judge customer service because this restaurant is new and everyone is adjusting; however, my waiter, Carlos, was great! Lastly, my group ordered mole, chicken enchilada, veggie enchilada & fried ice cream. Very excited about the new opening of this location! The ambiance and aesthetics are so pretty, and everything feels fresh and well thought out. The food was delicious, and the drinks were just as good. I was a little disappointed that I couldn't get reservations days in advance, so we decided to do a walk-in. The host quoted us 30-45 minutes. After about 30 minutes, I checked in since other parties that arrived after us were getting seated. The host mentioned that it's really hard to seat a party of two and couldn't give us an estimate on how much longer it would be. She suggested checking the bar area, and luckily we were able to find seating at the second bar. Our server/bartender was nice and attentive, but another server kept checking on us, which made us feel a bit rushed, like we needed to leave. i love javiers hahaha it is pricey but i am definitely going for the vibes whenever my friends ask for a nice nearby restaurant for drinks and dinner. i always recommend the cabo azul or trio! ofc there are better mexican food spots in LA but i'd say it's a safe spot for a nice occasion or good vibes for a night out read more

I have a lot of guys that come in and out of Cali as they are training with me for their upcoming basketball season, and one of the most common questions I always get is, "What are the go-to restaurants around here?" When that question comes up, one of my absolute favorite Mexican cuisine spots to recommend is Javier's. It's one of those places that consistently delivers a great experience every time I go. The ambience at Javier's is perfect whether you're planning a date night or just an evening out with your family. It has a warm, welcoming vibe that makes you want to sit back and enjoy your time there. On top of that, the drinks always hit the spot and pair really well with the food, making the whole dining experience feel complete and well thought out. My go-to dish has to be the seafood enchiladas. You really can't go wrong with any of the options, but those stand out every time. The texture of the enchiladas is spot on, and the salsa complements the dish perfectly without overpowering it. Every bite feels balanced and flavorful, and it's one of those meals you find yourself craving again soon after. I also always make sure to grab the guacamole because, honestly, who doesn't love chips and guac? What I really appreciate is that this guac is different from the typical versions you find elsewhere--it has a freshness and flavor that really sets it apart. I came here about 2 weeks ago for a friends birthday. I think this is one of their newer locations. The decor is absolutely beautiful! It almost feels like your in Cabo. The service is really great, our server Daniel was extremely attentive, kind, patient. We were a group of 8, so we all had questions, but he was super great. They had one vegetarian dish on the menu, but I have been told by people I could have asked for more options. The vegetarian dish is two vegetarian enchiladas. The plates and cocktails are pricy. I think the 2 enchiladas were $32, no sides come with them. The food was good, but not great. My friends really liked their cocktails. The desserts looked delicious as well. My friend got a couple slices of cake and said they were good. It's definitely an experience here and if you're looking for something different with beautiful decor and good service this is a good place, but the food is average. It is also very loud in there, like the music is so loud. We were at a long table that fit 8 of us and I could not here my friend who was just one person down from me. So it isn't great for conversing with large parties. I have been told the patio is more quiet. It's in Old Town Pasadena so there is not free parking. Javier's opening in Old Town Pasadena was definitely a big deal. This location has so many memories for me because we had many birthday celebrations and memorable meals here when it used to be Il Fornaio. So to see Javier's open here feels like a new Pasadena restaurant landmark. The decor is absolutely 10 out of 11. Beautiful, beautiful. I first came for lunch with a friend, and later came back for dinner. Lunch feels more casual and not too busy, good for a business casual lunch or just catching up with friends. Dinner is much busier and has more of a vibe. I don't drink alcohol, but everyone keeps saying the espresso martini is the hit, so if you're not like me, that's probably something to try. For me, my absolute favorite is honestly the chips. I don't think I've ever had tortilla chips so crunchy and perfect -- not too oily, not overly fried, just perfect. I could eat them all day. Javier's menu is known for elevated Mexican dishes, seafood, enchiladas, ceviche, guacamole, queso fundido, and handcrafted cocktails. But for me, the whole experience is really the ambiance, the energy, and the presentation. It's a beautiful place to dine in Pasadena. read more
