Habanero Salsa and salsa for the chips
    Renee P.

My first order, I will order again. I ordered delivery through DoorDash, and the food was fresh and still warm. I had the Carne Asada Burrito with rice and beans on the side. The complimentary chips and salsa were a nice treat. I'm looking forward to trying the Enchiladas.

Generous portions. Delicious food. Friendly service. What more can you ask for? We came last night for dinner around 6, and it was already packed. I am going to guess this is a local favorite in Pasadena. We were still able to get our seats right away, and the service was quick. I ordered 2 carne asada taco a la carte. They do not skimp on their meat. It was the largest small taco I've ever had lol, and so good. I could not finish both, and my daughter got to enjoy some with me. We all loved all plates. Their rice and beans were so good, I could not stop eating my husband's (luckily he didn't mind since his burrito was so big and delicious as well). Our server was very friendly and it made the visit even more pleasant. Since my daughter has started college out there, I have a feeling we will be back there again soon. Thanks Amigo's Restaurant, we found a friend in you!

Back at it again this spot is a classic hole-in-the-wall--it may look a bit dated, but that's probably how they keep the prices so low. Came here for lunch with some coworkers and ordered the two-item combo with a crispy beef taco and chicken enchilada. The taco was perfectly crunchy, and the beef was juicy and flavorful. The enchilada hit the spot too the sauce was solid. What really stood out was the beans and rice, surprisingly fire. Plus, you get free chips and salsa, which is always a win. Definitely a solid spot for a quick, affordable lunch in Pasadena.

Lime margarita. So good and so strong.

I love this place. I've been coming here for over 12 years now. They have the best margaritas in town, or anywhere I've had so far actually. They're not all sugary like most places make them, they've got some kick to them haha. I usually sit at the bar, and you can order food from there and get chips and salsa while you wait for your order. Always great service, and a great crowd that shows up regularly. It's a very chill vibe, nice vintage kinda feel with the bar chairs and the booths. Def visit if you're in town!

Food was large and in charge. I ordered the Picadillo Chimichanga. I could not finish the burrito and only Finished 3/4 of it and half the plate. The staff was friendly and attentive- we came during Father's Day so it was really busy and didn't have staff attend to our big group as many times during our visit, but when they came around they were quick and efficient. The burrito was good, I wanted to try the wet burrito, but maybe it would've been better for me if I asked for the sauce on the side (maybe next time to see if the chimichanga was crispy). The food taste was as expected, size was huge, but the flavor was average. Trying the ground beef by itself, it was bland, the veggies tasted fresh, and the sauce was yummy- put it all together and it's a decent burrito. The price and the size are pretty good! Thank you for the friendly service and huge meal!

If you're hungry and don't want to spend a King's ransom order my usual go to items: steak quesadillas with guacamole, pico de gallo and red or green salsa and sour cream. For a huge flavor bomb get a small side order of chopped fried garlic cooked in butter. It's a big plate for big eaters and can easily be shared with two or three peeps. Add in a beer or one of the strong tasty margaritas and you're all set( Im known for downing teo or three,,,sometimes four!). My go to margarita is the house mix on the rocks sometimes I'll get the fruit versions if mango, strawberry or peach . Ask on the rocks or blended salt ir mo salt. I get mine with Tajin on the rim and sprinkled on top. Definitely sho' am good!

They force you to eat the food THEIR way. I requested guacamole dip without cilantro ans every time I am told they cannot leave out the cilantro and claim that it is already in the guacamole. But then when they bring it out it is clearly sprinkled on top of the tomato slices so they CAN make it without but CHOOSE NOT TO. This is one of those inflexible Restaurants that do not let you leave out the cilantro. Also they nickle and dime you to death- wanted to charge me 50 Cents for each little slice of lime. Then even when it isnt busy it is super hard to get the waiter/waitress to come back to your table and ask for the things they forget to bring to the table. I had get up and get extra napkins myself. The female waitress with the short hair isnt friendly. The food is mediocre. I only come here bc my friend always wants to come here for the Margarita. Im going to convince my friend to go somewhere else next time.

I love this place!! The food is always excellent. And last night I had the chicken chimichanga-it was pure heaven with sour cream and guacamole. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. My husband had the ceviche and my son had the Mole. Both were delicious. Service was great, always so friendly. We will make this a regular stop when in town!!

I highly recommend this place. First time here, but we'll definitely come again when we're back in the neighborhood. Food was delish! Huge serving size. I was only able to finish half, which was great because I had the other half for breakfast. Yum! Service was excellent and fast, our server was fun and super friendly. The ambiance had a family-friendly vibe. The place wast bustling and while you don't understand what people around you were talking about, they looked like they were having fun.

I cannot even begin to count the number of times we've driven by Amigo's and never even considered trying it out until my wife's coworkers kept raving about how good it was. Needless to say, they were right and the food is damn tasty. We have tried a few dishes over the past 3 visits and everything is good. You can't go wrong with any of the burritos and my wife loves the albondigas soup. There are certain dishes that Amigo's doesn't offer but those cravings can be taken care of with a short drive further East. Apologies for the crappy food pics as we always seem to forget to take them before we dig in.

    Great server Fernando

Amazing happy hour and I highly recommend the dos gringos. Every detail of that dish is made with thought and precision down to the proportions given and the wonderful crisp on the tortilla. Between the 3 adults, we had ordered 2 main dishes and 1 ceviche to share. It was the perfect amount of food and I'm glad we weren't overzealous and ordered 3 mains as it would've been too much. My coworker and I went all in on the birria lineup, because the whole office was talking about birria so we grabbed the Birria Papas (w added guacamole) and Birria Tacos. The papas came out swinging: legit hand-cut fries piled high like they had something to prove. Messy, loaded, and worth every napkin. The tacos were a little on the petite side, like "did I accidentally order the sample version?" but still tasty enough to keep me from complaining too loudly. Now let's talk about the secret hot sauce. First of all, why is it secret?!?!? 2nd of all, I get it. That stuff is not playing around. One bite and my mouth was on fire!!! If you like heat that punches back, this is your moment!! The spot itself is super clean, the staff is genuinely nice (not the fake "have a nice day" nice), and everything just felt easy and welcoming. Prices won't make your wallet cry either, which is always a bonus, esp how expensive everything is these days!! Only downside, the parking is a bit of a game of luck. We got there early and snagged a spot, but otherwise, you might want to park across the street and pretend it was your plan all along. Overall: great food, spicy surprises, and zero regrets!!! Would absolutely go back. Make sure to ask for the "secret hot sauce" you won't regret it!!!

Lots of seating, lots of parking( lot in the back). From the design and thought put into the decor, menu and all the other options (like candy, liquor, beer and wine) you get, it's pretty amazing. We ordered a plethora of items to see what would be our favorite. I gotta say it was pretty much everything. Super polite staff and the flavors of the food made you feel good. You're truly in for a treat. Asada burrito super bomb, great flavor decent size and for the price it's great. See I like to eat(like you!) so I wouldn't have minded if it was tad bit bigger and tad bit heavier. But flavor was super delicious. Crunchy potato tacos, like finger food, once I saw someone else's tacos I was like uh oh I'm gonna need a lot more tacos. Except we stuck to ordering a few items to just see how it goes. And yeah, like I said tacos are SMALL. Like baby size. Not normal if you ask me but to each their own I guess. Birria cup lacked meat, but the flavor was amazing, you get 3 baby sized corn tortillas and that's pretty much it. You would expect more meat but after looking at the taco sizes yeah. You ain't getting anymore! So order more! Asada fries as well, portion wise could have been more giving. Loved the house made fries, great touch. Or atleast I am assuming they are house made, tasted very fresh cut if you know what I mean. Except the portion is tiny, like everything else. So if anyone is understanding my lingo is that Madre Maiz doesn't really put out large portions, which makes you want to order more and spend more. Then again they have their flavor to compensate for the quantity? Last can't leave out the guacamole, fresh and delicious with the bag of chips. Now that food portion has been expressed, let's talk about the meat being slightly on the dryer side. Soft but definitely dryer than majority of the taquerias I have been too. The asada 100% was dry and lacked any form of juiciness. Flavor was there but just dry. 100% needed sauce. The red sauce was chipotle based, the orange was habanero, and the green was cilantro/maybe avocado based(no heat in the green). Every bit of sauce helped every bite. Was it worth trying and reviewing? Yes. Will I ever go back? 100% cause that burrito was pretty good. For 12-13 bucks it's not bad at all, might need two. Beautiful decor, and plenty of seating outside and limited on the inside.

This was not the case when we had our dining experience. We got the plate of chile relleno with a beef enchilada, the mole plate and a kids quesadilla with rice and beans. 1. The chile in the chile relleno was soooo tiny, the battered egg was big and fluffy which is why it looks big. The rice was crunchy and had pieces of overcooked rice. The beef on the enchilada was on top of the enchilada NOT inside and it tasted like boiled beef with no flavor! I put it to the side. The inside just had a bit of shredded marble cheese. So disappointed. The beans were ok, restaurant quality, canned flavored. 2. The mole was very sweet and although that's not a bad thing, it still didn't have any kind of authenticity in the flavor it was as though it was just packaged sauce dumped on the chicken. 3. The kids quesadilla has bellpeppers and onions inside! Which was not disclosed on the menu. My kid likes bellpeppers but not the green ones and not in her quesadillas... come on. I had to pick them off. Over all I'm glad I live far away from here because it was really bad quality food. The service was nice and attentive.
