Cadillac Margarita
Adam R.

12/29/25 Late Review I'm trying to catch up. We would come here with family often when visiting family. This place is very popular and it always seems to be busy which is a good thing . Every time we come it is great service. I didn't catch our waiters name this time but she was great . Everyone we have had has always been great and professional. We ordered a pitcher of Cadillac Margaritas for us all and it was delicious. I ordered the chicken quesadilla and it was delicious and filling for sure. They also have great chips and salsa . Everything was great. Will be back I'm sure . Until next time .. Enjoy !!!!

This is my go to place when I am craving Mexican food. The location is charming and there is an outdoor dining area where pets are allowed should you want to bring your behaved fur child, and the seating inside is cosy with comfortable booths. There is also a bar area, with a good choice of cocktails, beer, wine and margaritas. My last visit I splurged on a couple Don Julio margaritas, yummy. I love that they start you off with warm home made chips, the salsa is always fresh and to die for. Everything I have had here is tasty and did not disappoint, but my favorite is the fish tacos. The fish is a good portion and not overly battered. The servers are also very friendly, and I feel welcomed when I visit. See you soon Casa..

My sister told me about this place and I'm so happy to try it the food was good and exceptional customer service ! I ordered the Mexican pizza w/ chicken and it was good!! The beans were good just how I like it ! They also have happy hour Monday-Friday. With good drinks and many flavors! The Cadillac Margarita was very good and tasty they also have pitchers for drinks too. They have 3 sizes of margaritas as well. The ambiance was very good and gets busy during certain times. I will be coming back here the prices are reasonable too. Plenty of parking!

Best house margaritas in town

This place is so good! The food was fresh, flavorful, and the portions were really generous. Everything tasted homemade, which I loved. The service was great too--everyone was friendly and we never felt rushed. It's just a really comfortable, laid-back place to grab good Mexican food. Definitely coming back!

Ordered nachos and the Mexican pizza. Cant go wrong with the nachos. Mexican pizza was good but not what I was thinking. It was a hit hard to eat. Server was nice. They are dog friendly in case you were wondering

My first time trying this restaurant and I loved it. Prices are very economical and they have happy hour Mon-Fri 2pm to 6pm. I ordered the guacamole, enchiladas verde with no cheese with a salad and refried beans. The food was made fresh and made with authentic traditional Mexican ingredients. The staff was so kind and friendly and welcoming. They gave outstanding service and was very accommodating. I will try the nachos next time or the tacos. Note: They have three different sizes of margaritas.

Chicken Flautas with beans and rice

Date of visit: December 15, 2024 Selections: - Complimentary Chips and Salsa - Diet Coke - Chicken Flautas Experience: After walking around the village area for a bit, my husband decided that we should try this place out. We had the option to sit outside or indoors, so I opted indoors since it was a bit chilly outside to only realize it was also chilly indoors at the booth my husband selected. We were served complimentary chips and salsa as we looked over the menu. I decided to opt for the chicken flautas instead of the chicken flautas. The service was great since they refilled our chips and my soda without me having to flag them down/say anything. Food came out after our second round of chips and I regretted eating so much chips and salsa as I looked down at my large plate of chicken flautas, beans with cheese, rice, sour cream, and guacamole. I definitely would have liked for the flautas to be a bit more crispier cause I like when it's crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. And I only ate the beans that had the cheese on top since I'm not a big fan of these type of beans. But the husband finished my beans and rice for me as well as half my flautas cause I was tapping out from all the chips and soda I consumed. Overall, enjoyed the atmosphere indoors with the Christmas music playing, the attentive servers, and food. Would come back to try the taco salad next time!

I want to say I come here on a somewhat regular basis , at least once a month we stop in for lunch or dinner. When the food is good it's great, but there's definitely been a few occasions when there's some inconsistencies like the rice being hard or very bland in flavor. It's happened a few times now and is disappointing when it does. Some servers are excellent and more attentive than others can be. So experiences can definitely vary from time to time, but when things go smoothly it's great. I like the patio , the chips and salsa are always tasty. The margaritas are always good. They definitely do get busy around dinner time and sometimes there's a wait but it's a nice area to walk around to pass some time.

Reviews are mixed. Many enjoy the fresh flavorful food, especially enchiladas and nachos, and the welcoming atmosphere. Drinks, particularly good margaritas, are also praised.

Order counter with overhead menu board. Cerveza/beer, soft drinks all in bottles as well as house made Mexican snacks & Tortillas are offered on sale. The food that I ordered at Madre Maíz is different from most standard Taquerías starting off with blue corn Tortillas that have an almost black tone. There is an artisanal feel to the food. The toppings for each different Taco seem to be well thought out and paired specifically to enhance the dish and for visual appeal. Although in my opinion, I couldn't quite catch the nuances the chef was trying to convey. Blue corn Tacos: Madre Maíz  1) Arrachera/skirt steak: tough, chaw, citrus sweet, sour, funky garlicky, Queso Oaxaca chewy grilled, bit dairy creaminess, spicy, grilled soft Jalapeño, grilled green onion stalk, purple onion, cilantro.   2) Birria de Res: fibrous beef cooked in and absorbed the Consomé which seems enhanced by possibly Chiles Guajillo or Chile Arbol. Accompanied by flaked Chicharón, purple onion, cilantro, Queso Oaxaca. 3) Carnitas Chilorio/marinated pork from Sinaloa: vinegar acidic, red chile, mellow smoky, sweet-sour. Chewy, meaty dressed with crispy pickled red onion, Chicharón flakes, grilled Queso Oaxaca  All Blue Corn Tortillas all grilled hard, tough, crispy. All have lime & breakfast radish. Various vivid, red, orange, green colored Salsas to pep up the Tacos. 1-3a) Sandía Agua Fresca: Made from puréed red watermelon with small pieces. There is a faint fresh watermelon flavour. Bit over sweetened for my taste, but the melting ice tames the sugar. However, ordering out of season watermelon in late November was my bad. On my way out, bought Cacahuates Enchilados/Chile-Spiced roast peanuts, and a package of standard sized Tortillas de Trigo/wheat tortillas. 4- stars

Parking was limited as this place is located in a small corner plaza on Rosemead Blvd in Pasadena. Outside and inside seatings available. Dining space was exceptionally cozy and clean. Decor was very colorful, too! One all gender restroom for customer use only. The nice gentleman behind the counter was the owner. He was very nice and hospitable. Thanks Marcel! Menu has great selections of Indian and Mexican heritage dishes such as jeera-inspired and pibil rotisserie chicken, masalas, and tacos. Amazing fusion flavors all around! I opted for the two tacos. Got 1 Smoked Lamb Kashmiri Barbacoa & 1 Chicken Tinga Masala plus 1 Jarritos Tamarind. Super delicious and refreshing choices! They weren't busy at the time. My order came out quick. Thanks SCI-ME! My favorite was the Chicken Tinga Masala that comes with tender, hand-pulled chicken tossed in a smoky chipotle-tomato sauce and Indian masala blend served in a light, crispy flour tortilla topped with mustard seed slaw, fresh cilantro, and luscious mango lassi habanero salsa plus a side of chips. SO GOOD! Smoked lamb taco was tender and well marinated... it came with chunks and chunks of flavorful lamb. YUM! I also ordered to-go in support of this biz. I wanted my eldest daughter to try the Smoked Lamb Kashmiri Barbacoa & Chicken Tinga Masala so got one of each again. In addition, I got 1 Charred Haldi Cauliflower Taco and 1 Masala Potato Taco plus 1 Agua Fresca - Ginger Jamaica for me to explore. I couldn't help myself and also brought home the 1/4 Rotisserie Chicken Meal - Pibil. It comes with 2 pieces of chicken + 2 sides (chose Fenugreek Esquites (Small) and Kachumber Salad (Small)) + 2 tortillas + various sauces. Here's my take on the to-go order... Chicken was tasty and well seasoned, but on the smaller side especially for the price. Sides flavors were on point. Cauliflower and potato tacos were good... they could use a bit more seasoning though. Ginger Jamaica was an interesting combo. My overall dine-in experience was very pleasant. Food was amazing. Service was wonderful. Prices were a bit on the higher end, but then again, what doesn't when it comes to gourmet and out of the box creations. Grateful for delicious fusion eats. When you walk into this quaint, cute boutique restaurant, you are immediately engulfed in the aromas of quality food. It is a sensory experience. I was immediately welcomed by the friendly staff. I told them that I needed some time to understand some of the descriptions on the menu. They offered assistance explaining some of their unique dishes. I let them know that I was going to be taking all of the items to go. It was difficult to decide on only a few items. I knew I was going to be ordering for a couple days of great food. I decided on: Burrito Gordito Carne Asade Wet A Chicken and Beef Enchilada plate with red and green sauce with rice and beans. 1 Nachos (Chicken) with lots of cheese Taquitos ... Chicken, Beef, Pork with rice and beans While I waited for my order, I listened to the music playing in the background. There were a number of people that came in and picked up orders that they had phoned in or placed online. The staff was busy checking orders for pickup or taking care of the diners at the tables. They called my name and carefully double checked my order with me, before I left. When I arrived home, the fragrance of the fresh cooked food filled my kitchen. All the items were incredible! I was especially pleased with the cheese spice and flavor of the chicken nachos. I was able to add some of their fresh made salsa to add some extra kick. The enchiladas were incredible. I will definitely be back to this hidden gem, located among some other great boutique stores and restaurants. The staff provided conversation as well as expertise. This was actually our second attempt, the first time we showed up on a Saturday afternoon they were closed, despite their online hours saying otherwise. We gave them the benefit of the doubt and came back. Service was okay. The food? Disappointing. The shrimp cocktail was the whole reason we made the trip. It tasted watered down, had no seasoning, no lemon, and still had shell on the shrimp. It genuinely tasted like a pre-made Costco cocktail in red dyed water. The fajita plate (shrimp, beef, and chicken) was passable but nothing special. What really ended it for us were the hidden fees. We ordered the fajita plate $30 (+ taxes) a massive spread with a separate plate of rice and beans and they brought out THREE corn tortillas. THREE... I am Mexican. I have eaten at hundreds of restaurants in my lifetime and have never been given only three tortillas for a plate that size. We asked for more tortillas and were charged $4 with zero warning. It's not about the money it's the principle. The charge was never disclosed. When I brought it up with the owner, Lupita, she was dismissive and couldn't explain the reasoning it's not even homemade tortillas. You can literally buy 90 tortillas for $4 at a grocery store! She took off one of the charges but kept the other $2. Meanwhile, they offer unlimited chips and complimentary salsa without blinking. The inconsistency is baffling. We genuinely wanted to support this family-run restaurant we loved seeing the family come in together. But the disrespect during that conversation made it impossible to leave on good terms. Do yourself a favor and drive about a 1.5 miles down the street to El Metate. Their large shrimp cocktail is $15, is so flavorful, and the staff treats you like family. Their pozole is outstanding too. We found them on our first failed attempt to come here and we'll be going back to them exclusively from now on. We will never return to Lupita's and made it clear to not go there in our community thread with 15K people. Unless you like hidden fees and mediocre tasteless overpriced food then this is your place otherwise...don't come here.
