Love this place for their food & amazing service! If you're looking for an affordable/yummy meal please give this place a chance... I promise it won't disappoint Ryan Asao * Not Just Another REALTOR. A Friend For LIFE!

AWESOME FOOD AND SERVICE. Went on sunday with family the servers are very welcoming. There is a large variety of foods to choose from. Small hidden place but very friendly, tasty food and ambiance is a home vibe. May this place blow up with success

    Thanks G.

Not just a taqueria and also not a fancy/overpriced modern Mexican restaurant. Just an old school Mexican sit down restaurant found on many LA street corners. Great portion sizes, good beans, free fresh chips, homemade salsas, chunky real guacamole. There's another popular Mexican spot nearby which is also good, but I think Casa Jimenez has better salsa and more traditional flavors/dishes, so it really just depends on what you're in the mood for. I will be back for sure.

Amazing and Friendly Service. The ambiance is your typical Mexican accent and style. Clean restaurant and restroom. The chips and salsas were Delicious I ordered a pozole to baby a hangover It was delicious and full of flavor. I also ordered a Mexican coke. TOTALLY HIT THE SPOT! My husband ordered chilaquiles verdes with carnitas. He did like his food too much but o did not try it. He said the verde sauce wasn't good and very bland. The carnitas were not great but they were ok. The bill was about $46 which is a little steep for me. But the service was stellar. We will definitely be back to try some tacos dorados or a Molcajete to share.

I've been coming to this place for over ten years, happy to see it's still kickin. They come with unlimited refills on chips so load up on that! We got the molcajete and two tamales to share for two people. Molcajete - I would totally recommend this. A lot of other customers get the same thing and it gets served in a cool stone pot. It pretty much has everything you would really want including cactus, chorizo, beef, chicken, cheese, salsa, rice, beans and tortilla. It's literally the whole Shabang! All the meat was tender and easy to cut. There is a single version and a sharable version but the single version is easily sharable for multiple people. (10/10) Tamales ala carte - wow this one is real value. It comes with the add on sections for like 2.60 each and comes drenched with sauce. Gotta love tamales! (9/10) They've always had great service here and are super welcoming. Worth a checkout if you're in the mood for Mexican food! Large portions!!

Clear overcooked sad albondigas, really gross.

I do not recommend dining here at Casa Jimenez. This is an honest review. We wanted to try a New Mexican restaurant and wanted to give Casa Jimenez a chance in Monrovia, and this is how it went. Environment of restaurant, very blah nothing special and very old. Smelled like strong cleaning supplies mixed with fish. Also, not very attractive seeing a purple light above the kitchen flap doors to catch the insects. Also, all the dirty dishes and glasses go in plastic bins so customers can see when dining. Menu, way too large and very expensive. We ordered two combination plates with two cups of albondigas and 1 soda and 1 beer for a total of $57.00! That's totally fine if the food was worth it. But it LACKED! If you like albondigas be prepared to be disappointed! Clear broth albondigas never ever had that, it's usually red or light red broth. The vegetables were so over done/soggy. Meatballs were gross and tiny. It was gross I gave it away to be taken away. Chicken taco I like the fact it was white meat, but ZERO flavor! Flavor Lacked in beans and rice as well. will never return, it's gross and the whole place needs a major renovation. Also, I was staring at the cook eat his food full of sweat. Overall terrible experience, will never return or recommend this for anyone, it's not even worth $5.00 bucks. The only thing that was decent was the chips n salsa. Sorry 1 out of 10. Also, take down the crappy outside patio with plastic chairs and tables. It's depressing.

Very nice hidden Mexican place in Monrovia. I had never even heard of it - went on a Sunday and the service is good, the portions are generous, and all the food is on point and enjoyable. Especially LOVED the guacamole - and o don't normally care about that. Menu is interesting as well so I'll go back and try a broader variety of things soon!

The wait was long, but it was expected, and we weren't in any rush. The service was great, and the food was absolutely delicious. I ordered the chorizo con papas, which came with beans and handmade tortillas. Everything was amazing, and I can't wait to go back. Another reason for this post is to apologize and recognize the incredible staff. We ended up staying about an hour after closing because my friend and I hadn't seen each other in nearly two years. We got so caught up talking and reminiscing that we didn't even realize we were the only ones left in the restaurant. Not once did anyone ask us to leave or make us feel like we had overstayed our welcome. We know staying that long after closing is inconsiderate, and it was never our intention. We sincerely apologize for that. Thank you to the entire staff for your patience, kindness, and hospitality. We truly appreciate you giving us the time to catch up, and we'll definitely be back--for the amazing food and the exceptional service.

First of all I walked in and they have high top table seating which I love! The waitress greeted me and said I can choose where to sit she brought over the meñus alongside chips and salsa. I noticed they have 7tvs in there and they were broadcasting sports so it might be something to think about for the upcoming fifa games (: I browsed through the meñu and couldn't decide! They serve breakfast chilaquiles breakfast burritos, fajitas, seafood, tacos, cocktails d camaron and of course a Michelada meñu. I went ahead and ordered the shrimp tacos and a agua d piña (pineapple) to drink since I was driving I couldn't order a michi but I'll be back soon to try! Anyways my food got to the table and omg they hook it up with shrimp on top and purple onion and avocado! It was so tasty the tacos are under all that and they were nice and cheesy filled with shrimp which is sautéed in their own garlic oil type of mixture. The pineapple drink was so refreshing I honestly didn't finish my Food or the drink I had to take it to go! I recommend this place!! I'm planning a girls night so I'll be back soon ( :

The margaritas were honestly some of the worst we've had -- they tasted like straight margarita mix blended with ice, and we could barely drink them. The enchiladas were also very underwhelming, especially for the price. It was basically shredded chicken in tortillas with sauce, rice, and beans, and for $20 it just wasn't worth it. The food tasted very Americanized and lacked authentic Mexican flavor and seasoning. That being said, the customer service was amazing. The two ladies who helped us were incredibly attentive, kind, and kept checking on us. They offered extra drinks and multiple items, which we normally appreciate because when we go to Mexican restaurants we usually order multiple rounds and end with Cadillac margaritas. Unfortunately, the drinks were so bad we didn't want to order anything else, but their effort and service did not go unnoticed. One small disappointment was when I asked for hot sauce to add more flavor to my green sauce enchiladas, and I was brought the same red enchilada sauce instead, which made the meal worse. I am a food and beverage manager myself, and I can honestly say I would hire those two servers in a heartbeat because they were fabulous. The service was excellent -- it's just the food and drinks that really need improvement.
