I went here yesterday to pick up an order for my sister, and unfortunately, the experience was very disappointing. They don't take phone orders, so we had to order at the window. The older woman working the window didn't greet us and had a very unfriendly attitude, which immediately made us feel unwelcome. The food wasn't any better. The tacos tasted stale, and the beans honestly tasted like canned Rosarita beans. For the price, I expected much better quality and freshness. What really should have been a red flag was that on a Sunday afternoon, there wasn't a single other customer there. I was the only person at the restaurant. First time trying this place today and not impressed with the combo burrito. I will never order it again. Maybe something else will be better like probably a taco but the burrito no. The burrito was just a huge amount of dry beans with ground beef and cheddar cheese in the middle. Yes the price is good but not satisfying. Just way too much dry beans inside. They should use less beans, add some lettuce,tomato, and sour cream would've been a lot better. Did I mention Less beans. The cheddar cheese was good though. The classic old taco place atmosphere was pretty cool kind of like an old Taco Bell restaurant. Taco Lita is an institution to those of us who grew up in the area. The menu isn't extensive or fancy - most items are made with ground beef, beans, iceberg lettuce, cheddar cheese, etc. But the flavor is nostalgic to those of us raised on the place. I was very disappointed with the food. First off, they only serve ground beef. I don't eat red meat, only chicken or turkey, so that made ordering difficult. I decided to try one taco anyway, and the meat wasn't seasoned at all. I also ordered a quesadilla. They essentially melted a full block of cheese in a tortilla, and when I ate it, it was DRIPPING in oil to the point where it was visibly unappetizing. Today's special for Wednesday was the combo burrito with a taco and a drink for $13.75. Not a bad price for what they give you. The taco was so crispy and so fresh I was so glad I stopped and got lunch. They use the Heinz taco packets now and honestly, I love it. I could only get through about a quarter of the burrito before I got full. Basically it's beans, cheese and meat and it was massive. The service inside they were super friendly and very quick. For some, I'm sure the nostalgia keeps them coming back. For me, it was the first time and it was pretty much what I expected. A mom and pop Del Taco, with higher prices but slightly better flavors. The taco is definitely the standout as it's stuffed with meat and cheese. The combo burrito was mid. Beans, meat and cheese. Nothing really special. I guess they don't have their taco sauce anymore, so Heinz mild is all you get. I think a really good sauce would make this place stand out more, but Del scorcho is still the best sauce in the biz, so I guess I'll be going to Del Taco when I need my gringo taco fix. As soon as I ordered a burrito and paid, they called my number. That's fast. I hate to give 3-star but they only deserve it for no longer having their sauce. Taco Lita never disappoints! Literally the only thing that's changed, is their sauce, and not by their own accord. My dad used to take me here all the time growing up and 20 years later, I still find my way back. The interior is still the same with the retro orange and bright green tiles, love it. While their bean and cheese burritos are so simple, I quite literally have never had a burrito I've enjoyed better. The sauce, although it's not their original, is the perfect addition.
