    Sope and taco
    Jeff K.

i'm so glad i stumbled upon this place when i was up in monrovia. I know when the brewery across the street is open, lots of people come here to get food. Anyways, this place is dirt cheap for the amount of food you get. They have dollar tacos on tuesdays. They have delicious and cheap sopes. They have burritos for 7 bucks, and you can pick from a variety of meats. (chicken, lengua, al pastor, barbacoa, carnitas, buche, chorizo, tripas, carne asada... etc) They are typically parked right across the Monrovia Fire Station on Myrtle street.

This taco truck might not look bright and colourful like the other taco trucks in the area, but this $1 Taco Tuesday coming out of this small, two-man operation is surely unbeatable! When there aren't too many Mexican restaurants nearby in this neighbourhood, this late night joint easily fills in that role with a dependable quality of tacos. The traditional menu offers sope and torta, but what stands out is the barbacoa. Few food trucks offer lamb slowly cooked in barbacoa style; at $1.50 for a taco barbacoa, the soft and tender lamb flavour naturally beats out all the other meat selections for me. With a really easygoing and friendly attitude, the welcoming service here already urges me back here again next Tuesday! Situated right across from the fire station on Myrtle, this unassuming taco truck is a convenient destination in late night.

Tasty tacos and plan to try more food ! Price is very reasonable. I got there early right after six just opening, there was no line.

I was hungry and this was close to me and it hit the spot! The truck was located about a block north of the directions given on Google (2062 S Myrtle Ave). It was parked on a long, wide, not particularly busy street. When I went at 9:30pm, it was very easy to just pull up behind the truck. In the 20 minutes that I was there, about seven other parties came up to get tacos which I thought was a surprisingly high number of people considering what a random location we were in. It was taco Tuesday!!! $1 tacos!!! Tacos hit the spot. It's not like ... WAIT IN LINE tacos. But there's barely a line! The people are friendly, they give a huge helping of radishes, GIANT limes, and cucumber slices. They had three little plastic stools available for sitting. We were the only people to sit and eat. There was a trash can next to the food truck.

Perfect place to get your TACO TUESDAY ON!!! They have tacos for 1$ on tuesdays! We love their all meat tacos. Their pork is actually crispy and so delicious!

Support small businesses! This taco truck hangs out on Myrtle at nights. They have all your taco needs, including dollar tacos on tuesdays!

$1 taco Tuesday. Pretty decent tacos. Salsas were really good. They had a habanero salsa which was good and extra hot.

The parking is plentiful and spacious since the truck is parked right on the street in front of the Home Goods plaza. The truck lights are very bright so you can't miss it! We've tried their nachos and tacos here in our last few visits and will keep coming back to try new items. I especially love their asada tacos, they have a great savory and smoky taste to them, and the asada is tender and juicy. Their salsa ties everything together; I also add a little squeeze of lime, and I'm a happy gal. They serve everything here, including great combo meal plates that we want to try one day. The service is very friendly, and they put out chairs on the sidewalk if you want to sit and eat and just want a quick bite. Since we mostly enjoy it hot and fresh, I usually ask for the tacos on a plate with onions, cilantro, and salsa already on it. This gives me the option to add lime and more salsa on their side table, and enjoy it immediately hot, since that's how it should be enjoyed!

I was told it would be a 15-20 minute wait, which is usually how long I normally wait at Mi Hibachi. I told the cashier (owner) I'll go to the store real quick and be back. I returned at 6:25, and my order was still not ready. I thought to myself "hey, maybe they have a big order, let's give it a few more minutes." 6:30, nothing ready. 6:40, nope, my order is still not ready. I see the cooks going back and forth as if they're making a bunch of orders at one time. Okay, so where is my order? Do they not know how to prioritize orders? I am literally standing in front of them, in pouring rain, pissed the hell off. Annoyed is an understatement for how I felt. Finally, 6:52, my order is ready. I take my order home, and once I get home, hungry and ready to eat, guess what? I take one bite of the rice, and it's stale. As if the rice was reheated from the microwave. I've never had this issue until today. Did they see my annoyed face and think they had to rush my order even faster so I don't complain? Well guys, as a restaurant owner myself, this is not how you should do business. Learn to prioritize your orders, especially when there are customers waiting in front of you. 20 minutes turning into 40 minutes is absolutely ridiculous. Also, this is just a side note. DIABLO means SPICY, very very very very very spicy. Your diablo sauce literally tastes like sriracha, hummus, and mayo. Isn't spicy at all. I, as of today will no longer be supporting this business. I am now sitting at home, cooking myself my own steam rice, and pairing with the steak and shrimp I got from Mi Hibachi. Oh, and I also need to use Truff hot sauce cause this sauce ain't cutting it.

When I arrived there were several people there sitting at tables, eating food and enjoying music. I showed up with my pup (yay! pet-friendly!!) and was greeted by a nice lady that told me about the new event and gave me a bookmark to follow them for updates and the truck lineup for future Thursdays. It's the first Thursday of the month from 5:30-9pm. Every food truck event that I've been to is always packed, so it was nice to be able to look around and choose what I wanted based on the menu and not the line. There were only 4 food trucks there, but they were all great trucks, plus this was the first night and Monrovia is a small town. I was torn between the Los Lobos truck (which I've tried before and has amazing burgers and "wachos") and the Kogi truck, which I've never tried, so I went with the Kogi. I ordered the short rib burrito and it was soooooooooooo delicious!!! Service was friendly and I got my order right away since there was NO LINE!! The only downside is that the menu does not mention what goes inside the burritos (or toppings etc for any of the menu items), which would be helpful for most people when they're looking at the menu. I will definitely come back next month. For now, it's a hidden gem and it is awesome.
