This review is for one item and one item only: the Bean and Cheese Burrito. This is hands down the best bean and cheese burrito I have ever had by a mile. Let's talk about Menudo again. We all know that Menudo is made from beef tripe, but it also needs a broth. The broth is normally made from beef bones and beef hocks. I have never found such ingredients in Menudo before. I scooped out a beef foot and a beef hock from the takeaway bowl. There was black hair on the beef hock, which was unacceptable to me. I have a very particular sensitivity to hair, and I won't accept it. Besides the hair on the hock, it was an extremely good Menudo. The flavor was good, not as good as Taco King on Gladstone St. in Azusa, but still good. The Menudo in this restaurant was not small cut--it had big chunks of beef tripe, beef hock, and beef feet. The moment I walked in i got zero hospitality, and didn't feel welcome. They messed up on my order and I was the only group dining in. Ordered a carne asada burrito to-go from Viva Tacos La Estrella... I was told this is the sister location of the one located in East Pasadena. We have spent many a late night there so I was familar with the menu. The burrito was just ok. I ordered it with no cilantro but it was kind of small for $5.75. The meat was good, along with the rice and the green salsa was a tasty condiment to it. I also ordered a cheese quesadilla and that was not bad. I would probably order tacos or a torta next time. Carne asada nachos for sure. Service was decent. Like I said, I ordered to-go so I wasnt there long. The cashier was friendly enough towards me. No complaints there. A mistake that had a happy ending. Sent the hubby out for asada fries. We were all craving them. I had this place confused with another when I ordered online. He went to the place I said to go, and finding it closed asked me again where to go. Luckily he wasn't far from Tacos La Estrella. This is my second time writing this review. First review was flagged by Yelp due to them saying I visited this place "2nd hand." Well this is my first hand review of this establishment. For starters this place used to be great. Over the months-years it's gone down hill with food quality and customer service. Now the real reason for review is their ludicrous charging of the card fee that they have going on here. I phone ordered and was not advised that there would be a surplus charge on their end for using my credit/debit card. So when I arrive I tell them I'm here for the order I placed and she gives me a total. I pull out my card to give to her and that's when she tells me "oh paying with card has a different total." The girl working the cashier does not even greet you and has an annoyed look on her face. She clearly does not want to be there and/or like her job. I ordered a carne asada torta which was alright. Instead of adding the cheese on the whole torta, they just simply placed a small block of cheese. I bit the torta and just tasted cheese at that point. This place just got new owners and wow what a huge turnaround. The food is so much better more fresh tasting. The service is good. They really seem to care about the success of this place. It's more authentic now and the quality is so much better too. I will definitely come back. The old owners had their daughters working and they always had terrible service but I went because its super convenient location. So this place was a life saver, as we were starving and it appeared to be the only restaurant that was open in the general vicinity. The service was decent, a fast food Mexican joint that brought your food to your table. Not what I expected but I'm down with that. The food was tasty. We ordered a lengua burrito, a shrimp burrito and a fish taco. The lengua was nice and soft. The shrimp burrito was well fried and the fish taco was great too. This new location that just opened is very convenient . The tacos are delicious they are so full of meat the portion of the meat served on the tacos is just right. The place is very colorful bright and very spacious . It sure does attract people's attention . The menu prices are reasonable . Customer Service is friendly . One thing that bothered me was the fact that they charge for using debit or credit 70 cents . I was not notified I happened to notice on the receipt . The cashier should always let the customer know or have a sign notifying the customers. Aside from that they make their own Aguas frescas. I love the taste of the Jamaica" Agua fresca" .
