I ordered red chilaquiles for dinner, it was out very quickly, hot, and perfectly prepared. The waitresses were thorough and friendly. Even though I was there during a rush, I didn't feel rushed and it felt very cozy.

They have daily specials, and on Thursdays, they offer sopes for only $1.25 each. The sopes are tiny but delicious! Very filling. I also ordered the small Bionico, which was $5, but I was charged for a medium Bionico at $8.50. I brought this up to the waitress, and she said they haven't changed the menu. That's a bit misleading. She should have told me before I placed the order. Overall, the service was good. They frequently came to the table. There are plenty of tables available, and there is parking in the back lot.

Came here on a Sunday and ordered their menudo, was extremely disappointed! The broth is completely bland and flavorless, It tasted like tomato water. Sad to say but canned menudo has more flavor than this... I had a menudo craving before coming and are leaving with one. 1/5 stars for the menudo

Got a chicken hard shell taco combo plate. It came with 2 SMALL hardshell tacos, rice, beans and a small bag of chips with small ramekins of salsa: $13.45!! What the!? The chicken was tasteless and very minimal, maybe 2 tablespoons, I'm not exaggerating. It was mostly lettuce and cheese. So disappointed. I mean, let's do the math: 1 hardshell $2.99, so $6 for the tacos and your telling me it's another $6.50 for a 1/2 cup of beans and 1/2 cup of rice and small bag of chips?? No thanks.

Vero's is where you can go if you want to feel like you're back at home. Growing up as the daughter of a Mexican immigrant father and a Colombian immigrant step-mother, homemade Hispanic meals were a staple in our house. Refried beans that took 8 hours to make and tacos fried in a pan where you wondered how your parents could win the battle with the splattering oil unscathed. The first time I had Vero's, I felt like I was sitting with my mom and dad again. I felt like I was visiting one of my many tias and eating the beans they lovingly prepared because they knew it was my favorite. As a vegetarian now, many of my favorite meals are not available to me but tacos y papa has always been the thing that I look for immediately on a menu. Many places have disappointed me but not Vero's. The potatoes are soft, the cheese is melty, and the taco shells are crunchy. If you're looking for a comfort meal and a really friendly conversation with the staff, then head to Vero's and feel like you're eating with a friend.

I recently visited Vero's Mexican Restaurant on Orange Grove in Pasadena with my husband and a friend while looking for a great breakfast/brunch spot. I hadn't been here in about 10 years (back when I lived in Pasadena), so I was excited to come back and it did not disappoint. We started with their homemade chips and salsa, and they were absolutely amazing fresh, flavorful, and the perfect way to begin our meal. I ordered the chilaquiles with meat, and they were so delicious, full of flavor, and perfectly prepared. My husband and friend both got the carne asada burrito, and they couldn't stop talking about how good it was. I also tried their "Vampiro" drink, made fresh with orange juice, beets, and carrots it was refreshing, unique, and so good. The customer service is truly top-notch everyone was incredibly welcoming, kind, and attentive. The place is spotless and beautifully decorated with a warm, traditional Mexican feel that makes it feel so homey. Highly recommend this spot if you're looking for authentic, delicious food and a great atmosphere. We'll definitely be back! read more

The yummiest Mexican restaurant in Pasadena. We ordered the chilaquiles and tacos y papas and I swear it cured my hang over haha ! They also serve fresh juices. Our server Celeste was incredibly sweet!! I love supporting local businesses, definitely will be coming back! read more

First time here. I ordered the menudo and cheese enchiladas. The food was slightly bland. Staff was very friendly and I loved that. What I didn't like, was that when I asked for onion, cilantro and lemon, the young lady used her unwashed hands to scoop it up for me. The problem is that she was working the register and handling dirty money. I couldn't eat it. I would love to try more menu items in order to give this establishment a fair shot. But I can't unsee that fact that the may not be properly handling food. The unwashed hands is an extreme turn off. read more

This was my first visit and I will be back next time I'm in the area. I had huevos con chorizo which also included beans w cheese, rice, corn or flour tortillas, chips and salsa. Everything was made to order, fresh and tasty. Excellent cup of coffee w numerous refills. Nice portions. I had leftovers. Service was perfect. Server answered my questions, was friendly and patient with my limited Spanish. My table was clean and roomy. The dining room is not huge but that's my preference so I was happy. I usually love this place but tonight they let me down. I ordered cheese enchiladas verdes to go but when I got home I had chicken enchiladas instead . I called and they said I could come back and get what I ordered. However the cheese enchiladas were burnt and unappetizing. I'm so disappointed. I'm starving and I still can't eat what they gave me. Such a small, cute, Mexican place in Orange Grove. Always pass by, but decided to try it since my fiancé is craving menudo. I got the Carne Asada plate and it's huge and I can barely finish it. Menudo is so good, perfect for winter season! Service is on top of everything and always asks us. My fiance describes this place as homey. Definitely recommend to try this! I really love this place! Very simple neighborhood, low key place. Authentic Mexican food. Excellent customer service. (Be sure to tip the wait staff well because these gals are really sweethearts. I've eaten here numerous times and they are always very nice. They just have genuinely really good service here). Even when it's very busy. The juice here is excellent, (EXCELLENT)!!! and I am grateful for having healthy options. I've brought friends here and they love it also. I haven't had anything here that I don't love. Writing this as I lay on my couch from a slight food coma from eating their yummy sopes! They have the best sopes; the masa is so good! I order mine without meat & they're still so satisfying & tasty bc they put cheese, crema, guac, salsa y frijoles (beans). Mmmm so good! And if you want to give them a try first I recommend going on a Thursday as they have $1 sopes on that day. But even when they're not on special, they're about $2, not pricey IMO. I'd heard of this place and never really went in, but today my husband and I decided to give it a try and we are thoroughly pleased with the food. I had an omelette with chorizo, nopales and cheese with a side of papaya smoothie. Let me tell you very delicious. A must try for those thinking it's no good it really is. read more

Happy to discover this local Mexican gem. I've been going to taco trucks around L.A., but the convenience of this restaurant with fair pricing for street style tacos is great! The flavors are tasty and juicy but not overwhelmingly salty. The green sauce was good, but the red sauce tasted a little off to me... Customer service is friendly and relaxed. There is cozy seating inside, but I got my tacos de lengua, tripa, and al pastor for takeout. I will definitely be coming back to try out their other daily specials and more lengua and al pastor. read more

Maybe I'm getting to be an old fuddy duddy but I hate when parents let their kids go free range. Screaming and running around like the establishment is a park these kids becoming trip hazards. There needs to be a revamp of their board game collection. There three boxes of games that looked incomplete or used up, not good with such games as Scrabble and Pictionary. When it was time to pick up the order, the restaurant could not spare anyone to help bring the food to our car, despite it being a large catering order and the pickup taking place on a very busy avenue. What was most disappointing was the lack of concern or willingness to offer any assistance. The food arrived late for our event as a result. While the food was good, the poor service has made me reconsider ordering catering from them again, returning as often, and recommending them to others. It's a shame because I genuinely enjoy the food, but there are other options available. Hopefully, the service issues I experienced with catering do not eventually carry over into the restaurant experience.

MATCHA MOCHI PARFAIT (Matcha pudding, syrup, vanilla soft serve, corn flakes, matcha ice cream, red bean paste, mochi and whipped cream) Been craving matcha parfait and it delivered! Love that it was served in a parfait glass, love the layers and different textures in the parfait. However, one small critique and comparison to Kansha Creamery's matcha parfait is that NGT's matcha ice cream lacks in matcha flavor and it's not as rich nor as creamy as Kansha Creamery. But NGT does have a good serving portion of the matcha parfait than Kansha Creamery. Nonetheless, I did enjoy it. HOJICHA FLOAT WITH MOCHI (With a scoop of hojicha ice cream and mochi) This was very disappointing. Not sweetened, so you have to add simple syrup that is provided at one of the stations. Regretted ordering this. It was not worth the price! The hojicha flavor wasn't bad, but as an ice cream, it was not creamy nor sweet like an ice cream should. It was more of an icy ice cream. Also, everything was redundant in this dessert. Iced hojicha with hojicha ice cream. Everything all tasted one note without any variance in this dessert. The mochi was good, but because it is a neutral flavored rice cake, it didn't add any flavor to the dessert. SELF-ORDER KIOSK There is only one kiosk to use, which is bad when there's a long line. However, it wasn't busy the day I went, so no wait time. You can also order at the front register if there's any issue using the kiosk or in case of a long line. When ordering at the kiosk, take a buzzer, add the buzzer number before checkout. Print out a copy of your receipt too, just in case. CUSTOMER SERVICE Very friendly and attentive service! Staff were nice all around. The woman ahead of me had issues with the kiosk, so the staff let us know that they could also ring up our order at the front register. Also, she was helpful all throughout the kiosk checkout process. AMBIANCE / TABLES & SEATS Love the casual ambiance. As soon as you walk in, you'll see the kiosk on the left and the staff at the front register. It is bright with minimal decoration. Clean tables. Variety of tables: Tables for 2, tables for 4, communal tables, bar seats as well. You simply place your order at the kiosk and pick a table and wait for your buzzer to ring. It is a self-service restaurant, where you pick up your own food and clean up afterwards. It's a good place to hang out. It wasn't noisy either. No loud music. PARKING Street parking is available if you want to drive around looking for the perfect spot. Good street parking is not easy to find in Pasadena and it's best to park in a parking garage. I parked at School House Garage at 33 E Green St, Pasadena, CA 91105. Rate is $1.00 for the first 2 hours. $2.00 for each additional hour. $12 for daily parking. It is a close walk to NGT. My experience was good, I will return for the parfaits. I might try their savory foods too.

The Panda Beef was shockingly amazing with crisp and flavorful slices of beef. We finished up dinner with Chocolate Lava Cake and the Warm Rice Pudding, the latter of which is also made in house. My hubby and I have been frequenting this restaurant for about a year now, and I can honestly say it's the best Mexican restaurant around in Pasadena . The food is truly authentic, which is something we deeply appreciate. My go-to dishes are the chilaquiles plate or enchiladas and chile relleno, all of which are consistently delicious.
