Came in on a Friday morning, very friendly staff and welcoming. The food was delicious and portions size were big. The ambiance is very homey vibes. I totally would recommend this place and will be returning again.

Menudo with foot bone, as requested.

Excellent menudo. I could only eat half of it. Plus warm crispy freshly made chips (which may be why I couldn't finish the soup!). Great welcoming service for this gringa.

They have daily specials, and on Thursdays, they offer sopes for only $1.25 each. The sopes are tiny but delicious! Very filling. I also ordered the small Bionico, which was $5, but I was charged for a medium Bionico at $8.50. I brought this up to the waitress, and she said they haven't changed the menu. That's a bit misleading. She should have told me before I placed the order. Overall, the service was good. They frequently came to the table. There are plenty of tables available, and there is parking in the back lot.

This is a no frills, small restaurant with tasty authentic Mexican food, friendly service, affordable prices. I recommend their menudo!

Came here on a Sunday and ordered their menudo, was extremely disappointed! The broth is completely bland and flavorless, It tasted like tomato water. Sad to say but canned menudo has more flavor than this... I had a menudo craving before coming and are leaving with one. 1/5 stars for the menudo

Got a chicken hard shell taco combo plate. It came with 2 SMALL hardshell tacos, rice, beans and a small bag of chips with small ramekins of salsa: $13.45!! What the!? The chicken was tasteless and very minimal, maybe 2 tablespoons, I'm not exaggerating. It was mostly lettuce and cheese. So disappointed. I mean, let's do the math: 1 hardshell $2.99, so $6 for the tacos and your telling me it's another $6.50 for a 1/2 cup of beans and 1/2 cup of rice and small bag of chips?? No thanks.

Vero's is where you can go if you want to feel like you're back at home. Growing up as the daughter of a Mexican immigrant father and a Colombian immigrant step-mother, homemade Hispanic meals were a staple in our house. Refried beans that took 8 hours to make and tacos fried in a pan where you wondered how your parents could win the battle with the splattering oil unscathed. The first time I had Vero's, I felt like I was sitting with my mom and dad again. I felt like I was visiting one of my many tias and eating the beans they lovingly prepared because they knew it was my favorite. As a vegetarian now, many of my favorite meals are not available to me but tacos y papa has always been the thing that I look for immediately on a menu. Many places have disappointed me but not Vero's. The potatoes are soft, the cheese is melty, and the taco shells are crunchy. If you're looking for a comfort meal and a really friendly conversation with the staff, then head to Vero's and feel like you're eating with a friend.

    Cheese enchiladas verdes.

I usually love this place but tonight they let me down. I ordered cheese enchiladas verdes to go but when I got home I had chicken enchiladas instead . I called and they said I could come back and get what I ordered. However the cheese enchiladas were burnt and unappetizing. I'm so disappointed. I'm starving and I still can't eat what they gave me. I don't know if I'll go back. Too bad because I considered Veros to be an exceptional Mexican restaurant.

    Horchata

Bruh I redownloaded yelp to write this... The food isn't worth it at all there's no flavor and the meat amount is ridiculous it's literally specks of meat. The flan is the only good thing. The horchata is like you just put brown food coloring in water! Waste of $20

had a bad experience with the chicken enchiladas but management handled it accordingly and were helpful, wouldn't recommend though

This is a must try off of lake in Pasadena…read more Reliably good food every time I have been here. Chips and salsa with WARM chips. A to die for pork tomahawk. Amazing happy hour and I highly recommend the dos gringos. Every detail of that dish is made with thought and precision down to the proportions given and the wonderful crisp on the tortilla. Amazing deal! Be careful when ordering sparkling water because they'll bring you an overpriced bottle of sparkling water instead of just their fountain soda water without asking for clarification. I've made that mistake a couple times. Otherwise, I highly recommend Mercado; you can't really go wrong.

Their patio is nestled in a small little mall complex, and therefore is a bit more quiet and relaxing than the bustling Lake Ave in Pasadena. We went on a perfect weather day, and most people opted to sit outside instead of inside the store. We sat inside since we had a sleeping baby in a stroller, and was surprised to find there are a few others doing the same with a stroller also! Plenty of space for all of us too. Between the 3 adults, we had ordered 2 main dishes and 1 ceviche to share. It was the perfect amount of food and I'm glad we weren't overzealous and ordered 3 mains as it would've been too much. We got a mole enchilada, ceviche tropical, and the carnitas chilaquiles. everything tasted amazing and it was the perfect dish to introduce my parents to the unique mole flavor. staff members were very friendly and super accommodating, glad we ventured out to Mercado!

Not being familiar with the El Matador menu decided on the El Matador platter. It was a choice that let me try many things all at once. LOVED IT ! Loved everything about the platter (including the price). This is now my new "go to" restaurant for good mexican food. The only negative would be the amount of salsa included with the platter. I can never get enough salsa for my meals. Check them out, I think you will find them to be a wonderful replacement.

It is a real cornerstone of Pasadena dining, there is a love or hate feeling when you bring up this restaurant among locals. Chips and salsa is provided with orders so it is the perfect after work stop. This was not the case when we had our dining experience. We got the plate of chile relleno with a beef enchilada, the mole plate and a kids quesadilla with rice and beans. 1. The chile in the chile relleno was soooo tiny, the battered egg was big and fluffy which is why it looks big. The rice was crunchy and had pieces of overcooked rice. The beef on the enchilada was on top of the enchilada NOT inside and it tasted like boiled beef with no flavor! I put it to the side. The inside just had a bit of shredded marble cheese. So disappointed. The beans were ok, restaurant quality, canned flavored. 2. The mole was very sweet and although that's not a bad thing, it still didn't have any kind of authenticity in the flavor it was as though it was just packaged sauce dumped on the chicken. 3. The kids quesadilla has bellpeppers and onions inside! Which was not disclosed on the menu. My kid likes bellpeppers but not the green ones and not in her quesadillas... come on. I had to pick them off. Over all I'm glad I live far away from here because it was really bad quality food. The service was nice and attentive. The ambiance was empty and almost abandoned... and I even went on a weekend.
