    Mapo Tofu

Overall, everything was really good! I went with a large group, so we decided to do family-style dining. We sat on the outdoor patio, but the inside of the restaurant was clean and pretty. Service was good. They were attentive and packed all our dishes to go for us. All the dishes tasted delicious, but the egg drop soup and lettuce wraps were my favorites. I could honestly finish the entire egg drop soup by myself :) that's how much I loved it! The mapo tofu wasn't too spicy and paired perfectly with steamed white rice. The orange chicken and fried rice are always safe options. I didn't try the sushi, but it wasn't a big hit at our table. The only dish that fell short for me was the upside-down chicken crispy noodle...the sauce was pretty bland. This is a great place to come to, and it feels fancier than your average dine-in restaurant.

Lunch date with my mom and she wanted to go to Panda Inn in Pasadena. It's my first time back at the newly renovated Pasadena location. We used to go here all the time before the renovations. Huge difference in ambience, but same good customer service and food quality. They used to have Brunch on Sundays with Mai tais and Mimosas - wish they'd bring that back!! We ordered several things Cucumber salad, chicken lettuce wraps (order more lettuce wraps), the cashew chicken was good, but still prefer their Kung pao chicken. Mongolian beef, upside noodles with chicken, and brown rice. ALL DELICIOUS and portions were great - we had plenty for dinner too. For dessert, we ordered the warm rice pudding with coconut milk and vanilla ice cream. Sooooo good. Great for family lunching - 10 out of 10 for me! Enjoy.

40yr anniversary. New menus look good. More photos. Love this place... Sunday brunch is amazing too..11-3

Have been wanting to try this place for so long and I am so glad I finally did for my brother-in-law's birthday! Food: 11/10! Everything we ordered was incredible. From what I remember, we ordered the egg drop soup, green beans, orange chicken, honey walnut shrimp, shrimp fried rice, and mapo tofu. The stand out for me was the honey walnut shrimp and the orange chicken. The flavors were insane! I loved the textures to it as well. Service: 10/10! From the nice ladies in the front to help us to our table, to the actual waitress taking our order and making sure we always had water in our glasses... the service was outstanding! Ambiance: 10/10. Inside was so clean, beautiful, and spacious! Even the outside seating looked beautiful. Overall, this was my first time here but definitely not my last time! Can't wait to come back!

My third visit, mainly to try their mapo tofu. OMG it's the best-tasting version I've had in a long time. Most restaurants either make it Cantonese-style (silken tofu, no Sichuan peppercorn), or Sichuan-style (soft tofu, too much peppercorn). The Panda Inn version is an ideal balance of the two -- soft tofu, mildly tingling peppercorn in a highly aromatic dark brown sauce. Eating it with white rice is mandatory. It reminds me of Iron Chef Chen Kenichi's signature mapo tofu in Tokyo. My compliments to the 'Iron Chef' of Pasadena Panda Inn!

Every time we dine in here we always enjoy the food. The service is usually pretty spot on as well. I do recommend making a reservation because they always are busy! We have sat on the patio the last few times and enjoy the scenery.

Place was pretty busy but service held up overall. Nice place. Even the bathroom looks fancy. Would come back for their regular menu or maybe try their omakase if in the area.

Panda Inn truly did not disappoint! My wife is from Altadena and she would always tell me about Panda Inn and how it's the origin for Panda Express. Last week we were able to bring our family for dinner! My wife order the cooked sushi, sorry I forgot the name of it BUT IT WAS GREAT!! We had Shrimp Lo Mein, Orange Chicken, Shrimp Fried Rice, Beef Fried Rice and it was delicious!! I have a mushroom allergy and they were so nice to ensure they didn't have it in the food. Definitely a 5 star express, thank you all so much for the experience! The building is beautiful and ambiance was great!

So I finally made it to the famed Panda Inn. I've been wanting to check it out for a while, especially since it's the birthplace of Panda Express. Luckily, I now work nearby, so I was finally able to give it a try. The place has been recently updated, and the dining room is spacious with a modern feel. I sat at the bar for a few drinks and a meal. Unfortunately, there's no happy hour, which was a bit of a letdown. Both the drinks and food are a little pricey for what you get. I ordered the famous orange chicken because you have to on your first visit. It was definitely better than Panda Express, but you're also paying about three times as much. Overall, I came for the history and to say I've been. That said, there are plenty of better Chinese food options in the area at a lower price point. Still, if it's on your list, it's worth checking out at least once. So if you gotta go you gotta go.

We had a great experience at Panda Inn in Pasadena, and a big shoutout to Jaycob W and David for their outstanding service. They were both incredibly attentive and took the time to help us choose the right amount of food for our group of four, which we really appreciated. The service was fast and completely effortless from start to finish. This isn't our first time dining here, and it definitely won't be our last. We keep coming back for the consistently great food, top-notch service, and overall experience. Highly recommend!

I have always loved Panda Inn, i've been coming here as a child but this was my first time at the renovated location and can I say WOW beautiful work... feels like a luxury restaurant and the service was great. I love that it is family style so everyone can share and split things ... the noodles were my favorite they were deliciousssss. not pictured here we also got the beef and broccoli and it was so good. the lettuce wraps are am must have. only complain I have is that I want MORE then 4 lol I would say get the chocolate lava cake but skip out on the warm pudding

Panda Inn in Pasadena is slightly further out than the main parts of the city. There's plenty of validated parking and street parking for the large prettily decorated restaurant that also has a patio. The staff is friendly and moves quickly. We over ordered but were happy to have leftovers. The orange chicken was great. We opted to get kung pow shrimp as opposed to chicken. The chow fun (with chicken) was an item the table next to us asked about. The Mushu Pork didn't quite live up to my childhood memories but was tasty. I'd go back again but perhaps for lunch so there could be less traffic.

BEAUTIFUL SPACE TO DINE ====================== My first time at the renovated location and it's beautiful. The food is a bit different. It is much more spicier than I remember. We used to go to the old restaurant quite often and it has totally changed. My husband and I took advantage of the lunch menu that is available from Monday to Friday from 11-3 PM. See my photos with prices. I chose the Spicy Tofu Eggplant. That comes with a choice of Egg Drop Soup or Hot and Sour Soup, an eggroll and white or steamed rice. My husband chose the Orange Chicken. We both chose the spicy Hot and Sour Soup. We shared our entrees. First of all I hate to say it, but I like the eggplant and tofu and orange chicken a bit better at Panda Express. Call me crazy, but I am honest. The service started out great, but by the time we paid our bill it dropped off. No more warm and fuzzy if you get my gist by the time we left an hour later. I was happy with the Mai Tai and I indulged because it was my early Valentine's Day lunch. I'd definitely order that again. You can get your parking validated for three hours I believe.

When is the Brunch coming back?

That's the question all the old regulars ask. And still no answer as of last week

Do you have gluten free offerings?

No, nothing at all. I went on 2/24 and waitress said, they don't have any options. Not even Gluten free soy sauce. We had to leave and not eat there, which was disappointing.

Do you have any gluten free dishes?

No nothing. We had to leave.

Does this location use artificial colors and ingredients like the fast food chain or is the food more natural and fresh? Are non traditional low quality seed oils used?

    Pretty stealthy badmouth job!

    Is Sunday brunch back?

We were there on a Sunday. No brunch. I doubt they will do that again, unless, sales start to dip!

Is brunch still available at Panda Inn on weekends?

I'd like to know from the company which dishes are confirmed vegan?

None of our dishes are confirmed vegan at the moment.

Are they part of the Panda Express chain?

Hi Laura, Panda Inn and Panda Express are both owned by the parent company Panda Restaurant Group. Panda Inn locations are sit down Chinese food restaurants, while Panda Express is fast food service.

Is it recommended to make a reservation for party of 4 for Sunday brunch? Thanks.

Yes, unless you want to wait awhile.

    Do they have lunch specials?

Yes they do, along with happy hour drink and food specials. And their Sunday brunch is fantastic with bottomless Mai Tai’s and Mimosa’s.

I was seated right away, and I opted for a 10-piece omakase. However, it took a really long time for it to arrive, to the point that other patrons who arrived after me got their sushi before me. It was confusing, but eventually, I got my food. I'd asked to have the omakase come all at once, but for some reason, I got five first, then another five long after I'd finished the first half. In addition, I was not informed of the sushi pieces for the first half, so I didn't know what I was eating. It also took a while to get my complementary fried shrimp head and my black sesame panna cotta (the latter was absolutely delicious, honestly the highlight!). Service was really slow, but the staff were really apologetic about it, given that it was super busy (for weekday lunch)! However, I'd made the reservation for my birthday, and unfortunately, I found the experience disappointing. The sushi was okay, but I've had better; I found Osawa's fish to be a bit tough and the rice was slightly hard. Again, the black sesame panna cotta was the best thing I've had, and I appreciated that it was complementary for my birthday. Having paid over $109 for an average meal with extremely-slow service wasn't in my plan, but overall, I'm glad I got to try this neighborhood staple.

We were checked on a couple times but seem like the staff weren't fully paying attention as I asked for some extra utensils and my partner asked for the other dishes that our order comes with but they were all forgotten, requiring a 2nd request before receiving our items. From the pictures posted, it seem to be the most unique roll and the most popular roll to try. Highly recommend trying this as it has a great flavoring balance between the ingredients and the mango on top. MUST TRY!!!! The cheese bulgogi is also pretty underrated. Although a bit on the expensive side, if you like both combined, this is the dish for you. Love the variation of the dish, and it was also cooked to perfection. The bento box is great as well, presented very nicely, and portion is huge I'd say. A great box to eat on the go or at the restaurant. Not too expensive as well.

We noticed other customers were enjoying the omakase--the premium at the bar is $250 pp and the "lower" tier table omakase is $185 pp. everything looked delicious but I am also a control freak and enjoy being able to select what I want. With that perspective, the chirashi really was the way to go for me (and next time I'll just add on another order of uni!). In the end, Sushi Enya may not end up being our go-to omakase, if only because their other offerings are so good! Fresh fish, tasty sushi rice and tempura, and attentive and efficient waitstaff. 5/5 stars easy!

This place keeps popping up every time I try to search up sushi in the Pasadena area. Don't get me…read morewrong with my 3 star review - there's nothing wrong with Sushi Enya, I just feel there are better spots to get sushi in the area. First of all, we made a reservation for 6 people - 4 adults and 2 babies. We asked for one high chair and they said they dont have any available. Turns out, the entire restaurant only has 1 high chair. They ended up offering us a booster seat 10 minutes after we had settled in as if they forgot they have that in storage. We ordered a few sushi rolls and nigiris. My husband and I opted for the Chirashi bowl. While it was nice that the chirashi bowl had roe on it, the size and the amount of fish on it definitely did not justify the $35 price tag. If I knew i had to pay this much, I probably would've opted for Mills Allley which is nearby with better options.
