Our go to fish place. Their portions are a good size and when we need to eat healthy, this local sit down restaurant is our go to. Also great for those busy nights to just call in our order and pick up. Staff is always friendly. They prepare our order in a timely manner. Food is always yummy, love their clam chowder. Haven't dined in for a while- usually get takeout. I ordered the swai fish, half Cajun and half garlic butter, with fire roasted corn and balsamic glaze brussel sprouts as sides. The plate was HUGE, beautifully presented and everything was so, so delicious. The fish was fresh, flavorful and even better enjoyed right away when you dine in. Located in Hastings Ranch Plaza, parking is shared among the nearby businesses. We didn't have any issues finding a spot in the evening. Environment: We had placed our order ahead of time using Uber Eats. When we arrived, we went up to the pick up area at the counter. A short wait later and we received our order. What was ordered: - Salmon and Swai Combo (yummy; we also got it with fries) Yay/Nay/Meh: Yay. The meals at California Fish Grill have been consistently good. My BF has been asking to try CFG so we did tonight. He ordered calamari, lobster roll, fish and chips, and poke nachos for me. Let's start with the good. We did like the fish and chips. The pieces were big and the fish was flakey. The calamari was pretty good. Okay, now for the not so good. The expensive lobster roll was really small, half the lobster of other places, and lacked flavor. I wanted the poke with salad but their app didn't allow me to order it so I had to go with the poke nacho. The poke nachos was not so good as well. The portion was big but the house sauce was too sweet and made me not want to eat much of it. I wouldn't mind coming back for the fish and chips but that's about it. read more

Saving the planet while eating good is the kind of multitasking I support. We dined in and ordered the lobster roll plate which came with two buttery, tender lobster-filled rolls and fries (because balance). The lobster was so fresh and flavorful, I genuinely paused mid-bite just to process how good it was. And the fire-roasted street corn? Delicious! Not your average street corn. Super clean restaurant accompanied by a wonderful and kind staff! I wish I could remember the name of the woman who took my family's order - but I will say that I really appreciated her patience. My parents are older and occasionally take a little too long to decide what they want. Her knowledge of the menu paired with her guidance aided in an enjoyable dining experience. She even checked in on our table mid-meal to clear out a couple of empty trays and make sure we were satisfied with the taste of our food. We each ordered a different fish. My dad got the Barramundi, my got the Rockfish, and I had the Atlantic Salmon. Barramundi was flavorful; the Rockfish could have used a little more salt - but it flaked apart beautifully. My salmon was cooked nice and the garlic butter paired really well with my choice of sides (corn + fries). By the time I left, a much larger party was placing their orders and the woman who took our order was manning the register alone. I had to call to confirm the order a day before but during pick up she packed up everything perfectly. Down to the sauces and the utensils and separating items based on cold and hot. Fantastic spot for grilled fish! I went with the Swai fish/Salmon fish combo plate and I chose half cajun/half garlic butter sauces on top of my fish. The fish came on the bed of rice and I added coconut shrimp and cesar salad as my sides. The fish was incredibly delicious, tender and juicy and the cajun and garlic sauces on top added great flavors to the fish. The coconut shrimp had great flavor to it and was crispy on the outside and perfectly tender on the inside. The cesar salad was okay. Overall, a great combo plate and definitely worth a try! The spot itself has multiple tables and a patio for dining in. You order through an electronic device at the register, but I did have a nice lady come up to me and advise me on some bestselling items. 90% of the time I eat here. However, today, I decided to take it to go and they have a couple of computer screens where you can order while you're here. If you pay cash, you have to order with a person so I let the people that were waiting for the computer now that I was paying cash they said no problems so I went straight to the cashier. The manager whose name is Francis, was very rude and accused me of cutting the line I explained to her and so did the people in line that I told them I was paying cash and they had no problem with me ordering because I wasn't ordering on the computer. She reprimanded me and was incredibly rude. I will not put up with rude behavior, especially from the manager who should know better. Shame on her.!! read more

Came here for the Toohoodtogo deal. It was definitely NOT worth the $5 spent to get the meal "worth" $15, and the gas to get there. All we got were the cheapest sides consisting of a container of white pilaf rice that wasn't great and 2 containers of beans. LAME! For $5 I could've gotten tacos at a taco truck that was better than the crap given to me. Totally disappointed in the establishment. Def not coming back here even for a regular meal. Unreal! This restaurant has several locations, and each place has very friendly people working there and professional and they even come by the table to check on us to see that we were satisfied with the quality of their food and we were, me and my colleague both had the Sea Bass and it was very delicious. I had mine with sweet potato fries and seasoned sliced tomatoes with feta cheese and that was really tasty. The place is kept clean. There are several choices to make and I went with the recommendation of my friend and I am glad he suggested to eat here.
