Got Carne asada, al pastor, horchata. I told my friend that I had to try California tacos since I haven't had them yet. This place is a good late night taco spot to go to where they serve up fresh tacos. I really liked the flavor of the meats and the tortilla was good too. It is a cash only spot so you wouldnt be able to pay with card. So worth it!
The BF found this place after we went to a ucla game. Dang it was good. You just got to the window and they hand you a plate of food in seconds. Yes please. I got the chicken and asada sans onions with mild sauce. Bomb!!! The chicken is so tender and has such great flavor and the asada also is well seasoned and it's cut into bite size chunks. I can see why this place is considered one of the best in America. Next time we want to try nachos. BF got 2 pastors and 1 asada and also loved every bite.
My husband thinks these are the best tacos he has had near Old Town Pasadena, and I agree. It's a local taco truck in a parking lot near the Pasadena Antique Center, and they have a long standing bar area on the side that you can eat at. We ordered one of every type of meat taco except the chicken, and they were all really delicious. Service is quick and efficient. The food is hot and fresh and tastes better than the ones from Guisados. They're not too big, so you can try multiple flavors without getting too full.
My friend and I found ourselves craving street tacos so we decided to try this spot for the first time! Service was really quick but I wish we were able to put the toppings and salsa ourself. Ps~ask them about the free stickers! Tacos are $2.50 each and I got the asada, al-pastor, and cabeza. I loved the seasoning and tenderness of the meat. They have a small standing table on the side for you to eat as well.
Been coming here for years!!!! Same great flavors. Best tacos for late nights! The Agua Frescas are on point!
Best tacos in Pasadena! I live here and come here when I want tacos. Friendly staff, super fast service. When you order and pay your tacos are ready. The red salsa is delicious. My favorite are the asada tacos and the chicharon!
Just some great tacos, not much more to say. We came late at night and got the carne asada, al pastor, chicarron, and cabeza tacos. Not a single one was a miss. Everything was flavored and seasoned beautifully. The meats were all perfectly tender and so delicious. All the toppings complemented them beautifully without overpowering anything. We also ordered a horchata, which was packed with flavor. The cinnamon was a bit overwhelming, but bearable. There was a little table/stand for you to eat at right next to the truck, which was nice for you to be able to relax for a second and finish your food. The workers were all super nice and friendly. Would love to go back and try it all again.
Love coming here! There are 2 taco trucks along Fair Oaks and this definitely sells the better tacos! I usually love the al pastor nachos and their cabeza tacos. Our most recent visit, we got our usual nachos however, something tasted a bit off. It wasn't as flavorful as always. Hopefully it was just a one time thing because we love coming here. The nachos come with your meat of choice, cheese, onions, cilantro, and jalapenos. The green mild salsa is what I usually go for since I can't handle spicy food well. Sometimes the nachos taste a bit stale but for the most part, they're really delicious. Their drinks are also really good! They're very fast here so if there's ever a line, it's actually because they're just that busy. Even then, the line goes by so quickly. It is at a car shop lot so there isn't really much ambiance to see but it's food truck so you just grab and go. They have a space where you can stand and eat which is nice. There's an abundance of street parking and the pricing are: $2.50 - tacos $11.50 - nachos $4 - specialty drinks $2 - sodas
Tacos are bomb! I got Chicharron and I absolutely loved it! They're really quick with the tacos. They're super friendly as well - I saw a cute sticker they had and one of the staff noticed and gave me one! There's street parking, it was pretty easy to park here. They have a bar table on the side that you can stand by to enjoy your tacos and drink.
4++ Classic taco truck located in Pasadena. From the looks and sounds of it, this truck (or at least these folks have been making tacos) have been around for a very long time. This place is CASH ONLY and they have a lot of the standard/ classic offerings in terms of meats and menu items. Along with some aguas frescas and sodas to order if you need something to wash your meal down. If ordering the tacos, these are the type that are on the smaller side (with reasonable prices), so you order a bunch. I personally ordered four and that was a good amount of food. I came here after finding this spot when I was hungry and leaving an event at the Rose Bowl. I haven't eaten lunch, so this place popped up on my feed and it looked perfect! When I got there, the line was pretty long and the vibe was lively (on a Saturday night). Some of the folks in line looked like they were coming from the same event I was getting out of, but not sure if they line was so long or if this place is just that popular. Also, just know that the truck is situated in a small retail lot so mostly it's just standing room with a counter along a fence if you want to eat there. I ended up ordering 2 asada tacos, an al pastor taco, and a chicharron taco. I got some pina agua fresca to go with it. The tacos are already dressed up when you get them based on your order - onions/cilantro, hot or mild salsa, etc. The tacos definitely hit the spot and were tasty. Plenty of street parking, especially on the later side at night.
The taco truck was easy to find and when we went the line wasn't too long to order. The workers were friendly and quick with taking our orders. There wasn't anywhere to sit since it is just a taco truck so we took it to go and ate somewhere else. The tacos were delicious with each meat providing a different texture and taste. The tacos looked small but were pretty filling.
Get them before they sell out! Came on taco Tuesday and did not disappoint. Just the right amount of sauce and meat without the tortilla breaking apart. Quick and friendly and they seem to know a lot of people because everyone becomes a regular real fast. Highly recommend, easy to get to, park on street. Enjoy my friend
First, you have to find street parking which can be a pain. It's also cash only so he prepared. This location is a food truck so you'll likely take the food to-go. But you can dine there since they have a dinning shelf as a table. I really appreciate it since you don't have to awkwardly hold your plate while eating. The service was good and quick. I got the pastor, asada, and carnitas tacos. They are small and delicious tacos. I definitely could've eaten four when normally three is my limit. The corn tortillas weren't too dry. These tacos are double wrapped with tortillas and I normally remove the outer layer. But I was fine with the two tortillas. The tacos were well balanced. The meat were juicy and flavorful. I used some lime and the mild sauce on the side as well. The mild sauce has a nice small kick, definitely safe for those not super into spice. I'd definitely would return here again!
Before you read anything else, they only take cash so be sure to hit an ATM before you come. So many things I love about this taco truck! We had gone to the UCLA football game at the Rose Bowl on Saturday night and after all the mayhem was over at 11:30 pm I really wanted some truly good food and not get gouged on price - and I knew that Yelp would help me find just that...and we found Los California Tacos! First of all, this food truck was voted the nations #1 food truck in 2022 by ZenBusiness who evaluates food trucks based on Yelp reviews and voted them #1 out of the top 10 most reviewed food trucks in the US! - So there's that. And then we found out why, first hand. I'm originally from Texas and the rule there is the way to find a great restaurant you for a place that has a lot of cars in the parking lot and a line out the door. And this taco truck is tucked back in the small parking lot of an auto repair shop sonofabitch you're driving too fast you might miss it. But we saw all the cars parked on the street and then the line of people at the truck. My girlfriend was like "I don't wanna wait a half hour to eat" but because of how late it was (they stay open till 2:30 am) we decided to stay and give it a try. It was astonishing how fast they were moving people through that line! From the time we hit that parking lot, we were feasting within 5-7 mins. They only serve 2 things - street tacos ($2.50 each) and we later saw that they also serve nachos (not sure what the price is on nachos - but we'd love to try those next time ). They have a wonderful assortment of meats as you can see from my pic: asada (steak), pastor (BBQ pork), carnitas (fried pork), chicharron (spicy pork), cabeza (beef cheek) & pollo (chicken). We got asada, pastor and pollo tacos and they were VERY good. You can get spicy or mild and they come with onions & cilantro. There are 4 or 5 guys cooking and as soon as you tell them what you want they are handing to you - not kidding, lightning fast, hot & fresh! It is artistic how well-oiled their whole business runs and is VERY impressive!! They don't have actual tables (because that would be inefficient). The auto repair shop has installed a pull-down shelf on the parking lot wall that you walk over to once you have your food and it is very efficient and absolutely perfect for this location. Again, this one our most impressive finds and $14 for 5 tacos and a 5 min wait for what looks to be a 30+ min wait is just unheard of. 5 stars all day long!! read more
06/07/26 Sunday Quick pit stop at this food truck for dinner. I got tacos (Asada and Cabeza). I got mild salsa and all the toppings. The salsa was too tart for me. Everything else was on point. Our orders came out pretty quick. They offer standing areas to eat with communal sanitizer and napkins. Cash only. Street parking only. read more
Great little spot on a business with plenty of space and street parking for some late night tacos. Service super fast! First time here. In the heart of Pasadena. This first time at this tacos spot, I would say from a taste point of view the cabeza tacos were good! But the nachos were not to my satisfaction. Not much meat on them, and not enough food for the price. I would give my experience overall rating of 3/5. A bit pricey for the amount of food. read more

The tacos are moist and flavorful! Because this is a taco truck, you're going to end up street parking and standing to eat your food. As of 4/20/25, the tacos are $2.50 each. This seems to be the standard in this area! They gave us lots of options of toppings and sauces, you can even get radishes. read more

Was in the area fairly late and needed something to eat that wasn't super expensive. Since all the fast food restaurants were closed, this was the best option available. Probably ended up being better than my original plan in the end! Ordered four tacos, one each of asada, al pastor, cabeza, and pollo. They were all solid and hit the spot. Definitely nowhere near the best compared to some of the other tacos I have had in L.A. And at $2.50 a taco and cash only, not the best value either considering some of the other taco options in L.A. I guess for Pasadena, this is the city can do. Staff here was very friendly. Be prepared to look for street parking here. read more

Best taco truck in town hands down!! The tacos are flavorful, fresh and not greasy. Service is friendly and fast. Our favorites are the chicken and al pastor, but they have a variety of meats to satisfy everyone's tastebuds. Their agua fresca drinks are delicious too. The line can be long (evidence of how good they are!) but it moves swiftly. Another plus is they are open late and Pasadena doesn't have many spots open late!! Give them a try, you won't be disappointed!! read more
The Hype is Real. These are probably the best tacos in Pasadena. (I've done extensive research). The tacos are on the smaller side, but very delicious! Make sure you get green salsa, it complements the flavors of the meat. The nachos were also delicious. read more

Most delectable tacos with perfectly sautéed meats, fresh veggie toppers, and drinks are out of this world delicious. Staff couldn't be more welcoming and accommodating to all their customers! Don't be intimated with the wait as those long lines will always be there and it moves along swiftly! Can't believe it's taken me this long to take the Los California tacos plunge, I'm sure happy I finally did. This is so worth the hype my friends! Are there gluten free options?
There definitely are...almost all tacos are made corn tortillas and those are gluten free.
Are they open for takeout due to the current events?
According to an Instagram post from 2 days ago, they are temporarily closed.
I just went to the address 10:27pm on a Tuesday and it was empty, what's the dealio?
I have no idea
Did they change from El Taquito Mexicano to Los California Tacos?
Yes! Same guys, different name! I keep meaning to ask them why the change. I know that over 10 years ago they created an actual restaurant that has since moved and still exists with original name, even though their flavors are slightly different.…
