I have been by this taco stand many times and until yesterday I had not tried it. Very well worth the wait. The crew are all very nice and personable, and the whole set-up is done very well. They were busy and I still got my food within just a couple minutes. The Tacos al Pastor are top notch. Al Pastor is one of my favorites and this one is great....tender, juicy and super full of flavor. The Salsa Roja is nice and spicy but also very flavorful. My daughter and I were coming home from a protest the other night. I was too tired to deal with a restaurant and too tired to cook. I've seen this place almost every night since it's around the corner, so we decided to stop. We had asada tacos and pastor tacos and washed them down with Mexican Coke. The tortilla was delicious and the meat was perfect. There are a few stools to sit on if one wants (we did) but this is mostly a to-go place. The best taquerio in town. The family that runs it are so wonderful. Everything is top notch, but I love their hauraches and chingadas. Don't forget to get your avocado salsa. However, if you want something a little different, check out El Jarocho. This family run cart on steroids serves up traditional fare done untraditionally, if that makes any sense. They have a few fusion items that just work. The father & son duo that man the skillets are as friendly as can be. Every time we are there the mood is lively, loads of regulars chatting away with the staff while holding multiple plates of hot off the flattop tacos. Walked up to order with my family and they did not even say hello. Or Hola at least, I asked did they have any "taco Tuesday " deals the guy was rude and said what are you talking about. The tortillas are really soft and fresh and the tacos are very flavorful! We also ordered the taco torta which was my favorite. I stopped at El Jarocho just by chance and it must have been fate. My wife and I had asada and chicken and potato tacos to go. The tacos were so good that I had to go back and double my order. The balance of ingredients was exceptional and even the tortillas were over the top. If you're in the vicinity, do your palate a favor and treat yourself to one of these chicken and potato delights. So glad I stumbled on this place through Yelp! I've been living in Pasadena for a while now and wish I knew about this taco stand earlier. We got 4 different tacos and all were super yummy. My favorite was the asada. We also got a hot dog (a little too saucy for my liking) but perfect for the bf. The taco torta was also so good! My bf said the taco torta was his favorite out of everything we tried, and my fave were the tacos. The horchata was very sweet and very cinnamony if that is up your alley. We got the large but would probably go for the regular size next time. Quick, friendly service and you can see the food prepared right before you. Easy street parking as well. We were in the nearby Home Depot and needed a quick bite on a rainy day. Lovely husband and wife running this small cart/stand. We got 6 tacos for $12. The tortillas had taste unlike some of the ones I've been having. Lots of onions and cilantro. The pollo is with potatoes which I loved. So yummy. Next was the carnitas which was also very good. This review is not based on the taste of their food but rather hygiene and food handling practices. Like I mentioned above, their food is great and this is what brought me to give them a second chance. Some time back I witness the cook flip tortillas and wipe sweat off his forehead with the towel that hangs from his back pocket. It wasn't my order he was cooking so I walked away before I ordered. After a few months, I came back. I have patronize them regularly since but tonight my order was already on the griddle. Understandably, we all sneeze but 'come on', anyone with common sense would cover their mouth. Don't sneeze like you are out in a open field, and especially when you are cooking someone's food! I took the order, $15 worth; didn't say anything but the food went right in the trash. Disgusting! This guy is the "Salt Bae" of taco stands. Hope they read this review so they practice better food handling to prevent foodborne germs. I support street vendors and their hustle and it can be easier to overlook the bad habits above, as well as some others that may seem less obvious. You get what you pay for. Me and my boyfriend decided to give this taco stand a chance, we thought we were solid with the reviews but.... One thing I will say the lady who served us was the sweetest but besides that, the quality of food is very poor. The asada and pastor tacos we ordered were barley put on the grill to cook and for some context it wasn't busy at all, but the time the meat had on the grill was upsetting, like if he doesn't even want the meat to cook properly. We also ordered 2 hotdogs, PLEASE do yourself the favor and don't order the hotdogs! They were so nasty, it was the weenie itself, first bite and I couldn't even swallow, I was right away disgusted.
