Was in the Pasadena area looking for a good lunch spot and found Teddy's Cocina on Yelp. We walked in on a rainy day and it was pretty empty minus one other table. The country music was blastic and the big screens were on. Seems like this would be a fun place to come and watch a game or with a large group. We ordered at the counter and took a seat. First the chips and guacamole came out. I was a little bummed at first to see that the guacamole I ordered was more like a guacamole salsa, but it was really good regardless. I got the bella bowl with chicken and it was really tasty! The ingredients were all super fresh and the chicken had a really nice flavor. It was very filling. My husband enjoyed his tacos and my son enjoyed his quesadilla. Food presentation was on point! Overall, a cute and quick casual spot to get your Mexican food fix!

Really friendly service, clean an open eating area. The food was really good, got the Marlin fish taco which comes with cheese and guacamole. Also got the shrimp taco which was very fresh and delicious. They also give 10% discounts for PCC students (with an ID)! My daughter got a good deal for herself.

I got one of their bowls, which was a delicious! I got the chicken with Peruvian beans, rice, and cabbage! I loved the flavor because it had the perfect amount of saltiness and flavor! I loved how it came with avocado! I had never tried Peruvian beans and I have to say these were delicious! The great part is that they boil the beans so it's much healthier! The service is exceptional! The place is really cute and cozy! I recommend you go try them!

Was waiting for my nephew and suddenly craved nachos. Searched on Yelp and found this place. The photos on Yelp looked yummy. Also, yelpers noted that the nachos were great. Decided to call to place an order. I had a pleasant experience thru the phone. The gal was patience and answered my questions. Advised me that the nachos will be ready in 10 minutes. Yay! Free parking in front. Yay! Opened the box and couldn't help it. It looked so good...Had to take a few bites in the car before heading home lol They provided some sauces on the side, but it wasn't even necessary. The nachos were so yummy already. My mom thought it was delicious as well. Usually, she doesnt like beans in nachos or burritos. However, she didnt complain at all about the nachos. In fact, it was so good that she wanted to dine in lol Will be back =)

    Potato Tacos

Best potato tacos I have ever eaten in my life hands down. Instead of fried potatoes, they put mashed potatoes inside a taco (more like an empanada) and fry it so the outside is crispy with warm soft mashed potatoes inside. Horchata is a must - they make it really good here. Since I moved to California I have tried many tacos, but this is the place I always come back to. Staff is friendly and nice and they play great music inside. Be careful of the pineapple salsa if you can't tolerate spice because it's hot.

convenient mexican restaurant located across from pasadena city college campus. offers 10% off discount for students. they bring plates to you after you order and clean up afterwards. nice service and has a steady flow of customers even up to 8 or 9 pm. tacos are a bit overpriced but it is expected considering area. california tacos were the best. would get those again.

Shrimp taco and Tacochino (Asada, Grilled Cheese, Asian Slaw, Pico de gallo, and a slice of avocado). Tasty.

A great little find. I got a shrimp taco and Tacochino (Asada, Grilled Cheese, Asian Slaw, Pico de gallo, and a slice of avocado) Both were really tasty. I ate there because it had a nice vibe and the man behind the counter, who brought the food out, was really nice. I'll have to go back when I a little more hungry to try out one of those large burritos, and with some friends to help me conquer some nachos.

Still one of the best taco places in Pasadena with their mulitas, burritos, tacos and nachos. Some of the best Birria tacos around. Also beer and margaritas and great guacamole sauce! TVs for sports and parking in the rear. Still reasonably priced! PCC students get 10% off. Three types of salsa. Churros too!

It's Taco Tuesday! Teddy was in the house tonight. Located directly across from Pasadena City College, there was ample parking on the street. Teddy's Cocina specializes in fresh, specialty tacos to enlighten your taste buds. I have tried their sister location in City of Industry! I am a fan of their quality. I paid a visit to get the deal of the week: 2 Street Tacos for $5.25. Ordered the Asada, Al Pastor, and Carnitas. Highly recommend the Asada and Al Pastor! The meat was flavorful with onions and cilantro. Don't forget the mango salsa and green salsa. The spice level definitely has a kick and complements the Tacos well. Support this local family-owned establishment :)

I cannot stress enough how the Mahi nachos are the best dinner of all time. If had a bad day at work or if I just want to celebrate the weekend with food - these are my go-to. Service is also great, Teddy is usually taking orders and he's super friendly. He remembers my order, recalled that I brought my patents to enjoy the delicious food, just hands down the best Mexican food in Pasadena in my opinion.

Teddy's Cocina has become a very popular Mexican spot. They have streamlined the ordering process and there is helpful and friendly service from everyone there. All the recipes are family originals. The menu has many combinations available. They have specials available daily. They have a selection of draught beers and NA beverages. Plenty of seating in an open layout with counter seating near the kitchen. Customers include PCC students and neighborhood and business folks. Teddy's has become a destination because of the quality of food and service. I enjoy the street tacos, maximo quesadilla, and carne asada or chicken burrito. The flavors are bright with just enough spice. They offer a selection of salsas. PS, order the warm chips with guacamole.

My new fav! Employees are always kind & attentive. Right across from PCC and they offer a little discount for student! (not sure if it's all students or just PCC tho). The red tacos are super similar to quesabirrias but made with barbacoa...fireee. Comes with consume and limes just amazing.

The only complaints were the fries totally lacked flavor and I guess they were out of cheesecake and I wasn't even offered a replacement option, just given rice pudding. It was ok, I don't mind it but the cheesecake was part of my choice in ordering from here and I would've done the churros next if I was offered a choice. The fries were just there. They were beyond bland and idk maybe that's the intent when the sando packs such a punch. I dipped a couple in consommé before deciding they were just extra carbs and I wasn't feeling it. I did get a giant onion skin that first bite of sando as well. The salsas were a little too much for my weak palate. But the taco and sando! Outta this world! Both meats were tender, and delicious. I would absolutely order both again, the consommé is the perfect sidekick to both. Still bummed about the cheesecake. The idea of it sounds amazing. But delicious foods nonetheless.

If I see "salsa" I'm thinking house salsa. Let's be specific~ Speaking of salsa, I ordered salsa verde and got something more like salsa amarillo? It's the blandest salsa ever. I could get more out of a sauce packet tbh. I don't know if the water down their salsas maybe? Of the (probably) many watered down items served here, this horchata has at least 3x more water than flavor. Also don't know how you can water down the flavor of meat but add that to the list too. I will say texture on the meat is good like I know it's not over or undercooked, but I taste next to nothing. Also received the most solid as a rock limes ever. Confused how that even came to be. This place is full of shiny gimmicks with no substance. If you're looking for good mexican food look elsewhere. It's southern california, you've got options.

My coworker and I went all in on the birria lineup, because the whole office was talking about birria so we grabbed the Birria Papas (w added guacamole) and Birria Tacos. The papas came out swinging: legit hand-cut fries piled high like they had something to prove. Messy, loaded, and worth every napkin. The tacos were a little on the petite side, like "did I accidentally order the sample version?" but still tasty enough to keep me from complaining too loudly. Now let's talk about the secret hot sauce. First of all, why is it secret?!?!? 2nd of all, I get it. That stuff is not playing around. One bite and my mouth was on fire!!! If you like heat that punches back, this is your moment!! The spot itself is super clean, the staff is genuinely nice (not the fake "have a nice day" nice), and everything just felt easy and welcoming. Prices won't make your wallet cry either, which is always a bonus, esp how expensive everything is these days!! Only downside, the parking is a bit of a game of luck. We got there early and snagged a spot, but otherwise, you might want to park across the street and pretend it was your plan all along. Overall: great food, spicy surprises, and zero regrets!!! Would absolutely go back. Make sure to ask for the "secret hot sauce" you won't regret it!!!

Lots of seating, lots of parking( lot in the back). From the design and thought put into the decor, menu and all the other options (like candy, liquor, beer and wine) you get, it's pretty amazing. We ordered a plethora of items to see what would be our favorite. I gotta say it was pretty much everything. Super polite staff and the flavors of the food made you feel good. You're truly in for a treat. Asada burrito super bomb, great flavor decent size and for the price it's great. See I like to eat(like you!) so I wouldn't have minded if it was tad bit bigger and tad bit heavier. But flavor was super delicious. Crunchy potato tacos, like finger food, once I saw someone else's tacos I was like uh oh I'm gonna need a lot more tacos. Except we stuck to ordering a few items to just see how it goes. And yeah, like I said tacos are SMALL. Like baby size. Not normal if you ask me but to each their own I guess. Birria cup lacked meat, but the flavor was amazing, you get 3 baby sized corn tortillas and that's pretty much it. You would expect more meat but after looking at the taco sizes yeah. You ain't getting anymore! So order more! Asada fries as well, portion wise could have been more giving. Loved the house made fries, great touch. Or atleast I am assuming they are house made, tasted very fresh cut if you know what I mean. Except the portion is tiny, like everything else. So if anyone is understanding my lingo is that Madre Maiz doesn't really put out large portions, which makes you want to order more and spend more. Then again they have their flavor to compensate for the quantity? Last can't leave out the guacamole, fresh and delicious with the bag of chips. Now that food portion has been expressed, let's talk about the meat being slightly on the dryer side. Soft but definitely dryer than majority of the taquerias I have been too. The asada 100% was dry and lacked any form of juiciness. Flavor was there but just dry. 100% needed sauce. The red sauce was chipotle based, the orange was habanero, and the green was cilantro/maybe avocado based(no heat in the green). Every bit of sauce helped every bite. Was it worth trying and reviewing? Yes. Will I ever go back? 100% cause that burrito was pretty good. For 12-13 bucks it's not bad at all, might need two. Beautiful decor, and plenty of seating outside and limited on the inside.
