Me and a coworker stopped by for the first time last week for lunch. They have a cool mural on the side of the restaurant. So we decided to take pics before going in. The so called owner comes out saying "what are you guys doing?" Me: "taking pics. Is that allowed?" Her: (condescending tone) "yea I just wanted to know what was going on cause I saw you guys taking pics." A weird response? Like are you not used to business? And then she stayed there standing right beside us and monitoring until we finished taking pics. So weird and cringe. Only went inside cause we were already there and short on lunch time. The lady at the register was extremely nice though. So this is not an attack on the staff working the kitchen or in the front. But I won't be coming back solely because of the experience with the owner. It was just unnecessary and rude. read more

We got take out one week night when we realized we had no food in the fridge to cook for dinner. I called in an order right before they closed and ordered both the grilled and fried fish tacos to go. Street parking was available just north of the restaurant on Allen by the church. This place is immaculately clean. Probably the cleanest commercial kitchen I've seen. The staff cooked my fish fresh in front of me so everything was made to order. They stayed late to finish up my order which was really nice of them. The tacos were okay - doesn't match up to a San Diego fish taco my husband was craving which is an unfair standard. Went with my boyfriend and the whole place was empty. The two ladies working were not friendly to either of us and the one at register never made eye contact with me and only spoke to my boyfriend. I work in hospitality and I understand when it's busy or when people have an off day, but the customer service was not welcoming at all. My tacos were dry and the salsa was bland. My boyfriend, who is basically a raccoon and eats anything, who loves burritos, didn't like his food and didn't finish his burrito, not even half, which I have never seen him do. Overall a very disappointing experience as we live in the neighborhood and wanted to support the local businesses and find more spots to frequent regularly in our area. read more

Street parking was easy and it's free. I think this place is cute and looks very clean. The service was wonderful. I loved the woman making the food. The guy taking my order was also kind. I ordered a shrimp burrito and with $1 tip it was $18.58. The shrimp burrito looked full and was packed with fun ingredients. Shrimp, Peppers, onions, guac and sour cream. They served a red and green salsa with my shrimp burrito and I enjoyed the green salsa most with my burrito. My 1 and only wish was that the quality of the shrimp was better. Some of the shrimp is deveined, not all. 95% of my shrimp and burrito were delicious and the other 2 bites not so much. I would try other items here and maybe even try the shrimp burrito again one day to see if it was a one off or just the way it is. There were a few people in here eating and all their food looked great, must have tasted great too as they ate it all. Friendly staff said thank you and wishes everyone good day. I don't have much to say except I had the quesadilla with barbacoa and it was amazing.

I love my Tacos Poncitlan so much that when I moved back, it was the first place I ordered from. I love Mexican food and every time I want tacos, carne asada, or it's a moon, I can count on Tacos Poncitlan to take care of me. I have tried almost the entire menu. The potato tacos chefs kiss. The chicharon sent me to hell with a smile on my face. The chilaquiles have become the chilaquiles for me which is difficult because I'm always looking for the one. The tacos are perfectly portioned, meat seasoned well. Salsa is just the right amount to make you cry, sweat, and feel high. The Jamaica, the horchata, the Mexican coke. Yum yum yum. The quiet neighborhood, ample street parking, and amazing staff who will cook your order once you place it just make this the perfect spot to go to every day. Except Sunday. Stopped by the other day for lunch, saw that it was a new spot on yelps - hot and new in Pasadena. Nice little spot on the corner, luckily found some street parking . Small store with both indoor/outdoor seating. Not sure what to order so I decided to grab a couple tacos - I got one of each : cabeza, asada and a fried fish taco. The service was kinda slow it was pretty busy for lunch. They ended up giving me 2 fish tacos and a asada tacos ? I guess that's okay because I was hungry. Asada taco - was kinda dry not much flavor on the meat itself. 3/5 Fish tacos - they were breaded -- differently than those from Ensenada. Tasted healthy still kinda dry. For me if I was going to just get tacos I would probably pass on this spot. The food while was good was kinda dry the sauce really saved it. We had to get a to go box since we ate half. Breakfast burrito Rating: 5/5 Non-greasy burrito. We got the bacon breakfast burrito. Good portion and very tasty. Not very salty and lots of flavor. The salsa and chips on the side were a good addition. Service was very friendly but slightly slow. But this is a family restaurant so I expected them to take their time with the food. This is my family's absolute favorite taco spot in Pasadena! Whenever I'm craving tacos, I head to Tacos Poncitlan. 1) Food: I always get a classic taco plate with 3 tacos, rice and beans. The tortillas, meats, and salsas are incredible. 2) Service: they're super friendly and the food comes out pretty fast! This spot is the perfect mix of casual, hole in the wall, family business with delicious food. Was craving tacos in Pasadena and decided to try Tacos Poncitlan after a promising yelp rating. Left with our tummies full and satisfied by the generous portions and friendly staff. I got two tacos de carne asada, one taco de lengua and their homemade jamaica. The lengua was sooo juicy and tender - was absolutely the star of the show for me. The tacos de asada were dry and lacked flavor IMO, would not recommend. Their jamaica was super refreshing, light, and had the perfect sweetness to it. My boyfriend got the nachos. We both absolutely loved them. They were super filling, a generous serving, and had some delicious guacamole to top it all off. Has both inside and outside seating - inside was super clean and the ladies were playing fun music. It was fine. Expected a great experience because of the reviews. We went for my lady's birthday. She ordered chilaquiles with eggs and adobada and I ordered a couple adobada tacos. I can't speak for the other food here, but the adobada was dry as hell. The chilaquiles had good flavor, but the adobada kinda ruined it. Same with the tacos. We passed by the place which is located on thecornet of Allen and Queensberry Road.. it had no name but is white with letters on the side of the building. It is a small,clean location with a few tables inside, it was cool inside which is good because it is hot outdide! I ordered the shrimp burrito which to my surprise was filled with shrimp!!! Other places put maybe 3 pieces but this was packed!!! I was given two chili sauces red and green both of which had a good flavor. I saw they had chilaquiles and I had to go try them out. I'm very picky with the way I like mine done and I was very happy. I've been to places where it's just the chips with salsa on top. And I've also had very soggy chips. These were just right. Great portion with beans and rice too. Whole dish reminded me of when I visit my family in Jalisco. Service was 10/10. Ambiance is nice too. Finally got the opportunity to check this place out the other day and was really glad I did very cute space. I think it was recently remodeled and the tacos were absolutely amazing Different from other taco spots. I would say the best parts of these were the tortillas and the meat. I actually was in a huge fan of the salsas to be honest, but the tacos were extremely flavorful and great without them Adobada and pastor were my two favorite, but all the flavors overall work great read more
