I visited Guisados last Sunday after a run with the Run Culture group, and I can't say enough good things about this place. They were incredibly kind and supportive of our running event allowing us to use their parking lot, providing water, and letting all the runners use their restrooms. That level of hospitality really stood out. After the run, my husband, friends, and I stayed to eat and support the business and wow, we're so glad we did. The tacos were absolutely delicious! We tried the tinga, nopales, bistec en salsa roja, mole, cochinita pibil, and a chile relleno burrito... everything was full of flavor and so well prepared. The drinks were just as good the horchata and jamaica were refreshing and perfect after a run. The coffee line was long, which must mean it's popular we'll definitely try it next time! The restaurant is very clean, including the restrooms, and the staff is genuinely friendly and welcoming. There's also a decent-sized parking lot, which is always a plus in Pasadena. I loved it so much... I actually came back yesterday for more tacos Highly recommend this spot not just for the amazing food, but for the great service and community support. I really wanted to like this place, but unfortunately the tacos just weren't for me. I ordered two cochinita pibil tacos, and aside from being very soggy, they had way too much salsa poured on top, which overpowered everything else. I also tried the chorizo taco, and it didn't meet my expectations--it tasted pretty basic, more like store-bought chorizo than something fresh or flavorful. On a positive note, the restaurant itself was quiet and not very crowded, although there seemed to be a steady flow of to-go orders. The service was fast and friendly, which I appreciated. Jesus was the man. He really took extensive time explaining many of the items, how they are cooked, and what flavors go into them. My wife and I tried 6 tacos total, before going back to try 2 more. They were that good and all are filled with flavor. My favorite was the chicken tinga and my wife's was the chorizo, but everything was great and slow roasted. Heads up, if you get a taco where you can pick your heat level, go 2 levels lower than what you plan on getting. The levels go up to 10, but 3 is considered medium. I got 5 and even that burned my mouth off, I was crying. The agua frescas were super fresh and refreshing. The pan dulce also extremely soft and fresh - they bake them in house daily! Overall, Guisados was a really nice surprise. Great food, nice relaxing seating. Easy & free parking. The entire service from Jesus, the other staff members behind the counter, and the bussers were very friendly and felt happy talking to us. Now I'm from SF and because we have our fair share of premier taquerias, I can confidently say, I'll let you know if it's any good. So yeah, yeah, yeah, Guisados is,in fact, super legit good / bordering on amazing / maybe hinting at spectacular. Ordered the OG sampler, a shrimp taco, and melon aqua fresca. Can we first start off with how outstanding their corn tortillas are? These freshly homemade stewards of goodness almost stole the show. almost . . . Now I'm not going to go into great detail about the pork, or the chicken, or the beef tacos, or shrimp taco (that I basically inhaled), but I will say this much : when you needn't want, or really need, any additional salsa to dress your tacos, what you have before you is some very finely crafted delicacies that should be momentarily marveled at then devoured. Melon aqua fresca was cool and refreshing. Service was friendly. The place itself is very inviting and cozy. My two regrets are that 1) I didn't order another sampler plate for there and 2) not ordering two additional sampler plates to take back home. Ordered Doordash and it arrived pretty fast ~30 min! Got the Sampler ($13.25) and had the option to pick 6 different tacos! My 6 options were: Steak Picado, Bistek Roja, Mole, Tinga, Cochinita, and Chorizo. The tacos were pretty cold and dry when I got them so I was pretty disappointed. Honestly, it was hard to distinguish the flavors because they were all so salty! I really wanted to have a favorite but they all tasted the same to me. They were all pretty small and super greasy! Overall, I was pretty disappointed and none of the tacos stood out to me so this was 5/10 The Horchata was ok and nothing special. I've had Guisados a few times now and really enjoy their tacos, ceviche tostadas, and refreshing drinks--especially the agua frescas. The horchata is delicious, though a bit too sweet for my taste. I haven't tried enough to pick a single favorite taco yet, but I really like the bistek, tinga, and seafood options. Their ceviche tostada is always a standout for me--fresh and flavorful every time. It has been a while since I been to Guisados, as I used to go to the downtown location pre COVID a couple times. I decided to go the past weekend to the Pasadena location, and it was worth the drive! I went up to the counter to order my tacos, and the person taking my order was nice. I got the pescado, steak picado, and mole poblano, and it was all delicious! The tortillas are also hand made, and I always love a fresh tortilla. Yes, it's a bit pricey for tacos, from $4-$5, but it's pretty damn good in quality and flavor. Great tacos! And tried the strawberry horchata, so bomb. We were in a rush when stopping here but so hungry after getting off the freeway luckily this is not too far into town right on arroyo parkway. Parking was limited but the restaurant had steady volume of customers which was a good sign. We had to eat them in the parking lot since we had to leave quickly and I'm not sure photos could do justice for these tacos! I ordered a fish taco and husband ordered 3 bistek en salsa Roja. Okay so first of all, the home made tortillas make these tacos stand out, i absolutely love the tortillas. We watched one of the workers make them right in front of us. The tacos were delicious the salsa was not too spicy and the braised meat had so much flavor. I enjoyed the refreshing taste of the fish taco. And the strawberry horchata was very sweet. Giving 4 stars because I felt that the customer service could have been a little more inviting but again we were in a rush and had a few too many questions regarding the menu and what to order. This place is an absolute staple for a reason. I love how small the tacos are so you can eat try lots of them without being too stuffed. The tinga de pollo was SPICY (for my white self, my husband said it was barely hotter than mild), and my favorite of the sampler plate was steak picado. The pumpkin horchata was delicious too, I love that it's just horchata with actual pumpkin puree. For tacos, they're some of the most expensive I've had in the area, but for good reason. Their ingredients are very fresh, and portions are large that the contents would be spilling out of the tortilla! So, it gets pretty messy. I got the steak picado, chicharron, and camarones (shrimp). Out of the three, the steak was my favorite, mainly because of how juicy the beef was. I would have enjoyed the camarones more if it didn't have so much bell pepper, but I liked that the shrimp pieces were large and fresh. Their tacos don't come with alot of the typical toppings like onions or cilantro. I even asked if they had any because I like my tacos tasting more herbal to balance out the spices and the sauces. So, you can't really customize the flavor of your taco. Because of that, and the price, I don't see myself come here often. read more

You order and pay at the front and sit wherever you want like McDonald's. Got the mini taco sampler for $11.95. They were good and full of flavor. We also got their special of the day which was ceviche for $4.95. The ceviche was delicious. Also ordered the regular size chicharrón taco for $4.25. The flavor was good. Was confused with where the chopped cilantro and onions were. Asked the staff and they said they don't offered chopped cilantro and onions for their tacos. My guest enjoyed the horchata. It's been a minute since I been to the OG spot in Eastlos, but this is the first time I went to this location here. The quality is about the same I'd say, and so are the prices, which are pretty steep for tacos. Ordered their bistek, mole, chorizo, and chicharron. I liked them in that order. The bistek was terrific. Chorizo I could've probably did without as it had a couple of really hard pieces of pork that stung my teeth a little. The best part of all their tacos are the freshly made tortillas. Really good. Food took a lot longer than normal. Like 20 minutes for these tacos. But well worth the wait. read more

Tamales are dry, but the tacos are amazing. Horchata is also refreshing. They have shaded outdoor seating and indoor seating. Street nearby is busy so can be a little loud for outdoor seating. The inside can get a little loud too. You order at the cash register and they bring food to your table. I always tell out of town friends that this is a must and they always thank me. I thought all the meats on the OG platter were really salty & some were way too spicy (& salty) to handle. The vegetarian was mild enough for my vegetarian aunt. But the tamales were a crime...they were dry and 92-95% dry masa...the filling was barely there. The only good things were the fish tacos. Flavors are perfectly balanced with the crema soothing the slight spiciness of the pico on top. The beans underneath gave a hearty finish to the bite. Always a plus when the service is great. The agua Fresca were the best! Horchata had the perfect amount of cinnamon and the Límon was so fresh! The food tasted home made and not at all greasy like typical Mexican takeout. Especially the tortillas, both soft and flour were house made and you can tell the difference. Always a favorite place to go with the family ever since we went to the Boyle Heights location. I am so happy that this family run business is still churning out quality tacos that make you want to go back for more. Freshest handmade toritillas on site, friendliest and most helpful staff, and quality tacos/ceviche/tamales you can count on to be consistent. We haven't tried breakfast yet, but I'm sure we will make it one day. The vegan tacos are out of this world: vegan peppers and vegan medley are sure to please any eater. Guisados has been on my list for forever, so I was so excited to stop by when I happened to be nearby on a random afternoon. This location has plenty of parking spots in its own little lot, so it was easy to grab one. There's also plenty of free 1 hour street parking nearby. I ordered the Jamaica agua Fresca and the taco sampler so I could try (almost) all the different tacos. The Jamaica is delicious! Super refreshing on a hot and sweaty day. A little bit sweet for me but I'm positive that's exactly how Jamaica is supposed to be . The taco sampler was yummy! None of the tacos particularly stood out to me, but what did was the tortillas!! Sooo good - super soft and yet chewy. The most amazing part was that even though the tacos were super saucy (and they're supposed to be bc they're guisado style), the tortillas didn't get soggy. They serve fresh yellow corn tortillas for the tacos, which are great, but they could use just a little more salt or something to really make them pop. I love their tacos overall, but every location is a little different. Personally, I like the Burbank location the best. Service is great at both locations.
