ordered 5 different types of tacos to go... nothing is labeled... it's a guessing game
Delfin T.

Ordered 5 different tacos to go... bistek roja, cochinita pibil, pescado, steak picado & tinga de pollo. Food came badly wrapped... and without any labels. We had to open each item & guess what it is. We've eaten there before and the food is not bad, and after this experience, I will only eat at the restaurant because whoever packs the food is horrible.

Ordered Doordash and it arrived pretty fast ~30 min! Got the Sampler ($13.25) and had the option to pick 6 different tacos! My 6 options were: Steak Picado, Bistek Roja, Mole, Tinga, Cochinita, and Chorizo. The tacos were pretty cold and dry when I got them so I was pretty disappointed. Honestly, it was hard to distinguish the flavors because they were all so salty! I really wanted to have a favorite but they all tasted the same to me. They were all pretty small and super greasy! Overall, I was pretty disappointed and none of the tacos stood out to me so this was 5/10 The Horchata was ok and nothing special. A little too sweet and it tasted pretty artificial flavored so this was 5/10 Most likely won't recommend or reorder unfortunately.

I love their fresh handmade corn tortillas! Their service was friendly and fast. Clean restaurant with fun ambiance. Their horchata is delicious and their fish taco and ceviche tostada was amazing! My group noted their food was not too hot (temperature-wise). I'm not sure why some places don't list their prices. It matters in my decision making.

I've had Guisados a few times now and really enjoy their tacos, ceviche tostadas, and refreshing drinks--especially the agua frescas. The horchata is delicious, though a bit too sweet for my taste. I haven't tried enough to pick a single favorite taco yet, but I really like the bistek, tinga, and seafood options. Their ceviche tostada is always a standout for me--fresh and flavorful every time. The space is a bit rustic, but I love that it's spacious with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, a large parking lot, and it's kept clean. Definitely a spot I'll be coming back to!

Food was ready really quick and the women at the counter greeted me and made sure I was served quickly! Food was so good probably the best tacos I've ever had seriously!! The plate was so nice the taco sampler laid out was fantastic each taco was mouth watering and had an explosion for flavors!

It has been a while since I been to Guisados, as I used to go to the downtown location pre COVID a couple times. I decided to go the past weekend to the Pasadena location, and it was worth the drive! I went up to the counter to order my tacos, and the person taking my order was nice. I got the pescado, steak picado, and mole poblano, and it was all delicious! The tortillas are also hand made, and I always love a fresh tortilla. Yes, it's a bit pricey for tacos, from $4-$5, but it's pretty damn good in quality and flavor. I also saw they have tamales, which I would like to try some other time. Guisados is still a winner in my book.

Service was really nice, but I thought the quality of the food was just all right and we paid $80 with tax for the amount you see on the table which I think is very expensive. I did really enjoy how spicy it is, but that's about it.

Delicious, fresh, made to order tacos! The ceviche was fresh and yummy. The tortillas are heated and made to order and you can watch them make them which is cool. The staff was friendly and helpful as we decided what to order. The place has enough space for a small group (we were a group of 6). The shrimp fajita taco was probably my favorite. Definitely worth checking them out !

Great tacos! And tried the strawberry horchata, so bomb. We were in a rush when stopping here but so hungry after getting off the freeway luckily this is not too far into town right on arroyo parkway. Parking was limited but the restaurant had steady volume of customers which was a good sign. We had to eat them in the parking lot since we had to leave quickly and I'm not sure photos could do justice for these tacos! I ordered a fish taco and husband ordered 3 bistek en salsa Roja. Okay so first of all, the home made tortillas make these tacos stand out, i absolutely love the tortillas. We watched one of the workers make them right in front of us. The tacos were delicious the salsa was not too spicy and the braised meat had so much flavor. I enjoyed the refreshing taste of the fish taco. And the strawberry horchata was very sweet. Giving 4 stars because I felt that the customer service could have been a little more inviting but again we were in a rush and had a few too many questions regarding the menu and what to order. Will be back to try more on the menu and definitely recommend.

This place is an absolute staple for a reason. I love how small the tacos are so you can eat try lots of them without being too stuffed. The tinga de pollo was SPICY (for my white self, my husband said it was barely hotter than mild), and my favorite of the sampler plate was steak picado. The pumpkin horchata was delicious too, I love that it's just horchata with actual pumpkin puree. We sat on the patio with our dog and someone brought the food out to us which was so nice, great service great location overall.

Delicious black beans! My fave

BEAN meaning to try their BEANS! And it did not disappoint! I got a bacon breakfast burrito too and it was very very bacony! I might go veggie the next time so I don't have a heard attack by the time I get to the car.

Bistek Bistek en Salsa Roja with delicious rendered down juices that will make you sink into your chair with satisfaction!

Guisados continues to light up our taste buds with incredible dishes that pack a punch! My wife and I stopped in today for lunch. In running down our list of places to eat, Guisados is always a resounding "YES!". The ambience is always comfortable with indoor and outdoor patio seating and the staff is always wonderful! Parking in the back is also usually easy. Today I ordered the Bistek tacos with a Cheese & Jalapeño Tamale topped with a perfectly soft, fried egg! I was so delighted by the perfect egg!! It ran down into my cheesy, flavorful tamale with the tender jalapeño...heaven! The juices from the Bistek taco has a delicious rendered down, deep flavor that is both hearty and satisfying. See you guys next week!

Amazing food, quality and service! Didn't realize there was such a close Guisados. Came on a Sunday morning. My SO and I ordered a breakfast burrito, two Cochinita pebil tacos and a quesadilla con chorizo. Everything was delicious and so filling. The staff were so friendly and it was such a great Sunday morning vibe. Also, free parking is always such a plus.

Ask the Community - Guisados

This restaurant serves kosher food?

No, it's a Mexican restaurant with much of the food mixing milk products with meat, i.e., pork, chicken, beef, etc. Guisados is not a good choice for kosher foods, yet it is one for pure deliciousness!

Do you sell your corn tortillas for people to take home?

Do they serve beer?

yes!!!

Can you ask for no cheese or cream (i.e. dairy-free)?

Yes

Are the corn tortillas non GMO?

Yeah and cage free too

Do tamales have lard? Or are they vegetarian?

I recently asked them, they told me all their tamales have lard in the masa except the elote tamales which are made with butter.

Open for dine-in yet?

Yes

This is a must try off of lake in Pasadena…read more Reliably good food every time I have been here. Chips and salsa with WARM chips. A to die for pork tomahawk. Amazing happy hour and I highly recommend the dos gringos. Every detail of that dish is made with thought and precision down to the proportions given and the wonderful crisp on the tortilla. Amazing deal! Be careful when ordering sparkling water because they'll bring you an overpriced bottle of sparkling water instead of just their fountain soda water without asking for clarification. I've made that mistake a couple times. Otherwise, I highly recommend Mercado; you can't really go wrong.

Their patio is nestled in a small little mall complex, and therefore is a bit more quiet and relaxing than the bustling Lake Ave in Pasadena. We went on a perfect weather day, and most people opted to sit outside instead of inside the store. We sat inside since we had a sleeping baby in a stroller, and was surprised to find there are a few others doing the same with a stroller also! Plenty of space for all of us too. Between the 3 adults, we had ordered 2 main dishes and 1 ceviche to share. It was the perfect amount of food and I'm glad we weren't overzealous and ordered 3 mains as it would've been too much. We got a mole enchilada, ceviche tropical, and the carnitas chilaquiles. everything tasted amazing and it was the perfect dish to introduce my parents to the unique mole flavor. staff members were very friendly and super accommodating, glad we ventured out to Mercado!

My coworker and I went all in on the birria lineup, because the whole office was talking about birria so we grabbed the Birria Papas (w added guacamole) and Birria Tacos. The papas came out swinging: legit hand-cut fries piled high like they had something to prove. Messy, loaded, and worth every napkin. The tacos were a little on the petite side, like "did I accidentally order the sample version?" but still tasty enough to keep me from complaining too loudly. Now let's talk about the secret hot sauce. First of all, why is it secret?!?!? 2nd of all, I get it. That stuff is not playing around. One bite and my mouth was on fire!!! If you like heat that punches back, this is your moment!! The spot itself is super clean, the staff is genuinely nice (not the fake "have a nice day" nice), and everything just felt easy and welcoming. Prices won't make your wallet cry either, which is always a bonus, esp how expensive everything is these days!! Only downside, the parking is a bit of a game of luck. We got there early and snagged a spot, but otherwise, you might want to park across the street and pretend it was your plan all along. Overall: great food, spicy surprises, and zero regrets!!! Would absolutely go back. Make sure to ask for the "secret hot sauce" you won't regret it!!!

Alright, so I gotta say food is pretty darn good. Just few things I can say that need improvement…read morebut all in all great flavors and service. Lots of seating, lots of parking( lot in the back). From the design and thought put into the decor, menu and all the other options (like candy, liquor, beer and wine) you get, it's pretty amazing. We ordered a plethora of items to see what would be our favorite. I gotta say it was pretty much everything. Super polite staff and the flavors of the food made you feel good. You're truly in for a treat. Asada burrito super bomb, great flavor decent size and for the price it's great. See I like to eat(like you!) so I wouldn't have minded if it was tad bit bigger and tad bit heavier. But flavor was super delicious. Crunchy potato tacos, like finger food, once I saw someone else's tacos I was like uh oh I'm gonna need a lot more tacos. Except we stuck to ordering a few items to just see how it goes. And yeah, like I said tacos are SMALL. Like baby size. Not normal if you ask me but to each their own I guess. Birria cup lacked meat, but the flavor was amazing, you get 3 baby sized corn tortillas and that's pretty much it. You would expect more meat but after looking at the taco sizes yeah. You ain't getting anymore! So order more! Asada fries as well, portion wise could have been more giving. Loved the house made fries, great touch. Or atleast I am assuming they are house made, tasted very fresh cut if you know what I mean. Except the portion is tiny, like everything else. So if anyone is understanding my lingo is that Madre Maiz doesn't really put out large portions, which makes you want to order more and spend more. Then again they have their flavor to compensate for the quantity? Last can't leave out the guacamole, fresh and delicious with the bag of chips. Now that food portion has been expressed, let's talk about the meat being slightly on the dryer side. Soft but definitely dryer than majority of the taquerias I have been too. The asada 100% was dry and lacked any form of juiciness. Flavor was there but just dry. 100% needed sauce. The red sauce was chipotle based, the orange was habanero, and the green was cilantro/maybe avocado based(no heat in the green). Every bit of sauce helped every bite. Was it worth trying and reviewing? Yes. Will I ever go back? 100% cause that burrito was pretty good. For 12-13 bucks it's not bad at all, might need two. Beautiful decor, and plenty of seating outside and limited on the inside.

We got the plate of chile relleno with a beef enchilada, the mole plate and a kids quesadilla with rice and beans. 1. The chile in the chile relleno was soooo tiny, the battered egg was big and fluffy which is why it looks big. The rice was crunchy and had pieces of overcooked rice. The beef on the enchilada was on top of the enchilada NOT inside and it tasted like boiled beef with no flavor! I put it to the side. The inside just had a bit of shredded marble cheese. So disappointed. The beans were ok, restaurant quality, canned flavored. 2. The mole was very sweet and although that's not a bad thing, it still didn't have any kind of authenticity in the flavor it was as though it was just packaged sauce dumped on the chicken. 3. The kids quesadilla has bellpeppers and onions inside! Which was not disclosed on the menu. My kid likes bellpeppers but not the green ones and not in her quesadillas... come on. I had to pick them off. Over all I'm glad I live far away from here because it was really bad quality food. The service was nice and attentive. The ambiance was empty and almost abandoned... and I even went on a weekend.
