best crunchy tripas tacos in the area
    Natalia J.

This place stays serving. This has been the go-to taco spot since high school. They've catered multiple birthday parties for me and it tempts me every time I pass the Rosemead exit on the 210 freeway. The workers are all so nice, there's always plenty of onions, cilantro, and salsa, and they'll give you a plate of cebollas y jalapeños with your tacos if you ask nicely. Fantastic spot, love their pickled onions here more than every other place and they have the best crispy tripas tacos outside of Mexico.

Another great food truck in my area. I'm covered in both ends of Rosemead Blvd. And this is yet another staple. Their tacos and burritos are good and hey can't go wrong with Mexican Coke

Normal Al Pastor from same place later

They gave me OLD AL PASTOR MEAT. When he first gave me the nasty tacos from the picture with 5 tacos, I asked him if they were the same Al Pastor tacos from the spitfire outside cooking, and he said yes they're the same. Tried them, tasted like shit. I came back 30 minutes later to buy a single taco to see what everyone else is getting. I confronted him about it And he admitted it wasn't the same Al Pastor meat. This place is hit or miss and when they miss it's because they're doing you dirty. Just be straight up

They didn't have the spit for the Al pastor. But the Al pastor burrito was still yummy yum. Their green salsa is made with Serrano chiles. The burrito is a good size when you get it with everything. I skipped the rice and my burrito was smaller. I did ask for extra onions and pico. They give you other sizes and the grilled onions was a nice surprise.

Inside carnitas burrito (no beans). Super flavorful.

Good things happen when you do good things.... I went to Staples on Colorado and Rosemead to return an online order for the GF and when I walked out of the store, I noticed a yellow food truck so I had to go check it out. It looked legit as I've eaten at quite a few food trucks. I asked the one patron at the truck about the food and he said he's a regular and that all the food is good. And, they are normally parked a bit further down the street in front the carwash yet were parked in eyesite for me leaving Staples so it was fate. And, I broke my own rules where a carne asada burrito is the first food item on a Mexican menu to try and I got a carnitas burrito instead (no beans). I guess rules are meant to be broken because that was some good carnitas and the rice was also really good with not only flavor but they cooked it right so each grain of rice bursts. Check out my pics. It's not too far from base camp and they open late so I can see coming back to get the carne asada burrito next...

Ordered the Asada Quesadilla, One Al Pastor, One Pollo to mix it up. Quesadilla $10.00 Tacos $2.50 Nachos $8.00 The cucumber and red onions are so good on top of the food. The Salsa Bar changed a little bit. They now have the salsa in the squirt bottles in ice. Still all you want lemons, onions, cilantro, radish, and cucumbers. Place does get busy as the the night proceeds but a decent taco joint in a Car Wash.

This is one of 3 reviews, that will have the same introduction! I decided to do my own version of a "taco crawl" and tested out 3 taco trucks I've driven by and have been wanting to try out! All 3 are in the SGV, and I'm SO glad to have tried them! This was on a week night, so it wasn't crowded, though I've driven by when it has been, and it always looked very popular. The name is a bit confusing though, I'll admit - I expected everything to be chicken, but it isn't! They had chicken of course, but there were many other items, including BREAKFAST burritos, which was good to know - will come back and try that one of these evenings! This truck is located in the Lucky Car Wash site at the corner of Colorado & Rosemead, which was interesting - but they had chairs and you could eat at the location. Not a fan of eating by the roads, a little too dusty for me, so I ate in the car! I was looking for carnitas tacos originally so we went with that as a choice. (There was no carnitas at the other truck we went to) Very moist and flavorful, but onions & cilantro toppings were separated, which you could get on your own at the table they set up. Salsa was also available with small containers to fill salsa with. But I think the salsa can afford to have more kick overall. I liked how everything was conveniently available, even sandwich bags to get any other condiments/toppings! I didn't try any other tacos, and for the most part it was tasty, but nothing super special - but staff here were friendly and helpful!

The spit caught my eye here as I drove by and had to check it out. The place was packed on a Saturday night and rightfully so. Everything smelled and looked delicious.

It's a one-man operation, so wait times can be a bit longer if he's busy--but it's understandable. I loved the neon signs and the hospitality Rodney brings. You can genuinely taste the soul he puts into his food. That said, a few notes come down to personal preference--so if you enjoy it as-is, feel free to take this with a grain of salt. The ribs were incredibly tender--10/10. They were truly fall-off-the-bone. Personally, I would have loved a bit more of that smoky char you get from Texas-style ribs, but that's just my preference. Either way, Rodney clearly knows what he's doing. The potato salad wasn't my favorite. It leaned heavily on mustard, and there seemed to be a lot of relish or pickles, which threw me off a bit. Still, I'd absolutely come back again just for the ribs. The customer ahead of us ordered brisket, and I appreciated that Rodney was upfront about whether it was on the leaner or fattier side--that level of honesty goes a long way. Overall, the BBQ smelled and tasted great, and the pricing is very reasonable for the portions you get--it's definitely worth the value. If you enjoy good BBQ, I'd recommend making the trip to check this spot out before more people discover it. One thing to note: the ribs are truly fall-off-the-bone, so if you prefer a firmer, more "bite-through" texture where you can really gnaw on the meat, this might not be your style.

Birds were chirping and music was playing out of the speakers scattered throughout the area. It's a food truck. I ordered the cheesy Mikey. I only waited less than 5 minutes for it. The line to order was pretty long. I waited in that line for an hour or longer. But that's understandable since a lot of groups ordered tons of items while it was just me that ordered. I got to speak to Mike since one of his employees left. He verified my order, gave me napkins since it's not self serve and pointed out the ketchup and other condiments I think. The cheeseburger came with lettuce tomato onion garlic aioli sauce and the patty. I loved how all the flavors blended together, nothing was overpowering. It came with fries and it filled me up. The portion size was perfect. My order was $23.84 but that's because I tipped 10% and I think it was worth it. My one gripe was that they don't accept cash which is understandable because the kiosk was card only. I should've walked to the front and checked it or asked an employee. Their speedy work is doubly impressive because they offered multiple things off their menu and allowed people to make customizations too. I got the Cheesy Mikey, which is their hand crafted 1/2 lb angus beef patty burger. The burger is seasoned with their Mike's Fat Boy's seasoning. The burger comes with a generous portion of chopped lettuce, sliced tomato, American cheese on a grilled brioche bun (it was grilled with butter and had a nice tasty crispy edge of the bun). The burger came with their garlic aioli sauce. It's a very filling burger and perfect for me since I didn't have breakfast. I will have to admit that this burger is a bit saltier than what I would have liked, but if you balance out your bites to get enough lettuce and tomato within the ratio, it balances out the saltiness, but if there's the option to adjust it, I definitely would. Overall, pretty good!

I pulled into the Good Fortune Supermarket (formerly Hong Kong Supermarket) parking lot to check it out. Everything looked new and clean, but business seemed slow because no one was around. Two Asian men sitting around liao tianr-ing (chatting) sprang up as I approached. My Chinese not being the best combined with their somewhat heavy mainland accents meant I didn't know how or what to order. They said they had one last serving of what sounded like "lamb" to me left. I took a glance and saw grilled/fried stuff on the menu, so I said sure why not. I asked how long they've been open, what their hours are, and if they're usually at this location. They said this is the first week they've been open, their hours are around 5 PM to 9 PM, and yes they are usually in front of the supermarket. I asked if I could take pictures and if they had a Yelp page, and they said sure and not yet. Around this time, while I was chatting with one guy and the other guy was preparing my order, a few other groups of people saw the commotion and started inching closer, curious. You know me, always blazing trails. Anyway, it wasn't until I paid and got change that I realized what I ordered. Apparently I ordered the Brothers Features Liangpi. I've never heard of a liangpi, so I was excited to bring it home to try it out. It turns out liangpi is like a flat rice noodle (or mungbean sheet?) cut up with cold cucumbers, tofu, cilantro, and a bit of Sichuan pepper (mala). They gave me a sesame sauce on the side. It was pretty good. In summary: Food was good though I ordered only one thing. I'll be back sometime in the next few days to try out more of their menu. Service was good. I was the only one around for a bit, but they were definitely friendly. Food truck with an "A" rating from the health department. It's a positive, but part of me wants to count it as a negative. Asian street food, to me, just isn't the same without massive cockroaches skittering around piles of rotting vegetables all around me while mosquitoes eat me alive. Pricing seems fair. Definitely not cheap as my liangpi wasn't huge or anything, but it wasn't too expensive either. I hope Asian-street-food food trucks become more popular.

We had gone to the UCLA football game at the Rose Bowl on Saturday night and after all the mayhem was over at 11:30 pm I really wanted some truly good food and not get gouged on price - and I knew that Yelp would help me find just that...and we found Los California Tacos! First of all, this food truck was voted the nations #1 food truck in 2022 by ZenBusiness who evaluates food trucks based on Yelp reviews and voted them #1 out of the top 10 most reviewed food trucks in the US! - So there's that. And then we found out why, first hand. I'm originally from Texas and the rule there is the way to find a great restaurant you for a place that has a lot of cars in the parking lot and a line out the door. And this taco truck is tucked back in the small parking lot of an auto repair shop sonofabitch you're driving too fast you might miss it. But we saw all the cars parked on the street and then the line of people at the truck. My girlfriend was like "I don't wanna wait a half hour to eat" but because of how late it was (they stay open till 2:30 am) we decided to stay and give it a try. It was astonishing how fast they were moving people through that line! From the time we hit that parking lot, we were feasting within 5-7 mins. They only serve 2 things - street tacos ($2.50 each) and we later saw that they also serve nachos (not sure what the price is on nachos - but we'd love to try those next time ). They have a wonderful assortment of meats as you can see from my pic: asada (steak), pastor (BBQ pork), carnitas (fried pork), chicharron (spicy pork), cabeza (beef cheek) & pollo (chicken). We got asada, pastor and pollo tacos and they were VERY good. You can get spicy or mild and they come with onions & cilantro. There are 4 or 5 guys cooking and as soon as you tell them what you want they are handing to you - not kidding, lightning fast, hot & fresh! It is artistic how well-oiled their whole business runs and is VERY impressive!! They don't have actual tables (because that would be inefficient). The auto repair shop has installed a pull-down shelf on the parking lot wall that you walk over to once you have your food and it is very efficient and absolutely perfect for this location. Again, this one our most impressive finds and $14 for 5 tacos and a 5 min wait for what looks to be a 30+ min wait is just unheard of. 5 stars all day long!!
