Houston's is one of my absolute favorites. I usually visit 2-3 times per month. The food and service are reliably good. Always. Their French dip and "adult fish and chips" (pan fried petrale sole) are two of my favorites. If you order a martini they provide a fresh cold glass half-way through your drink. In terms of ambience, it's classy and upscale. They do not do groups so you don't have to worry about big, rowdy, messy tables. There's also no children's menu so I find that there are very few, if any, children there. They have a dedicated parking lot (self-parking) as well as street parking and an overflow garage. read more

Fortunately they offer free parking on the restaurant lot. Metered parking on the street is possible but limited. Venue 5: Upscale and trendy setting with comfortable indoor tables and booths. No outdoor seating. It is always very busy so be sure to make reservations way ahead of time Service 3.5: Our server this time was a little slow and casual, and not very attentive. This is unusual for Houston's. Food 5: Excellent, upscale comfort food. You simply cannot go wrong with anything on their menu. Drinks 3: Excellent (but small) list of creative specialty drinks. Food was great, prices high. Service was fantastic.. EXCEPT ONE THING... We don't drink alcohol so we requested a seltzer water muddled with mint and cherries and THEY COULDN'T DO THAT!?!?! They COULDNT!?!? HOW ODD. We spent about $100 here and this was shocking. Never have we been told no for this drink order... So disappointed in the quality of the food. It felt like i just went to a Chilis and not a "high end" Hillstone Restaurant. Everything we ordered was a 2/10 except the dirty martini. The sushi, the burger, the fries. They don't do espresso martinis, they don't have club soda, the artichoke was "out of season", they don't even have a dessert menu. Every ask was denied politely. The staff were really wonderful and sweet but wow the food was really awful. I used to love Houston's but I will never go there again. It's been a long time coming since I've been back to Houston's. And boy do I miss it. Food was delicious. The service was excellent. I was seated at the bar and even though the bartenders were swamped they were still attentive and make sure everything was good and if anything else was needed. It was crowded for a Friday afternoon, you can imagine how bust it would be during dinner time and weekends. I would always recommend Houston's, you can never go with wrong with a Pasadena staple. One of my favorite restaurants in Pasadena. The food is consistently good, the service has always been excellent, and the only downside has been the long wait when we don't have a reservation. As a long-time customer of almost 20 years, I was very disappointed with our visit around 7 pm on July 26, 2026. My husband was told by a manager that his outfit did not meet the dress code, so he respectfully went home to change. When we returned, we noticed other guests being seated in much more casual attire. When my husband politely asked why the dress code appeared to be enforced differently, the manager's response felt dismissive and did not address our concern. Instead, he was told he could leave if he was uncomfortable. Our concern is not about having a dress code -- we understand restaurants may have standards. The issue is the inconsistent enforcement and the way the situation was handled. I've always enjoyed dining at Houston's, which is why this visit was so disappointing. I met an old friend for lunch yesterday, and from the moment our food arrived we were constantly swatting away gnats. It was distracting and made it difficult to enjoy the meal. Our waitress also seemed to be rushing us to order, even after we explained we were longtime friends catching up and planned to have a leisurely lunch. We later found out another server was taking over because her shift had ended, which explained the rush, but it still made us feel hurried. To top it off, the fire alarm went off during our meal. It was extremely loud and unpleasant. The staff apologized, which we appreciated, but combined with the gnats and the rushed service, it really put a damper on the experience. Houston's is usually one of my favorite restaurants because of its consistently great food and service. Unfortunately, this visit missed the mark. Houston we have a problem! What happened in the divorce? Did somebody else get the hospitality? And all the flavor and the cleanliness policy and left Houston with nothing? The bathrooms were clean, but the floors near the bar and the entrance were dirty. With napkins from people's cocktails, and the food had no flavor. And we had to package our own food to go. Told the manager about it, and she had very little concern. Our show very little concern. Her only offer was to replace the dish. I was interested in getting another dish of food; I just wanted to know what happened. She was in. It's always been a go-to whenever I brought people in from other states. And honestly if I were to come back, I would only go for dinner. The price you pay is too high for lunch. Inside is dimly lit, another reason it's better to go for dinner, has a more romantic vibe. I have been a loyal customer of Houston's Pasadena for many years and dine here four to five times a week. I've always loved the food, service, and atmosphere, which is why this experience was so disappointing. During my visit on July 2, 2026, I asked another guest if they would mind moving over one seat to accommodate my party--but only after receiving approval from a manager, Katherine. The guest agreed without any issue. A short time later, General Manager Jourdan approached me in what I felt was an aggressive and confrontational manner. She raised her voice, stood directly in my personal space, and spoke to me in a way that I found intimidating and disrespectful. If there had been a misunderstanding about the seating arrangement, I would have gladly complied had it been explained to me respectfully. Unfortunately, this was not my first unpleasant interaction with Jourdan. On another occasion, I received an explanation about children sitting at the bar that conflicted with what my girlfriend had previously been told regarding her son. The inconsistent application of policies, combined with my recent experience, left me questioning the level of customer service and professionalism at this location. I continue to believe Houston's serves excellent food, and the staff has generally been outstanding. However, the way I was treated by the General Manager did not reflect the hospitality I have come to expect from this restaurant. I hope Houston's takes customer feedback seriously and addresses these concerns so that every guest is treated with courtesy, professionalism, and respect. read more

My wife and I came to Houston's for my birthday dinner, but we've actually been here many times because the food, service, and ambience are consistently top notch. Our go-to dishes are the Hawaiian Steak (medium rare) and either the Baby Back Ribs or the French Dip. The Hawaiian Steak is super juicy and flavorful, and the loaded baked potato is to die for. The Baby Back Ribs have a great barbecue flavor with a nice crisp texture, and the fries are always solid. The beef in the French Dip is also really tender and moist, which makes it another favorite. We were a couple of minutes early and they already had a table set up for me and my wife. Leilani was our server and she was simply amazing! From the time we sat down, to ordering and food arriving to our table, everything was quick. Our go to items are always the Pan-Asian Noodle Salad and The Hawaiian (medium-rare). Food was made-to-order and portions were large enough to share between the both of us. The Spinach Artichoke dip is a must for us, but we were so full trying to finish everything. We had the absolute worst service we've ever experienced at the Houston's Pasadena location today. We are very loyal Houston's customers and regularly travel to different locations because we usually have such great experiences, so today was incredibly disappointing. We sat at the bar and waited about 15 minutes before anyone took our order. We ordered sushi and were only given one soy sauce dish to share. We asked for a second dish, but it wasn't brought until after we had already finished eating our sushi another 15+ minute wait. I also asked multiple times for a drink refill, and each request took an extremely long time. Our bartender/server showed no sense of urgency throughout the entire meal. We also both ordered soup and specifically requested extra cabbage and radishes, but neither request was done. Both soups were also freezing cold. After we left, we called the restaurant simply to let the manager know about our experience. We weren't looking for a refund or any compensation we just wanted to provide feedback because the restaurant wasn't even busy when we visited, and the level of service was unacceptable. Unfortunately, speaking with the manager, Jourdan Mor, made the experience even worse. Rather than listening to our concerns, she repeatedly insisted that it was our fault for not saying something while we were still in the restaurant. We explained that we were only calling to share feedback so the issue could be addressed, but she continued repeating herself. At the end of the call, she sat in complete silence for over a minute. When we finally asked if she was still on the line, she replied, "Yes, but I don't have anything else to say." That response was incredibly unprofessional and showed a complete lack of concern for loyal customers. The poor service from our server was disappointing enough, but the manager's dismissive attitude ensured we will never return to the Pasadena location. What a fantastic birthday surprise! My girlfriend blindfolded me and refused to tell me where we were going for my 49th birthday. I had no idea what to expect, but wow... she absolutely nailed it! The pineapple ribeye was amazing packed with flavor and cooked to perfection. The wood-grilled ribeye never fails: tender, juicy, and absolutely phenomenal. Every bite was worth it. I love Houston's! This location is very cool because of the koy fish outside. We had wonderful service and the ambiance is always nice and relaxed with the dim lighting. The spinach dip was of course absolutely delicious and my two year old loved the chips. I love how they refill the chips without asking when seeing we could use more. I really enjoyed the crab cakes and braised red cabbage. I mean the dabs of goat cheese just send the cabbage over the top as an awesome choice. It wasn't after 5pm so sadly, no baked potato for me. I received a gift card here for $100 from a dear friend of mine. I never tried this place before and wanted to give it a shot. Outside, there's a vast parking lot near the back lot of the place. Me and a friend found one luckily although there may have been way more towards the rear but we were able to find one close by the entrance. Inside is low ambient lighting and a unique layout. Sort of like wood ranch, stone fire barbecue if you ever been. There was a booths to the sides and a massive bar round table where a lot of people were sitting, near the middle were a ton of booths with stairs leading up and down and a nice clean bathroom in the back corner. The AC was ramped up high on a very hot day exceeding 90 degrees outside. Service was excellent, the main waitress we had was pleasant all the way through our time being there. Her energy was incredibly high and she had a natural friendly behavior that is rare to see nowadays. Although it may be because she was hitting on my friend pretty much the entire time. She was flirting, telling him about the drinks and recommended things to order completely ignoring me, but not in a mean way. She was just well, attracted to him. As for the service at the front, the lady that seated us was really nice too. Very friendly, good communication like I never seen before in a lot of places. 5/5 overall in that regard, I felt appreciated and it's very rare to see that respect nowadays. As for the food, well, it is pricey. This is an expensive restaurant without question, but the quality and taste of the food was excellent. Fast service maybe 15 minutes and we got not only the appetizers, but the entree. We ordered sushi 8 piece tuna roll, artichoke dip with sour cream and salsa and chips, my friend got a lemon drop martini the waitress recommended for him because she liked him a lot, I just got water. The water was served in a small glass cup that was nice to grip and drink from. For entrees, I ordered the French dip with au jus and horseradish. It was so dang good. 5/5 in flavor and texture. The horseradish and au jus was so delicious with the sandwich. I also received coleslaw which was meh. My friend ordered the rotisserie chicken plate with greens. It was alright, but nothing spectacular. It was a 4/5 and both dishes were $29 each from what I remember. Not exactly cheap, but it was tasty. Our total was about $133. This exceeded the $100 we initially had. We tipped the waitress for outstanding service. The ambiance was amazing and the seats inside were full and comfy. I would recommend this place, I'll be back again for sure. Maybe on a special occasion though. It was better than most restaurants I have been too. Too bad it's far from home. read more

To start out. I am visiting for business and anytime i pass by a Houston's i get excited because of all the good food and experiences i have had at other Houstons Properties. Unfortunately, this location fell far below expectations. The hostess was rude and requested i turn my phone down when the volume was not high. I am sitting at the bar alone and was listening to a podcast while waiting for my food. Keep in mind its lunch (2pm the place is packed and loud itself with the kitchen and people talking. Yet i was called out and embarrassed for listening to a person talk that was on my phone. To not make a scene i finished my meal which didnt taste right because the whole mood had changed. Then i see they give hot moist towels to every new person who sits down to clean their hands but i was never offered this. It seems to be I was not welcomed here. And after reviewing other bad reviews there seem to be a pattern towards people of color. They lost a customer for life. read more

Everything was amazing and the steaks were cooked to perfection. I am not usually a person who likes marinated steaks however their ribeye was tender and so flavorful I would highly recommend each and every dish that we got. Houston has a dark and moody ambience fit for most occasions. A little loud for a date but great for family and friends. It's always packed so definitely make reservations in advance. Their artichokes melt in your mouth and tend to sell out early. The cheeseburger is solid all around, while the prime rib sandwich is absolutely mouthwatering. The pan seared salmon was crispy on the outside and juicy inside.
