Popped in on the right day!!! They just released a few new dishes on their menu that I thought were delicious. The staff were extremely sweet, warm, and inviting and the ambience was clean and hip. But most importantly the food was up to my Thai standards! Everything was perfectly spicy, fresh, and vibrant. Flavors were a great balance of sweet, sour, salty, and heat. Cute little restaurant. Food was tasty. We had Pad Thai with Salmon and the Goon ob Woonsen. Both were flavorful. The Pad Thai served over the banana leaf is a nice touch. The service is friendly. Food is was OK, nothing really standing out for the price they charge. Inside is very cute , but I was expecting really memorable delicious and flavorful food. I thought the food was lacking in complexity and flavor, my food was actually not hot and the chicken is just reheated and served with rice that was lumpy and not restaurant quality. And service was weird, friendly but on the slow side considering it was pretty empty . Had to ask for refills when all our waters were empty and didn't get checked on enough. For a Thai place I think there are better tasting places than this. read more

This was a really disappointing lunch experience. First off, there could have communication on what we were getting. The server asked only some of us if we wanted to include egg, assuming all of us wanted it without confirming. He did not tell us that it was extra, so to our surprise, all of our dishes on the receipt had an additional $2. Not only that, the eggs were all cooked differently, with one of the yolks being overdone. Secondly, the dishes we ordered were overpriced. For the portion as well as quality of the dishes, it should not cost more than $20. Either reduce the price to match the portions and better the dishes itself. Tofu lacked flavor, noodles were mushy :( All and all, better preparation and communication would have avoided all of this. Please do better. read more

The place is quint, pad Thai was okay, definitely more street food style. The basil chicken was unique. However they Nickle and dime you for everything, $2 for egg upsell and $4 for chicken. The only protein included is tofu. $60 for 2 lunch dishes is a lot for what you get read more

Found this new Thai place in Pasadena. Ended up getting some drinks to go. Got the Mango Sticky Rice Slushie and the Milo Cloud. They recently opened up this place so they had a promotion, buy one drink get 2nd drink 50% off. I believe the promotion is good for a couple more weeks. Will be back to try their food :) read more

Unfortunately, I had a really disappointing experience here. I was excited to try this new Thai spot, but after eating here I ended up getting food poisoning. I'd strongly recommend the restaurant take extra care to make sure food is handled safely and fully cooked before being served. Hoping this was just a one time issue, but definitely something the restaurant and customers should be aware of. We suspect the pork jowl was not fully cooked all the way - it can seem seared on the outside but not cooked inside. We hope this gets addressed! read more

I came by during their Soft Opening. I'm a Community Manager nearby so naturally I NEED to try new local offerings so I can suggest options to my members. Interior The inside is super cute and feels really open, love the color pop on the tile. There are dining tables as well as a bar top area. Next time I will have to dine in so I can try the Mango Sticky Rice Beer (sounds delicious). Ordering Ordering to go is super easy with the large order table to the right by the entrance. Menu Their menu is limited during the soft open but still offers plenty to choose from, I will def be back once the Green bean dish is available. Food Ordered For this particular visit I ordered the Basil Bowl with Ground Pork - Mild Spicy. Their spice levels are true so if you don't eat spicy much start with Mild. I planned on eating half for lunch and half for dinner but it was so good I devoured it in one sitting. Pricing Pricing is what you would expect for a sit-down restaurant with entrees starting $17. I normally try to keep my lunch purchases under $15 (its hard to do but there are options). However, FriYAY deserves a delicious splurge. Staff The staff is super friendly and inviting. They were very attentive and informative. They even offered me water while I waited for me food (didn't have to wait long at all). Base price for pad Thai is 19 USD, and an additional 4 dollars for protein. For two people including tax and no tip, youre paying easily over 50 USD. Furthermore, the pad see ew was burnt to hell; I could see bits of ash embedded in the noodles and taste the charcoal grill it was wiped off of. And the waiter barely came up to us at all and never asked about the food quality. Utterly disappointing experience and will definitely not be back. read more

I was walking on Union Street, in Old Town Pasadena, and I saw this new, very appealing Thai restaurant. I just entered the place and was immediately greeted by a very friendly hostess. I chose to have something to go and she helped me with the touch screen kiosk. I ordered a Kor Moo Yang and I waited at the bar. After a little while, I got the food, went back home and opened the takeout. The presentation of the Kor Moo Yang was very nice and it tasted really good. The decor is super cute and the vibes are really good. Sadly the food wasn't up to par imo. We got the jellyfish appetizer, mushroom larb with grilled shrimp, and fried rice. I've had jellyfish many times and I'm about 99% sure the "jellyfish" was actually Weilong konjac jelly snacks, which I do enjoy frequently as a snack pack, but is in no way jellyfish or acceptable as an actual restaurant dish. The other two dishes were good, but portions were small for the price point. The mushroom larb was very saucey and sweet, which I didn't expect from larb as it's usually a cleaner flavor. The fried rice was probably my favorite of the bunch. I enjoyed the charred flavor, but the rice itself was quite mushy. I'm not picky about that though, so I still enjoyed it. read more

Happened upon Thaim walking by and decided to get lunch, had no idea they just opened a little over a week ago. SO good and glad we decided to eat here!!! We got the wings that came with Thai chili sauce and a seafood sauce, the pad thai with fried tofu, and the pork basil bowl. Everything was so good we couldn't decide which plate was our favorite, and it all tasted super fresh/made from scratch. The server was super friendly and helpful too. Went for their soft opening and so glad there's a different type of Thai spot in town. I got their pad tha with short rib and it was such a surprise. The pad Thai was absolutely delicious but the star was the short rib. Perfectly cooked and tender. Super flavorful! My friend and I ordered the Pad Thai and Pad See Ew. When I asked the male server what meat was included in the Pad Thai, I was shown the ordering device and told the first row of meat options were included. I selected the chicken and asked again if that was included in the price of the Pad Thai and was told it was. My friend also asked if the chicken was included in her Pad See Ew and was told the same thing. When the check came, I noticed we had to pay an additional $4 for the chicken per dish. We brought this to the attention of our waiter, and he said that the chicken was included and wasn't sure what happened. A lady came over with the menu telling us the chicken wasn't included. When we explained what happened, she didn't have any remorse and asked if everything was fine before walking away. We left and won't be returning again. read more

Horrible experience at this new spot. Found a live cockroach crawling under our booth seating right after our food was served. When we complained, the staff actually tried to excuse it by saying the roach "walked in from the outside because the door was open." Absolute nonsense. On top of that, the Basil Bowl was incredibly salty and borderline inedible. They gave us 15% off, but a minor discount doesn't make up for gross sanitation issues and ridiculous excuses. What a cute place! Loved the pink and green decor, it was bright clean and the ambiance was relaxing, music was not so loud that we had to scream at each other. We usually go to Thai Town in Hollywood for our Thai food , but I liked what I saw of the menu online and we decided to try it. Everything was fantastic, the corn salad was very fresh and flavorful, equal or better than the version we had in Thai Town, and the Pad Thai with grilled pork was excellent too. Not too sweet, as it can sometimes be. We usually order a spice level of 7 in Thai Town, which will pretty much blow your head off , but we forgot we were in Pasadena, it was more like a 2 , if that, so if you want spice, go for a 10! Our waiter Miguel was very helpful and brought extra chiles, altho you have to specifically ask for the ones with vinegar, which would add some needed acidity to the Pad Thai, altho it was delicious as it was. Cant wait to go back and try more stuff. Ask Miguel for some parking tips too, BTW, that area of Pasadena is kinda nuts for parking. read more
