Mission Statement: As we celebrate more than six decades in business, we remain committed to the same principles that were established in 1963: quality ingredients, timeless recipes, and treating every guest like family. We're honored to be a gathering place for our community and a destination for those seeking an authentic taste of classic American dining. Whether you are a regular local or a first-time visitor, we are happy to serve you. Pasadena is heralded as the birthplace of the cheeseburger, and we honor that tradition with utmost pride. Many of our recipes date back to 1963, when the restaurant first opened. We remain committed to preserving the quality and essence of the traditions that have been passed down through generations. We look forward to your next visit and sharing our special sauce with you! Credit Cards: They're not accepted, but they do have a atm inside the shop. Price Point: Kinda pricey, but the quality of the food is good. Restrooms: Restrooms are available for usage. Just be mindful that there are no handles or knobs for hot and cold water. Under the sink, there are dual knee pedals that operate the hot and cold water. Location/Parking: Major cross streets are Lake and California. Parking can be found in the shared parking with Loli Farms. You can also parking along California. Ambiance/Decor: Classic American diner feel. Sprinkled with some antique equipment (milkshake maker and cash register to name a few) that still part of their daily operations. Service: Service was great. All the staffers that we interacted with were friendly, attentive (Catherine asked if we wanted to half the burger and milkshake), knowledgeable about the shop and offered great suggestions. Food came out at a decent time. Food Of Choice: 1) Hamburger ($14.50): 1/4 prime beef served with lettuce, pickles, onions (we got the onions grilled), tomato, American cheese, and our homemade 1000 Island dressing. Burger was tasty and the ingredients were quite fresh. Hamburger is kinda pricey, but the quality shows. 2) Hand dipped Milkshake: Very good. They use Thrifty ice cream! We got vanilla ice cream with chocolate. 3) Peach Pie (Slice): Pie was great. You can tell that it's homemade. It is a tad sweet though. Treat yourself once in a while. :) Pie and Burger For Thought: Wouldn't mind coming back to try more pies.

    This is the place!!

We LOVE Pie N Burger! Why didn't we discover this sooner? We have been frequent visitors of the Pasadena area when we visit F&F, but it's feeling like a second home. Pie N Burger has always been one of the places on my list. When we were taking a walk, I purposely took a detour here. It's a no-frills diner spot that has been around since 1963 - it is what it is. **This is a cash only restaurant. They have an on-site ATM that will charge you fees. I recommend getting cash at your bank ATM before stopping by. We were trying to divvy up what we could order with what we had on us until we discovered the ATM. We ordered shareables, so we started with an one of the egg breakfasts combos, and added a side of pancakes and a lemon merengue pie to go. What stood out is the jams/preserves were house made, as well as their salsa. The salsa has a kick but it is good. I couldn't say anything bad about what we ate because it was SO good. I am craving on going back for the preserves and pancakes. I know we'll have to go back for the burgers for out next visit. We sat at the counter but our waitress was above average/excellent service. It's so nice to be somewhere so welcoming and local.

My roommate and I came for national cheeseburger week! It's a small countertop diner. They had a combo deal with a cheeseburger/hamburger, side, and drink for $17 which is a great deal! The burger was pretty good and I'm not even a fan of burgers! Very fresh and perfectly cooked. The patty itself was pretty plain. We got banana merengue and boysenberry pie. We had never had boysenberry before, it was sweet and jammy. The banana merengue was good too, I think I liked it more. The merengue was light and fluffy. Get there early if you want to try the lemon merengue pie, they said they only make one per day.

Pie 'n Burger has been around since the early '60s, and, when you step inside, it transports you back with its formica counters and the soda fountain setup. They serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner, in addition to pies and kid options. We came here, hearing about their tasty burgers and chili, so we ordered the Hamburger Combo (with cheese), and a side of chili cheese fries. Unfortunately, the food was inedible. The burger, while the buns were toasted with butter, giving it a nice crisp, was overcooked; the cheese wasn't even melted, and the patty itself was pure down raw - not even medium rare or rare, but completely raw. The fries weren't even served warm, and the chili that they used was pretty gross. Not sure how this place even gets business - it was definitely one of the worst meals we've had in quite some time. Service was okay when a server finally came over after about 10+ minutes, but with only a couple of parties dining in, the staff had no sense of urgency to greet, provide information of whether we seat ourselves or wait to be seated, and/or take our orders. No dice, Pie 'n Burger. +raw patties served +avoid the chili +inattentive and lack of service +small parking lot available

This spot is a true old-school gem that's been around forever. You can grab a seat at the counter or settle in at a table and choose your favorites from the menu on the wall. Prices have definitely gone up--but that's pretty much everywhere these days. The cheeseburgers are incredible, and the sodas are made the old-fashioned way with real Coke syrup. And don't skip dessert--the pie topped with a scoop of ice cream is absolutely divine. It's not trendy or fancy, but locals know this is the place to go for a great burger and a slice of pie.

My husband and I have been to Pie 'n Burger twice now after hearing about their great pies from a friend. We visited again today, and it was just as good as the first time. For lunch, we each had the CHEESEBURGER COMBO with fries. Their burgers are great! I also love the old-school fountain sodas that they make in-house. For pie, we've tried the APPLE, BOYSENBERRY, and RHUBARB. They are all delicious! We've also tried the CARROT CAKE, which is super tasty as well. I definitely recommend getting your pie with ice cream and/or the homemade whipped cream. Service can be a little slow, but everyone that works there is really friendly. There's also usually a wait-time on the weekends, so prepare to wait anywhere from five to thirty minutes for a seat. Cash only!! There's an ATM inside.

Don't over think it: order pie and burger when you get here! This time capsule reliably serves up these classics. I recently arrived on a rainy day and the vibes were perfect for sitting at the counter to enjoy the food. The hamburger had a perfectly toasted bun and was cooked exactly how I liked it. It was hard to choose the pie from the plethora of options, but we eventually settled on boysenberry. Our server was extremely kind and brought out the whip cream on the side after we declined whip cream since my date didn't want any the side. (She could read my mind that I really wanted it. :-)

Had a few drs appts in Pasadena so decided to make a day of it and wanted to go shopping at nearby stores. We parked in a parking lot that technically wasn't for them but we had no issues. Place is very small but cute.. we sat in the back and ordered quickly. I got the burger and my son got the pot pie. It was ok.. my burger was pink and that grosses me out. As I think it does most people! I ate it cause I was starving for and didn't want to wait for another burger. My son's pot pie looked pretty!! I watched her pull it outta the microwave.. I was disappointed in that but oh well. My son said it was just.. it's cash only and that's not convenient but I had read on another review so I made sure I had some. I don't live near there so can't say I'll be back..

We lived in Pasadena in the 80s, and when my wife was pregnant with our younger daughter, Pie 'n Burger served her holy trinity: a burger, onion rings, and a slice of peanut butter pie. After disappearing for a few decades (me, not the diner), I finally went back for lunch and ordered the exact same thing. I'm happy to report that absolutely nothing has changed--the food is still delicious, the counter service is still fast and friendly, and the interior is still stubbornly, gloriously old school. Hooray for nostalgia on a plate!

We were excited to finally try this place! The sign in the front is appealing , especially if you love Pie and Burgers!...which we do. It's not a fancy place. It has an old style atmosphere with plenty of bar seating with tables towards the back of the restaurant. There were five people at the counter and the tables were empty. We chose a table. Service was ok. Our waitress seemd hesitant or 'offstandish' at first but loosened up a little, cracking at least a little smile towards the end. We ordered a cheeseburger/ fries and a Patty Melt/ onion rings meals. Our first thought when we received our food was, 'Where's the Beef?!' For a place that emphasized burgers we expected beefy patties, not McDonalds size burger patties. They were tasty but they were Not what we expected for, like I said, a place emphasizing burgers. The coffee was great but I never got a refil...not one!...and the place wasn't even that busy to where a waitress would lose track! So, we're glad we crossed this off our Bucket list. This is a 'One-and done' for us. Maybe if we lived in the area we would return but we will not be making another road trip to visit Pie N Burger .

Pie & Burger is a longtime local favorite, and with good reason. The food is consistently delicious, fresh, homemade and service is always top notch. However, I had to update my review because I was truly shocked at the pricing for my takeout meal today. I got a veggie burger with fries, my husband got a tri tip sandwich with included onion rings, and a small side of macaroni salad- we both ordered soda and shared one piece of peach pie. The sodas are 12 oz size and filled with ice. Typically 12oz is what comes in a kids meal and 16 Oz is a small soda at most restaurants. This place only takes cash, and has an ATM inside. The cost for this was $70. For carry out. The portions were average to small on the fries & onion rings. The pie piece was large. The food was great, as always. However, it isn't often that I am shocked by value for money. It's expensive to get takeout these days, I get it. But $70 ?! I feel like for that price we should have at least had our Diet Coke & root beer presented in a size typical of most restaurants (16 oz). The macaroni salad portion was also quite small. I rarely complain, and want to reiterate the food is fantastic-but I just don't think we got a meal worth $70.

I ordered the Hamburger Combo, and a Banana Pie Key points: Tough Parking, best to just park on the street close by Cash Only!! (There's an ATM inside) This place is cool because it feels like you're in a restaurant in the 60's, even the register is super vintage, but even though everything is old, the prices are VERY up to date. For $34 before tip, I got a cheeseburger with fries, soda, and a slice of pie. The cheeseburger was good, it was a bit messy and overloaded with lettuce, but still had good flavor. If the burgers were cheaper I would go out of my way for it. The fries are really basic, same thing you'd find at just about any small burger place. The Soda was good, it's cool that for their cokes they manually put the syrup in and mix it, I've never seen that before but know it's common for old restaurants. However, for $4 you get a super small glass that's filled with ice, not really worth the price since it's like three sips worth. The Banana Pie was AMAZING, I would definitely go out of my way just for this. I would highly recommend to get this Overall, I think it's very expensive for what you get, but was worth the try. The service was good food came out super super quick. But unfortunately I don't see myself making another visit.

It looks like it is a hole in the hall kind of place, but it is massively popular with a lot of foot traffic. It must have been spread by word of mouth and for good reason. Service: they are very very quick with making the food. You order outside and pick up inside. Ambiance: there is plenty of space for parking as well as the restaurant itself. Lots of seating inside and some outside as well. They have a bar for you to get sides, utensils, and Togo stuff. Food: they are famous for their breakfast burritos, I ended up getting a burrito two ways with bacon and sausage. It was HUGE! It was bigger than my forearm and the food was so so good. The sausage was whole and juicy, the bacon was crispy and not burnt, the eggs were moist and flavorful, and the tortilla was warmed on the grill. The portions are MASSIVE the burrito can definitely be shared between two people. It ended up being $14 but with it shared between two people that comes out to be $7 per person so very affordable. Overall, this place is very good if you're in the mood for a breakfast burrito. The quality is fantastic and the price is amazing.

This is a burger joint with a diverse menu, including one of the biggest breakfast burritos in town. I got my burrito with bacon. The burrito comes with hashbrown style potatoes, eggs and cheese - you get a choice of ham, bacon or sausage for your meat (or have it without meat). The bacon was crispy and remained crispy when I reheated my other half. Not only is the bacon crispy, the burrito has a generous amount of it! Oh and the other plus - the tortilla does not come wet and soggy and remains in perfect condition if you have leftovers. The burrito comes with only one salsa and to be honest, you really do need two for such a big burrito. I'm a green salsa girl but I asked what I should go with and I was recommended the red one (the green one is supposedly spicier). The red salsa did not disappoint other than I needed one more for my whole burrito (there's no kick to this salsa but it's tasty). The burrito itself isn't bursting with flavor on its own and it requires the salsa to compliment the other ingredients. But, who eats a breakfast burrito without salsa? There is ample parking in their parking lot and there's seating both inside and outside. I will definitely be returning to satisfy my breakfast burrito craving very soon and if this is what you're looking for - stop reading reviews and go get you one at Lucky Boy (it's served all day).

Super Burger is owned by a super-nice Korean family. There are various Korean dishes in their menu available but I only go there for the burgers. What makes their simple burgers so great? First off the burger patty-- the patties are formed in-house. The cooked patties have that irregular edge that can only come from being hand-formed; imperfect and delicious. These aren't the frozen discs delivered by a freezer truck. The ratio of the ingredients are ideal. -- The tomato is sliced to the perfect thickness -- The freshly-shredded lettuce doesn't manspread and take up too much of the burger's real estate -- The thousand island dressing marries the freshness of the veggie section to the animal part perfectly -- The burger patty's girth is appropriately balanced for the other ingredients. -- Their buns have that old-school yeast(?) flavor not available in stores. Their burgers are lovingly prepared and assembled with care. This is why whenever I go, there are always people there. Seating is strictly patio style, looking out onto the intersection of Altadena and Villa. There lot is small lot next to the stand. I'm not sure if it's shared with another business.
