What was once Coco's Bakery, a longtime neighborhood staple, is now this Denny's. My family used to love stopping by Coco's for their pies, so this location brings back a lot of great memories. I can't remember exactly when it became a Denny's, but we've been coming here ever since and have always enjoyed our visits. The service has always been friendly, and the food is consistently good. I'm a creature of habit, so I order the same meal every time: the French Toast Slam with well-done hash browns instead of eggs, no sausage, and extra bacon. We came here after a dental appointment because my friend wanted pancakes for her birthday, so we went with Denny's since it was her choice and convenient. We both ordered T-bone steaks--mine medium rare, hers medium. Unfortunately, both orders came out incorrect. My steak was well done instead of medium rare. My friend's was also overcooked, so hers was sent back. She ended up switching to a sirloin, which was tough. My steak was remade, but it still came out overcooked again. The cut was also very thin, more like something suited for a sandwich than a proper steak. After that, the server kindly offered me the sirloin as well, but it was undercooked in the center, on the raw side and not properly prepared either. At that point, I didn't want to continue sending food back or making it more complicated, so I declined further replacements. The server did offer alternatives and remained very polite and accommodating throughout, which I genuinely appreciated. I also made sure to acknowledge the service to the manager because the staff was doing their best. However, the kitchen execution on multiple steak orders was inconsistent during this visit. This location has some history for me--it used to be Coco's back in the days, right across from the convalescent hospital where my mom passed away. I don't even know where to begin. First off I'm not one to leave reviews in general, but my experience here with my family was overall disgusting. We had gotten here pretty late like around 1am and just wanted a quick meal because we had been hanging out the whole night. There were a few customers around, but not too much to not be able to control. We got seated and given menus and then our waitress came after a few minutes to take our order. I'm not kidding it took almost an hour for 3/4 meals to come out. During that time we were waiting, nothing was ever communicated to us that there were gonna take long. What we did see were other customers being taken care of and us being completely ignored. There was a couple who got sat before for us and they had already gotten their food well before we ever did. Once 3/4 meals were brought up, I noticed that in one of my nachos, there was an eyelash on it. It didn't bother me that much since it was just one on one piece of tortilla chip so I let it slide, but still it was not nice to see. We were still waiting for the last meal to come and it never did. Everyone in my table pretty much finished their food except one person because they never got it. One of my family member even went up to who I'm assuming was the manager and asked how much longer it would be taken because we had been waiting for almost and hour to which his response was "mmmm I don't think that's how long you've been waiting." After not receiving the last meal, that family member went up to the counter and asked about their meal and also let them known that she had added extra stuff to her meal as well. To which the waitress looked confused??? Even though she was the one who had taken the order. The cook then proceeds to say that they will "do it right now" and can you guess what happened? NOTHING because it was never done! I also forgot to mention, when 3/4 meals were brought to us the waitress didn't hand us utensils, nor did she ever come up to our table to ask how we were or if everything was okay? But she definitely was going up to the other tables and bringing them their meals on time :) after waiting there for almost 3 hours, we decide to just take the last meal yo go because it was taking forever and we were pretty tired already.l, but guess what? Even THAT took a long ass time. After wanting for nothing pretty much, we decided to leave and go pay up front (we also did not receive our receipt) the girl in the front is ringing us out for 4 meals and I corrected her and told her it was actually just 3 and she response "oh so the last meal is to go?" And I said no it not we never received it and we actually don't even want it anymore, while you can see the waitress is STILL PREPARING IT!!! As someone who's worked in customer service before, I get it sometimes it's just one of those tough days, or a customer puts you in a bad mood. However, that does not give you the right to be rude and ignoring other customers just because. I'm one to own up to me being rude and disrespectful, but not once were any of us like that. If you count us getting upset and waking over to the register to ask about an UPDATE ON OUR FOOD as rude??? Then a service job is not for you. If I can rate this place 0 stars I would, never eat here, 100% do not recommended. Not even an apology about the wait or anything. We had been talking about taking advantage of kids eat free tuesdays for a while. I had seen a banner at this location just a few weeks ago. My husband looked up kids eat free Tuesday and we said let's do it! When we got there at 5:30 the place was deserted. There was only one table of four with 2 kids and the us. The restaurant looked like it had been renovated recently. It was nicely appointed and clean. We ordered and three more tables were occupied. There was only one server for the entire restaurant. When we tried getting his attention he did not acknowledge us a couple times and we had to ask for things a couple times. Make the long story short, the food was blah. My husband had a burger. We had four items from the kids menu. I had the Cobb salad. When I went to pay, it was over $100! The food is so so expensive here and so mediocre. They have a $20 burger. Dennys took over Cocos years ago, and this past week was my first visit in since. I was craving sandwiches and it was one of the few places open during the holidays. Ordered the new chicken sandwich and pot roast melt with seasoned fries. It was salt overload. The new strawberry sparkler with strawberry puree on the bottom was delicious. Highly recommend that drink. Service was wonderful with so much attention to detail. The establishment was clean and a great spot to host meetings. Denny's has their own parking lot, and if you're looking to host events, they're likely to be able to accomodate larger parties too. read more

The service is great and the restaurant has a nice vibe for a "Denny's" that I cannot explain. Came here for a late night eat because I had been at an all day music festival nearby and I was starving and tired. When we arrived it was not bad in terms of amount of tables filled about 4 but soon they started to leave but as soon as they left a ton of quinceañeras and graduation folks started to arrive and despite the place filling up we had pretty good service! The food was good but the service was the issue. My friends and I are teenagers and we decided to go get breakfast. It was somewhat busy so maybe that's the reason but I also think it's because we are kids. I feel they assumed we weren't going to pay. My friends tried to ask for a refill 5 times and they glanced at her then ignored her. They eventually gave it to her but it took a while. They also said no refills after we had asked again even though others got multiple refills. No one checked on us or asked if we needed anything. I've had breakfast here. This was my first time getting dinner. It was really rough. First of all, it was freezing cold in the restaurant. I ordered the Salmon dinner. I can only eat soft foods right now so I got the mashed potatoes and Mac and cheese (70 cents extra). The salmon was alright. Nothing special. Both sides were cold. I was so excited when this Denny's opened in the neighborhood. They were not very busy as there were about 6 other parties and plenty of staff. My family and I were seated by an older gentleman in a black shirt. After waiting for 20 minutes to be acknowledged, I watched a couple get seated, get their drinks ordered, and get their food ordered. At this point, I was over it and decided to order on the app- we stayed in the seats to see if they would even notice us... by 37 minutes of waiting, my online order was ready. I proceeded to the front, where I let a server know what the situation was as I asked for my order. She asked me who seated me, and as I described the man, she stated that was their MANAGER, ROBERTO... I got the "value slam" of 2 eggs, sausage links and 2 pancakes. The pancakes were amazing! I had low expectations for the pancakes at Denny's, but they were light and fluffy and had the right amount of "chew", and flavorful. The only thing is the syrup isn't great. Would it be acceptable to bring your own syrup there? The eggs were scrambled a little too hard, but they were fine, and the sausage was ok. But the pancakes. I have to go back. And the "value slam" is a great deal, especially if you don't have a huge appetite and can't keep down more than 2 big pancakes. This brand new Denny's opened on Monday, April 24, 2023. It is the same location as the former Coco's restaurant, however, they have completely remodeled the interior and everything is brand new. I went there last night to give the place a try and it was a great experience. I sat at the long counter near the front entrance, and the waiter who served me was brand new and only on his second shift at the new restaurant. He was very attentive and extremely polite which is all a customer could ask for. There were two older employees wearing red shirts who appeared to be training all of the new employees, and I kept watching them all huddle together as a group multiple times as the older employees in the red shirts appeared to be teaching the new employees how to do things. I ordered a Cobb salad and a Super Bird sandwich. The salad was fresh and presented well on the plate it came on. The sandwich was hot right off the grill and was delicious. I also ordered a Coke and every time my waiter saw that the glass was near empty, he brought me a refill. Came at night to get dessert with friends, they asked what drink to order and we ordered coffee, then when it came to order we wanted 3 apple crisp dessert and they were sold out, so we called the Alhambra Location and they told us they had them there, so we decided to leave (to go to Denny's in Alhambra) barely even touch the coffee and they forced us to pay the full amount, we were only there for 3 minutes, this reflect bad customer service and waitress had no empathy.
