This is the perfect place to have a comfort meal at any time of day. The atmosphere is noisy enough for families but enough to chat with friends. I was able to sit at the counter for my visit. My favorite seat just to observe the dishes coming out hot. Watching pies get sliced and the delicious portions. Best spot to keep your coffee fresh and refilled. The service is welcoming and will share preferences. Breakfast for two was about $50 with two coffees. I definitely would like to come back and review more items for lunch or dinner. Parking gets busy and filled but there are residential streets you can park on just be polite of the residents.

It was our first time going to this place and it didn't disappoint. I got the mushroom omelette with blue cheese and pesto sauce and it was delicious. The OJ is pretty pricey for the size but it is okay. We will definitely come back with the whole family.

I forgot how good this place was! (Last time I was here was during the Pandemic.) Came here on Saturday around 1:30p, no wait. Had the Brisket Reuben - Bread was toasty, so good! (I'd come back just for that.) Coffee was freshly Brewed - one of the main things I look forward to at a diner. Pancakes were light & airy w/syrup that had a little cinnamon-ey flavor to it. My mom had the omelet - eggs were fluffy. Good vibe. I give it an 8 out of 10.

Warm energy, delicious food. Got the Roasted mushroom omelet & my son got the pancakes + fries. Best FRIES weve ever had (I'm not being Dramatic) thin, perfectly salted & crispy with skin on. Omelet was delicious, cooked well & flavorful. Really loved the crispy house potatoes. We loved the fluffy pancakes. It has a small parking lot, about 10 tables, bar seating & outdoor seating (was pretty busy during Sat breakfast). Prices are fair and staff was nice.

Having lived in L.A. since 1991, I had never tried this place. I wish I would have sooner, I would have loved to have seen what it looked like then, but nowadays, it's so charming and beautifully restored to mid-century glory. I love this era and Cindy's is an aesthetic treasure. Son and I dropped in for lunch on a Friday (I had taken the day off) and were seated right away. I can imagine it would be so busy during dinner hours and weekends, but I'm glad I got to experience it during a not so busy time. There were people, but it wasn't packed, which is just fine with me. Our waitress was really nice, she had a retro style which was so cute and fitting for the restaurant, so I can tell she appreciates the Mid-Century era too. I had the fried egg sandwich which was so good! Son had the BLT and he liked it too. The only thing I would say is this is not a regular diner, like say a Norm's or Bob's Big Boy. This is a "fancy" diner and the prices reflect that, but I'd say it's worth the experience.

I've been coming to Fox's in Altadena for a long time. I am terribly saddened by its loss in the fires. I used to eat at Firefly in Pasadena, also owned by the same great restauranteur, Paul Rosenbluh. Some research led me to Cindy's in Eagle Rock. What a fantastic coffee shop! Old-fashioned diner atmosphere and lots of good Southern eats. Service is great, decor is adorable, and menu is fantastic. Food is delicious. Cindy's makes me feel like the world was before the Internet. I miss those days. Cindy's brings it back to life.

    Ordered Coke got Pepsi

Cindy's - Eagle Rock, CA Visited 1/28/2016 at 12:20 PM Cindy's is... fine, I guess, if you're into overpriced, average diner food wrapped in hipster attitude. The food itself was nothing special--basic, middle-of-the-road diner fare that absolutely doesn't justify the prices. Case in point: I ordered a Coke, paid $3.95, and was given a Pepsi. You know the saying: "Is Pepsi okay?" Except nobody asked. At almost four bucks, that matters. Service was wildly inconsistent. The male server with tattoos was actually very nice--friendly, helpful, and professional. Unfortunately, the experience took a dive thanks to an older woman with long red hair who was openly rude. I asked for jelly, and she responded in a condescending tone, "You mean jam?" As if that's some shocking culinary faux pas. I may not eat here often, but let's be real--you knew exactly what I meant. She rolled her eyes and returned with a thimble-sized portion of house-made jam and an attitude to match. Overall, Cindy's feels like what Eagle Rock/Highland Park considers "slumming it"--a place where hipsters can pretend they're mixing with the working class without actually catering to them. Unfortunately, it leans far more hipster than worker, and the service reflects that disconnect. If that's your scene, you might enjoy it. If not, there are better diners with better food, better prices, and way less eye-rolling.

This was my first time coming to Cindy's and it did not disappoint! I ordered the brisket hash and a side order of 1 pancake. My dad ordered the smoked Ruben sandwich. The brisket hash was AMAZING. The flavor of the brisket was delicious along with the veggies! The only thing that I was not a fan of were the beans. I will definitely be ordering the brisket hash again! My dad also really liked his sandwich and the side salad it came with! The pancake also tasted really good! I will definitely be back whenever I am in the area!

    Veggie burger of the day

Best veggie burgers in LA! They offer a special each day - they're always thoughtfully created and DELICIOUS! People who don't like veggie burgers - this place will change your mind. Everything else is great including the vibes and service.

This was the best breakfast I've had in years! We went on a weekend and expected to wait, but managed to get 2 seats at the counter. In front of us, cute merch. It was packed and all the servers and bus boys were hustling! We were quickly greeted and drink orders taken. The food arrived and omg the Green Goddess Omelette was amazing! I asked to add mushrooms and YUM! My son ordered a Brisket Hash and he said it was also EXACTLY what he was craving - although didn't know it until he saw it on the menu and it was so good! Our coffees were refilled without waiting for it, despite it being so busy. The busboy kept coffees and waters full. We were in n out within an hour on a busy weekend. Everyone was friendly and in good spirits which can be challenging to find when it's that busy. Really cute merch too.

My girlfriends and I came here to do book club and share many slices of pie!! First off, yes to parking. I'd come here solely for that reason. A private lot that's free? Say no more!!! Second, the service was wonderful and everyone here was so nice. :) As for food, we didn't really try anything substantial and instead went for coffee and pie! Nothing wrong w that! :) the slices are nicely sized and satisfy the sweet tooth. It was fun to try many different kinds together! You can't go wrong w any of them! The ambiance is pretty cool. I love diners and this had all the vibes. Bathroom is outdoor.

Not much needs to be said about Cindy's, it's an eagle rock institution. I love everything about this place. The diner feel goods it leaves you with is the best. This place is small and busy, so getting there early especially on a weekend is recommended. The staff is so sweet and good. I've only been there for breakfast which is the best. I really don't think there is anything that is not good on this menu. This morning my husband ordered the green goddess omelette. This comes with a lot of green veggies like asparagus, spinach etc (not really my thing) wow was it good. I got the Noah's ark breakfast which came with 2 eggs, 2 pieces of bacon, and 2 slices pancakes which I subbed for a waffle. I inhaled that food it was so good, and the waffle had just the right amount of powdered sugar added on top. Next time I come in I want to indulge and try one of their homemade cakes and or pies. They all look so devine displayed on the counter right in front of you while you eat at the countertop.

    Braised pork shank. Delicious.
    Steven L.

Diner far exceeded expectations here. We had the braised pork shank, and the shrimp and grits. Both were delicious, worthy of much fancier and more expensive restaurants. The service was caring m, friendly, and responsive. Can't wait to return!
