This diner is located in the Delphi hotel in dtla. I was looking for a quick breakfast and decided on coming here. Valet is $15 and convenient so I paid it! The diner is super cute and classy. I was excited to try their food because who doesn't love old school diner comfort food. I ordered the Denae's Slam which came with eggs, chicken sausage, a biscuit and I added 3 pancakes for $7. My girlfriend ordered the Griffith Biscuits and gravy which included a sunny side up egg and gravy topped over the biscuit. Everything I ate was bland and the sausage was overcooked and barely edible. The pancakes my goodness were similar to the ones you can warm up in the microwave except this batter had an overwhelming artificial lemon flavor in it. They were dense and lacked volume. My girlfriend tasted my meal and agreed! I definitely wouldn't come back but, maybe you'll like it. As far as service, it wasn't spectacular. Our server didn't check if we were enjoying our meal and overall was a bit slow. The ambiance is too aesthetically appealing for the food to be sooooo mid. I wish I was wrong. I still recommend coming for the experience but, don't be surprised when the food was just okay.

We're in town for the weekend and was craving an American style breakfast. We came across Denae's diner which was a 5 min walk from our hotel. The vibe once you walk in is very bright, lots of colors and has a Latin influence. We ordered the Denae's Slam, La Brea, Oatmeal and the stack of pancakes. I ordered the La Brea, unfortunately I asked for my eggs over easy and they came out poached which is a down side. The overall brisket was good and crispy on the outside. The hashbrowns that came with it were lukewarm and not crispy like how I asked. Overall 2/5 stars. But the rest of the dishes such as the Denae's slam and pancakes were good. I would come back but I need the service to be better and more focused on the details of what the customer is ordering,

This is the best hotel/bar/restaurant for your value! Bang for your buck, the vibe and interior design will catch your eyes and elevate your experience. The service was quick, extremely friendly and attentive, and did not shy away from providing excellent menu or itinerary recommendations. We had brunch, dinner, and diner/bar top service for the three days we stayed at the Delphi and visited Denae's each day. Our bartender Jacqui is a stand out! We appreciate her for making great conversations and even better drinks. The prices are fair for DTLA and the drinks were tasty. See the photos for the interior and drinks!

Denae's Diner is the restaurant located inside of the Delphi Hotel, so when my parents stayed there while visiting us, a spot they wanted to grab some breakfast. We came here on two separate occasions and decided to sit outside. The place itself is pretty nice, offering booths inside and some nice tables on the outside. I had dinner here sometime last year and truly don't remember the experience, and since the rooftop bar opened up I don't even think this place does dinner anymore, so let's focus on breakfast. The menu has all the breakfast classics from omelettes and eggs to bacon and sausage. I settled on ordering the biscuits and gravy with some scrambled eggs on the top of it. The food came out in a semi-quick amount of time and it was as "fine" as something possibly could have been. The eggs were scrambled well, while the biscuits and gravy had some really okay flavour and not something I need again, but it wasn't bad at all. Overall, Denae's Diner was a solid place to grab some breakfast and thanks to it's extremely convenient location, one I'll probably have again in the future. The best part of this place has been the staff on each visit, always super friendly and helpful. I definitely plan on coming back for some lunch and seeing what the rest of the menu has to offer.

Cute diner located in the Delphi hotel in downtown LA. Very friendly and attentive staff and good easy diner food. Also cheap mimosas that won't killer your wallet! Cute space with cheap mimosas definitely a place to come with friends. Also they have a cute outdoor eating area.

    Banana pudding

Dined in on 2/20/25 around 9:26 PM. This review is only for the banana pudding - I thought it was very watery and thick. It resembled more of a banana milkshake with banana bread on the bottom. With that being said, I thought the banana flavor was definitely present, there were a few bits of a banana in it, and the presentation of the pudding was quite pretty. The cold water was very tasty here. Service was phenomenal and quick, the staff were very nice. On Thursday nights there is jazz in the lobby so it can get quite loud upon entering and going to the bathroom. Bathrooms were clean and snazzy, street and metered parking is always a miss in this area so a nearby parking lot is probably your best option.

I almost want to tell no one about this place, but I'm always blown away so here it goes. Denae's is found on the first floor of what used to be the standard hotel. From the groovy tunes to the insanely good cereal killer aperol drink, this place is truly a hidden gem that you'll have to see and experience for yourself. They also have an amazing steak frites that serves better than about half of the restaurants in LA with it on their menu. I would absolutely recommend everything here, so check it out!

While exploring downtown LA, we decided to give Denae's Diner a try -- but unfortunately, it didn't quite hit the mark. Parking? A Headache! There's no on-site parking -- it's valet only, and they don't validate, which means you're stuck paying $15+ just to park. Definitely not budget-friendly! The Food? Meh. After waiting a few minutes, we got seated. The menu had potential, but sadly, the dishes we tried were just average at best. Nothing that made us go "wow" or feel like it was worth the price. Not Worth the Splurge Between the parking fee, the underwhelming food, and the extra charges, this stop just didn't feel worth it. We won't be returning -- there are way better spots in DTLA with good vibes and better value.

This review is long overdue. Denae's Diner stole my heart from the moment I walked in. We stopped to eat at around 11PM. The place feels like a stylish time capsule; mid-century modern meets upscale retro. From the marble dining tables to the living plant wall and the mid-century modern light fixtures, this place has incredible ambience. I appreciate that the owner and designer put so much thought and care into the furniture and aesthetic choices. We were greeted by a chipper, sweet waitress who didn't bat an eye at our late-night arrival, just an hour before closing. Her cheerful demeanor made us feel more like welcomed guests than a last-minute inconvenience, and that energy set the tone for the entire experience. We ordered a black coffee, a hot mocha, Eloy's Chilaquiles, the Black Dahlia, and a slice of Blueberry Cheese Pie. Every dish that landed on our table was flavorful, and deeply satisfying. If I could've ordered more, I would have. The entire menu was tempting. The vibe was only enhanced by the incredible playlist humming through the space. Cheers to whoever put it together. It was the perfect soundtrack for our meal and for the vibe of the restaurant. Denae's Diner left such an impression that even months later, I'm still thinking about it. Chic, attention to detail, and absolutely delicious. Denae's is the place is the late-night gem you hope to stumble upon, but so good for any time of the day. I am looking forward to going back each time I visit L.A.

    Crispy Chicken Sandwich

Was staying at the hotel, so I popped in for a quick bite before heading off to a conference. The place is old school diner themed which is a cool vibe. While the restaurant wasn't too crowded they seemingly had one server who was stretched thin-covering tables inside and outside. They ended up having to ask the hostess to begin serving tables, while the managers were helping to clean table. YIKES! I ordered the Spicy Chicken Sandwich. The sandwich was made with dark meat and oddly thin which I wasn't expecting. The batter on the chicken was quite flavorless. Actually, come to think about it, despite the many components of the sandwich nothing was standout and not that good of a bite. Best part of the meal was the fries. Upon hotel check in, I was told I would receive a credit for the restaurant on premise, but upon receiving the check then being asked if I was staying at the hotel-no discount. I was only asked if I wanted to charge it to the room. Nonetheless, I didn't dispute it, I decided to just pay and tip well over 20% because my waitress deserved it with the way she was being pulled in many directions. I hope this review is insightful. Cheers to a great time!

Me and my husband stayed in the hotel and had breakfast at dene's Diner and OMG it was amazing . The pancakes with strawberry butter soooo good , Hazelnut cappuccino is a must try the best i had ever had .

We went to Danae's diner for their cute little Christmas Miracle pop up. They had areas to sit in inside the and outside and inside the restaurant was very a very cute diner aesthetic with cute Christmas decorations everywhere. The service was great everyone was super nice. The cocktails we had for Xmas time were perfectly balanced and very tasty as well as the food, we had the fried chicken sandwich and turkey sandwich. We'd definitely check it out again if in the area. It's located inside a hotel in downtown so parking can be a little tricky but when we went we easily found a metered spot

    Wilshire BEC
    Brian T.

This spot is in the heart of DTLA yet is so well hidden that you'd never expect to find it. It's located in the lobby of the Delphi Hotel. They have spectacular breakfast/brunch food. I ordered the Wilshire BEC. This is a well done croissant sandwich with eggs, cheese, bacon and tater tots in it. The sandwich is well compacted and very clean. The croissant does not crumbel or get messy. The bacon, eggs, tater tots are soft and cooked just perfectly. Servers are kind and the place has a nice patio which is hidden from the view of the streets of dtla. The prices are very reasonable as well.

Was a cook at a high volume restaurant for years and neither of these burgers would have gone out of our kitchen. Had actual pride in what we put out. Very disappointing visit. You can go to a run down old diner in any city, but this is the city of the stars. On this trip even though we were already heading to the establishment it must have been an extra slow day because someone was out on the boulevard trying to direct traffic to the restaurant. About 1/3 of the tables were full when we walked in, and it took a few minutes for us to be seen and seated. The wait staff is perhaps a bit understaffed to really be at their best. Our server did not explain much to us as far as the jukebox at our table, if we could use it and how... it would have been nice to know that. I ordered a Caesar salad and a coffee milkshake. When the server asked me if I wanted a small or large salad I asked what the difference in size was, since it wasn't explained on the menu to which they just kind of shrugged at me. Regardless of the perhaps lackluster service I really loved my food, the true, lived in vintage aesthetic and overall experience. Is 10.25 perhaps a bit expensive for a milkshake, i'd say so....but considering the overpriced reality of any trip to Hollywood I think it's something I would not regret spending my money on. Even though I can see why someone would rate this spot a 3, I simply cannot let my own rating fall below a 5 because I know the next time I'm in town it will be looming in my mind as the ideal place to feed my belly and nostalgic heart.

He greeted us with a smile, got our drinks out right away, and made sure everything was taken care of. All of our food came out hot and delicious--the short rib grilled cheese was amazing, and the chili was fire! The reason for the lower rating has nothing to do with Jimmy--it's the lack of teamwork. He was doing everything on his own, even helping with other servers' tables and greeting guests at the door. Meanwhile, other staff members were just standing around, moving slowly, and not offering any support. At one point, I asked another employee for creamer, and instead of helping, she just pointed at Jimmy. That really said it all. We honestly felt bad for him. Management should really address this, because the lack of teamwork at this location is noticeable and affects the overall experience. If you go here and want great service, definitely ask for Jimmy.

We were told to seat ourselves, given menus, and a busboy kindly brought us water. After that, we were completely ignored for about 10-15 minutes. No server came by to take our order until we had to flag someone down ourselves. It became clear that the two servers had both assumed the other person was taking care of our table. We ordered a slice of the Bavarian Chocolate Banana Cream pie and a slice of pecan pie. Surprisingly, it took quite a while for just two slices of pie to come out. When the pecan pie finally arrived, it was extremely hot, almost as if it had been microwaved too long. It had practically melted onto the plate, and the pecans had a rubbery texture that made it seem reheated. Once it cooled enough to eat without burning your mouth, the flavor itself was mediocre at best. The Bavarian Chocolate Banana Cream pie was somehow even worse. It tasted old, like it had been sitting refrigerated for days. The whipped cream around the edges was overly firm and bordering on dry. The only hint of "chocolate" was the faint beige-brown tint of the filling. On top of that, it had enormous chunks of banana that left literal holes in the filling when removed. Even the crust felt like an afterthought. We took a few bites, asked for the check, and left. For a place called House of Pies, this being our first impression, they may want to consider rebranding to just "House."

The staff there was hustling and moving non stop but were very friendly and accomodating. Nick's has a great classic diner ambiance. We got seated inside which was all bar seating. The lively atmosphere inside makes you feel like you're part of the kitchen, which I liked. They also had all these great vintage photos, art and merch hanging on their walls which really added some personality. They also have outside seating and tables that face spring street and the side of LA historic park. Now on to the food. We ordered the Eggs and Steak with a side of hashbrowns and toast, 1st Street Omelette with a side of hash browns and a biscuit, a grilled blueberry muffin and some coffee. Everything was pretty good, especially that grilled muffin. Also, make sure you ask for some house made blueberry jam for your toast or biscuit. You're welcome. They also have some great hot sauces to choose from. The only complaint we had was that the steak was over seasoned with salt that we had to scrape off the top. Other than that, the food was delicious, comforting, and hit the spot. We would definitely come back to try more of their popular menu items.
