I ordered a Chicken club on a sourdough sandwich, and it was very scrumptious. However, the price of this sandwich was a bit above market value like their other food menu. Service staff were cordial and competent. Atmosphere was very outdoorsy kinda vibe with Tele set. Overall, as a first time visit I had a pleasant visit and enjoyed their sandwich. The food is good, but the tables are sticky and need to be wiped down. You bus your own tables when you're done eating. I was in need of a quick lunch and decided to check out this barbecue spot. There was a lunch menu with a great deal of $20 and I ordered the Bbq Chicken Club with your choice of side dish. I asked which side was the most popular and the cashier said they were all good lol unfortunately, he wasn't too excited to provide details so I went with the Mac n cheese. The service is not efficient, it took about 15-20 minutes to get my order. The group I was with ordered the same special I did and we found that the ingredients in the club sandwich were not consistent. One sandwich had green tomatoes and avocado and another had no avocado or green tomato at all. The chicken breast was smoked and had great flavor however, it was over cooked! The sourdough bread was too toasty and extremely hard to bite into and fell apart too easily. I wasn't impressed with anything except that the Mac n cheese was decent. I definitely won't be back . First honest negative review but being somewhat of a BBQ connoisseur and having had true craft BBQ, I feel it's my duty to warn others. First off, I was told by an employee on a different day that they do meats by the 1/4 lb. On the day I actually go and order, this isn't the case. I wanted to try a bit of their 4 meats without doing a full platter with sides but whatever, it's fine, so I order a 1/2 lb of brisket and ribs to gauge the quality of the place. The meats are absolute trash; tough and dry. The only decent thing was the glaze on the ribs which was mediocre at best. No flavor in the meats other than that. A small handful of bland slaw for $6; Whole Foods has better slaw. Don't get me started on the michelada, of which I'm also a connoisseur of . It's $16 for a tasteless watered down house lager. Kind of my fault for not asking or noticing the bottles of "I love Micheladas" mix, which is also trash. You can get a better Michi for less at Far Bar which is not too far from there. Definitely will not return to try anything else. Perhaps it's just a problem with the GCM location but if the company truly cared about quality, they would allow this to tarnish their name and "reputation". You want actual good BBQ? Go try A's BBQ, Shourai BBQ, Moo's BBQ, Full Send BBQ, or Black Almond, both of which are nearby at smorgasburg on Sundays. Hell, I think even Lucille's is better than Maple Block. Service was alright but I noticed my food tray was ready before I was notified so I didn't get my food as "fresh" or as hot as it could have been. I used to frequent their culver city location before moving out of west LA and towards DTLA. I was very happy to find out that a location opened in Grand Central Market. First thing I noticed was that the menu differs from their original culver city location, with my favorite brisket sandwich + side option not being available. I ended up opting for just a pulled pork sandwich. The meat was flavorful and juicy, pairing well with the bbq sauce used. Even with all the wetness, the buns held the sandwich together without falling apart. Overall, good pulled pork sandwich. The bbq sauce is also very good, I would recommend to ask for extra since the meat doesn't come with bbq sauce on top already. The Mac N Cheese was good, I wish it was more thick and creamy, but mine was a bit more watery than cheesy. That being said it was still a good choice for a side. The Fries had a good crunch and well seasoned, another great choice for a side. The Corn bread was pretty average, I wouldn't go out of my way for it. That being said it wasn't a super dry corn bread either, it was a bit moist with some flavor, but still pretty basic. It comes with the combo and it's a nice shareable size. The ambiance is nice and casual with good music, definitely a good hangout spot. They have a good bar with a nice selection of beer. That tri-tip was so succulent, juicy, melt-in-your mouth that I ordered another for dinner! This is a special menu for Dine In LA only and it had a brioche bun, tri-tip, with onion rings, spicy BBQ sauce, and pickles inside the sando. The whole thing came together for a delicious combo. Outside of Dine In LA, the closest to this would be the brisket. There is plenty of tables on the patio and when I was there, the LAFD ladder truck was also there. Grand Central Market has a parking garage that charges $7 for the first 90 minutes; which isn't too bad. I thought the food was just okay though. Everything came out cold. My friend and I shared a combo plate consisting of tri tip, beef brisket, ranch beans, and mac and cheese. We also ordered an addition 1/4 rack of ribs. The tri tip was the best meat. It was soft and well-flavored. The beef brisket was super fatty, like 70% fat and 30% muscle; I did not like it. The ribs were overly seasoned, tough, and sooooo salty. I crave a thick juicy burger from time to time and so I wander to this Maple Block Meat Co. from time to time. The smashburgers get old for me sometimes. Unfortunately, they're inconsistent with their burger and service here is absent minded and they lack any care. The Block Burger.. 8 oz burger, thick not smashed, with American cheese, onion, pickles on a sesame potato bun has potential. You just don't know how over or undercooked this burger is but overall, the flavor is good at best. The service here is bad. On a recent visit on a slow and cold evening, I waited 30 minutes for a burger only to ask while others were waiting around. Until I saw others receive their order before me, I started to inquire and the burger was ready a while back. The chef indicated I was fob was buzzed and said he knew it was broken. If there was a bit of care, he should of called it out. I complained to the manager who is also the bartender who gave no apology and made an excuse that the buzzer was broken with a bit of arrogance. Honestly, this guy here is a piece of work. Every time I've been here, he ignores patrons who want to order and he cares more to finish off his conversations at the bar rather than take orders (on every occasion). Not even sure why I tip. It was a 15 minute walk that I thought was doable, however I soon found myself going down some streets that made me feel uncomfortable. I'd recommend taking an Uber or Lyft (which I did on the return trip). You order at the bar and pickup at the window. There's a big neon sign over the bar that says "Order here ya'll". So I did. Maybe I'm getting too old, but there was loud music playing which made it difficult to order (and talk). Ordered the 1/4 ribs, 6 smoked wings, and the creamy coleslaw. I was particularly interested in their white sauce that comes with the smoked wings. I picked up my order and brought it back to my hotel to eat. The ribs were fantastic. Super meaty and tender. Love the original location in Culver City but the last few times we came to DTLA the bartender BLASTED the music at ear splitting levels so you can't even hear the person right next to you.
