First time having hibachi in a burrito but it was hitting for sure on the late night run. I got the shrimp bachi-rito, a flour tortilla with your choice of fried or white rice, cheese, zucchini, mushroom, onion. Choice of drizzled sauce. Sub garlic noodles for rice for $1.50. I would come back and try Flamebachi again if ever in the area. The service was friendly and the ambiance was chill.

That top-notch good frequency food . Amazing customer service! Sauces on point with alkaline water ! Agua Fresca drinks!

The food is top-notch -- perfectly seasoned meats, tender vegetables, and the best fried rice I've had in a while. I highly recommend the NY steak and shrimp burrito, which was cooked to perfection and full of flavor. The portions are generous, so you definitely get your money's worth. Don't forget about the sauces too my favorite is the dragon sauce. I put it on everything. The service is exceptional too--Joey was knowledgeable and made great suggestions based on our preferences. Will be back soon!

Nice little seating area to enjoy your food.

Came in for the Bachi-bowls and definitely was not disappointed. The portions are more than enough and the flavor is so delicious. One of the best hibachi places we've been to!

We are beyond excited that FLAME BACHI has officially opened in the heart of Downtown LA! Hands down the best hibachi experience in the area. From the moment you walk in, you're greeted like family--everyone is so welcoming, and the customer service is truly top-notch. The menu is absolutely mouthwatering. It's so hard to choose because everything looks incredible, but we decided on the Lunch Trio (NY steak, chicken, and shrimp) and the Lunch Shrimp. Both were cooked to perfection and paired beautifully with their amazing sauces--Dragon, Agave, and Ginger. Every bite was a flavor explosion. DTLA has been craving a spot like this, and Flame Bachi delivered! Thank you for bringing your incredible food and energy to the neighborhood. We'll definitely be back (probably sooner than we should admit)! Highly recommend!

Really appreciate the upbeat customer service I got from Joey when I came to check this place out. I saw their Instagram posts and had to check it out. I got to try their shrimp burrito with the garlic noodles and jalapeño poppers for the side. My wife got the chicken bowl which went well with their smoked teriyaki sauce and their dragon sauce! I also got their filet mignon with their garlic butter to top it off for my lunch the next day and all I can say is that this was beyond my expectations. Hats off to the chef. Good frequency food for sure! Looking forward to my second visit for the breakfast menu!

The menu is New American with Chinese influences served as a four-course prix fixe set, with each course having three choices, and optional additions are available. (There is an à la carte menu available in the bar area.) I went very carnivorous on my selections, choosing the beef tongue carpaccio, duck sausage, and beef short rib. There was not a bad dish among these: The tongue was tender, soft, and delicate. The duck sausage was fantastically good as well; served with an apple jam atop Swiss chard, it was a sort of Chinese-Alpine fusion cuisine of which I never envisioned but instantly wanted more. While delicious, the short rib was overshadowed by its cabbage accompaniment. My server told me it takes four days to make that dish, and I would have happily ordered a full dish of just that. The kaffir lime curd dessert was light and balanced, perfect after the heavier meat courses and like a small vacation to Thailand on a plate. The one dish I did not love was the Chongqing fried chicken course I added. The chicken itself ― a boneless leg quarter ― was a large portion and well-prepared, but the sauce covering it was a thick layer of chilis (which, thankfully, were not inedibly hot) and straight oil, lots of oil. Eating so much oil like that made for gastrointestinal discomfort the rest of the night. The soy pickles helped cut the greasiness a bit, but they weren't vinegary enough to get that level of oiliness off the palate. The duck fat rice, though quite good, also did not help much given its fattiness. Given the chance, I definitely would have requested the oil-sauce on the side. I did appreciate the crunchiness of the batter, which never went soggy despite being soaked in that oily puddle for a long time. I did not find any wines by the glass that bowled me over, so I stuck to cocktails, which were good. Service was warm, personable but not intrusive, and brisk, while the room has the comfortable feel of a mid-century modern den complete with well-worn cookbooks on the shelves lining the walls. I would happily return to try the bar menu with cocktails or when the prix fixe options change. At $68 for four courses, Firstborn's prix fixe is one of the best fine dining offers in L.A. right now, and it makes a trek up to Chinatown worthwhile.

The pacific oysters are a good size and I really enjoyed the yuzu-kosho ponzu sauce on it. The spicy tuna crispy rice have a good amount of spicy tuna on top & I loved how crispy they made the rice underneath. The Kodo trio comes with uni, toro, & wagyu and the Toro sampler comes with o-toro, chu-toro, akami. All of these handrolls were phenomenal & just left you wanting more. The Wagyu katsu you cook on a hot stone at the table which I liked as an interactive dish. The Wagyu cheeseburger was dripping with juice but still had those crunchy edges. The Uni pasta was beautiful & delicious. The Chimichurri prawns I could eat multiple plates of- the shell comes sliced down the middle so you just have to peel it off. For dessert we ordered the Kodo basque cheesecake & Miso chocolate torte. I love a basque cheesecake & the sesame crumble added great texture. The miso chocolate torte made me wish I ordered my own. The tuna tartare tower was pretty basic, wasn't too special but enjoyable. The cheese fondue was a cheese lover's dream as it was truffle flavored and paired well with the cheese bread (as recommended) Honestly, the crackers provided was alright and they should sub it for something similar to the cheese bread. The star of the show was definitely the picanha as everyone orders. The chimichurri was a nice touch, and the small broccolini was decent, although definitely just for show. The mashed potatoes were nice and creamy! I also got the Brazilian soda which was interesting to try and pretty yummy! There are TVs at the bar, and people were there watching the World Cup. I enjoyed most of what I tried. My favorites were the shrimp à la casserole, picanha steak with chimichurri sauce, and branzino. Didn't really care for the tostada or Brussels sprouts. Their Brussels sprouts are pretty much only crispy leaves, instead of the traditional hearty sprouts. The passion fruit cheesecake was very good! Drinks were wel-made. I recommend the passion fruit caipirinha. Service was excellent. I highly recommend John Paul. Street parking is available very close to the restaurant but fills up fast. There is valet at the Biltmore Hotel (connected to the restaurant) for $50 or self parking in the garage for $15 after validation. Restrooms are an area for improvement and did not match the nice atmosphere of the dining space. Overall, this was an elevated restaurant with a fun atmosphere and an eclectic menu. Something here for everyone. I'll definitely be back to try the brunch and happy hour.
