I was seated at the bar first as I was waiting for my friends but the staff started chatting with me about life and the menu. I really appreciated the friendliness here! Once all my friend arrived, we were seated outside and ordered a bunch of fish and oyster tacos ($8 each). They were both delicious. The shrimp toast was also super yummy. The seafood platter was a must!! So fresh and so delicious! Definitely will be back to try more food. Every dish we got was very yummy. Definitely one of my favorite restaurants we've had in LA. Ordered: - Chowdaaa - So yummy. Honestly my favorite chowder I've ever had. Saw them seasoning it with fish sauce. I wouldn't have guess to do that but it works very well. - Silican Crudo - I always love a crudo. This is probably the 4th or 5th time we've dined here - and today was... not the best. The biggest issue was that the kitchen was clearly in the weeds, and our outdoor table took the brunt of that. People indoors seemed to be receiving their food just fine, but the larger tables outside suffered. For hours. We got pretty much zero communication on what was happening; it took almost 2+ hours to receive any cooked food whatsoever. The raw items came out 15-20 minutes into the meal, which meant that we sat for the majority of the time with no entrees and no updates. Keep in mind that one of the hot items we ordered was the clams and mussels - a steamed dish that was literally dumped into a bowl with a pile of raw garlic and fries on top. The broth had a strong alcohol taste that did not cook off. Super underwhelming and disappointing after the 2 hour wait. Moreover, dishes came out seemingly at random, so our table of 4 people ate at different times, with no coordination (I realize some items are family style here, but sandwiches are clearly not). It's not fun/convivial for everyone when some have already completed their meal, and others have not even taken a first bite of their entrees. Ultimately they did offer to take the bread and one tostada off or our bill. A concession, but by no means an acknowledgment of the unpleasant overall experience. Squeezed in a reaaally fast dinner here between open house visits and had a great time, everyone was super friendly and attentive since the high top tables are quite small. We were also trying to beat the 1 hr parking meter in the 4 hr parking zone (why?!) and managed to do that. Ordered à la carte oysters, which were from RI and Mexico this particular day. I was kind of hoping the Mexico ones were more like west coast oysters or gulf oysters cause I prefer both of those over east coast oysters. Sadly, no luck, both were quite briny with the ME ones slightly less so. The peel n eat prawns were good... but $7 a pop good? Not sure. Chowder was shockingly delicious and full of clam meat and potatoes. I might like this one more than the Hog Island chowder which has been my favorite for a long while. The scallop tostada and Sicilian crudo (halibut, salmon, scallop) were both fine but the fish & scallop tasted not super fresh? Not bad or anything, just kept getting a whiff of something fishy in both dishes. We didn't like the bread as much as we thought (fairly strong charred flavor and doesn't have a pillowy chew). I did love the anchovies though! $10 happy hour martinis are nice, and I enjoyed the champagne which was supposed to be "crisp biscuity goodness". Especially during happy hour which I believe is 4-6pm during the week. $10 dirty martinis, they are small but mighty so be careful. As for the food let's get into it: - Smoked Trout Dip (9/10) surprisingly one of our favorite dishes, packed a lot of flavor and paired perfect with the crackers. - Sicilian Crudo (10/10) I've had this at other places, but found oyster does it right. Will be adding caviar next time. - Oysters (8/10) prices were reasonable and the oysters themselves were delicious. I've been wanting to revisit Found Oyster for some time and decided check it out for an early evening dinner. I made a reservation for 4 PM (right at opening time) but probably could have just walked in given there were a lot of seats open and I was a solo diner. Service was scattered in the beginning, which I think was tied to the fact that the staff were still in their preparatory stages right after opening. While I enjoyed going there when it was not busy, I would probably come at a later time that is still on the early side (maybe between 4:30-5:30 PM) but when the employees are more in their groove. From 4 to 6 PM they offer discounted martinis along with some small plates at a reduced price. The prawn toast came with a mixture of seafood (whitefish, scallops, and prawn) and was a small bite that came with a perfectly crispy texture. The fried calamari was also well-made, and the tangy tartar sauce that came with the fried cod sandwich kept it bright and paired well with the fish (that was tender while maintaining a crunch exterior). I also sampled one each of the oysters available that evening, and it was fun watching the staff shuck them throughout the meal. It's sort of pricey, but that's because of all the fresh and amazing seafood. Lobster Bisque Roll: This is one of the best and smallest lobster rolls around. The brioche is lightly toasted and soft as a pillow on the inside. The large firm chunks of lobster are soft, delicate, and succulent. The lobster is subtly sweet and dripping in the juicy aioli sauce. The serrano peppers give tiny pops of heat. Between the soft lobster, crispy-fluffy bread, and snappy chives, this is textural perfection. The frites are at another level. They are extra crispy and soft. Maybe I'm imagining it, but they also taste like they've been dusted with prawn chip salt. Parking: Finding free street parking in the surrounding neighborhood is rather simple. read more

East Coast ones are very briney, but they were def nice and fresh here. The rest of the food and drink I didn't find worth it for the price. The crudo was $21 and really just made me crave the purity of sashimi. The smoked trout dip was good, but $26, served with ritz crackers, and gone in a few bites. The scallop tostada was $22 for a small, unshareable portion with flavors I found confusing. Yuzu, apple, and basil didn't end up tasting sophisticated with the scallop tostada, it felt like someone had dumped yuzu flavored apple sauce on it. Back then, they didn't take reservations, but I noticed recently that they started accepting reservations via Resy, so I made a reservation and my husband and I came here in March. Found Oyster is located in East Hollywood, on the same street where Saffy's is. It can be a bit hard to find street parking nearby because of neighborhood rules, but we managed to find a spot after circling a bit. The restaurant is very small, but it has both indoor and outdoor seating. I think the size of it adds to the charm. It also has a nautical theme inside and a New England feel about the place. The seating options inside are either at the bar, or tiny high-top tables. For appetizers, we shared the peel and eat prawns, half a dozen oysters and the sicilian crudo. Everything was good, but the servings were smaller than I expected. I also think that the peel and eat prawns would have been pretty mediocre without the special sauce. For mains, my husband got the lobster roll, while I had the mussels. His lobster roll was good, but in my experience it's hard to go wrong with buttered lobster on bread served with fries. Walk-ins are welcome but it is strongly advised to make reservations as the place isn't that big . Also if you want to take in the indoor restaurant vibes, book the resy. It's been a minute since I've indulged in seafood in LA. Honestly, it's usually not my vibe. I tend to crave seafood when I'm near the water--fresh air, ocean views, away from the city chaos. It's a whole mood. But I got invited to Found Oyster Bar, so here we are. First impression: damn, this place is tiny. They also have sidewalk seating, which definitely gives COVID-era vibes. We had a group of six, so outside seating it was. Cars passing by, cigarette smoke drifting from someone nearby--just not my ideal setting. Even our super kind and attentive server, Lily, was wearing a mask, which kind of added to that feeling. That said... the food quickly changed my attitude. We started with Grandma's Bread with butter, smoked salt, and white anchovies--and wow. Instant favorite. I never would've thought anchovies and butter on toast would work so well, but it absolutely does. Simple, salty, and addictive. Next up was the Baywatch platter, which came with a dozen of their two kinds of their oysters of the day, peel-and-eat shrimp, and Sicilian crudo. The oysters were amazing--savory, clean, and super fresh. Even my friend who normally doesn't eat raw oysters was pleasantly surprised by how much he didn't dislike them (which says a lot, lol). The crudo was solid--tuna, salmon, and yellowtail, I believe. We liked it enough to order a bigger one. This version had capers, olive oil, and a touch of crystallized salt that really hit with every bite. So good. The basic peel-and-eat shrimp was just okay--felt like it stayed in the pan a little too long and didn't have much going on flavor-wise. But the peel-and-eat shrimp with the special sauce? Completely different story. Perfectly cooked, shells came off easily, and that red sauce was insanely addictive. I don't even know what was in it, but it was so good that I ended up soaking it up with Grandma's Bread and topping it with anchovies--total flavor bomb. We also ordered the smoked trout dip, which was excellent. Paired perfectly with the crackers and honestly something I wished I could take home and snack on while watching TV. Came here over the summer before a concert - and it met/exceeded our expectations after checking out their yelp reviews and pictures! My favorite thing about this place was the unique offerings on their menu - lots of unique seafood options you wouldn't find elsewhere. If you're a seafood lover Found Oyster is a spot that's a must try. This is now one of my new favorite restaurants when I'm craving a taste of the sea. I've been a couple times in the last month and enjoyed my time there. It's an intimate spot with mainly counter seating so best for small groups or dates. Service has been friendly and the employees seem to enjoy working as they will converse with some of the guests. They have a tight menu with a majority of raw bar items such as oysters, crudo, shellfish, crab dip, sea urchin, etc. These are served on a silver tray on top of ice. They also have a chalkboard with the specials that will change daily. If you're not a seafood fan, they have steak. This is one of the places I can easily recommend to friends and will definitely be back. This tiny place packs a big punch. My friend and I came on a Sunday afternoon with reservations to sit at the bar, which I recommend, but they also have high top and outdoor seating. All of the staff were so friendly and gave recommendations. I like the format where any staff member can help you because we were able to interact with many of them. Our dozen oysters from the daily selection were so fresh and well-shucked. I was a bit surprised to find that they only had one type available, for a place with oyster in the name. The Sicilian Crudo took my breath away. The fish was so simply yet perfectly prepared with lemon and olive oil. I could have eaten plate after plate of this so I suggest you don't restrain yourself and go for the larger portion. Bub & Grandma's Bread with the addition of white anchovies also completely satisfied me. The combination of the creamy butter and salty fish on that bread was so good. I could have eaten these 2 dishes and been happy. We were recommended the Scallop Tostada by multiple servers but I wasn't a fan. I preferred the scallops in the crudo, as the yuzu kosho overpowered this dish and added an applesauce texture. It was also small for the price. The Chowdaaa for $9 was a nice and comforting way to round out our meal, along with one of their salads that was on the daily special. This is one of those little LA gems you almost walk past -- tiny, cozy, and always packed, but totally worth the wait. The seafood is crazy fresh and super clean in flavor. I had the scallop tostada (so bright and citrusy), a few oysters that tasted like they came straight out of the ocean, and the lobster roll, which was buttery perfection without being heavy. Service was friendly and attentive even though the place was slammed. You can tell the staff really know their seafood. I also had a wine tasting offered by our staff! Usually places don't give wine tasting's and pairing recommendations but they do know what they are doing! Still, it's one of my favorite seafood spots in LA. The raw bar is the highlight, you can order items by the piece, which means no pressure to commit to half a dozen or a dozen of the same thing. We tried 2 mussels, 12 oysters, 2 littleneck clams, and 2 shrimp. Everything tasted fresh, clean, and briny, the way good seafood should be. From the kitchen, we had the summer bean salad, lobster roll (comes with fries), scallop tostada, and ended the meal with a slice of chocolate pie. The tostada was the only miss for me, way too sweet without any tartness but everything else was excellent. And you have to ask for a side of their homemade butter milk sauce for the fries if you like ranch (which they don't have)....the buttermilk was DELISH!! They have 1 non-alcoholic "champagne" (didn't catch the name) available, so I had a glass...it was light, crisp, and cider-like. Hope this helps someone since NA drinks don't pop up in reviews much when I go searching for it. One note: parking looks awful in the area, but I took a rideshare so can't fully comment. I'm no raw seafood bar layout and interior design connoisseur, but this place kind of reminds me of a modern version -with a very similar layout - of my favorite place to get oysters and other seafood items in SF (Swan Oyster Depot) Also just a heads up: as of early 2025, they now take reservations. I personally didn't have one, but I was by myself and came here hoping I could get squeezed in somewhere. Within about 10 mins of putting my name on the list, a spot opened at the end of the bar (my favorite spots at most eateries!) All the folks here I interacted with - from the host, to everyone behind the bar taking my order/prepping my food, etc. is just a delight. They were very helpful when I had questions. I got a quick breakdown, and although I want to comeback to try some of the more shareable items and just the oysters in general with a small group, on this trip I ordered a lobster roll, a clam chowder, and a beer. The lobster roll was very fresh and had a light coat of dressing that didn't take away from the main ingredient. The roll was buttery and soft with a slight crisp from a light toasting. Reservations are helpful to snag an indoor seat for this quaint neighborhood restaurant. Found Oyster offers an assortment of raw bar and cooked options. We ordered the chowder, scallop tostada, 12 oysters, and the tuna crudo from their specials menu. All dishes were individually tasty with the standout being the crudo and tostada which had a little heat. Chowder is not the typical creamy type, it had a broth-like texture packed with clams and softened potatoes. Service is especially attentive, we sat at the bar where the chef answered all of our questions and gave us some of his recommendations. At the end of our meal we had the chocolate chess pie, which the restaurant out sources from a local bakery named Fat and Flour. Found Oyster is one of those places where everything on the table feels like a hit. We came based on a few recs, and every single one delivered. The grilled prawn special stole the show--the prawns were smoky, juicy, and came in a buttery sauce that was absolutely to die for. We dipped fries and our cod sandwich in it. It was that good. The smoked trout dip with Ritz crackers was creamy, smoky, and nostalgic in the best way. The Sicilian crudo was bright, simple, and perfectly seasoned with capers for that salty kick. And their fried cod sandwich was crisp, flaky, and super satisfying without being heavy. Of course, the oysters were excellent--fresh, briny, and beautifully presented. The vibe is cozy and casual, but the food is special. Service was warm and on point. We're already planning a return trip to try the scallop tostada, their steak, and more of their rotating specials--can't wait to see what's on the menu next time! read more

We came here on a Thursday night and it was really busy. The inside of the restaurant is really small so it can't really accommodate large parties but they had outside tables and that's where our party of 4 were seated. Quite possibly the best seafood I have had in Los Angeles. We shared the overboard platter, scallop tostada, and hanger steak and every bite was incredible. It's a tiny joint and it fills up quick so I would recommend getting here early to put your name down. It ended up being an hour wait so we decided to get a cocktail at the bar down the street which worked perfectly. The service was awesome as we were constantly checked on by the staff who were all so friendly. Will definitely be returning! read more

This place was recommended by a trusted friend who likes to circle Los Angeles for good food, oftentimes a Michelin recognized restaurant. He was right. This place did not disappoint. I went for my birthday, just me and my work bestie. We sat outside. Despite the honking horns n such, the evening weather made outside wonderful. Nice music. Found parking quickly. A plus. I ordered the lobster roll and she got the pan-seared tuna. Both excellent. She also got a cup of the clam chowder which was excellent. We started and ended with oysters. Personally, I liked both sources: New England and Canada. I didn't have a preference. But we ordered more of the New England oysters. We got a beer and it went perfect with the meal. We had great food, the specials (smelts and tuna aguachile) were a welcome surprise. The crudo was top notch as well. The clams were good, I would have preferred them simply with vinegar and onions but nothing wrong with what we had in a more Asian oriented flavor. I had been looking forward to this restaurant for a few months and I finally took my best friend to celebrate his belated birthday because he lives oysters. So we went on Saturday May 23 without a reservation. Which was fine we waited about 45 mins to be seated. Everything was fine as we ordered the Baywatch platter and we were thoroughly enjoying it with a nice beer. The oyster incredibly fresh and good. The peel and eat prawns, delicious! To be honest I came here for the Sicilian crudo, I couldn't wait to try it. It was as delicious as I expected, with one exception on our last bite of the scallop, I tasted an unusual flavor in the scallop almost like fermentation but I hoped that it was the lemon and just swallowed the bite...I shouldn't have. My friend said he experienced the same thing and felt bad spitting it out, so he also downed it with the beer. We should have known better. As soon as we got home we immediately took natural carbon pills to counter attack any bacteria. It helped, but we still ended up paying the price for a couple of days. I know it was a very busy day when we were there but whoever was handling the scallops should have been able to tell by the smell and feel of the product that it was not up to par. I am a fan of crudos and have had many kinds, in many restaurants and in many countries and have been lucky I guess that, I have not had a bad experience until now. Just a recommendation that your seafood handlers be more careful. If it wouldn't of been for that incident I would have given you a 10 out of 10 read more

The entire staff was very knowledgable about celiac and there were plenty of options for tamari instead of soy sauce. There is a dedicated fryer for their delicious French fries. Overall good gluten free options and if I were a rich man I would eat here way more. read more

Clam chowder is awesome. Mussel and frites (one of my favorites in general) was so salty I genuinely think it was an accident? But i couldnt eat more than 5 small bites.
