Came here with my girlfriend for our 2nd anniversary and was absolutely blown away. From the start the intimate feeling and atmosphere of the restaurant set the mood. The owner Octavio was great from the start and I was beyond impressed with his service while preparing the food at the same time and juggling multiple guests. We got a couple orders of Scallops on the half shell with the sea urchin added on top (i forgot the name of it on the menu), a half dozen oysters, the shrimp aguachile (green option), and then we were gonna get the striped sea bass crudo, but he was out out of the striped sea bass which he subbed for tuna after checking if it was ok with us. Overall this was some of the best, if not the best seafood I have ever had in my life. He also gave us a couple of peanut butter balls for our anniversary which unfortunately I could not have since they contained cashew milk which i appreciated him letting me know (he checked for any allergies before we ordered which i find rare and much appreciated as someone with tree nut allergies), but my girlfriend loved them. A phenomenal experience from the quality of the food to the service. We came in for an early reservation (be sure to make one since they will not take walk ins if full). The seafood here was all fresh and delicious. Favorite bites are the tuna uni - they didn't have cones the day we were there but the chip was just as good. Crab legs were fresh. Went with my friends for a dinner in the city. Y'all were not kidding when you say it's run by one person. Chef was doing it all for a space that can hold 25-30 people. Heeding your warnings I made sure my companions understood this prior to in order to manage their expectations. We arrived for our 7:30 reservation and the restaurant was almost at capacity. Go here with folks you can have a leisurely meal with because there will be lulls in when chef can touch our table. There wasn't any sake for sake cocktails and we got the last beer for micheladas for our Saturday meal. Loved the ceviches. Lots of flavor...lots of fun. This was my second visit to Ceviche Project and I was not disappointed. It was a quick meal with a friend so I only got one photo because we were busy talking. I was a bit shocked that we were the only guests on a busy weekend night but thankfully more showed up before we left. We ordered a couple of Scallops, a Ceviche and two Tostadas. The scallops were okay, nothing to write home about. They were on the small side. The toppings kind of overpowered the scallops so I missed that tender sweetness they are known for. The highlight of the meal was the ceviche. It came bathed in a delicious pineapple based marinade that had the perfect amount of heat. The octopus tostada was delicious but hard to eat. The mound of octopus and veggies was piled so high that we ended up using plain tostadas to spoon on a bite at a time. The kanpachi tostada was just okay, nothing bad but not great. Stopped by very excited to try this place. The inside was full of people (but all tables outside were completely empty and we arrived right at open) so we walked up to inquire. Staff/possible owner were extremely unfriendly and rude. They basically would not speak to us and did not seem interested in customer service in the slightest. If you've tried Holbox, you might get a similar vibe but consider the difference in quantity. Service is friendly and the shop is definitely cute and small enough to make small talk with the waiter and cook. As for food, I'd say it's great but not amazing compared to its price. Aesthetically pleasing and unique combinations are the main draw for me, but I can't help but to think how much better I can get from Holbox with the same/lower price point! I don't regret the scallops with uni, oysters, yellowtail, aguachile, and kanpachi.. it's just that I wouldn't necessarily be thrilled to be back. My friends and I came to Ceviche project as it's been on my to try list. The place is cute and intimate. The food was excellent, we got the green agua chile, snapper ceviche, toro salmon , and sea bass. It was served with home made tostada. I was really impressed with the flavor and the quality of fish. I was expecting everything to be sour from the citrus typically used in ceviche but they did a beautiful job in creating subtle and delicious flavors. The food looked great as well! The food was good, but the owner was rude and very passive-aggressive. The worst part was the hard-to-hide disgust he had for us whenever we asked him questions or asked for something. We were genuinely excited to eat here, and we're huge supporters of local businesses. Unfortunately, we're also big believers in "when someone shows you who they are, believe them" - because of his attitude and demeanor, we're never eating here again. I am very sad to say , I was disappointed with lack of flavor. We ordered almost the same stuff as we ordered last time. Except, it was being made by the owner this time. All the items were lacking salt. The flavors were not there at all. The owner was not friendly either . He was dry, and kind of down in mood, minding his own business. Last time's experience was something else. Both food and service were mediocre this time. It was more like ok hurry up , eat and GTHO kind of a feeling. The drinks and food seemed premade, and nothing really stood out, especially considering the price. While it's on a busy street, they have a private parking lot for these businesses, which is nice. It has a small, intimate setting. The tostada can be for one person or easily split into two to share. Bring some friends so you can try several of their dishes. Everything was delicious! My favorite was the scallop with uni- it was so sweet and paired so well with the uni. They have a housemade habanero oil that provides the perfect kick to their oysters. Unfortunately, had a bad experience here with regards to terrible service. Ordered five dishes and only three showed up and about an hour. Asked about the other two, and a half hour later another showed up. The server forgot. Then ask about the fifth dish and a half hour later he came back and said they were out. Had to ask repeatedly for water, refills, and the whole time the waiter just seemed annoyed to even be helping us. The food was very good, but the portions are incredibly small, and the prices are really high so for $140 you leave hungry. On top of that they add automatic 18% gratuity, which I am normally fine with unless the service is absolutely terrible like it was. read more

Just tried to go as a single person for a meal alone for my birthday. I was planning on treating myself to a pretty big, spendy meal. The restaurant was half empty with three tables seated inside, no one outside and no one at the fairly large bar. I was treated pretty badly. Or perhaps I should say, with disdain as a chore to be dealt with. The server was pretty uninterested in seating me and gave me only one option of a specific seat at the bar to sit at. The space was tight and I'm a big guy and it would have put me directly in the path of egress and I offered to sit a bit more out of the way so I wouldn't be a nuisance and was shot down pretty intensely. I'm a huge and effusive supporter of local businesses. I love to sing a places praises and encourage my friends to become patrons so small businesses succeed especially in my very small neighborhood. But when a business makes it clear they'd rather not take my money, I make sure to honor their desire and share my experience with friends. The ceviche project might be fabulous, but I wouldn't know because I was not welcome and that's a shame. I got the shrimp & octopus ceviche and also tried one of the scallop dishes. You definitely will not be full unless your willing to spend a pretty penny but the food is great.
