This place is awesome!!! such a hidden gem! They mainly sell more seafood than meat, but it's still amazing!!! the service is wonderful! they have a place for you to sit inside and it's super clean.

There's street parking to get here and even that could be tricky. Expect to parallel park. The line moves quickly and the staff are nice and friendly. The food is ready fairly quick. They have an indoor seating area with some simple tables and chairs. There's restrooms available. I got the shrimp tacos. They were hot and fresh. It's a nice crispy crunch with each bite. It's flavorful and the avocado is a nice touch. The sauce used keeps the plate wet which might make the tacos soggy. But I actually ate all three tacos quick enough to avoid that issue just cause they were that good! It's definitely worth a try!

My husband had been craving these shrimp tacos. We used to go to 4 vientos but their quality changed. These shrimp tacos are similar but a little more flavorful. He also got the tostada with agua chiles on top, little too much going on with that. Over all food was good. They have a small hall set up with chairs and tables to eat.

Came here after a recommendation. The tacos were alright. I'm not the biggest food truck person. The taco salsa was the best part. I would have gotten salsa alone if I could. The tacos seemed like a mix of grounded shrimp and whole shrimp. I'd say standard. Plenty of seating inside. It was really quiet. Standard service.

If you're in East LA and craving shrimp tacos, you have to go to Mariscos Jalisco. This place seriously has the best shrimp tacos -- they are consistently amazing. They never miss. Every single time we order, they're crispy, flavorful, and perfectly made. They also make for great leftovers! The service is always so friendly and welcoming, which makes the experience even better. My family actually makes this our go-to spot before events -- we'll order a big batch of tacos to take with us, and they're always a crowd pleaser. At about $3.27 per taco, it's a great deal, especially when you're ordering in large quantities. One thing to know: they're cash only, so come prepared! But they make it super easy for big to-go orders. They pack everything up so thoughtfully -- salsa, hot sauce, avocados, limes, utensils, napkins -- all ready for parties or gatherings. We love this place so much. Definitely one of our all-time favorite spots in LA!

I haven't been in ages. I use to love the taco Cameron. Crunchy tacos with large shrimp tops succulent ripe slices of avocado. I was so excited to devour them again. Unfortunately I was really disappointed. I'm hoping it was just an off day. The taco filling was just minced shrimp that had gooey texture and with semi raw filling. The avocado were thin slices and it just did have the previous flick of flavor. I do like that they do have simple indoor seating with large bottles of hot sauces. I pains me to write this review and I hope the next time I go and can be impressed enough to adjust my rating higher

This iconic LA food truck can be found on the streets of Boyle Heights. The hard-shell shrimp tacos at Mariscos Jalisco are an iconic LA dish. They're consistently recognized as one of the best bites in LA and they're worth $2.75. I don't know everything that they put in this taco, but there's definitely shrimp, avocado, cabbage, and salsa in a hard shell and it's delicious. If you're looking for LA's best street food, then this is a top spot to check out! Even as a street food taco trunk, they've been recognized by the LA Times as one of LA's top 101 restaurants since 2013. They took LA Times' "Gold Award" in 2024 as a top spot for one of the best bites in LA.

I love this food truck. It's truly a bang for your buck. 2.75 per shrimp tacos and they come out pipin hot. The workers were super nice and explained to me the sides that were provided with the tacos. There some tables in front of the truck if you want to dine in and have that street food ambiance. I can't choose between mariscos 4 vientos or this place. Both are very good and have their own pros and cons! Parking can be difficult though.

Fact: Mariscos Jalisco has the best crunchy shrimp Tacos in Los Angeles. Evidence: The crunchy shrimp tacos from mariscos jaliscos are the gold standard of crunchy tacos. Expect a deliciously fried taco with a perfected formula filing of shrimp and potato. It's moist, but not mushy, crunchy but not charred. Unlike any taco you've had, it's worth the drive. Staff is friendly, and the location has an indoor seating room right next to the food truck.

Tacos de Camarón $2.75 Each

What I Ordered: Tacos de Camarón $2.75 I've had Mariscos Jalisco bookmarked on Yelp and Google for a minute now. I should have come here ages ago! I finally set out to Boyle Heights to see what this hype was all about. Did it live up to the hype? Yes, it did! For the price of $6, you get two tacos. You really can't beat that deal! 2 Tacos won't fill you up, but it's a satisfying meal. I liked the display of the Tacos de Camarón here as it's not as smothered with salsa as 4 Vientos. It also comes with a slice of lime with is a nice touch. The portion size was much smaller than Mariscos 4 Vientos and had less shrimp as well. However, the quality of the shrimp tasted better here. It was also less starchy tasting than 4 Vientos. I would definitely come back here again for a Tacos de Camarón. I also want to try the Tostadas here.

Best shrimp dorado tacos 10/10 no complaints ! Fast service and friendly worker. They have a room across that you can sit and eat in with tables and bathroom

Poseidon
Jenny T.

Ordered and ate outside on 07/06/25 and 07/12/25 again - significantly more potato in the taco than last time. Tried the Poseidon, ceviche the camaron, and tacos de camaron. Poseidon had a spicy kick for sure and felt like the ceviche could use more acidity and texture as the shrimp is cut into super small pieces. Favorite part was definitely the octopus pieces, which were tasty and not chewy! Service was super accommodating and quick; I forgot cash and the staff was kind enough let me Zelle / Venmo. Make sure you bring cash to support! Great prices as per usual, after two tacos, one Poseidon, and one ceviche it came out to be $27 before tip. Between two people, we had leftovers to bring home. Ambience: Both times I came the indoor seating was not available anymore, so plan to eat outside.

We went after normal lunch hour, and there were only a few people waiting. It is cash only, so beware if you don't normally carry cash. We were prepared, so there was no issue. Parking is all street parking. It's a main street that's pretty busy and crowded. The food tasted fresh and was good. We paid about $40 for the 4 things we ordered, which isn't insanely crazy in this day and age with food prices. There is a ln indoor seating area that's clean and well kept.

Mariscos Jalisco Reviews in Other Languages

Ask the Community - Mariscos Jalisco

Do they do/have shrimp substitute?

Is it cash only?

Cash only for the most part. They piloted CC payment but I guess it didn't work out.

What's the sauce that goes on top of the shrimp tacos? Is it just salsa? I'm planning on ordering for to go- will they pack the salsa on the side so the taco doesn't get soggy?

Yes even now when we order. The sauce is on the side in a cup and they just give you an avocado for you to cut slices yourself.

Is the Mariscos Jalisco in Pomona owned by the same owner?

Yes, it is! They have 5 locations.

Are the tacos fried in lard?

I'm going to say probably not, only because lard has a very distinct flavor and these taste more like they were fried in some type of vegetable oil.… Read more

Do they accept Venmo?

Cash only

Are there gluten-free options? I am hoping it is all corn products.

Yes. Mostly seafood and mexican food. They offer corn tostadas and corn tortilla for their tacos.

Whats the other location they have near Gardena?

The Gardena location is open on Fridays only at S. Figueroa & 140th St.

Anyone know where I can buy the habanero hot sauce "Sinaloa" they have here?

You can buy the abanero sauce at any Mariscos Jalisco location

The people here are very friendly and helpful. And there's some apple seating area, especially since it wasn't super busy. I did come on a late weekday night though. Of course I ordered the pezcuesos de pollo. The price were very reasonable. I got it to go because I was on my way home. And they neatly packaged everything with plenty of the extras like salsa and toppings. I definitely wanna come back and try their other tacos here or other menu items.

We waited patiently for about 10 minutes because we assumed he might be busy. Since he still didn't respond, we decided to just leave. What made the situation worse was that as soon as we stepped away, he immediately helped the person behind us. That felt very disrespectful, especially since we had been patient the whole time and were not rude at all. It's really disappointing because we actually love the tacos here. They're estilo Jalisco, which is where we're from, so we were excited to eat here. Unfortunately, the bad service alone was enough to ruin the experience. Very disappointing, and we won't be returning.

As mentioned by other Yelper(s), this taco trunk can be found parked in front of the LAC USC Medical Center building. In fact, I remember seeing more than 1 trucks available, but this white Buenos Tacos (easy to remember) truck is the only one that opens late and on the weekend. But please don't quote me on this. They offer tacos, quesadias, burritos, and tortas, but I am only interested in tacos usually. Regular tacos cost $1.25 each, while tacos de lengua cost $1.50 each. I recommend opting for regular ones, as you can get 4 for $5, no change, no mess. I am not even sure why lengua costs more, or if lengua actually tastes better. Shrug. I got cabeza and pastor to go. The cook was very speedy in cooking, and packed everything in foil for me to keep them warm. Limes was cut up and put in a separate bag for convenience. Both tasted very good! Now, if you cannot handle spicy, you may wanna let him know ahead of time, because after eating all 4, my eyes and nose were runny, and my oral cavity in general was burning. It's a delicious kinda burn, but I could do without it. I also enjoyed the toppings such as cilantro, onion, etc. Get everything on it. I didn't regret it at all for doing so! Specifically, cabeza was visibly more fatty but I liked it that way--it was super yummy. Pastor in comparison was drier, but still very well marinated. They tasted good enough, and were cheap enough, for me to come back and try for more. I'll update you guys if I ever buy their other options: azada, chorizo, pollo, and buche. (Btw, all spelling is per menu on the truck. Some look kinda funky, but I don't speak Spanish, so what do I know.)
