Wildbird feels like one of those places where nothing is accidental. Every bite has intention behind it, not just in how it tastes but in how it's built. The flavors lean authentic Mexican but with a level of care that makes each ingredient stand out on its own. You can tell someone in that kitchen is paying attention. What I appreciated most is that nothing felt overdone. The seasoning is confident without trying too hard, and everything tastes clean, balanced, and purposeful. It's also a great spot when you want something fast but still healthy and very well made, which is harder to find than it should be. It's the kind of place where you slow down a little because you don't want to miss what's happening in each bite. If you're looking for bold, thoughtful flavor without the gimmicks, this is an easy yes. read more

I've been walking by Wildbird for almost two years but last Sunday was the first time my wife and I walked over and finally give the place a try, Sunday was a pretty hot day in DTLA so when we headed over for dinner we planned to sit down and eat inside, the only issue was the restaurant itself was roughly 1600 degrees and completely unbearable to be inside of, so we ordered at the kiosk and waited outside so we wouldn't cook. The menu here is comparable to a place like El Pollo Loco with the type of chicken, though I'm assuming the food is a bit of a higher quality. I ended up ordering a two piece chicken plate with my sides consisting of the Macaroni and Cheese as well as the Sweet Potatoes. I'm going to get the bad out of the way first, the Sweet Potatoes were kinda gross and it doesn't bring me joy to say that. They simply didn't taste good and I'm usually a fan of Sweet Potatoes. The Macaroni and Cheese was pretty solid, though on the runny side but did taste alright. The chicken itself was good, cooked well, on the juicy side, and the skin had solid flavour. Overall, I had a mixed experience with Wildbird. The food was not something I see myself craving, but at the same time it's also a place I want to give another try. read more

If I can give it ZERO STARS, I would. My first time there for $2 taco Tuesday. First off, there was nothing showing $2.00 tacos and especially on the kiosks. My co worker and I did not know how to order because we did not see the $2 deal. We tried asking they were too busy. So we end up ordering 2 tacos, a little bit of Spanish rice for $15. My co worker order tortillas and they guy told us it does not come with it because it its fried so I ask for my money back and he said no thats how it is. Wow!! What a shit rule. So we paid for tortillas and never received it and thats just too bad. Also another customer told us she did the same and shes so mad she gave the food to the homeless. I will never go back to this place. read more

They serve chickens in variety like taco and such. We ordered the whole chicken that came with 2 sides. Mac & cheese and kale slaw were our 2 sides. The chicken is juicy and tasty. The skin is crispy and the meat is flavorful. The mac & cheese has a slight tang to it. The kale slaw is good with cranberry. It was late and they didn't have any agua fresca . The only complaint I have is that the ac was out. Hope they can fix it soon. read more

UPDATED REVIEW I visited Wild Bird in Downtown LA (8th St) and had a terrible experience. I ordered mac and cheese on the kiosk, but after paying, I was told it wasn't available. When I asked for a refund, Joshua, a young male employee, was rude and dismissive--he even referred to me as "girl," which felt unprofessional and disrespectful. Instead of getting my money back, I was forced to pick another side I didn't want. To make things worse, the chicken was overcooked and the rice was burnt. For the prices they charge, this level of food and customer service is unacceptable. I won't be coming back. read more

This review is solely based on the crappy customer service and has nothing to do with Uber Eats.. I placed an order for a Harvest Bowl to be delivered. The order receipt clearly shows I ordered the correct item and the employees provided the driver the incorrect order. Which was very disappointing. I called the restaurant and the phone was answered. I tried to explain to the guy that answered the phone. He kept yelling the order went out and wouldn't let me explain they gave the driver the wrong order and then he hung up on me. I tried calling back and they never answered the phone again. This is so rude and unacceptable. Wild Bird you need to do better by hiring competent employees. If they're not capable of packing an order correctly and the very least train them in answering the phone and dealing with customers correctly. Yes, I received a refund but this is beside the point. Perhaps take a look at who was staffed tonight and set up proper training for him. read more

Food was a decent healthy option. Broccoli was a bit undercooked, overall taste is just very salty/vinegary. No depth of flavor really. I also ordered a separate order of the mac and cheese instead of broccoli and the whole plate just was mixed into one big pile maybe due to gravity. The mac n cheese did not really taste like anything. Customer service was good and friendly however. read more

I always pass by the Culver City location but finally tried it! We were on our way to a potluck and thought what better thing to bring than protein?? We ordered a large tray of chicken and wild sauce. It came warm and nicely packed. The employee there was super nice and provided me all the things I would need- plastic tongs, paper plates, napkins, and plastic utensils. I even took the leftovers back to eat the next day (: read more

Stopped by Wildbird for lunch and had mixed feelings. The Pollo Tinga had good flavor but was way too spicy for me and ended up overpowering the dish. A few bites were enjoyable but the heat took away from the balance. The broccoli was just okay and didn't have much seasoning so it felt a bit bland compared to the rest of the plate. The highlight was the sweet potatoes. They were cooked well, nicely seasoned, and easily the best part of the meal. read more

I really loved this place when it first opened, and my second review is unfortunately about their customer service. The food is still great, but it's disappointing when the service ruins the overall experience! They close at 10:00 p.m. My husband and I walked in at 8:50 p.m., and they already had all the chairs up. We asked if they were still open, and the employee said yes. We ordered at the kiosk, but when we went to sit down, she shouted, "Takeout only." I asked, "Don't you guys close at 10?" She said "Yeah, but dine-in is only until like 8:40." So apparently, just 10 minutes before we arrived, dine-in had already ended...how convenient. It seemed like they had cleaned up early and simply didn't want anyone dining in anymore. They were also out of all the aguas frescas. I recently joined a run club down the street and was excited to come here more often, but I'd rather spend my money somewhere else now. Unfortunately, bad customer service can outweigh even really good food! Also, their restroom has been out of service the last two times I've visited, and it was still out of service today. read more

I need to edit my review because I didn't realize this place serves only organic chicken! Because it's organic, the prices are a little higher, but fair for organic chicken. The ladies working there were so nice! My coworkers all said the food was good here so I got a quarter chicken plate with Mexican corn and guacamole and chips. Let me say, the sides were great! They gave me a huge helping of corn. Very generous amount of guacamole and it was really good! I like that the chips were seasoned as well, but there was a lingering taste that I didn't love. Unfortunately, the chicken didn't have much meat on it at especially the leg and thigh area. It looked like I got a lot of chicken, but there wasn't that much meat on the actual bone. I really had to work to get some meat scraps off of there. But now that I know it's organic chicken, that makes sense. The chicken we're accustomed to eating that isn't organically raised is full of growth hormones so that the chickens develop more meat on their bones. Now that I know this place is organic, it makes sense that the chicken didn't have as much meat. The chicken itself is seasoned very well! The salsas that I got were also amazing!! I got a like cilantro or basil crema and the fire roasted salsa. They were both great! You order at the kiosk and sit down and they bring your food, then you bus your table. So it's fast and convenient casual. read more

I think I've walked by this place before, but I am unsure. I ordered DoorDash last night, and decided to try it out. I ordered the Chicken Dinner Box! It comes with 2 entrees, 2 large sides, 2 small sides, and chips/guacamole. Everything came hot and fresh, and it was ready fairly quickly so service was cool. I chose the half chicken, chipotle chicken tinga over Spanish rice, Brussels sprouts, Mexican street corn, and charro beans. IT IS A LOT OF FOOD. I am not the biggest fan of the chicken tinga. It's too much sauce on it, and the flavor is not the best but a really nice portion. The half chicken was nicely seasoned, and the size of each piece was good. The sides were just not my type of flavor, I also didn't like the Spanish rice. It was a little gummy, and tasted heavy on the tomatoes. The guac and chips were good though. I don't think I'll be back. Just not my cup of tea. read more

I've ordered a couple times for some of the teammates at work and everything's always been delivered professionally packaged, and is presented well and smells wonderful. The few items I've had were excellent and today my boss had a 2-for-1 special so I got his second plate and the Charro beans are fantastic and amazingly enough, the Kale Slaw (something I would probably never order on my own) was better than I could've even imagined, and I never expected it to have a spice bite to it, but it was excellent and unique! They are super close by to work so I think I'll actually stop down there one day and peruse the location . read more

I'm between 3.5 or 4 stars. I really love this place bc the food is delicious but the reason I gave it a 3.5/4 is 1. It's very pricey and 2. I absolutely loathe the order by machine approach. There's like no human contact or warmth when you enter. It feels very cold. As soon as you walk in the computer/machine to order is right in front of you and no one around to answer any questions. I disdain places that prioritize machines over people. BUT the chicken is sooo tasty and food is good. I ordered the chicken breast plate and loved it! I also love that they have Brussel sprouts since that's my favorite veggie. I also ordered the mac n cheese and while it's flavorful, I couldn't eat it bc it looked and kinda felt (texture) like I'm eating someone's vomit I do really like the food (not the mac n cheese) here so I will definitely be going back for more in the near future. read more

I ordered from this spot on a random whim one day cuz it was close -- and ended up eating their food four days straight. I've run through almost the whole menu at this point -- only thing I haven't touched yet is the salads, veggie plates/sides, and salsa verde... but let's be real, you kinda know what you're getting with that. First off, portions are solid. Yeah, prices are a little up there, but the amount you get matches. No getting finessed here. Matter of fact, on my first trip, I ordered the 1/4 chicken plate for my girl plus an extra drumstick on the side just in case the portions were skimpy. She didn't even finish the 1/4 plate -- she got full off that and still had the drumstick and leftovers later. That told me everything I needed to know about their portions. Flavor? It's not bursting with crazy seasoning or heavy spices, but the chicken's done right. Juicy, marinated, fresh. Honestly gives El Pollo Loco vibes but cleaner, fresher, and with a little lime flex on it. That's across the board -- 1/4, 1/2, whole bird, chopped chicken breast -- all juicy. Quick story: First visit, I grabbed pozole as a side. Got home, scooped around -- one sad little piece of chicken, one hominy, and a whole lotta broth. Smh. But I went back, showed them my serving and they immediately apologized, swapped me a mac salad on the spot, and blessed me with a full-size pozole to make it right. Good customer service like that? Big reason I kept coming back. Mac & Cheese: Decent. Not that deep-south soul food mac, but it hits if you're craving it. Toasted breadcrumbs on top -- nice touch. Brussels Sprouts: Fire. Perfectly cooked, seasoned up proper. Order these, no hesitation. Charro Beans & Rice: Solid. Beans got good flavor, rice is soft, fluffy, cooked right. No Uncle Ben's fake-out either -- this rice actually tastes homemade. Street Corn: Bomb. Good flavor, good portion, no complaints. Mac Salad: Light, refreshing. I don't love onions in mine, but it still slapped. My girl finished a large side solo -- so yeah, it's good. Chips: Crisp, lightly salted -- gives Chipotle vibes but a little better. Guac: Fresh. No need to overhype it -- just solid. Listen -- get the wild sauce if you're about that spicy life. It's the one. Also try the white sauce (like a ranch upgrade) and charred tomato salsa. Pro move: sauce up whatever you get. Mix 'em, dip 'em -- you'll level up any plate. (My girl even puts ranch on the rice -- sounds wrong but it's actually fire.) Buffalo Cauliflower: Light breading, tossed in their Nashville sauce. Worth a try if you're into cauliflower! Main Dishes to Know: Burrito: Big, served cut in half, and perfect for a quick handheld meal -- especially when dipped in the wild or charred tomato salsa. Tostada Bowl: Huge portion. Get it with chicken breast, not chicken tinga, trust me. Tacos Dorados: UNDEFEATED. These got me in a chokehold. Perfect shell (not greasy, not too crunchy, not chewy), juicy shredded chicken inside, plus lettuce, cotija, pickled onions, Fresno peppers, crema...with the wild or charred salsa? I dream about these. Chicken Tinga: Pass for me. Big chunks of meat, but the flavor feels lazy -- like they tossed seasoning on after cooking instead of actually marinating it. The young dude at the counter already knows me by name now. That little personal touch matters. Good vibes all around whenever I pull up. Pro Tip: Sign up for their rewards program and first-time discount. You get a few bucks off your first order, and the points add up FAST. I ran it up and pulled $14 off within like 5 visits. Easy money if you're planning to doing the block a few times. Bottom line? Try it. I'm basically a regular now -- and honestly, I'm not mad about it! (Just don't forget that wild sauce -- I warned you.) read more

This place has potential, but good grief -- who's seasoning the food, Poseidon? I don't know what's going on in this kitchen, but someone clearly said, "Let's see how much salt we can pump into a meal before the customer taps out." The chicken tinga wasn't just salty -- it was hostage-level salty. I've had ocean water with less sodium. Whatever flavors were supposed to be there didn't stand a chance. They drowned under a tidal wave of salt like it was a culinary natural disaster. And then... the Uptown Mac & Cheese. My God. Not only was it over-salted, it wasn't even creamy. It was thin. Limp. Depressed. I swear the mac looked like it needed a hug and a prescription for Prozac just to get through the meal. Like it knew it failed before it even left the kitchen. And just when you think it can't get worse, they absolutely carpet-bomb the top with panko breadcrumbs. Not toasted, not seasoned -- just dumped on top like they're trying to bury the evidence of a crime. And charging nine dollars for that mac and cheese? That's not a price -- that's a cry for help. The result? A gritty, dry, flavorless crunch layered over salty, under-thickened cheese sauce. It's like someone said, "How do we make this even less enjoyable?" and another cook replied, "I've got panko." This place has potential, but right now the execution is an absolute catastrophe. Less salt, more skill, and for the love of God -- stop assaulting mac and cheese with random breadcrumbs. Update: I appreciate the owner's professional and thoughtful response and the fact that they took the feedback seriously. It sounds like steps are being taken to improve the dishes I mentioned, and I respect that level of accountability. I'll plan to revisit in the future to see how things progress. read more

The food is good here, mind you. They Ran out of Mac n cheese at lunch time, then went to just ask for a refund for just the Mac n cheese to find out they don't offer refunds? How is this possible? They also stated, "they don't have a system to do refunds" so what happens when y'all mess up and the customer isn't satisfied??? Nowhere does it state "no refunds final sale." Also, the bathroom is out of service or they just have the sign up that states that. How do the employees wash their hands? Aside from all this, as I sat down to eat my meal, I noticed my chips were missing and went to the counter to get them and the employee was rude when I asked him for my chips, thanks wild bird. read more

They have on menu as in pic guacamole 8 ounces with chips six dollars. I ordered the chips and salsa along with tacos and what's in the picture is a 4 ounce of guacamole I requested. They gave me another 4 ounce container cause that's what's on. The menu is 8 ounces for six dollars not 4 ounces for six dollars they told me they couldn't do that. They don't give refunds for me to call the manager tomorrow. I told him I am going out of town.
