Casual attire, casual dining. I absolutely loved this place! It brings you back in time to that inviting, comfortable, cozy feel. It was busy but the service is still fast (so be ready to order, etc., they dont play around! Lol) the staff are very quick and accommodating. Seems like this is a family owned business, loved everyone we interacted with. Warm & welcoming. Say "yes" to the coffee they serve when you first sit down. Brought me back the days with my grandparents and parents. It was good ole fashion coffee. Yumm. The food was delicious!! I didn't realize that I had never posted a review of Teddy's! We don't go often, but we have been going to Teddy's on occasion when we travel to the west side to go to Santa Monica College, for years. We've gone twice in the last few weeks, and it's as good as ever. Teddy's is an old school home style cafe/diner on Bundy and Pico. It actually is a community landmark where locals congregate and hang out. The other plus is that they are Spanish-language friendly. Ambiance is cozy, friendly and homey and service is great! Menu includes standard diner fare, comfort food. We've recently had the open faced hot turkey sandwich with gravy and mashed potatoes, which was good, and we enjoyed it. The next time JJ had a bowl of split pea soup, which was excellent! He also had the tuna sandwich, which he enjoyed as well, but said it was a little on the dry side. I ended up deciding on breakfast at 5 pm in the afternoon--- combo with pancakes, eggs over easy and sausages. It was so good! I thoroughly enjoyed it. The pancakes were steaming hot and fluffy and the sausages were really plump and juicy. Excellent. Recommended, if you're in the area---give Teddy's a try. Cash only, but there is an ATM inside. Teddy's Cafe looks like an old diner, which I can appreciate. I like diners. I always feel comfortable and welcome and this place does that as well. It's real casual. I don't know the history but I assume the owner is into model cars because they are everywhere. The decor is a bit scattered and dusty. It kind of feels like someone's living room. I was seated and the server took my order quickly. I ordered a club sandwich, and if you've read my other reviews that contain bacon, you know I like my bacon burnt. Well, I did have to send my bacon back because it wasn't even crispy, but the second time was the charm and my sandwich was really good. The French fries were okay. Not under cooked, but not crispy either. I only ate a few of them. I had to ask the person at the counter for my check and paid there because the server didn't come back. All in all, mediocre. Will I go back? I don't know. If I'm in the area I might. It's not close to me and the experience wasn't good enough for me to go out of my way. read more

Came here for breakfast after taking a red eye and landing super early in the morning. This was one of the few places open that early and we got a standard breakfast. Teddy's cafe located on the corner of Bundy and Pico boulevard is an old fashioned diner with old fashioned prices. They have a medium/small outdoor parking lot. The ambiance is retro chic with model cars and trucks decorating the walls. I had the Reuben sandwich with coleslaw for $12.99. A cup of vegetable soup for $2.75. Teddy's Cafe looks ordinary from the outside. But once you go in, you are in a warm and cozy and homey dining room. Their food is made from scratch and delicious and hot out of the kitchen. My brother loves a well prepared chicken fried steak with crispy edges and eggs and pancakes. Wow. This is pure comfort food. The service is prompt and pleasant. Everything is well prepared, and their regulars are there all the time. I am anxious to try their prime rib dinner. Somehow they keep their prices down. It was inexpensive ($12.50 for a hot turkey sandwich and $11.50 for a 3 egg country fried steak and eggs). It's cash only but they have an ATM inside. My turkey sandwich was filling and my wife took home country fried steak leftovers. The dining room was crowded for a Sunday night at 5:00. Everyone seemed to be a regular. Two waitresses served everyone. They were pleasant and efficient but I could see someone calling them a little abrupt. They were very busy so no big deal. Our waitress warmed up to us when we said it's our first time, we loved the food and plan to come back. Ambiance? It's a diner, comfortable and casual. They have a 70s motif. Very nice breakfast. Lots of old car decor which is right up my alley. Pleasant servers. Took them a long time to get to our table, but it was a busy Sunday morning. Prices were EXTREMELY fair. Teddys is the best! From the seasoned waitstaff to the classic diner comfort food. They got it going on. I got the corned beef hash this morning and it is delicious. Comes even with a sliced piece of pineapple. Hash browns are crisp to perfection. I have to remember to order my eggs over medium tho cuz over easy is a bit too runny for my blood. My BF loves their chicken fried steak and biscuits and gravy. The prices are throwback and makes you want to come twice as much!!! just left this place would NEVER recommend it. let's start off with why? "Angie" I believe was the waitress and when I asked what was on the side salas she replied "lettuce" I asked if it had topping and she "replied" that I could add them. To me a side salad is lettuce, tomato, cucumber etc anything less then that is a "bed of lettuce" and not a side salad and that is why I had asked?. However every restaurant is going to do it differently her attitude swiftly changed to an attitude of contempt then she went to the back where I could see her talking about me with the staff. After having her laughs she came over and abruptly placed the bill on the table. The food had just came out and mind you there was a Man sitting next to us that had requested his bill twice. I said nothing to her I finished my coffee and prepared to leave. The food is sub par my omelet was over cooked to the point of fried, the "hash browns" and terrible more like a smashed potato, the aujus was disgusting. The albondigas soup was delicious and the Salsa prepared by one of the Waiters himself was outstanding. This post is not about bad mouthing the restaurant this post is an honest depiction of the quality of the food the service and perception. When traveling you are going to come across many different restaurants where things are done differently and that's okay. I don't appreciate being treated with contempt for asking a basic question. what stood out was her distain for others and that not good. however there was one Male waiter Jose? I believe I could be wrong. He said he worked there thirty plus years he is an AMZING person and his Salsa is delicious. My husband's surprised me with breakfast after a doctors appointment here at Teddys Cafe. The restaurant was so clean for the outdated decor. Mismatching chairs and wooden finishes give this place its charm. Our server was Angie. Very sweet and available if you need anything she was within an arms reach to get what you need. The food was so homemade reminded me of my grandmas kitchen! Fluffy pancakes, warm salsa, and crisp breakfast proteins. But bring cash as this is a cash only joint and they do have an atm, service fee around $3.50. We will definitely be back! read more

There were numerous locals in there and it was rad seeing all the servers knowing many faces off the get go. I had their omelette and it was good. Full warning they only do cash. There is an ATM there as well though. All in all good portions for the pricing and solid food. People were filtering in and out pretty quickly. So it's a good place if you want to snag a quick bite but also if you want to longer and have a good breakfast with the family. One of the cheapest diners in Los Angeles. I can't believe it took me so long to stop in because I work only a few miles from here. As mentioned the prices are extremely reasonable, a big reason most likely is because they are cash only. They have an ATM on the inside just in case. They also have a very large free parking lot attached. Otherwise it will be street parking. They have a fairly large menu filled with all the classic diner options. They also have a lot of daily specials, which is what I chose today. Service was a bit slow and our server was not the most polite waitress that I've ever had. The food is also pretty good, although not in the great category in my opinion. It was fairly busy and lively when we were there but we only had to wait a few minutes to be seated. I started off with a cup of coffee and the two biscuits and gravy for $2.50. At that price it's impossible to beat but I was not the biggest fan of the gravy and wish the biscuits would have been fluffier. Not the best I've had this year but still worth getting. I chose one of the specials of the day, which was the Eggs Benedict. Again it was pretty good although not great. A lot of it comes down to the hollandaise sauce quality. This one was a bit too watery in my opinion. Also, the potatoes were more home style potatoes even though I requested hashbrowns. Overall a pretty good diner, and I would recommend even though I have to give it a 4/5 because of service and food quality. read more

I have been going to Teddy's for over two decades. I have had many of the items on the breakfast and dinner menu. Sometimes friends gripe about the way Teddy's looks but I don't care. The food is always fresh, tasty and large portions for the low prices they offer. The restaurant is always clean and the staff are attentive. Teddy's provides an affordable place to eat for many people in our community who cannot afford the exorbitant prices at the other restaurants on Pico. If you like Teddy's then also please visit Rae's Diner at 2901 Pico Bl., Santa Monica. They have the same owner. I love "mom & pop" diners, so much so I want them to survive, so we are not limited to chain diners. However, for Teddy's Cafe, I found myself wishing it wasn't so run-down and cleaner. You definitely can't go wrong with the menu prices, but the ambiance did not instill in me any confidence of quality or freshness. Because of this lack of confidence, I opted for a veggie burger. It was fine, nothing special. They skimped on the french fries, which I was surprised by. Service was friendly and fast, so no problem there. It would be great if Teddy's Cafe could do a tiny upgrade, it doesn't need much, just a big dusting and cleaning, new signage, because I can see it being very charming. read more

My husband and I had lived over near Bundy and Santa Monica for 15 years and I had always wanted to stop by Teddy's Cafe.. we passed by it all the time while they're coming off the freeway or quick fix at Taco Bell, but never made it until today :-) remember back in the day when on Sunday mornings mom or dad would go to the kitchen and make it amazing breakfast for the family that is Teddy's cafe! I finally stopped by to get something to go.. the ambience was way better than I imagined, both this staff and the customers were extremely nice and the food was delicious! I have been coming to Teddy's Cafe for about 30 years, the staff is super friendly and always welcomes you with a smile, the owner and myself share a couple of things, we are both from Guadalajara and we both have a passion for Classic Cars, he has a 1965 Impala SS and so do I, Food is excellent here, never tried a dish I didn't like, this is one of the last Iconic Nostalgic places still standing in LA and I will keep coming here for many years to come. read more

Good ol' fashioned, old school restaurant. This is where the non-elites, the non-celebrities, the average Joe goes to eat good ol' fashioned grub. The breakfast menu is fantastic. The food is delicious and the serving sizes are very generous. The prices are more than fair for what you get for your money. Just be sure to bring cash as they do not take cards. We loved the fact that there were not two tables that matched and the chairs at each table were a hodge-podge collection to pull together. Its a great atmosphere.
