The Notorious Vanilla Bullshit
Brianna A.

the amount of good things i have heard about good people i truly wanted to like them & give them a good review but my matcha drink was not good at all. The vibe of good people is very welcoming. the ladies who assisted me & created my matcha drink was absolutely lovely with the sweetest attitude. the decor is very unique & different just like the name of the matcha drink i ordered. the matcha drink i got is called ' the notorious vanilla bullshit ' which is very unique & different. However, the drink did taste like bullshit & not in a very good way. i don't know why but the matcha was not good at all. i had high hopes for the drink which is too bad & unfortunate because i do live 40 mins from Santa Monica.

Cute & casual brunch place. You order first, then find a seat in the large outdoor area, where they'll bring the food to you. Keep in mind the register area is a little cramped. But the line goes by fast. There's free water in the back for those not buying a drink. I got the Miami vice burrito which was good. Will come back in the future to try other items on the menu.

This is my favorite coffee spot in Sawtelle! I've tried about 15 different coffee shops in this neighborhood looking to see if anything can beat Good People, and no other place compares. My go-to, but the Junior Mint, is consistently delicious. Their avocado toast is absolutely to die for, too; It has the perfect mix of sweet, salty, acidic, and umami flavors. Their pastries are crazy good too! Get the pink sprinkle donut, it will not disappoint! I love coming here to bask in the sunshine and fresh air in their giant patio, saying hello to all the cute dogs that come with their owners. All in all, vibes: 10/10. Coffee: 10/10. Food: 10/10. I love it here! I come at least once a week!

Cute stop by, or stay and work coffee shop nestled in Santa Monica. Aesthetic & Ambience: 9/10 came here for a social event and the aesthetic was chic coffee alley with an backyard party setup. The ambiance was fun and open, but probably pretty quiet otherwise since people go there to work. Service: 9/10 barista was super nice and drinks came out quick. Pacific Mega Mint Tea (hot): 8/10 was a good blend, strong on the mint as the name suggests. They also have a variety of food that they bring out to the table in addition to the pastries.

My partner and I stopped at Goodpeople for some drinks during our walk and it was a really cute outdoor location. I tried their matcha iced latte with almond milk - unfortunately the almond flavor overpowered the match, I'd try with oat milk next time! The service was really good and we loved the ambience that we went the next day and I tried the ube iced latte and it was absolutely delicious!

Both drinks were super tasty. My bf got a matcha with ube and I got a matcha with blueberry flavoring. Loved how the barista was kind and just good vibes! The matcha had a smooth and slightly earthy taste. You can tell it was ceremonial matcha being used in the drinks. Will definitely come again

Stopped by 11609 Santa Monica Blvd for a quick lunch today and grabbed the Philly Cheese Steak. It was actually really good--the meat was seasoned well and the bread held up perfectly. Service was fast and the staff were pretty chill, which I appreciated since I was on a schedule. Solid, reliable spot. #taxcap98

Passed by to pick up coffee and croissant order. The back patio is a great place to study and get some work done. Study spot Staff friendly. Good variations of coffee. Recommend :)

Hands down my favorite coffee shop on the Westside. Minority owned. Amazing coffee (AND matcha). Bomb music and food. The vibes are just amazing. They have only an outdoor patio with plenty of seating that's shaded with a couple of outlets. It's never packed and it is a perfect place to catch up with a friend or to get some work/studying done. The staff is so kind~ this place truly feels Like a community. Parking is street parking but no issues finding any if you or okay with walking a bit throughout the neighborhood.

I came here this afternoon with a friend and had an exquisite experience. The service was friendly and helpful and I ordered the dirty chai latte with oat milk. The cup was cute and quirky and the latte art was gorgeous. I liked all the cute signage too. The latte itself was perfectly sweet and spicy and had a nice kick to it. I really loved the outdoor patio which was huge and spacious. It was very relaxing on a warm spring day. The tables and chairs were all clean and comfy. I love how they have so many vegan food options, so I will definitely return to try some!

If I lived in LA I would go here every. single. day. It is so good!! I ordered the Vanilla Bullshit hot, with whole milk and I've had a lot of vanilla lattes in my day but this one took the gold!! I don't know what they do but it was so deliciously sweet yet balanced. The cinnamon even tastes better than elsewhere. Parking isn't ideal because it's mostly residential permit parking but you will find a spot, it's worth it. Bonus- it's minority owned and celebrates diversity. Bonus bonus - the vibes are super cool and make your day better.

Came in on a Wednesday to work since I was getting my car serviced just a block over. Plenty of seating in the back patio area, but the front doesn't really show that. Love the names of the specialty drinks and love that they also do matcha! I ordered at the counter and for whatever reason my credit cards did not work so thank goodness they still accepted cash. Easy to find a seat to set up my workspace. They also had plenty of extension cords to charge your devices, but ofc I forgot mine. Definitely could stay longer if needed. The weather was perfect out so the outside seating is amazing. I liked how they had the option of a mini or large burrito, although after getting the large I'm wondering how small the small is. I'm just used to big burritos the size of my forearm is all so the large was half of that already. Food came out quick and presented nicely. The drink was super tasty! Definitely a great spot to study/work or even hang out with friends to chat. Just have to ask for the WiFi and that was easy to connect to and was quite strong. Will come back if not to work but definitely to try more of their drinks!

Do they roast their coffees there? If yes, how often? I'd love to buy a bag of freshly ground decaf.

The place is so beautiful and it's such a vibe to just be there. I am amazed at how much detail went to the shop. The couches are nice and the staff is friendly. My problem is with the coffee. I was left wanting a different flavor than I expected. For context it was a Sunday morning so it might've been busy. But I ordered a flat white and it tasted like filtered water with a dash of coffee. There was absolutely no flavor and could barely taste the coffee. Maybe I don't know coffee well but I've been to tons of coffee shops in the west side and this is for sure one of the ones I was disappointed by. I'm willing to give the place a second chance but not sure.

And Ryan at the register was knowledgeable and helpful, welcoming us to the shop with a warm smile. We went with the vanilla latte (silky smooth, 20/10) at his recommendation, and the mint mocha (hint of fresh mint flavor and deep mocha, 20/10) - both iced with almond milk. For pastries, I had the everything croissant with cream cheese (20/10) and she had the triple blueberry muffin (15/10). For full transparency, and a reflection of their dedication to customers, we had a slight hiccup with our order - in the busy morning rush, our coffee orders were accidentally forgotten. After a few minutes, I asked the baristas about this and Ryan was quick to rectify the situation, even offering a complimentary gift card for our next visit. As you can see, the friendly service, phenomenal drinks and pastries make this an easy recommendation! We will definitely be returning customers! Shout out to the team today for a great first visit!

One Star - Great coffee, but the attitude ruins it…read more I've been a regular at this coffee shop for a while because the coffee and pastries are genuinely good. Unfortunately, that's no longer enough to keep me coming back. Every single male employee I've encountered here is unfriendly, arrogant, and borderline rude. It feels like they know the place is popular, so they've decided they don't need to treat customers with basic courtesy or warmth. The "too cool for you" vibe is strong and consistent. Today was the last time I'll ever spend my money here. Life is too short to pay premium prices just to be treated with disdain. The quality of the drinks and food is solid, but it's simply not worth enduring the nasty attitude. There are plenty of other fantastic coffee shops in the area that offer both great products and pleasant service -- places like Grand Luxe and Lala Land come to mind. I won't be back.
