Strawberry matcha latte
Jin Y.

I was looking for a cute cafe with good matcha. This place fulfilled one of those desires. The matcha is ceremonial grade and I like that they didn't add more sugar to the strawberry matcha latte so all the sweetness was from the strawberry puree. That said I do wish there was more liquid. It was mostly ice and I wish I could have drank more of that good stuff. It's more of a to go place. Looks like a lobby of an apt building with a couple table and chairs but not exactly the type of cafe you would chill at for that long.

I stopped by on a Monday morning around 10:30am. There's a sign right outside the building so it's easy to find. The space is small with a couple of tables and a couch for seating. The staff were friendly and welcoming. I ordered an iced matcha latte and it was good!

Iced Matcha Latte with Oatmilk, sweetened with honey

Driply is a small hidden coffee shop next to the apartments by UCLA. There is a limited menu, but the basics are there! I got the iced matcha latte with oatmilk. The matcha quality was great, although if using honey as a sweetener, it may take some time and stirring for the drink to sweeten up since it is not in the syrup form. My friend loved their vanilla syrup in her latte. Workers were very friendly and accommodating to modifications!

Starting off a BREW-tiful day at @moclosangeles…read more As a previous @ucla undergrad and current PhD student, Ministry of Coffee has been one of my favorite coffee shops in @westwoodvillage for many years. This hidden gem, hugely underrated Australian cafe features a menu with some of the BEST hot coffees I've had (with my recommendation being their Salted Mocha Latte), as well as delicious, wholesome breakfast, brunch and lunch dishes such as their lox bagel, egg sandwich (featured here), and avocado toast. Prices are a bit on the higher side for a student budget, but it's definitely well warranted for the quality of their drinks and food, and large portions. I also love how they have plenty of indoor and outdoor seating options, making it perfect to study, chat with friends, or grab a bite to eat on a lunch break. This spot can definitely get busy especially with so many college students milling around, but I've never had issues finding a spot to sit even during busy midterm and finals season. So glad to see that they've expanded to so many locations in LA, and highly recommend checking them out for an incredible cup of coffee to start your day!

Update September 2026…read more I had a Cappuccino here after eating a hearty early dinner at Boiling Crab down the street. I added an extra espresso shot to celebrate National Coffee Day. It was delicious. Service was on point and fast. I sat and savored some sips at the convenient outdoor seating, then was on my way bicycling to Bevery Hills.

They're super friendly and knowledgeable when it comes to any coffee related questions that you might have. The manager that I usually see, Mel, is absolutely awesome and a pleasure to chat with. The space itself is pretty large, so there is generally somewhere to sit. They do have an outdoor area as well, it's a lovely little deck with some tables and chairs that nicely arranged. If you're in Westwood, it definitely worth stopping by. They open at 7, but I often see people lining up before then!

i should've spotted a corporate slop coffee chain from a mile away and ran :/…read more alfred's is like... OKAY. nothing to rave about. it's there when you wanna feel superior over ur friends getting starbucks across the street. the price? ALOT LMFAO. my tiny drink (smallest size btw) cost TEN DOLLARS. this gives me a love/hate relationship with LA and their coffee scene because that is ridiculous. all because i asked for an extra shot of matcha... a DOLLAR. i'm from the IE and no drink costs more than 8 bucks with adjustments, which is still a lot but at least they're small businesses. i heard from my friend other Alfred's have much greener matches, because even with my extra shot it wasn't as potent. nonetheless, the peach syrup was absolutely delicious and not artificial at all.... BUT THERE WASNT ENOUGH. i had to ask for extra syrup when my friend's same order was initially sweeter. the coconut foam was yummy too, but it's just the lack of consistency and attention to detail that cannot justify the really STEEP price of this place. any other small-business would weigh out the matcha, syrups, make sure the price is reasonable (i think), and so forth. i don't think i'll be back to alfred's westwood location, but if the desire for fruity milk and the slightest bit of matcha flavor hits me, maybe another location would do... ACTUALLY NAH IM IN LOS ANGELES. Ktown is RIGHT THERE LMAO. bye yall see u at ROK instead :PPP
