Whoa. The hype is real. For all these years I put street food, taco trucks a step tier below actual…read morerestaurants. But this all changed tonight. I watched a burrito be made right in front of me in a minute and it turned out to be one of the best burittos I've ever had. And it was only $12. I understand now. The added pineapple in the buritto added just enough sweetness. They smash the tortilla into the grill and they also smash the meat to make sure it's hot. The meat has no gristle and it's very soft and flavorful. This is why we live in California. I applaud the taco stands opening up in the same block. The line was intimidating but the festive music only made me hungrier. I am surprised at how friendly the staff can be while they are "at work". I've only seen such positivity at Howlin Rays. Luckily, the line moves much faster. They had a cactus salsa which would have gone great with salsa chips. It's the type of salsa that you get at great mexican restaurants and they just let you choose an unlimited amount of it. I asked for rice and beans in my burrito and they put just the right amount of it, being careful as to not overpower the meat portions. I also appreciate that I can add my own salsa, onions, cilantro, before handing it back to them to wrap it. Sometimes the hype of LA places are blown out of proportion especially with blog posts and social media. But I can vouch for this place. It really is worth it. I will be back for sure.

They are an outside vendor so there is no physical building. Right outside CVS, there's plenty of parking and a short line on Tuesday night but it went by quick. The service was great! We were served immediately and ordered 5 al pastor tacos with pineapples and 5 carne asada tacos. The Al pastor tacos were the CUTEST with the sweetest cuts of pineapple. The carne asada was a bit dry but still yummy. They mistakenly gave us 2 carnitas instead of carne asada but the carnitas were the best- tender and flavorful. After getting your tacos and paying (cash only), you can select your toppings like onions cilantro, and cactus! Then, head to their sauce bar for some green and red sauces. I only tried their green sauce which tasted like a milky avocado and was slightly sweet but would definitely try their other sauces next time. For $2 per taco, you definitely get your bang for your buck with delicious bites and friendly service. Will definitely come back as I hear their Al pastor burrito is poppin!

I kept hearing about Miya Miya from friends, so of course I had to go see what the hype was about…read more It's basically a food stand set up outside the Edge apartments in Santa Monica, kind of like those late-night taco stands you see all over LA. Super casual setup, but you can tell it's popular. I think they're planning to open a full shop eventually. Parking wasn't too bad, just metered street parking nearby. We got there around 3:30 pm on a Friday... and there was already a line. They don't even open until 4:30. One of the workers came and told us it would be about an hour wait once they opened, so we decided to stick it out. I brought a book, my husband had his games and stuff to study, so we were prepared to hang out for a bit. We didn't get our food until 6:30 pm so yeah, definitely longer than expected. Everything is made fresh right after you order, so even once you finally get to the front, there's another 10 to 20 minute wait while they assemble everything. Also, each person can only order 2 shawarmas, which makes sense because everyone's already been waiting forever and goes all in. The owner was very friendly hospitable and appreciative that everyone was waiting for their food. The staff were upbeat happy , listening to music and vibing while cooking everything. We ended up getting 4 chicken shawarmas (that's the only option) "Yaz way" which comes with spicy garlic sauce and Jordanian pomegranate molasses, plus the beef tallow fries topped with fresh za'atar. And honestly... it was worth it. The shawarma was SO good. Like 11/10. The chicken was super tender and juicy, packed with flavor. They dip the top of the wrap in extra garlic sauce and pomegranate molasses, so your first bite is insanely good... messy in the best way, dripping with sauce, tangy, garlicky, a little spicy. And somehow the last bite is just as good. The garlic sauce actually has a real kick to it, not overwhelming, but enough to wake up your taste buds. And the pomegranate molasses? That was the star for me. It adds this tart, slightly sweet flavor that cuts through the richness perfectly. It's such a unique combo and works so well. The fries were also really good, crispy and savory with that beef tallow flavor, and the za'atar on top gave it a nice herby finish. There's some seating nearby in the apartment complex area by Gelson's, so you're not just standing around trying to eat. I ate one shawarma there and saved the other for the next day, and it was still delicious, which says a lot. Would I go back? Yes... but definitely not for a 3-hour wait again If the line is like 20 to 40 minutes, I'm there. But for a first-time experience, it was fun, worth it, and honestly kind of part of the whole LA food hype vibe.

The highlight of this experience was honestly the owner, Yass, genuinely one of the nicest people…read moreyou'll meet. He made a 2.5-hour wait feel bearable, which is saying a lot. But would I stand in that line again for shawarma? Not a chance. As for the food itself, it just wasn't for me. The flavors didn't land, the sauces weren't my thing, and the only thing I actually enjoyed was the crunch. I'm starting to wonder if shawarma simply isn't my food though my boyfriend would disagree. He liked it, and while he's equally firm about never reclaiming those 2.5 hours of his life, he'd eat it again if they ever opened a brick-and-mortar with no wait. Also, we hated the fries. That said, I'm genuinely rooting for Yass. He left a career in finance after losing his father to pursue this, and you can feel the heart behind it. He's a good person running a small operation that clearly has a loyal following and that counts for something. The crowd was genuinely nice and enjoyable to be around standing in line for that long. The location is in a nice area.

It's so good, highly recommend coming here if you haven't. So glad my buddy Aaron showed me this taco stand! I didn't really believe the hype but the line wrapped around the parking lot and we waited over 30 minutes but it was worth it. Parking was very easy and the line goes by really fast too. Once you get to the front you see all the meat getting cooked and the al pastor on the spinning machine where they cut off the meat. They employees are in a line cooking, prepping and asking what you want. My order is the burrito with carne asada, cabeza, no cheese, add potato instead of beans, rice. Potato was nice touch and good substitute. For all the non-cabeza people who have never tried it before or was scared, don't be!!! I was one of those people and found the meat to be very very flavorful and juicy. They then hand you the burrito, you go to the cash register, pay and while your doing that you put your toppings on, then they wrap the burrito for you and you are on your way. Make sure to get some of their green avocado sauce. It's non spicy which I love too. Eat your food in your car, on your car on on the curb!

Cheap and decent street taco spot in West LA…read more I visited this street food vendor for an early dinner during the week and my experience here was pretty decent. It wasn't busy when I visited around 5pm. This taco stand is located next to a Ross and they have a big and free parking lot with many spots. I got 5 tacos for $10: 2 Asada, 2 Al Pastor, and 1 Tripa. They were all pretty solid. The Asada was okay, but it tasted a bit burnt and could've been seasoned more. The Al Pastor was the best in terms of flavor. I also liked the small pineapple slice, but wish it were bigger. The Al Pastor was good, but I've had better at other taco stands. Lastly, the Tripa was decent. I liked how it was crispy, but I wish there were less fat drippings. I also got a Horchata for $5. It was a very big portion, but the Horchata seemed watered down in flavor and not mixed well since there was a lot of grainy cinnamon bits swirling around the drink. They take cash and Zelle payments. The staff were also pretty friendly. Overall, a decent experience here combined with the ease of parking and value for the food. While there are taco spots with better tacos in the area, I would come back here if it's convenient and I was craving street tacos.
