    Breakfast Special #3

I stoppedhere, first time, before heading to church. I went with the breakfast special #3 which was bacon, eggs, and French toast. The service was good. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It has the feel of an old diner with booths for seating.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They fo have a $1 surcharge for eggs. The food was hood.

Pete's Blue Chip is a classic fast-casual gem nestled in Eagle Rock, the place does offer drive-thru. Has limited parking and off street as well. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Even though the interior is dated. It's very well maintained.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Pete's Blue Chip absolutely delivers when it comes to hearty, no-frills breakfast fare at an affordable option. Out of all the breakfast spots in the neighborhood. Pete's is my first choice. Today, I stopped in for their Breakfast Burrito, and it hit all the right notes. The burrito comes loaded with your choice of meat (I went with bacon), perfectly scrambled eggs, golden potatoes, and plenty of melted cheese--all wrapped in a warm, toasted tortilla. The real standout, though, was the house-made pico de gallo. Fresh, zesty, and just the right amount of kick, it brought everything together and cut through the richness beautifully. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Service is quick, the vibe is laid-back, filled with the local community and the portions are generous.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] If you're in Eagle Rock and craving a solid, satisfying breakfast, Pete's Blue Chip is worth the stop.

Drive Thru Service Review Only: The boy child wanted a vanilla shake, so I went to the closest diner to his school. The drive thru was empty, and the order was quick and easy. As we waited at the drive thru window, I can hear the shake being made in the blender, so I knew my son was in for a treat. Happy Kid + Happy Mom = Happy Life

Blue Chip burger and fries. Chili on the side.

Came here for the first time. It's a winner! Got the "Blue Chip" burger combo - the burger was tasty - and it wasn't stuffed to the gills with lettuce - you could taste all the separate components: bun, burger, onion, tomato, sauce. The Fries! The Fries! They were crispy and long and lightly seasoned. I don't like seasoned fries that much but these were exceptional - very slight dusting, but it enhanced the crispiness of the fries. I usually order fries well-done, but I forgot to, but never mind, these were perfect. Plus, they were really nice there. Order at the counter, and quick table service. We will return and I'll get the chili cheese fries which we hear are excellent.

Very disappointed in my pastrami rami sandwich, I remember back in my day I would get more bang for buck, $18 this is not worth it. Plz save your money and go somewhere in NELA. Do better whoever owns this place no cap

The Bucket was one of my favorite places to get a filthy burger, and in Eagle Rock, several of my favorites could be found, such as Original Tommy's Hamburger, The Oinkster, and Pete's Blue Chip. A very good friend of mine recently mentioned that this place had reopened and enjoyed a burger without inviting me! So, I had to see and taste for myself. If I remembered correctly, they had been closed for a while, and then I guess got resurrected. Apparently, they had been around since 1935, and when I started eating here, they had hilarious burger names, such as Cardiac Arrest, Heart Attack... you got the idea. Would this bucket contain all of the fond memories of years past!? PURCHASE(S) Firestone Walker Brewing Co. Trumer Pils German Pilsner Beer 4.9% ABV 16floz Draft ($7.00): Clear amber color, cider hoppy aroma, low body, crisp light hoppy flavor, smooth finish, and dry light hoppy aftertaste - a very easy brew. Double Western Burger ($10.35): A simple burger made with American cheese, lettuce, tomato, pickles, onion rings, and BBQ sauce all between a fluffy bun, this messy two-hander was strong with its thick patties and stuff squeezing out all over the place. This was a finger-licking good burger at a really nice price! [ONION RINGS/STRAWS/STRINGS ALERT - 4.0 of 5.0 STARS] Onion Rings w/Aiolo Dipping Sauce 7pc ($5.65): A small portion with rings of large sizes, these were hot, dark golden browned, crunchy, and had a tendency to crumble when bitten into while the onion ring (not sweet Maui) pulled out at times. They were lightly oily while the aioli helped to give them more flavor. Mango Habanero Hot Wings & Veggie Sticks w/Bleu Cheese Dipping Sauce 6pc ($8.25): Somewhat small drummetes and wingettes, there was just enough tender meat on the bones while the mango habanero sauce was surprisingly hot and sweet, I also used the very tame bleu cheese sauce although it wasn't needed. The veggie stickers were small, fresh, and helped to cleanse the palate. At about $1.38/piece, it was a relatively good deal and tasty for what you got. SERVICE You had the option to order at a kiosk or with a friendly young man at the order window (I chose the latter). He easily and quickly took my order, gave me my beer while I waited, and less than ten minutes later, everything was packed up and ready to go - easy-peasy! PARKING (Varied: FREE this instance): I found a spot in their tiny lot (less than five spots). Otherwise, there seemed to be plenty of spots along the main drag of Eagle Rock Blvd. (be sure to read all posted signs) - 'nuff said. ATMOSPHERE, DÉCOR, AMBIENCE Basically a takeout business with a handful of communal metal tables, chairs, and some barstools in an outdoor covered patio with a lone order window. This was very barebones, rustic, and practical. There was plenty of natural lighting while some electric lights filled in the rest with some possible help from the nearby street lights. There was one TV but no background music. ATTIRE Totally casual, so I would normally be in a t-shirt, boardshorts, and flip-flops. OVERALL I was very glad to see that The Bucket had returned (when, I had no idea), and I planned to reacquaint myself with their entire menu. Speaking of the menu, it now had a Mexican portion (burritos, tacos, tortas) that I didn't recall from previous times; furthermore, their burger selection has been scaled back with none of the earlier-mentioned burgers that led you closer to a hospital visit. Regardless, the food was very good, affordable, no frills, and the service was straightforward. Plus, I always preferred to give my business to local small mom & pop businesses. I found complete value based on the prices, service, and experience noted above (TOTAL paid experience was around $34.00 BEFORE any discounts, points usage, and/or tip). And, they accepted my credit card of choice... AMEX! 5.0 STARS

You order at a kiosk right in front, and you pay and grab your own drinks from the fridge next to you after paying. They receive the order and make your pizza. They do make shakes and coffee, so if you order that, then they do come out to the coffee bar area and make it for you. The place is huge and spacious and fun for kids. There's plenty of seating inside and outside in the front and the back. The back also holds the play area for kids. Plenty of stuff for them to play with; however, I do feel like there is a lot of space that is not being used or filled with other great stuff. For example, they have an area where they can make alcoholic drinks, but they don't. There's also plenty of more space in the play area to add more stuff. They barely had any inflatables when we went, and I've seen videos and pictures of them having a lot and bigger ones, but on this day they only had two very little ones. My kids still had a blast! The pizza is great! It tasted good. We got a cheese pizza for the kids, and it was pretty big. They did not finish it; we had plenty left over between their cheese and our pepperoni. They have no parking here, but it is okay because there is plenty of outside street parking. My kids loved the pizza and the fun they had here, so we will most likely return multiple times from now on.

Still, I decided to give it another chance around 8 PM yesterday since my family was visiting LA and this was their choice. That turned out to be a big mistake. The experience started off poorly at the register. Since I'm not familiar with their menu or promotions, I asked a simple question about a deal my mom mentioned to confirm whether it was valid that day. The cashier immediately snapped and told me to "either speak up or have your driver talk for you." It was unnecessarily rude and caught me completely off guard, especially because I was already speaking clearly imo. When my boyfriend tried to ask the same question, she didn't even answer it. Just repeated a price, which wasn't helpful at all. At that point, we gave up and just ordered. Even then, the ordering process continued to be frustrating. She repeatedly got our order wrong when reading it back, and we had to correct her multiple times. The whole interaction felt rushed and unnecessarily tense. Better customer service training would really go a long way here. Then came the food. I ordered chili cheese fries, and at first, I thought maybe this visit would redeem itself. They tasted decent, which I appreciated because I was hungry. But halfway through, I started getting sharp stomach pains and had to stop eating immediately. I gave the rest to my boyfriend (who thankfully didn't get sick), but I ended up with a pretty bad stomach ache and we had to go home, smh. So the one time I decide to give this place another chance, I get rude service and feel sick afterward. Between the attitude at the register and the food making me feel unwell, this experience was frustrating from start to finish. I do understand why people feel nostalgic about this place since my own family has been coming here for years but unfortunately, I will not be returning.

Parking: Street parking was super easy on a Sunday afternoon, I was able to pull up right in front and park on the street. There is a Super A across the street and ample parking around for free. Ambiance & Food: This reminds me of an old school burger stand. Those were the best burgers and this one did not stop that trend. As I walked up, we were warmly greeted and given a quick rundown of what which burger. They did have specials (I will get to that in a second) which we were intrigued, but for the sake of perspective, I ordered the Goldburger and both regular fries and curly fries with a bottle coke. The Goldburger is naturally a double, but my gymrat protein brain added that extra patty. They use a 70% to 30% mixture for their burger which makes the burger oh so decadent. The picture I took doesn't do it justice. The moment you bite into the burger the combination of burger juice, aioli, burnt skirt, all come together in such a harmonious fashion. It was remarkable. Though fries are not one of my strong points, both fries were crispy and I haven't had any other experience with Curly fries other than Jack in the Box, but these were so much better. I went ahead and dipped the fries in some homemade Aioli and dang, what a combo! Back to those specials, the current special is CHILI, I was intrigued so they gave me a small container of it to try. Man, if I wasn't watching my caloric intake, that would have been the move. It was rich and chunky and not to soggy which some always comes. Give it a try as they said it will be around for sometime. Other than burgers, they do have hot dogs as well. So worth trying both next time. To be perfectly honest, this brought back so much nostalgia for me, I used to go to school in the area and this brought a lot of those memories back.
