One tender chicken sandwich, fries, burger in the back
Lori C.

Planned to meet my family in Pasadena. I offered a few places to meet, they chose Hiho. I was a little early to our meet. I grabbed a bench outside and waited. A line began to form before Hiho opened. My family arrived. The line had died down. I didn't realize Hiho is on the left and a cheesesteak place is on the right. Very cool. There a a handful of tables inside and some on the patio. I had studied the menu, of course, and decided to order the one chicken tender sandwich, fries and a Diet Coke in a can. My aunt and uncle ordered burgers and fries. Our food arrived pretty quickly. It looked so good! The chicken sandwich was good. I loved the batter on the chicken. Reminded me of really good tempura fish. Nice bun. Sweet pickles. The star...the fries! Crispy on the outside. Creamy on the inside. Salted perfectly. Oh my! I was told the burgers were really good, too, but I was very happy with my chicken.

Hiho burger.

Classsic burger taste profile, executed perfectly. A little disappointed by the lemonade. I know beef tallow fried fries are trendy, but I gotta admit these were really good. The only downside is the loud and cramped dining area. Next time I'll get it to go.

I have been wanting to try this since they opened in Pas Got the HiHo burger, the flavor of the meat was good and the bun was soft. But the bottom bun got so soggy, I took it off to eat the other half of my burger. The chicken tenders are pretty good, they come with honey on it and have a different batter on them. But they were a good size and were yummy! Fries were solid The service was fast, you just go up to order. But we went on a weekday so I'm sure it's busier on the weekend. I was pretty disappointed in how soggy the burger was, I was really looking forward to trying this place. But the chicken tenders and fries were pretty good. I am not sure if I would go back

Willie Mae chicken tenders, chicken sandwich & cheeseburger

Sharing the same space as Cheesesteak by Matu, HiHo usually doesn't have much of a line, so you can simply walk up and place your order. I thought the burgers were just okay, on the smaller side, and the lettuce in it was a bit soggy, which is a big no-no for me. My husband, on the other hand, isn't picky about burgers and happily finished them without complaint. What really earns this place five stars for me are the Willie Mae chicken tenders and the chicken sandwich. Holy moly! I've had Willie Mae's in New Orleans before, and this version is just as good if not better. The chicken is hot, crispy, and incredibly flavorful. Honestly, it was worth the three pimples that popped up on my chin the next day. I'm not sure how they brought it to LA or if they're using the same recipe, but whatever they're doing, don't skip the Willie Mae chicken tenders here!

A friend and I tried to come to cheesesteaks by Matu and it's only open during lunch time So we tried HiHo burger. It shares the same space, almost like a mini food court but with just two options The cashier we spoke was nice and helpful. Standard smash burger. Reminds me very much of For the Win. Quality tasted. I like that the fries are fried in beef tallow.

We happened upon this place tonight after our movie when we realized that we might get hangry on the way home. Glad we tried it out! Staff were amazing--greeted us warmly, explained the menu, that the burgers are 100% grass fed Wagyu beef and that the Hiho smash burger is the most popular order. Food was hot and ready within 10 minutes. Customer service (5/5). Ambience is just warehouse vibes dimly lit in greys and blacks but at least it was clean (including the bathroom), plenty of seating, EDM music too loud to really talk. (4/5) Hiho burger, Single tender hot chicken sandwich, hand cut fries, and house made pickles were all super flavorful. Kudos to the owners who decided to specialize in a couple really excellent items rather than having a 6-page menu. Pickles and chicken were a bit sweet for me but definitely crispy. Burger was savory and delicious. Fries were slightly sweet as well (maybe the oil they use), perfectly hot and crispy. All in all a very satisfying meal on a cold rainy evening. Come check it out!

Classic burger and fries

This is a great burger. Juicy. A bit salty - but I guess people like that sort of thing. Fries were natural cut and pretty good. $9.45 for the classic and it came with two patties and two slices of thick American cheese. I'd get this again. I was debating getting the chicken and I saw the guy next table eating a Willie Mae fried chicken sandwich. Looked a bit greasy and crispy on the outside with a tender chunk of chicken inside, he left half on his plate but he said it was really good - pioneer chicken style. He said it wasn't greasy, so I guess I'll have to try it next time to find out

Came to HiHo burger for the first time and it was sooo good! I didn't know what to get so I opted for their HiHo burger and it did not disappoint. Everything tasted fresh and well seasoned. The burgers come double double unless you order the kids for a single burger. Staff was welcoming and the establishment was clean. The place does share seating with Matū Cheesesteaks but they were closed to there was a lot of seating. HiHo burger + pastrami: 7.8/10 ; the flavor was very good and enjoyable. I couldn't really taste the actual pastrami thought besides the texture of it. Overall it was good. Fries: 10/10 ; when I want fries this is what I want! Hiho burger: 8.6/10 ; the flavor was very good and packed well. I'm not sure if there was water remaining from the lettuce or some oil from the burger but there was a lot dripping. Overall, I would get again though! This place was amazing and I'd definitely be back!

I finally made it to HiHo cheeseburger in Pasadena to see if the hype is real. HiHo cheeseburger has been called the best burger in California. They're known for the Wagyu beef and simple, quality ingredients. I wanted to love this place but the burger was underwhelming. The Wagyu patty itself was the only part that lived up to the hype; it's juicy, lightly seasoned with salt and pepper, and cooked to a perfect medium. It was all downhill after that though; the bun was not toasted, the shredded lettuce was wet which made the bottom bum soggy. The pickles were thick and mushy with no crunch, so instead of a balanced, satisfying bite you get a soft mush of ingredients. The thick cut fries were much better than expected. They're nicely fried and well seasoned. They were the best part of the meal, and I hate thick cut fries. I paid around $25 for a Mexican Coke, a HiHo Double, and the fries, and for that price it didn't feel worth it. It wasn't even as good as a picanha burger and fries you can get for $10 at Fogo de Chao down the street. Service was friendly, the food came out fast, and the place is run well. They have a limited but well balanced menu. They've got house made desserts like banana cream and key lime pies and from scratch milkshakes, which looked tempting and might be worth coming back for. They have a chicken sandwich too, if that's your thing. Overall, I'm glad I tried it but the burger didn't live up to the hype for me. Worth a shot if you're curious. Give the fries, shakes, or pies a try but don't go in expecting the best burger in California.

Can't believe Pasadena finally has its own HiHo. There's a lot of hype around this place and it's been busy every time I've gone, which is already three visits in. I can see why people either love it or hate it. Yes, the burgers are on the smaller side and yeah, it's a bit pricey for what it is, but I've been really enjoying it lately. They specialize in Wagyu beef smash burgers, and so far I've tried the HiHo burger, which reminds me of a classic double cheeseburger with mustard, and the Big Matty, which gives Big Mac vibes. I've also had the chicken tenders sandwich, and it honestly reminds me of Korean fried chicken. Crispy on the outside and juicy inside. The space itself is pretty small with limited seating. You order at the window and then find a seat, which gives it that casual walk up burger stand vibe. What I'm really in love with are their beef tallow fries. I actually enjoy that slightly soggy crispiness and they're super addicting. Overall, this spot definitely hits the spot. Just be prepared for a wait because it's pretty popping right now.

The great: the staff is amazing, friendly, and attentive. The good: the French fries, they are crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside. The okay: while the burgers are juicy, they are on the greasier side. You can tell the quality of the meat is good, but unfortunately it was a bit bland. Worth a try if you're in the neighborhood.

So I got my first taste of HiHo in Studio City a while ago and I was like "Shyeet, that's some tasty shyeet. Wish there was one near me." Well, here we are now and they've put one right in my hood. It's right next to Tender Greens and parking is always a pain in these parts, especially if you're looking for a free spot. There's always the paid parking garage accessible on the north-south street right next to Tender Geeens. It's six bucks though. You've been warned. Oh yeah, another thing is that this HiHo is not a traditional, fast-food restaurant setting like the Studio City spot. It's basically just two windows: one where you order and the other where you pick up. There are seats and tables in an adjacent, covered patio area, but it's relatively small and it's shared with another eatery - a really popular Philly cheesesteak spot called Matu or something that runs out of bread and meat after a couple hours. So during prime time, you're going to have to wait a bit for a seat. Also, because it's like a pick-up-and-go spot, there are no fountain drinks (just cans and bottles) or bathrooms here. Just FYI. Anyway, so HiHo burgers are terrific. They really are dayum good and some of the best around. But the one I got here wasn't as good as the one I had in Studio City. The bun wasn't crisped properly and was a bit soggy. And the patties seemed a little overcooked. Still, it's a lot better than like 95% of the other burger spots in the area. Fries were a little greasier than I remembered as well and a bit soggy. And these are some of the best fries you'll get (they're Belgian style). And if I can recall, they give you like a garlic aioli dip in the Studio City spot. Not here though (or maybe you have to ask for it...I don't know). I suspect the quality control has declined because it's a super popular spot right now and they are a bit rushed when crafting the stuff back there. I think that might be it. Anyway, when things settle down a little, maybe things will pick back up. Probably should've given this a three, but I know they can do better and I know what a real HiHo burger should taste like! To be continued!

Was having lunch next door and noticed a short line so picked up a few burgers to take home to try. Ended up waiting ~20 mins for the food. Tried both the Hiho double and the Matty burgers along with a side of fries. Both burgers were good and actually prefer the Hiho over the Matty as I wasn't a huge fan of the sauce. Fries were decent but prefer them fried a bit more so that they'll be crispier. Will be back but will likely dine there as the buns were a tad soggy on the 15 min walk home.

Aren't any fee's added to bill illegal in CA?

As of late 2024, certain restaurant service charges are permitted if they are clearly disclosed as mandatory fees before the final bill, following specific amendments to the original law to ban junk fees passed in July 2024.

I've heard some good things about this place and from other fellow yelpers friends, it must be…read moreworth it. Had a dinner reservation with some girlfriends celebrating two of their birthdays. The restaurant itself isn't too big but it does a pack a nice punch. Cute patio out front that takes some of the sidewalks and streets. Plenty of heat lamps which helped with the chilly nights. We got seated at one of the tables on the patios which was nice. Didn't really utilize inside area except for the restroom which it's quite cute in there. The rooms were pretty well decorated and executed. Nice bar area too. Like mentioned, we got seated on the patio and the heat lamps were great. Down to the menus, it's quite limited on dishes. Seemed like there were more shared plates versus the entrees. Drinks, it was fairly decent with their cocktails and wine. Service at the beginning was great. The staff were amazing and very friendly. We didn't order right away as we were still waiting for the last one to show. But did start off with some drinks. It didn't take that long for the first round which was nice. Food wise, the shared plate was a mixture of everything. Some of the olives, which is exactly what it is. The Belgian fries, nice thick cut fries with shredded pecorino cheese and a nice aioli sauce. We ended up getting a second order of it. The albacore tuna crudo was a hit which was really tasty. Chili ginger relish, mint and shallot, can't go wrong with that. Lastly the meatballs, tasty and very great for sharing. Entrees, the pan seared sea bass which I loved. Portion is pretty tiny which also seemed like they were a shared plate. Almost tapas styled. Nice chimichurri sauce and a side salad. The chicken Milanese also with a side salad of arugula. Simple dish but quite tasty. One of the salads that was somewhat hyped up by the waitress but it was just a salad. Decent but nothing major to rave about...lol... also the confit oyster mushrooms was major hit. Something that simple but quite tasty. And lastly the pan con tomate, rustic sourdough with tomatoes and burrata. Tasty as well. Overall the meal was good. From there, the second round of drinks did take a long time to arrive and with then plates that we shared, trying to get someone to clear the plates was another thing. Took a long for someone to clear the table before more items came. Even when the entrees came, all the empty starter plates were still there. And if someone did clear the plates, some was still left on the table. Finishing off the night, we did have the dessert which we tried all three. As it was two of our girlfriends birthday, they brought out a little bubbly for us to celebrate with the dessert. That was quite sweet and nice. Honestly opinion with the dessert, they were just ok. Nothing major to rave about. We tried all three on the menu and they were just ok. Overall, the food was great. Service was nice and the staffs were all very friendly. It did take a while for plates to get cleared from the table and second round did take a while, but it was manageable. It was a sweet gesture with the bubbly with the dessert which was greatly appreciated. The place is nice and great for catching up. Menu is limited and portions are quite small. You would have to get a good amount for sharing. Entrees, depending on what you order is small as well. But we enjoyed ourself.

She read my mind and knew without me saying. They serve lukewarm water and the a/c was on but was not on ..if u catch my drift. The front hostess was also phenomenal, I had reservation for outdoor seating but since she saw that the sun was like glaring, she asked if I wanted to change to inside. Very obliging and accommodating. Food: 5 stars, surprisingly good, right amount for us. I was full but I can see where other reviewers say portions are small. It's small if u're a heavy eater. But the quality is definitely there. Ambiance: trendy, high energy, casual vibes where u can lounge and have a beer while munching on fries...or u can choose to be poshy and have a glass of wine with a salad and Chilean sea bass. It's flexible to accommodate both as there are different sections. Parking: street metered 1 hour parking. 3 stars, not their fault but 1 hour is simply not enough. It can get super busy and the server can be pulled left and right, so cut them some slack during super busy hours. Will definitely be back. Highly recommended .
