If you're in the area and you like breakfast burritos this is the spot you need to go to. I'm not even kidding when I say one burrito can definitely feed two people. The burritos come with some of the most amazing salsa I've ever had too. I would recommend either having them cut it in half for you or eating it with a fork and knife because they stuff these burritos and it might start to fall apart while you're eating. The service is like fast food service, you order at the counter and they'll call you when the order is ready. There's some indoor seating and outdoor seating. Came here about 10pm, and they only allowed to go orders because they close at 10:45pm. The wait for our food wasn't long, maybe 10 mins from the time we ordered. We ordered a basic cheeseburger, pastrami burger and a small chili cheese fries. The fries were slight soggy by the time we arrived at our hotel, about 10 mins away. The bacon was really salty and the hash browns weren't crispy at all, pretty soggy and honestly unappetizing almost as if they boiled them. While the service was fast (the burrito was done in less than 10 min), I would've much rather waited longer in the slight chance the hash browns were cooked longer. This old school burger joint in Pasadena exceeded my expectations. I ordered their burger and onion rings and a large orange bang to wash it all down. The burger was very large and I honestly didn't expect to finish it but somehow I did. I think the very large portion of onion rings and the large ranch sides they provide just made this meal extremely satisfying and I just couldn't stop eating it until was all gone. My mom would say the kids she would nanny always wanted a breakfas burrito from here so thats what i got. 19$ for bacon burrito with a medium drink i thought thats steep but eh. As soon as I pulled into the driveway of this restaurant an employee, an older gentleman, signaled for me to go away. I am guessing because the parking lot was full? I should have taken this as a sign to leave- but I was so hungry and hot I decided to park on the street and still go inside. When I ordered at the cashier, I immediately looked at my receipt and noticed that he missed an item. I ordered a drink, a shake, zucchini but he did not ring up the Greek wrap. I stepped to the cashier next to him, a woman, and let her know he forgot the greek wrap, showed her my receipt, and so she rang me up for a separate transaction to add it. I then waited and received my two drinks and the greek wrap. However the zucchini never came. I waited and waited for the zucchini fries. I was on a time crunch and hungry... I thought to myself "I bet they forgot I even ordered zucchini fries because a big party in front of me ordered so many they probably got mixed up". Sure enough they did. The lady working the register kept looking at me weird, then finally asked "are you waiting for something?". "Yes" I replied, showing her my receipt and said "my zucchini". She told the chef to make an order and quickly he did. My whole experience ordering and waiting was annoying. The employees are not good at their job. I went home to eat... the greek wrap was disappointing. It did not look appetizing, the lettuce inside was wilted brown ice berg lettuce chopped thin. I was staying at the Westin and wanted something close and a non chain restaurant. Now when I walked in I instantly had regret of not reviewing the overwhelming menu prior to arrival. The space seems spacious but the order area is a little cramped. Although they were extremely busy they were moving the people out in a timely manner. 3+ year loyal customer at Lucky Boy, living right down the street on Oakland Ave, and I've spent well over $1,000 here over time. Today I came in urgently needing to use the restroom. I politely asked and was initially denied by the actual manager someone who knows me as a regular customer. Only after pushing back was I reluctantly allowed in. Let alone, I had literally just purchased lunch there earlier the same day only a few hours before this happened. That's disappointing. There's a difference between policy and basic human decency. Denying a loyal customer in an urgent situation especially one who had just spent money there says a lot about how management values (or doesn't value) long-term support. It honestly saddens me to write this because I've supported this place for years and I don't want it to come off as just being negative but I think active customers should be aware of experiences like this. I'm literally just here to say they have the best fries of all time. Crisp on the outside and fluffy on the inside, always piping hot bc when you call in an order they only put them in there when you're picking up. They also don't really salt them much which personally I'm here for. Also love their tuna melts, avocado burgers, their Greek salad. They do well with customization from what I've experienced. Their breakfast burritos have enough meat to send you into immediate cardiac arrest if that's your thing. I am generally in and out (ie don't dine in) so can't speak to the "ambiance" but frankly, it's a greasy spoon slinging burgers and fries at a very reasonable price, that's not what you came for. read more

I hardly ever write a review but... LUCKY BOY IS DEAD. At least the one from my childhood, no longer exists as of today. This place no longer cares, walked in to a man requesting his $200 order of burritos to be cut in half and staff would not comply. I Ordered a $17 breakfast burrito supreme. Asked to get it cut in half and requested to make sure to have the sour cream was in there as last time it was not. The cashier asked "was at night time"?. I said no (I guess don't come here at night) it was during the day and then he asked "were we busy". Yes. .. but this place has always been busy. Got my burrito had to come back in TWICE. Once because they didn't cut the burrito in half and the second time when I found out there' was no sour cream. After a brief argument they remade me a cold supreme sour cream breakfast burrito meaning it was drowning in the stuff. RIP Lucky Boy, you had a good run. I really love this spot! It's a Pasadena gem; but wow! I just had the worst customer service experience. My boyfriend is from San Diego and I brought him here to share that classic Lucky Boy experience... bad decision. The female workers had a terrible attitude and treated their manager with no type of respect. The female workers showed no enjoyment or enthusiasm in the workplace. If you hate your job, quit! And worst of all, the manager himself had a terrible attitude on top of that. He felt so offended when we tried to ask for a refund. Found this place on Yelp and decided to give it a try as it was down the street from our hotel. When we arrived a little before 10pm on a Wednesday night (after a Dodgers game) :) it was kinda busy for a week day and later in the night. The man taking the order was very friendly, joked with customers and just made ordering enjoyable! We tried the cheeseburger (not pictured), chili cheese fries, onion rings and fried zucchini. My favorite had to be the cheeseburger! Great well cooked, the taste of the sauce was on point and just so good! The onion rings were okay with the ranch they paired so good together. The fried zucchini was missing seasoning, they weren't terrible but we didn't eat much of them and for almost $9 I think the portion was great for the price but just needed more flavor. The chili cheese fries were tasty, the chili had a good seasoning (a little salty) but if I had ordered with less chili and extra cheese I think it would've been perfect! Also my hubby got the patty melt! It was so goood!! I def recommend that one as well. Kinda hoping someone on staff will read this. You used to be my go-to but every breakfast burrito I've gone to get within the past, like, year and a half has fallen apart on me the second I touch it. No structural integrity, ingredients aren't at all integrated, I end up with a charcuterie spread of breakfast lumps on a to-go paper wrap which I pick apart with my hands in the booth. I know you're a Pasadena institution and I appreciate that you keep your prices low and things are no fuss, and the salsas are still good, but I'm not crazy the burritos never used to fall apart this quickly. Stopped in here today to try the iconic breakfast burrito! First off, there's a parking lot, which makes it very convenient to stop in. When I walked in, the first thing I was struck by was how overwhelmingly hot the location was. It was actually much hotter than outside, and it was about 80 degrees outside. Luckily we were already planning on taking our food to go, but it was difficult to even stand in the restaurant for the amount of time it took to order and get my food. I felt very bad for the staff who have to work in those conditions. The breakfast burrito itself was pretty good. As unfortunate it is that I would have to write my first yelp review is unfortunate on how this business more specifically the manager runs this business. As this business has high expectations for being around for many years and has the "best burgers and burritos" is nothing but untrue. I have lived in pasadena for 2 years coming from las vegas the place known for entertainment and customer service. I have been in the food/beverage industry for many years and this place knows nothing but HAIR in food and no customer service what so ever. Trying my third attempt recently of ordering from this place this is the THIRD time i've gotten my order with hair inside my burritos. The only reason why i am now writing a review and trying this place for the third and final time was because im not one to leave reviews and give places a chance to redeem themselves. With the photos i posted with hair, i came back to the restaurant and showed the manager the photos (with the burrito on hand) to request a refund and mentioned this is the third time this has happened. He was already very angry i wanted a refund and i did not want another one made. despite showing him these photos he made me dig through the burrito and pull whoever hair it was out with my bare hands so he can physically see the hair inside the burrito. As disgusting that was for me to need to do so it was also un sanitary and UNPROFESSIONAL. Once I pulled the hair out he turned around to talk to the cooks who was NOT wearing any hair nets and the manager did NOT once apologize. None of the staff members apologized or showed empathy. I only got a refund knowing if i did not pull the hair out i wouldn't have gotten one. The manager who worked on june 28 at 1pm claimed his name was "john" which sounded like a very fake name was overall unprofessional and showed no type of customer service skills. I recommend not here unless you enjoy hair and unsanitary food. The place will definitely be reported to the city of pasadena instead of just writing a yelp review.
